I cant say enough about the crew at the Stereo Shop. I recently purchased a new McIntosh stereo system and I couldnt be happier. If you are looking for high quality audio equipment this is the place to go. With a lifetime of experience in the audio equipment business these guys provide service and a knowledge of audio equipment that is unmatched in the industry. I checked prices online and looked in the big box stores. The sales people in these places dont know what a real stereo system is. Friendly honest advise, high quality equipment, fair pricing and great service is what you get at the Stereo Shop.

I am a first time buyer of high end home stereo equipment. I did as much possible reading and searching online as I could manage but I still couldnt get all the answers I was looking for. I went to other consumer electronic stores and no one could give me the answers I was looking for until I went to The Stereo Shop. I told Phil (I think hes the owner or primary sales person) what I was looking for and he gave me every spec of every piece of equipment I needed from memory! He even had the model numbers and most all the specs memorized. He knows his stuff! They took all the time needed to explain every question I asked in great detail. I was not rushed even when I was there close to closing time, and when I asked for alternatives for various price options they gave me every level of option I could imagine. Phil wrote it all down and was incredibly helpful (no pushy sales gimmicks). The prices were spot on with the market price. You dont have to pay for shipping if you order from them, and while I did pay CT taxes, I believe it was more than a fair price to have the confidence that Im getting the best legit equipment from a legit authorized dealer of high end audio equipment. The customer service couldnt have been better. Im very cautions and skeptical when I make big purchases, and The Stereo Shop has earned my trust. I would highly recommend anyone looking to piece together a first time high end home theatre or stereo system you should go to The Stereo Shop and talk to Phil.

You can physically shop your prospective products. See them,feel them to determine the quality. You just dont get that with amazon.

Wow what a cool store very helpful staff and too of the line service and equipment

These dudes are very experienced but full of garbage. Brought a turntable to them for servicing. Didnt hear from them for 32 days. I had to call them and they said, oh you need a new tonearm thats going to cost over $300. Asked why I didnt get a call from them? He said we are really busy. There is no excuse for poor customer service. Plus found brand new tone arm for $60. They think they are the only shop in the area that can fix dj equipment but they are not. Found another shop that will customize & service my equipment with better customer service. I will never refer these guys to do any work. The worse Ive ever had to deal with in 30 years. DO NOT USE THEM

Awesome shop, Phill was very friendly and demod some stuff for us. He was very informative and straight to the point. The place was very clean and beautifully put together. I did feel the room with the McIntosh and B&W 800s could have been a little bigger.. but I really cant complain. The place was awesome! I highly recommend!

After an expensive lesson and a strange encounter with a salesperson, Ive steered clear of The Stereo Shop. I would recommend that prospective customers do the same. In an attempt to support local shops, I purchased what I was told was a fully refurbed and functioning Thorens TD160 MKII turntable in 2018. A refurb of this model usually retails for $600. Stereo Shop charged me $900. It ooked clean and had a new stylus. But through a series of problems including a bad grounding wire and faulty motor, I quickly learned that we had different ideas of what it means to refurbish HiFi gear. After repeated frustrations with the turntable, I wound up trading it in at another shop for half the price last month. I had also ordered a new McIntosh integrated amplifier from the Stereo Shop, but they told me it would be weeks before they could get it. I soon learned that a shop up the highway had the same integrated amplifier in stock. So I exercised my right as a consumer and cancelled the order at The Stereo Shop. Still, I told them I would take the Thorens turntable. When I went to the store to pay for the turntable, the salesman said something to the effect of Im not even supposed to be selling this to you. The owner of the store is mad that you cancelled the order for the McIntosh and told me not to sell anything to you. What? Seriously? Pretty strange and arrogant. Ive done the owner a favor and not returned to spend my money there. I wish I would have just walked away from the Thorens turntable, too.

Helpful staff with a wide selcrion of high quality gear that can be listened to in store.

Brought my Technics SL-D3 in yesterday because I had a lot of noise coming from the left channel. The owner took a look at the needle and noticed it was worn and sold me the cartridge I wanted without trying to up sell me on anything. He installed it for me and was great to talk to. Very knowledgeable, nice guy.Ive thrown some records on since then and it sounds superb. Could not be more satisfied with the service here.

You can see why shops like this are going the way of the dinosaur. Sales people are snooty and pretentious. Prices are high and if you ask for a discount they look at you as if you have 3 heads. First and last time Ill ever waste my time going there.
