Absolutely delicious ice cream! Dont be deceived by the serving examples in the front, though - they give you quite a bit more than that. Id heard that they served large portions, but we were still surprised at how much they gave us! Hand for scale, since I didnt have a banana. Yes, both of those Styrofoam cups are entirely filled with ice cream. 11/10 would recommend.

We drove from Fresno to see what the big deal was... only to get disappointed... the total of two ice creams was 17.85 ... I ordered a sundae with 2 scoops asked for fudge... & got two scoops with a dab of fudge very little to none peanuts (had ordered a rocky road) ... then I ordered a Banana split my kid said there were no peanuts .... & it was put in a Styrofoam cup. The portions were nothing like the pictures on yelp or on Google. They were small ... the service sucked. I havent had such a bad experience so much so I came on here.. I usually yelp ! Jist want save somone the gas money & the annoyance.

Amazing Ice cream. I had the Cookies n cream flavor and it was superb! so creamy and delicious. One thing is for sure, central valley has the best ice cream!! (just a tip- one scoop is more than enough for two people. )

This place is pretty good, a little disappointing on this visit. The wait is ridiculously long but is usually worth it. The call in orders are even longer so just go stand in line & wait. This visit the Rocky Road needed more marshmallows in it (it was more like a chocolate ice cream with almonds only), the Strawberry Sundae could of used a little bit more Strawberry Topping, the lady didnt know how to make a Banana Split Shake so it came out really watery & she didnt add any whip cream.

Ice cream is always good. They need to remember not everyone wants a 20 oz size scoop. May be in my younger years this was great but sadly as Ive agedI actually can only handle 1/2. Of course I could split but having a spouse that prefers a different flavor. That isnt possible 🤔So needless to say we got 2 individual scoops mine being lemon 🍋and hers chocolate of course 😋Managed to share some with small cups given with individuals across the street in the park.Definitely a must have while visiting Hanford 😊

Good ice cream. I got maple nut. The ice cream scoops are ginormous!! Definitely sharing size. I would prefer they do smaller scoops, so I could have tried the lemon flavor. Service was okay. Couldve been better.

I love Superior Dairy. When you walk in, its like stepping back in time. You have your choice of sitting in a booth or at the ice cream counter.Some of my older family members grew up in Hanford, and ever since I was little I have heard stories about Superiors ice cream.They give mountain size ice cream servings. The peach ice cream is delicious and you should see their giant banana splits!Its definitely a treat every time I stop by.

I was in Hanford for business. This ice cream shop is an icon. Hugh Houser filmed a visit on his show California Gold many years ago. Although very old, still has the old counter and tables very nostalgic to say the least. Ice cream is good too!

Used to be great. Grey up with this central valley iconic ice cream shop. Though the insides have changed over time with the white paint covering up the metal ceiling adornments, the shop has essentially remained the same since the 1970s and thats the best thing about it. Ice cream like no other. There really is no comparison in the western United States. That said, the prices have always been completely reasonable to the point I can take the family out for a banana split on a warm spring Sunday afternoon without paying a right and left leg. Unfortunately, the days of those family friendly prices has evolved into a cash grab. Sorry to say it but times change and driving the distance to Hanford then paying what they are asking for ice cream nowadays is no longer the must have Sunday experience. Too bad, was rely hoping to enjoy the tradition with my grand children in the next 10 years. Bring your prices back to the good of days and restore the good times. Used to leave 20 dollar tip just to show my appreciation, now Iimit tips to 10% sorry.

I love this place. Its clean, the service is wonderful, the food is yummy and the ice cream is heavenly. Its time to allow indoor dining, guys! ... Milkshakes to go is not the same as having it there.

Who doesnt like ice cream? Serving sizes were over the top, a small can easily be shared with 2 or 3. And really, my motivation for even hitting the town of Hanford was to possibly run into Steve Perry at his favorite ice cream place. That didnt happen, but the ice cream was good.

Its a super fun place! I dont think I would go every day, but its definitely worth a stop here and there. The prices seem steep when you look at the menu, but when you see how much ice cream you get you realize its worth it. Not only are the portions GIANT, the ice cream is great quality too. I just moved here from San Diego and everyone told me I have to try superior ice cream spot so I did today. It’s not friendly environment and employees were rude when I ask can I get small cone with chocolate and vanilla and she said no only one flavor. I mean whattt !! Anyway it’s horrible experience and not going that spot ever again .. it’s waste of money and time.

HUGE portions of delicious ice cream. Great for sharing or getting it to go. I had a cookies n cream and maple nut drizzled in chocolate syrup. My son had a sundae. Wonderful. My two critiques are that ALL staff should definitely wear hairnets to prevent those strands from getting mixed in and they should have a strong armed person on scooping to keep it flowing well. The young lady had to dig deep to scoop and her hair was loose...yuck.

After seeing this place on an episode of Californias Gold, we had to try it. Ice cream was nothing special, they made my wifes banana split in a styrofoam cup, and there was no inside dining because their air conditioning wasnt working. Disappointing experience.

The ice cream quality is always amazing. The staff is a hit or miss situation. Generally they are helpful. With COVID restrictions the line for to go orders is often out the door.

First time visiting in Hanford. Due to covid, you have to wait in line, everything is served in a cup, which is no big deal to me.Some people complained. And wanted to experience the ice cream in its natural form...Anyway.. the one scoop ice cream is very generously sized. Almost too much to eat.. The milkshakes are perfect 👌 ! Just dont try to drink them with a straw youll pop a vein trying to get a sip.. just use the spoon they give you.Family owned in the same building since 1929 in a smallish town, so you know they do things right.I will cone back when they allow you to sit inside. The entire area is quiet and really well kept with a public square right across the street that isnt littered with trash. Great area to explore.I highly recommend a visit.

Nothing superior about this place unless the original founders last name was superior. They do have large portions of ice cream that is pricy. The servings are so large so they can try to get rid of their inferior product while still trying to perfect good ice cream. If you lived in a bubble and never had ice cream before, sure, it would be good. If youve had Friendlys or store bought ice cream then youve had better. Im not one to turn down ice cream but my wife got rocky road and I wouldnt eat it. I got a chocolate shake and have never left a drop of milkshake in a cup in my entire life but I couldnt bring myself to to drink this one. Listen dont listen, but people who say they come from far and wide must be those bubble people.

The other review is correct that there isn’t a ton of seating and it is quite pricer than a normal ice cream BUT the portion is MASSIVE and it’s all about experience. Not to mention it’s the best ice cream ever. We have a place in FL people come just for the vintage atmosphere and size just like here. But the difference is taste the ice cream is unlike any other. U can tell how fresh it is and that it’s unique to Superior Dairy.

We went on Sunday, June 6th 2021One male employee was very annoying, he stood at the register and kept saying I can help you over here over and over while we were trying to look at the menu that they had taped to the counter. I finally told him hed said it enough and we would let him know when we were ready to order. He said he was trying to provide good customer service, I told him he had no idea what customer service was by the way he was so irritating.However there was a female employee that came over to where we were and really got what good customer is. She was very courteous and friendly.Then after we placed our order and the female was getting our ice cream, a different male employee stood at the register and said the same thing, I can help you over here. I asked the female what was his problem and she said he would take our payment. If I was at the register this is what I would say, if youre ready to oder or are ready to pay I would be glad to help you here at the register.Bad experience, I traveled from Yuma, AZ to Bakersfield to visit family and had heard good things about them from family and their web page, it was to be one of the highlights of our trip, but that one employee ruined what could have been a great experience even with the covid restrictions.Not going back anytime soon, not worth the drive from Bakersfield.

First time ever here!!! My girl has been asking me to bring her for years!! Finally did it. Ice cream was off the hook!!🍨🍧 I had a chef salad dont care for boiled eggs that why I have them on the side. The reason I gave them 4 stars they didnt have any hot sauce I need my hot sauce and I didnt see any salt n pepper anywhere. The servers never double checked on us I wont hold that on them. They all looked pretty busy n they where very friendly. Thank you will be back forsure!!!

Best ice cream and milkshakes in the Central Valley! We buy this ice cream on site every year for birthdays and special events! This is the first place I take friends and family from out of town and when they return this becomes the first place they want to go!! Can’t wait for our next trip for wonderful ice cream! Great Ice Cream, and giant portions. 1 scoop = around 7 or 8 scoops. A very small area for the amount of people that go there. Messy floors, crowded and hot were the only downfalls.

Wife ordered banana split, which is supposed to be 3 scoops, and brother ordered 2 chocolate chip scoops. Was wayyy too much ice cream for us. Learned our lesson.Ice cream was great! But kinda pricey. The 3 items plus 2 sodas cost us $31 all together.Inside the place didn’t feel clean though. Anything above head height in there needs to be dusted and cleaned severely.Everything in there is definitely showing it’s age. Floor, counters, booths, stools. Would be a great investment for the owners to rejuvenate the place. oh, and bathrooms just had an icky feeling. Due to age as well.Anyway, I’d go back again, but probably take it to go.

So much ice cream (maybe even too much). There is no such thing as a small serving here! The ice cream creations are fun and a balancing act for those who serve them. I definitely recommend sharing. They have most common flavors. I really enjoyed vanilla and the lemon flavor.

This place is great for kids and families. My friends and I arrived almost 6pm to beat the heat, and sure it took over 20 minutes for our order to arrive, but we were attended to by a busy but nonetheless helpful waitresses and waiters. Would recommend window blinds or curtains to keep the intense sun out, expand staff hiring, and install a new air-conditioning, because even before the ice cream arrives at the table, its already dripping profusely. No complaints on the gigantic scoop and servings! For the price its amazing! Definitely bang for your buck and then some. Its nice that theyve kept the look of the place since 1929... Shows character and integrity, and respect for state history :)

I hope they serve ice cream like they did before the pandemic.

We didnt finish it because it is huge, 4 giant scoops of icecream, whip cream, fudge and nuts on the side and a cherry on top, place was packed, could use a bit more organization but other than that, we will be going back for more icecream

Service and ice cream was exceptional as always! It was a very busy day with the Renaissance Fair across the street. Despite this, was able to find seating quickly, had great customer service and loved our banana split order. It came with 3 scoops total of vanilla, strawberry and chocolate ice cream. Toppings were strawberry and pineapple. I added fudge on the side. Bananas were under the ice cream mountain- topped with whipped cream, nuts and a cherry. Nuts are provided in little cups that you can add on yourself. They have other options you can add too. As a FYI, they sell food, milkshakes, sundaes (they have a 7 scoop one) and more.

Ice cream is life and this place completely gets it!The only issue I had was... While eating at the bar one of the waiters decided it would be easier to throw the rag he just used to wipe down a table into the bussers tub instead of walking the extra 3 feet.The rag smacked the front lip of the counter and then plopped into its designation.The rag was full of table debris that had been scooped up in a hurry to clear the table for new customers... So as a bonus to my ice cream I recieved a small splash in the face, I also got a free topping of soggy bread crumbs for my ice cream (gross)The waiter was to distracted to notice he didnt charge me for the extra unsolicited topping so I pointed it out. He looked at me like a dear caught in the headlights of a monster truck.He promptly walked away, no words, no apology, no offer to replace my $10 chocolate sundae with peanut butter topping and whip cream, hold the nuts that had only been delivered 3 minutes prior.How rude... I finally made the effort to drive to Hanford to try it out and was not disappointed. Two scoops can feed a table of 6 easy. Delicious and cheap. My gripe was the cleanliness of the place. Expect thick layers of dark dust on the vents and trash littered floors. Expect it to be packed so seat yourself and hope a sever notices you.
