An absolutely fantastic coffee shop! I really enjoyed the fact that they have a study space as well (though I dont have a picture of it). The coffee was delicious and the vibes were great. I went at 5PM which is an hour before they close; they werent busy at all and my coffee came out in less than 2 minutes.

Really cute spot with really comfortable chairs in the library area. Patio is really nice and people are friendly. Coffee isn’t too milky and enjoyed that as well.

A gem in the rough. People telling theres nothing to do in hamtramk dont know about this place. Its very cozy and their board game selection is legit. Old school cool!

This is a great place to slow down and actually enjoy your coffee. It has character and is very welcoming. There are great spaces for sitting and chatting, and it’s not too loud. They have a wide variety of drinks available. I’ve only had their coffee, and it’s great. $5 minimum on their card reader, so I would recommend bringing cash if possible!

I love the iced coffee here! Colleen is super nice and answers any questions about menu items. Its good coffee, decent treats and quiet. A lot of people go there to read or work on their computers.

Nice relatively quiet atmosphere would be great for studying or holding a small meeting. Would definitely visit this place again if I were in the area.

The coffee is good, but the ambiance is what earns Cafe 1923 five stars.The drinks are cheap and they have their own library in the room beyond the storefront.They also have a recycling service and a bulletin board to post or look for local community events.

Very cool little coffee shop with a lot of attitude and atmosphere. A hip blend of old-school and new school in a neighborhood that evokes old timey Detroit. Friendly and knowledgeable staff was a good start to a great visit. Would highly recommend for chilling, studying, or just stopping in and saying hi.

I love the vintage atmosphere. I also loved that it has stayed true to its historic look. I talked to the cashier and her personality was just so vibrant and friendly. Anyone who goes there will love it. Its a place you can go to and have just a quiet relax time with yourself or even friends.

Im not a coffee connoisseur by any means, but the latte I had was very good. They have a nice selection of coffee shop foods. Its a cool old building with plenty of seating.

My best friend moved to Detroit about 3 years ago. Whenever Im in town or even just passing through (like today), we end up having coffee and conversation at 1923. Its a deserving outpost on the road of my life.

A terrific cafe latte and cappuccino to sip surrounded by the books lining the library walls defining a special place in Hamtramack. Just down the street from the new Detroit FILM LAB THEATER.

One of my favorite coffee houses! The atmosphere is very comforting, and goes great with the coffee. This house is also one of the best places to visit if you are in need of some quiet study time. If youre truly a fan of coffee, try the Michigan Cherry coffee, or the Mexican coffee. Both are great!

I love this place! Staff is friendly and coffee is good. My husband and I are frequent visitors. We stay for hours doing homework. Its an overall great place.

I dont know how we didnt find this place sooner! Its a perfect cute WiFi cafe. The atmosphere is comfortably versatile to have a conversation, read a book, or do homework. The two rooms provide a quieter room for intense studying while the cafe area is busier and houses the food, live music, and much of the chatter. Well definitely be back!

This is the complete opposite of a sterile chain coffee shop. Plenty of space of curl up for a warm beverage and interesting conversation. And they dont think I am weird for ordering a breve latte. Hamtown at its best.

Coffee and espresso drinks are good, as well as pastries. Lots of flyers for local events. Staff is friendly and good at their jobs. Many diverse seating areas, provides comfort for several different situations, from meetings to study to just relaxation.

As I sit lolling in my chair, the mellow music which is always something I have never heard before, makes me feel smarter as I read my book and absent mindedly people watch. This is where I go to do important things like ... waste time. Slow down world! Enjoy yourself.

Cafe 1923 has an eclectic style and feel. It has a nice laid back atmosphere, the staff is friendly, and the iced green tea is the best that I have tasted.

Great little spot in Hamtramck across from the Kowalski plant. This place has been around for at least 10 yrs and the service and coffee have been pretty consistent. A great place to study or read, when its not busy. The music is always @ a level as not to be annoying. overall no complaints about the place.

Peaceful at all times

I got a vanilla iced coffee here and it was very good. When I recieved my coffee I expected it to have creamer in it and when I looked it was completely black so I was kind of sceptical. (Im 13 so usually I dont like completely black coffee) When I tried the coffee it was VERY GOOD. Although the coffee was black it really did have a vanilla taste and was slightly sweet. Overall recommend this place for people who like strong iced coffee. I went here after visiting my sisters in hamtramck and I live in novi so Im very sad that I dont have this cafe near me and Im actually really looking forward to coming back :)

Probably the most classic coffee house in the area. Theres a place for everything: reading, working, playing games, having a meeting, having a bite to eat. The only negative is that the drip coffee is not that good, so I would stay with the espresso based coffee drinks.
