They quoted 1/2 the price than total charge, i wasnt informed about the hidden fees, 1 hr truck travel charge, 250$ on material, 50$ on gas for less than 15 mile travel. on top of it all they charged my credit card twice. I was told they charge ~400$ initially then they take rest after move, instead initially charged 1500$. I am planning to move again in few months definitely staying away from this company.
From the consultation to the day of the move everything from long island moving and storage was phenomenal. Working with the dashing young man Robert was amazing. I have never used a moving service prior to this so I was a bit worried, but he assured me that it will be quick and painless. The movers showed up on time and moved my all my things from Long Island City to the the Upper West Side within 3 hours. They were quick, careful, and just all around nice guys. My most fragile belongings are just as perfect as they were before the move.Next time I need to move, without a doubt I am giving Long Island Movers a call
The movers were great, no issues there. My main issue is with how our move was managed. We were told an estimate. ~$2K. We were told we would be charged half before the move and half after. We were charged the full amount before the move and then another ~$1K+ after the move. With the explanation that they had improperly estimated the weight. They were moving our stuff out of storage from which we had a complete itemized list, which we gave them to do the estimate. Not sure how they feel comfortable giving people estimates with an error of 50%+.....Based off the reviews here and on yelp it seems like this is their business model. Provide an estimate that is cheaper than other moving companies and then say their estimate was off by 50% after the fact...Really untrustworthy business.
In June of 2019, I contacted Rob at Long Island Moving and Storage and explained that we would be moving our 1 bedroom apartment to our new apartment a few miles away. I gave a detailed explanation of the rooms that would be moved. I was quoted $625 and told that the entire move could be completed by 2 men in 4 hours (plus 1 hour of travel time.) The day of the move, the movers were several hours late. When moving our king-size mattress, they decided to fold it, and then wrap it. We immediately intervened and asked them to unfold it so that it would not get damaged. It did get damage nonetheless, and handles on both sides of the mattress were ripped off. We were told we could put in a claim. The move took over eight hours with travel time, instead of the four quoted to us, and hence cost significantly more. Our $625 quote became $1,081 and we were required to pay them in cash. The day after the move we noticed that the bottom shelf of our coffee table had been cracked. We contacted the company and Rob told us that someone named Diane, who works in the claim department, would call us shortly. Weeks went by; we followed up several times, and Diane never called. (It has now been months since the move and Diane has still not called.) We followed up again and we were told to put in a claim on their website. The claim form required notarization, but when we called to ask how they would like us to notarize an online form we were again told that we would receive a follow-up phone call. Weeks went by and we were never called. We called again, spoke to Rob’s father and we were told to print a copy, notarize it, and resubmit the entire claim online. We immediately did this and resubmitted the claim. Again, more weeks went by and no one followed up. We continued to follow up and Rob and his father, presumably the owner of the business assured us they would look into it and return our call. We were promised a return call within 24 hours. Unfortunately this never happened. It has now been over 5 months since the move and no one has called us back, or settled our claim for our damage. We have contacted this company a minimum of 15 times and have been ignored. We even put in a complaint with the Better Business Bureau and they wont respond to that either. They dont care about you, your possessions, or their reputation.UPDATE: In response to Bobbys comment below, I already submitted the claim form twice.
Excellent moving company. Used them for my move within Hoboken, NJ and had an exceptional experience. They arrived on time and ready to work. They wrapped all of our furniture accordingly and with ease. All of the men were very friendly and nice and hardworking. They took all of our furniture to our new apartment and set everything up exactly how we asked. They made it look simple and really made a stressful moving day turn into a pleasant experience. Would HIGHLY recommend them!
Long Island Moving & Storage lived up to all of the horror stories that you have ever heard about moving companies. First they have you fill out an online survey of how much you have to move and ask you to tell them how many boxes you will be moving. As I explained in a follow-up phone call to them, I am not a professional mover. I cant possibly know how much will fit in a box in order to estimate how many boxes I will need, or how much they will weigh. I asked for someone to come over to do a site survey. I even requested their packing service that they offered ahead of time. I was told that it was not needed based upon my description of items. Next came the second scam of the lowball estimate. They quoted me a fee of $1550.00. I was told that my move would not meet the minimum required weight limit and I was given a price sight unseen. Of course they sent a gigantic truck and after moving from NY to Maryland I was told that my items were over the estimated weight and the Long Island Moving & Storage fee went from $1550 to $6,358. Thats more than 4 times the quoted amount. They tried to demand cash or a certified check from me before unloading, claiming that they couldnt process a credit card because the office was closed. Well so are banks, not that I was in agreement with the extortion. Finally in order to get my belongings I was forced to sign the receipt paid in full with my credit card information. They are professional scam artists and should be avoided at all cost.
Just got finished with our move last week hiring Long Island Moving & Storage for the job. Great movers, very positive experience! They arrived on time, you could see the moving men were very experienced and friendly. The entire relocation was completed the same day as waspromised. No damage, and the final price we paid was right in line as originally estimated. We would highly recommend this mover to anyone looking for a responsible honest moving company!
My wife and I recently were forced to move and needed to find a mover that could meet our short notice. We vetted several moving companies who came to our home and proposed written estimates and then we found Long Island Moving & Storage who had a different approach. They have the moving thing all figured out and in the end more accurate in their estimates and more affordable. They had an extremely comprehensive online form that allowed us to spec out room by room all of our materials. This saved everyone a lot of time and easily differentiated themselves from the competition. We had no hesitations when selecting their services. The owner Bobby contacted us right away first by email then by phone was very helpful and walked us through the process, the costs and the expectations. On the day of the move they carefully wrapped all of our furniture and transported everything to our new place with no issues. The owner also called us after the move to follow up with the service! I would like to recommend their service to others that may be seeking moving services.
Long Island Moving and Storage made our move smooth and easy. They showed up on time, were friendly towards family members helping with the move and delivered all my furniture in excellent condition from my apartment to my new house. They helped make a stressful time, stress-free. Would definitely recommend and use again !
This moving company was recommended by a friend, and Im very happy I went with them. I was moving a 5 bedroom house from NYC to northern PA. All my furniture and belongings were packed very well and loaded onto trucks and secured carefully. Everything arrived in perfect condition and was unloaded into my new house just as carefully as it was packed. Everyone I dealt with was very friendly and helpful. I would definitelly recommend Long Island Moving & Storage to anybody who needs to move!
I came into this thinking moving is one of the most stressful things in life. Im happy to say with Long Island Moving it was anything but. I just moved out of my parents house and was terribly nervous about the whole ordeal till I spoke with Adeline on the phone. I was assured that the move would be done quick and clean, and they did just that. Great service for the price, well worth it! Thanks guys! Ill recommend you to anyone I know!
I highly recommend Long Island Moving and Storage. Reasonable prices, responsive staff, wonderful day of moving experience. They made moving incredibly easy. The ongoing communication and professional service was very reassuring. I would definitely recommend them to friends and family.
Do not trust!!!!! I wish I could give one star. This company lied on the phone about their storage costs. They said they would prorate the storage. They charged the full month (850$) for 8 days. They had “estimated” based on how much furniture etc I had, that is would be 350$ for a month. This is inexcusable. DO NOT USE!
Here is what you can expect from this company. The actual price to be 2-3x the quote, for the movers to move at a snails pace, for the movers to sit on your furniture in the truck playing on their phones while billing you for that time, the use of slang, saying they wont place items in certain rooms and for them to drop your furniture. Thats just the start, additionally when you reach out to the company after the move they do not respond to emails or calls. Horrible service, the only thing they did right was decently protect the furniture. Dont fall for the family owned, scam.
After calling several companies for my apartment move I settled on Long Island Moving. My initial contact with them was handled professionally and they explained what I could expect the move to cost in detail. My moving date was confirmed a couple of days before hand, gave me some tips about packing and they answered all of my final questions. The job itself went off without a hitch and the men we very helpful and courteous to the very end of a long day. I would definitely use them again if the need arises.
I have used Long Island Moving & Storage twice and my experience has been a positive one both times. I would highly recommend LIMS for their excellent, prompt and most professional service. They were not only very reasonable with pricing, but courteous and reliable. The staff and movers were extremely helpful with supplying me with boxes and helpful to arrange my furniture in my apartment and my house. Long Island Moving & Storage truly offered my family and I the white glove treatment!!
Moving is never an easy thing to do. However Long Island Moving & Storage had made this task as easy and smooth as possible. Price was right, office personnel was pleasant and helpful, and the movers were professional. Everything worked out real well. Would not hesitate to use or recommend this company again.
Just moved my sons furniture to Brooklyn and miss him already! I asked the movers to take good care of his belongings because they were family heirlooms from his grandmother. They wrapped everything so well and put everything back together perfect. Ive moved my stuff a lot and highly recommend LI Moving and Storage to all my family and friends.
I recently moved and I call Long Island Moving and Storage Inc to help me with my move. It was the greatest decision I made on getting this great moving company. I must say they are very professional. The communication leading into my move date with the company was great. They made my move very smooth. The group of workers that did my move were very professional, was on time and worked great as a team, which is something you would ever want from a moving company. The packaging and securing all my prize belonging was unbelievable. If I was to move again, I know what moving company Im calling. I would HIGHLY recommend Long Island Moving & Storage Inc. Im happy and Im sure they will make you happy as well. Thank you again
Horrible moving company! If I could post this with negative stars I would. We asked them to pack some of our things and the way they packed the items was by literally just throwing them in boxes. All of our clothes arrived wrinkled and were dumped out of the boxes by LI Moving into heaps. (They took back the boxes.) Many items were damaged from the way that the company packed them. Furniture was damaged. They arrived to the destination hours after they should have, thereby overcharging for the travel time, and when we called the company to complain about the service, I was hung up on, and never received a call back. The final fee they charged was about twice the estimate. Dishonest, incompetent and poor service are only a few of the nicer things I could say. Do yourself a favor and look elsewhere for your move.
Horrible experience, beware of this company. They advertise a $700 for 5 hours (4 hours + 1 hour for driving to and from house). After filling out a form they claim that they cant give an estimate (naturally they dont send anyone out to size the job). I had a two bedroom apartment that was 1/2 to 2/3 packed. When they arrived they didnt have Masonite (stuff put on ground to not hurt carpet) and said we dont usually use this and didnt know about it. I was never asked about it although this is their business. They sent the truck and one of the three men back to the facility. TWO HOURS later the guy returns with not enough Masonite to do the job! We had to get it from the Supper of the building. Then they were VERY slow. At $140/hr and $210/hr for overtime. It cost $2,446!!!! Then they wanted a tip of 20+%!!! This wound up costing me over $2,850!! Outrageous! I dont want others to get suckered like I was. By the way, they said they could not give an estimate...the form brought to me said $1,800 estimate and that was printed out before they came to my apartment.
By far, the worst moving company we have ever used. They came late and wasted almost 2 hours of moving time and charged us for it. They stored our furniture and charged US a security deposit! When given their tip ahead of time because my husband had to go back to work, they complained and said it was not enough to split with their 5 guys! And believe me, he tips very well. When we finally moved into our home, the way they wrapped our furniture was so poor that the bottom sides of our dressers were scraped down to the bare wood and they even managed to dent the top of my dryer! I would not recommend them to anyone!!!We were overcharged and called for an explanation, the woman was nasty and condescending. We had to wait almost 4 days to receive our credit on a debit card!! These moving companies need to be controlled. They are overpriced!!
Its so important these days to let people know of our good experiences with the companies we use so I wanted to that for LIMS. I have used them a few times for myself and each time I received the same service which has been fantastic starting with my first call to them. The crew arrived at the time I was told and were very accommodating and polite throughout the move. I have referred them to friends who have only had the same experience and will continue to use and refer them to anyone I know. Thank you for taking the stress out what could have been very stressful.
Very shady....they quoted us $660 for a small move with a small truck and a 2 man team.instead they sent a massive truck, 3 guys, and an estimate that was nearly triple the amount they quoted us originally.and it was a Sunday so their office was closed and no one was answering the phone.they clearly had subcontracted out the job and gave totally wrong info to the subcontractor.in the end we had no choice but to use them because it was the day of the move and we had no other options. We emailed them and call them and have yet to hear back.
This moving company was great!! This was my 3rd move with them and each time I was very pleased. Each move had different situations going on that made it very stressful for me. The office staff (Robby & Adeline) was so helpful and patient with me which helped with my stress. Ive dealt with 1 crew for the first 2 moves and a different crew for my last. Each crew handled my furniture with care, no damage! I would definitely recommend Long Island Moving to all my friends.
Long Island Moving Company moved my Mom from Massapequa to Haddam, CT. I contracted with them because they are a family business. Their phone support was excellent as well as their movers. The movers took great care of moms belongings and did a great job loading and unloading. I am very pleased with my experience and would recommend them to others.
They subcontract the job out, and the price i was quoted was 300 less than what they charged. The movers that showed up were prompt and courteous and did a good job, just wish the estimate was closer to the real price. I wAs never told i would be billed 65.00 for a tv, 150 for tolls, fuel charge or even charge for some tape they used to cover blankets. Like i said they movers themselves did a great job just need to be more open abt pricing.. thnx
Joe and his crew were fast and courteous. A pleasure to deal with.
Movers arrived on time, were courteous and careful. They worked quickly and pricing was as described on website... Would definitely use this company again.
We used Long Island Moving to pick up furnishings & deliver to multiple sites. They did exactly what we contracted for, and delivered the items on time & in perfect shape. I would definitely use them again.
This was my first time moving. It was from Suffolk to Queens, which was a little nerve racking for me but after dealing with Bobby I felt a little better about this move. He had answered all my questions which I had a lot. The men that came which there was 3 of them worked their tails off. I did have a lot of stuff and I was going to a 3rd floor. I have to say that this company definitely made me feel better and then seeing how they worked made this experience not so crazy. I will recommend them to anyone I know whos moving.
I have been using Long Island Moving and Storage for the past 20 years, and I highly recommended them if you are planning on moving. So give them a call you wont be disappointed.
I recently moved from hauppauge to Melville and used this company. I couldnt have been more pleased with the service. They were on time, polite and made what would usually be a stressful situation a pretty easy and stress free one. They took apart my furniture and rebuilt it as if they designed the things themselves. And when I told them that I was afraid I would have to leave a large piece of furniture because It wouldnt fit they moved it with no problem at all. I strongly recommend these guys. They are the definition of professionalism.
The move was in Nov 2014. There was a hidden charge to move our washer and dryer. The crew chief kept saying how they worked mostly for tips and pushed for a generous one. They tore the electric service off of our old house, when backing out of driveway and did not even want to acknowledge it. We had to pay what our insurance didnt.
Great company! We used L.I moving a couple of months ago, on our friends recommendation, for our move from a big house to a smaller house in Nassau County. Devon ( I think thats his name) and his crew showed up right on time on the day of the move and handled everything with care and got us out of the old house and into the new one in less time than I had expected. We bought them lunch but they basically ate standing up because they wanted to work straight through. If you call, ask for Bobby or Diane. They handled all of my calls and couldnt have been better to work with. We definitely recommend Long Island Moving!
I dont usually give reviews but my experience with L.I. Moving & Storage was an excellent one!! Im a very picky lady. I was reassured that all my things would be handled with extra care(as they were). I have alot of fragile collectables so I was in a panic with the wrapping n packaging. I have to tell you everything was packed and unpacked as if it were their own. Well I suggest you give them a call for your next move, You wont regret it :)
I hired Long Long Island Moving for my daughter to move her furnishings from Manorville, Long Island to her new house in Watertown, Mass. The moving crew arrived promptly and was very courteous. The crew loaded their truck quickly and carefully. The crew arrived at Watertown very quickly and proceeded to unload the truck in a prompt manner and brought the furnishings into the house and placed them where instructed to. Everything was in tact and no damage. Best of all the moving fee was at least fifty percent lower than other moving companies I had contacted and I had contacted at least ten other moving companies. I would not hesitate to use Long Island Moving again if I am in need of any future moving services.
I contracted Long Island Moving and Storage to move my apartment from Sayville to Coram, Long Island. To begin with; I was given a time of 8AM-9AM on 5/10 which was told to me the morning of that the movers called in sick and would not be able to keep this appointment. I would not have a place to live, so I begged them to find someone to move my apartment. The rude office lady (Adeline) called me back and confirmed they had movers to do my apartment between 1130AM-12:00PM. The movers showed up at my apartment; greeted me and explained the job would cost 600 dollars and that a 30 dollar tip per person is appreciated. What service talks about tip before a job is completed? The move - They started packing up the old apartment. Everything I asked the movers to do was met with grunting as if I annoyed them. This made the whole experience very uncomfortable. The unloading of the old apartment went well with no hitches other than what I just previously stated. I met them at the new apartment and the grunting continued. Everything was a problem with them and seemed to annoy them, definitely not a good customer experience. The movers used my tools without asking, luckily they gave it back. As they unwrapped the furniture, they asked where the dumpster is and I directed them the nearest one. I opened up my front door to notice they left it all at the front door!! They unloaded the truck and I noticed that the big screen TV was missing. The head mover told me that I need to sign the papers and produce payment before they could bring the last piece of equipment. WHAT????? Basically; I have to sign the job complete, hand over payment and if the TV is damaged or anything I would be out of luck. How is that fair? I asked to speak to a supervisor but the mover refused and told me that nobody is available. Called the office after the move - I called the office and spoke to the same RUDE office worker Adeline who could careless about my problems. She just basically spoke over me and didnt try to resolve my issues. All I got from her was Im taking down notes I asked to speak to a supervisor or manager and apparently none are available to take call and would call me back at 11AM on 5/12. She told me they have a cell phone, but I guess my issues werent important enough to call them and get them to contact me back. STAY AWAY!!!!!!!!!!!!!! YOU HAVE BEEN FOREWARNED!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
EVERY single time without fail when I need assistance, EVERY person gives me an attitude. They never call you back when they say they will and they are HORRIBLE on the phone, i dont need an attitude when im trying to figure out their standard procedures and proccess. Its not my job there fore i shouldnt hvae to know how they operate... hence why i ask questions.. that result is terrible mannors and attitudes. Horrible experience and They charge $400 if I have to show up with a pick up truck and pick my own stuff up?????
The absolute worst experience I have ever had with any company. Movers broke several items, hid the items that they broke, and when I filled out a claims form the next day nothing was done. This occurred at the end of July and it is now October. I have contacted the company MANY times both by phone and e-mail, only to just recently find out that all the information needs to be resubmitted. Some of the staff that I have gotten on the phone was nice until my call just today, where the woman did not seem to care for my concerns and responded to me in a condescending way. Dont ever expect to get a call back, and any e-mails take forever for a response if any. I know this post will probably be taken down, but if it even helps to warn one person of the headache they can avoid, it will be worth it.
Don’t trust this company with your move. I wish I had read the yelp reviews before dealing with this company. Bobby (the owner) sounded reassuring during each conversation we had leading up to moving day. I reserved a date over a month in advance after getting an fair estimate. I checked in twice the day prior to confirm that things were on track, only to find out the DAY OF MY MOVE that Bobby “could not find a driver.” Moving day is stressful enough, but it becomes a nightmare when the “professionals” are a NO SHOW!! Bobby explained that he is just trying to be candid (though it seems to not have occurred to him to be candid when booking the move the month prior or when verifying with him the day prior). Bobby tried to console me that there were 5 other people in the same position I’m in —with jobs that he was unable to staff (as if Long Island Moving leaving other people stranded somehow made it any better!!)If you want a low-stress move, look elsewhere!!
Dishonest!Final invoice was $1650 but after I challenged the time and packaging charges the total was reduced to $1451.Time charge 7 hrs for 930 to 430 - did not exclude 30 mins for lunch.Total of 40 boxes were charged. I asked for a count and it turned out 15 boxes were usedThis move was $500 more than what it cost us to move in. Without any major additions in furniture.Recommendation: check yelp reviews
I moved to my apartment in Astoria recently and used Long Island Moving & Storage Inc., They showed up on time did what they had to do and left. Quick and professional service, great experience, will use them again.
All my stuff got to its destination and they even transported my fancy bicycle safely which was a nice plus. However, communication was quite poor throughout the process. Among other complaints, there was confusion with my pickup date which led me to be charged additional fees. More egregious, two pieces of furniture were assembled improperly and several phone calls to both the mover and the office immediately after the move-in seeking remedy went unreturned. This was way below expectations of normal human behavior. I ended up driving over an hour to IKEA to get special screws for a table and, worse yet, fixing my improperly assembled fancy king size bed myself :( If theyre your only option, fine, otherwise try basically any other company. Further, my complaint over a month ago to the BBB has gone without response.
Long Island Moving has been a pleasure to work with!!!!! My family and I recently moved from Smithtown to Melville. We were extremely nervous and overwhelmed to move our 5,000 square ft home, but Long Island Moving made the move go off without a hitch. The crew members even helped my family and I pack on the day of the move! Needless to say, my wife and I will be recommending this moving company to all of our friends and family in the future!
I called Long Island moving and storage for a move from Freeport Long Island to Delray Beach Florida. I spoke with the owner and he met at the house Freeport. We went over the packing arrangements, scheduling, etc. I’d mention that we were thinking of drive down he said “you are crazy fly!” and he would arrange to have the cars transported. So we did! When we arrived at our new home or three cars were in the garages all the furniture was assembled in its place all the boxes were put in the proper rooms and his men were just finishing lunch. I went through the house with his foreman sign the last bit of paperwork and we were done! From Start to finish this was the best moving experience we ever had it was a pleasure working with the owner and his men as well.Al SinacoriDelray Beach
Very accommodating, even when the inevitable hiccup came along.
Exceptional moving company great customer service and employees
Had set up a move for 6/7 weeks in advance with a 8-9am start time. At 830 I saw a voicemail pop up on my phone saying that the service was cancelled due to workers calling in sick. I tried to call back multiple times and only reached an answering machine. I never received a call back from the company. If you are going to use a company on long island, men on the move was friendly, cheaper, moved me on a sunday, and took under 4.5 hours to do work that I thought was going to take 6.
