From a quality standpoint, everything was great. That said, Im not a fan of the size of the shop (feels a bit claustrophobic) and its a bit more expensive than ideal. Im used to expensive coffee so I wont knock that out too hard, but the food was more expensive than expected. $7 for a breakfast sandwich is on the high side. Dont get me wrong, it was a very good breakfast sandwich but its about $1-1.50 more than ideal.

Went to Story and Soil today, and they weren’t kidding about good coffee and better community. After we got our coffee, my car wouldn’t start and a barista, Skylar, immediately came out to help us start it. Another person there brought cables to jump it and they so sweetly sent us on our way. The atmosphere was great, the people were so kind, and the coffee was exceptional :) thank you!

Literally the most amazing and adorable little coffee shop we’ve been in on our trip from New Jersey to New York! The atmosphere, people, outdoor seating, drinks, and food were all spectacular.Let’s just say we ate one cookie and craved more. We literally chugged the loose leaf black tea that tasted like the best black tea we’ve ever had to drink before. My best friend savored her almond latte. Anddddd the only thing we didn’t really care for that we ordered was the cheddar biscuit. Looks amazing. Taste is a bit bland for our liking. But still good overall.

Tasty libations in a cozy and spunky space. A local Hartfordian took me to Story and Soil and talked the shop up quite a bit before our arrival. Thankfully, the shop didn’t let his high praises down. They boast several local coffee beans to choose from along with multiple brewing options and a small menu of food items. I didn’t notice any vegan/gluten free/specialty food items; this lack is one of the reasons I’m not awarding them a 5/5.I was pleased to see kombucha and golden milk on the menu, demonstrating the forward thinking minds behind the shop. They also offered a wide array of dairy alternatives suitable for almost any diet. They don’t roast beans in house, but do source from local Connecticut roasters, promoting community amongst potential competitors. The space is cozy with several seating options indoors as well as several picnic style tables outside which are ideal when the weather in favorable.Parking on the street is newly metered parking, so bring your quarters, but it’s well worth the parking fee to grab a drink and a seat to do some Dino sightseeing amongst the decor.

(And that is saying something for a first visit!!) There is music playing and plenty of chatter. I liked that they have a lot of options for drinks and foods. Vegan options too! I got the hot matcha green tea latte with almond milk, but I had a few other milk options, too. 10/10

This is a cute little shop with pretty good coffee and eats. First time there I ordered a flat white and while it wasnt the best Ive ever had it was still a a solid cup. My wife had the Avo on toast and she said it was good except for the egg on top was completely cold. It wasnt bad per se just unexpected. Presentation was impressive. Well certainly be returning to try some other items on the menu.

My partner and I had an enjoyable experience this morning at Story and Soil! We tried a plain hot latte with skim milk, a hot vanilla latte, a slice of blueberry zucchinni bread, a peach cobbler muffin, and a CEC (Chorizo, Egg, and Cheese) breakfast sandwich. Service was friendly, and we enjoyed our purchases outside on picnic tables in front of the shop. The coffee is from Giv coffee, a local CT roaster, so if you enjoy Giv coffee you will enjoy Story and Soils! Overall, we were pleased with our expereince. The only drawback to our visit- another patron was smoking on the patio (not on the sidewalk, inside thhe fence) whie we were eating. This resulted in a coughing fit and us having to quickly leave, as I have asthma. It would be wonderful if the shop had no smoking signs, but I dont know how easily they would have been able to monitor this as it is a small crew of employees. But if there is anything they can do, that would be great for future visits!

If you are remotely concerned for the pandemic or general sanitary conditions, do NOT go here. I witnessed an employee touching and preparing food with one gloved and one bare hand, who then was hostile to me when I called this out as unsafe protocol. Witnessed multiple customers inside wearing masks incorrectly on chins and employees not enforcing proper mask wearing. Ventilation was very poor inside. If this business wants to survive, employees need to properly adhere to state guidelines.

I read about this place online and decided to give it a try. On a Wednesday morning I was greeted by a genuine and friendly staff. The true test of any coffee shop is their drip, served black. I was blown away by how good the coffee was. Light roast beans from Ethiopia, brewed to the perfect strength, served piping hot. The room itself is quite small, so youll get to know your neighbors. I can see it being crowded on a weekend. I travel quite a bit for my work and finding good coffee is always a challenge. Story & Soil exceeded expectations. Ill be back!

Finally we saw they posted on facebook and instagram closing after 3/21.... well I dont follow them on social media and I guess I should have completely researched this before ordering?
