The selection is tragic, the donuts are dry, the customer service is plain awful, and half the time they never have anything anyways. It’s widely known in the community not to go in after seven in the morning. If you don’t want to serve the entire populace that could come in, then what is the point? There’s no reason to even have a “working” donut shop that doesn’t even do its basic premise.Oh, and you better have cash. Credit and debit cards aren’t accepted forms of payment.

Not sure Ive been to a more unfriendly place. Dont expect to be greeted with a smile or a Good Morning when you walk in. Not only do they not accept card, but theyre rude about it. Also make sure not to ask them about their selection, or what theyve got, because the lady blankly stared back at me as if I hadnt uttered a word. Its shameful for a company as historic and rooted in the community as this one, to treat people the way they do. Feels as if their entire business model is to sell to locals and locals only. Its amazing how much the shop could be improved by simply replacing the rude cashier. Seems like a place for the owners to hang out with the old locals more than anything. Probably the most incompetent food service in Hays and a complete joke. I feel unwelcome every time I go in there.

Ive been to daylight donut once in still water Oklahoma very nice. here in hays the lady was super rude an when Id ask if they had the sausage donuts. lady said yes an when I asked for 2 she straight up said in a rude tone that there none left. An older customers where giggling behind me.

Its difficult to get donuts there, which I feel shouldnt be the case with a donut shop. However, theyre great if you can get one. The lady at the counter was very pleasant to me, I know theres some mixed reviews regarding that.

Honestly only come here because i love the donuts but has probably the worst costumer service i have ever seen. the lady cashier greets you as if she has never seen happiness or daylight, which is tragic considering the name.

They do not accept cards which is weird, but the lady whos there most days (BRENDA) always acts super judgmental and just flat out rude. If that still doesnt bother you, then theres also pretty much no variety of donuts. Just the same 4 kinds of dry and boring donuts. If Im going to eat something unhealthy, then its going to be a cream filled long john from Caseys. Caseys donuts are astronomically better. Also it doesnt bother me, but nobody wears masks

You need new management to work with deaf people the fact that your management treated a deaf persons like they were trash and refused them Service is very sickening I will never bring my service back here ever again.

Out of all of the daylight donut places Ive visited in Kansas. This I this is the only one where they dont accept card. Very stupid and selection is awful. Very disappointed that this is a Daylight Donuts.

Get there early, before 8 am or call in an order a day ahead to ensure that you get donuts as they sell out quickly.

New to town, been here three times and it it gets worse every time.1st: 8am, theyre completely out of donuts, but seemed nice enough about it2nd: 5 am, ok Im going to go there early this time but didnt realize until after we ordered that they dont accept credit cards and the lady was very short with us like she wanted to get us out of there as soon as possible.3rd: 5:30 am ok maybe she was just not having a good day Its early, I throw on sweatpants. The lady (Brenda is her name apparently) is looking me up and down being so judgemental of me and my bf. Even the patrons sitting down inside seem to stop chatting to stare at us.I dont know why it is they seem to only serve elderly and Hays casuals with decency. Every person Ive talked to has had the same reaction.

They don’t accept cards—it’s 2020, who doesn’t accept cards?! Nothing like setting your alarm to get some fresh donuts, driving there, picking out the donuts, and then getting told they only accept cash! The lady wasn’t even friendly about it so I will never be returning.

Please explain to me how a donut shop-emphasis on DONUT- runs out of DONUTS in the wee early morning hours. My amigo and I had planned on indulging on some sweet tasty goodness for about 14 hours at this point when we were greeted with the unbelievable anguish of being denied our round fried goodness. Not only this, but there were pigs in a blanket that were not offered to us despite our eyes clearly indicating that we would like some food. Will not be giving a second chance.

The help is personal and this is definitely a place with regulars, I absolutely love seeing the happy company that is kept here. Daylight donuts has always been a fave for the small town feel, and Im so happy to see that it still exists in Hays Ks.

Lady was pretty rude. Id rather take my business elsewhere rather than deal with mean people in the morning.

If you want any donuts you’d better call and preorder the day before. The same locals start showing up about 4:30am everyday and they are “sold out” of donuts by 8:30 am. Which is unfortunate because they are delicious when you can get some!I have yet to try their lunch specials.

Nothing like a western Kansas Daylight Doughnut. Brenda and the guys are some of the nicest people you could ever meet. Greet there early, call ahead with large orders.

Daylight donuts always has the moat incredible atmosphere and the staff treats you like family. Grade a service and even better food. If you are passing through or havent eaten there in a while its a worthwhile treat! 10 outta 10 would recommend again and again.

Horrible customer service. The lady that works in there is not customer friendly at all. I went at 5:30 AM and there was no selection of donuts. When I asked her about the type donuts I was looking for she treated me like a nuisance instead of having some customer service and trying to tell me when that selection might be done. Horrible place I will not be going back.

The selection was gone by 8 AM on Saturday. We had just driven to Hays and my son was really looking forward to donuts. The donuts we had were not that fresh either....

Oh my goodness! What an honor to review such a wonderful hometown donut shop. This place has been run by the same lady since about forever and let me tell you. She is just as cheerful and friendly now as she was 21 years ago when I first found this place, and boy does she ever know jer bismarcks... er um business. The donuts are always amazing. Just the right amount of sweet with pillowy soft insides and the filled and cinnamon flavored treats are good enough to not share. The price makes them shareable though so the only challenge is deciding which delicious pastries to take with you when you leave. Get there early though because they never last too long.

Worst service! Went in around 7:30am, all I wanted was a dozen donut holes and they were out already! The man ordering in front of me got what he wanted and then the lady asked if he wanted another one saved for him tomorrow. There was also a tray of other donuts that had some donut holes on it but those were for their regulars who they reserve donuts for! How pathetic! Make enough donuts for your regulars plus some for other people. The lady who works behind the counter is also very rude and treats you like a nuisance! Won’t be going back!

Delicious doughnuts, but as the store says, it is definitely Daylight Donuts. Most doughnuts sell out before 9:30, so if you want to get your hands on one of their delicious pastries, dont wait (or you may be left doughnut-less). Since Im not really a morning person, I wish theyd keep their supply of doughnuts running strong through the day, but I understand that they dont want to be stuck with uneaten doughnuts!

Strike 1- poor selection on most days Ive been, especially compared to other Daylight Donughts.Strike 2- completely out of doughnuts early on a Saturday around 7, like really? I wait 15 minutes for a fresh batch and when just one tray of glazed gets put out I dont get those, I get some hidden doughnuts from a box that were probably for someone else who had them on hold. Ummm id like the warm ones I waited for... ThanksStrike 3- can only pay in cash. So frustrating.Doughnuts taste good if you miraculously get what you want and staff is friendly and thats it.Be more like Garden City Daylight donuts and I wouldnt be so pissed.
