These guys are awesome. My experience was the complete opposite of all the negative reviews here so I thought I’d share. I made the mistake of buying a cheap Amazon bike, which was nothing but problems from the minute I unboxed it. Almost unrideable. But, you get what you pay for; lesson learned. Anyway, I had brought it to Riverside for a repair and they quickly showed me what was wrong compared to another bike they had. They didn’t try to upsell me or anything, just showed me what it would take to get it going. Having had a couple other problems with the bike, I returned it, got my money back, and went back to Riverside for a bike that I knew would last and fit my needs. Everyone there was enthusiastic about bikes and riding, and answered all of my dumb questions. I told them my budget and the bike I was interested in (a Trek Marlin 5) and not once did anyone try to talk me into a more expensive bike or something I didn’t need. They even pointed me in the direction of some great local trails and routes to check out. I bought my Marlin (awesome bike, BTW), and chatted a bit before they helped stuff it in my car so I could head out to ride. If you’re local and need a bike or repair, this is a great spot.
Best bike shop. Not only are they expert mechanics but they are truly honest people. They will listen to what you need and recommend only what makes sense. A great bike shop run by awesome people. Kurt is the best!
Friendly, helpful, good with kids bikes
Real pros, nice folks, very competent.
I bought a new bmx bike from them so happy I did. While ride my bike home got a flat went to them to fix it. As I waited for my bike I was lookin around at parts. My ride was ready in no time. As I left the store wit my bike road down the street got a flat walk the bike back to them yup I said they say noooo so they took the time to look at mt back tire an to find a rusty pin still in my tire. They gave me a brand new tire at no charge. Thanks had my new bike since2017 Big Thanks GT. Still got it 👍
Steer clear of this place, bad attitude
I called in August 2020 to see if they had a bike in stock. They did and, because this bike was sold out around the area, I asked the person on the phone to give me five minutes while I checked with the powers that be to make the purchase. Its hard to put into words but my request was met with the coldest response I have ever received from anyone. Sir, our bikes are on a first come first serve basis. Wow. I found the same bike at Colonial Bicycle in Portsmouth, NH and purchased it from them. They were fantastic at Colonial!Because this staff person was so rude at the sales point of my interaction with him, I cant imagine dealing with them AFTER I bought a bike (for service, warranty, etc)? I suggest steering clear of this place.
Would’ve loved to have given my local bicycle shop some business, beautiful day, hoping to get my daughter her first bike and get outside after so long being cooped up, the shop was open with an unlocked front door I walked in (with my face mask on) to have my head bitten off by a rude angry man yelling “No customers in the store!” Tried to ask how to proceed but again was yelled at. I guess I’ll head to Target... so much for the friendly neighborhood business. Put up a sign guys or at least be nice!
Great place for quick repairs. I’m back in Haverhill waiting out quarantine with my parents and have had some bad luck with my road bike recently (broken spoke and a punctured tube). Both repairs were done within the day and were far cheaper than the normal shop that I go to in Boston.
Called about a bike, Person who answered seem rude. I ask if I needed to leave a deposit for a bike that I was interested that was not in stock and he laughed at me. I was more then happy to leave a deposit. I ended Up ordering bike from different place.
I have bought 2 bikes here. The whole experience has been amazing. Kurt takes time for you and service has been flawless.
The team at Riverside are always so nice and super efficient. Had a small brake and derailer issue...they took care of it straight away and the cost is super reasonable.
I have been very interested in buying a bike. I drive by Riverside Cycle often, and thought I would give them a call to support them during this crisis. A gentleman answered the phone. I asked, I was curious if you were open for business today? His reply was, Well obviously, in a snarky tone. During these challenging times of COVID-19, I would have expected a bit more appreciation that someone was willing to support a small business. I understand that you answered the phone, but maybe you were not allowing people in for purchases. Maybe you were just there to clean up the shop and decided to answer the phone. I wouldnt treat my customers that way, nor would I tolerate my staff to treat customers that way. I understand everyone is on edge, and I apologize if you were having a bad day, but you should really consider your audience when you are speaking with them over the telephone.
There are few new bikes to be had so the store so I wasnt allowed in. But the repair folk made a minor fix on my bike while I waited - gratis. Quite a shock to see that due to the pandemic new bikes are mostly out of stock!
The team at Riverside is rock solid - I have bought many bikes (for me and the kids) from Aaron and his team over the past 15 years. Along the way the level of customer service has been nothing less than amazing. I have always felt like I am their most important customer - and whenever I visited the service Dept my level of satisfaction has been excellent. Most times they have dropped everything to be responsive and get me back on the road. I highly recommend this local bike shop - good stuff...
Thanks for the tune up and keeping riding fun
Called first, asked about the protocol, dropped off, in-and-out in about 20 minutes, excellent!!!
Really bad attitude. If it were just my experience I wouldnt write this but someone else received the same treatment.
Best Bike shop out there went to Ocean Cycles and they didnt have a tube they recommended Riverside and I waited outside while they fixed my bike . Very nice people, THANKS
Thanks so much to the fine folks at Riverside in Haverhill! Brought in my 16 year old Cannondale for a tune up, after it had been sitting in a dusty and dirty garage for the last three years...and a day and a half later it looks brand new! Cant wait to get back on it for a ride in our new home in New Zealand! Definitely recommend this shop for some fine service! Cheers!
My 19 year old son and I stopped in to check out bike options for him today. The salesperson seemed experienced and was very helpful with explaining the options of bike styles. We test rode a couple bikes and purchased one. The bikes were both well built and the ride was extremely pleasurable. Much better than I expected for the price, since I owned a Cilo back in the 80s! They also include a free adjustment after you use the bike for a month or so.The business is very clean and organized. This shop was previously a bike shop for many years, and it appears the old owners really looked hard to find the right people to take over.So far, I would definitely recommend you check them out if you are looking to buy or for service.
Quick repair and wheel tune for a bargain.
Nice place and has what you need and easy in and out
Knowledgeable staff, passionate bikers and cool people.
Had a tire go bad on the road. I stopped at Riverside, and they got me on the road in a few minutes, with little cost, good advice, and an excellent suggestion for the best route to where I was heading.
Very poor customer service and rude employee ... not worth it giving them any business
I never write reviews.Bought a new bike 3 weeks ago and after 2 weeks the brake cable broke or detached. I brought it in this morning and they repaired it while I waited and they did not charge me. They could have said it was a ware and tare part and charged me. Excellent service.
Terrible experience going into the Haverhill Riverside Cycle store. I went in to see if they had any Bontrager rear cargo racks for my Trek Verve. I know they carry these and I saw one on the floor. I asked a person working there to see any selection of Bontrager rear cargo racks. He looked at me confused and then showed me a car rack. I clarified and he said they didnt have any, even though I know they had at least one. The Trek website also lists this place as a vendor for Bontrager accessories. This person could not care less to assist me. On my way to my car, I saw him run out to meet some friends who pulled up in a Jeep with food for him. Priorities in the wrong place. I will NEVER go to Riverside Cycle in Haverhill again. Avoid it.
Formerly Schwinn. Has a great selection, but I had an issue with my bike and assistant manager? and will never return.
Ive always had an excellent experience at the NBPT store, having bought $3000+ worth of bicycles and other gear there and had superior (5 star) customer service both in sales and service over the past 21 years. My experience in Haverhill has not been as good. The two people on duty today seemed completely disinterested in my needs, arrogant, and condescending. Unless you want to be treated like dirt, go to Newburyport and stay away from Haverhill.
They are friendly knowledgeable the service is great cant ask for a better bunch of guys
I went in to have my shifter worked on as it stopped working midway through the ride. The guy told me it was completely broken (without even handling it, just a three second glance) and I would need to replace it. Quoted me $300 bucks, or I would have to replace my entire groupset (derailleurs, shifters, etc.). Seemed like way too much money. Checked on the internet to see if anyone had any luck with fixing my particular shifter, found a few posts on reddit and the like, and fixed my shifter in an hour. Not sure if the employee was trying to screw me over or was incompetent
1. They did fix the issue with my rear derailleur. 2. They very unfriendly.Dont understand... Do you want my business? Do you want me to come back to service my bike? Not even the stereo type know it all bike shop jerk... just unfriendly people in general. Young kid that first helped me was nice but what I think was the owner took over fast and then just walked away as i was explaining what the problem was. The person that actually fixed my bike also wasnt very pleasant. Just bad vibes overall. Cost me $40 for a bent derailleur fix and adjustment. Dude didnt even say thanks just handed me the receipt and walked away.Guys life is too short to be dinks. Thanks for fixing my problem but ill never be back or recommend your shop. Good luck.
Rude and pretentious staff.
Or can get expensive but the service is quite great when it comes to fixing bikes.
Very helpful staff
Excellent Service!
Glad places like this still exist
