Have dealt with this business for many years very satisfied

I called for billing questions. The lady that answered the phone stated the reason I have received a statement every month for a year showing a credit was bc I evidently havent bought anything from them before. I asked if propane counted. Then she transferred me to Shauna the credit manager and she was very rude. I asked if I could finish my sentence before she cut in bc her and the other lady were cutting me off. She then decided to not talk at all when I asked her if she wasnt going to speak now... She rudely states shes just making sure Im finished talking first so she wont but in. I told her that shes clearly aware that I was finished with my sentence so lets just not go there. But with her rude behavior aside, I was set up on auto pay but every month they put a $500 hold on my a checking account for 2-3 days... before they deliver my propane and instead of basing the estimated amount of delivery off of my usage, they go by the size of my tank alone. The most Ive ever needed was $187. So, I will ALWAYS have a $500 hold... Unless I apply for credit with them. This is a bad way to do business. Especially how rude Shauna is over the phone... Im now looking for another propane company and will be cancelling my service here mainly bc of Shauna the credit manager but also bc they shouldnt put a hold on my account like that when they have my card on file.

The place to go for your lp gas to get refills. Plus they sell gasoline and diesel at self serve pumps.

My review is really in regards to the work done by Adam. He worked the entire day and even stayed until 7:30 to complete the installation. He had one part he still needed to install when he left because they change the system for 120 volt to 24 volt. He did return to my home early in the morning and I was back in business with hot water. He cares about his work and the quality was job number one. In regards to Amtrol, that is another story. My 1st one lasted 23 years. (No Complaints here) It went bad and was covered by my lifetime warranty. We had it replaced in 2016 and the new one FAILED in September of this year (2019). Only three years. In addition they discontinued the WH7 model and all the plumbing had to be moved from the bottom to the top, taking a complete day for the installation. This will cost me more and in just three years. I will be contacting Amtrol requesting some relief for this but have no high hopes. Sure they replace the unit but I have to cover the cost of installation, the pain of it leaking for days and making mess in by basement I had to keep cleaning up.

The only place we buy gas anymore. If you havent looked at ethanol free gasoline you really should consider it. Southern States has all 3 grades of ethanol free gasoline, and especially if you must run high test like I do its almost the same price as the high test you buy from a normal fueling station that has 10% ethanol in it. Its a no-brainer!

Very competitive gas prices. Offer E-85 gas, no ethanol gas, and high octane diesel. Only problem is the occasional wait for a pump!

Called to get propane prices and Southern States in Harrisonburg was $0.30 cheaper than the rest. Just trying to get a price over the phone was difficult and it only got worse from there. Save yourself alot of time and headache and just get your propane needs from someone else. It was a disaster from beginning until I gave up trying to get propane from them. Life is too short to deal with people who do not care if they sell propane or not.

Super quality fuel! Just wish I could have got more than $90 per credit card transaction.

Horrible customer service. These folks can mess up just about anything in no time at all. Their propane service is absolutely horrible! Irvin, the general manager is condescending, rude and prone to make major mistakes as is the rest of the staff here. Messages left for them dont get returned. Billing is incorrectly constantly and theyll blame you for their mistakes. Stay away from this company at all costs!!!!!

Their propane service is downright terrible. And the management is even worse than their service. Dont bother wasting your time dealing with their excuses and lies.

Do not use their propane service. Just do not do it. Dishonest practices and office billing errors and delivery errors are extremely common with this company. And they never own up to their mistakes or make anything right at any point. They will likely even blame you for anything that goes wrong even if they are the one who messed up. Even if the price is better here than at other local propane providers, it is worth it to pay more for the cost of the propane rather than deal with their constant mistakes. Besides, youll end up paying more in the end when your pipes freeze because they forgot to deliver propane even though you were on auto-fill service. Any messages you leave with anyone in the office will take weeks or months to be returned, if they ever are even returned.
