The names for their drinks drew me in immediately! I was initially going there for a Rick Ross but was compelled to try the McLoving Muffin as well. Let me tell you, this was a match made in heaven! The sweet iced cinnamon coffee paired with the pork sausage, egg & cheese sandwich married beautifully & will get this again. The artwork all over the restaurant and the windows is magnificent. I highly recommend anyone in downtown Hayward to check this place out. It’s located right at the bottom of the library. You need to go there today!
Hippies Brew hits the spot EVERY single time. This is my go-to coffee spot to support Black-owned business, and they never ever disappoint. I usually get the Rick Ross (less sweet if youre not into super sweet drinks like me!) With COVID, this location is outside and can get busy on weekends, but the wait is never too long. Keep in mind that these drinks are on the pricier side but DEFINITELY worth it.
Its small and a bit on the cramped side. Attached to the Hayward Library, I personally found it to be expensive and not as cute or cozy as other reviewers have stated. But Cest la vie, to each their own!
Cute coffee shop, has a couple tables outside. The coffee was good and service friendly. There was some wait but nothing out or the ordinary considering it was a Saturday during the Farmers Market (a block away)
Amazing sandwich..white Iverson coffee was also to die for. Good service..clean inside and out. Little pricy but worth it. Enjoy!! Totally loved the vibe ❤
The sugary drinks are fine, but its very difficult to get regular coffee that isnt loaded with sugar, since the coffee drinks are generally pre-mixed.
Some of the most delicious coffee weve had in the Bay Area since we moved here! I got In love with da coco and was highly satisfied. The hippie vibe inside was really cool too. It was clean, quick service, delicious breakfast food too.The only reason I didnt give it a 5 star rating is because seating inside (we are at the end of covid) was nonexistent, and seating outside was very meager as well. Other than that, great location to have breakfast or brunch.
This little shop is right next to the Library. I went as I was in town, close to Hayward, and decided to try it out!I had the McLovin Muffin and a Caprisun! Both delivered! The menu is very creative and has some funny references as names. It is very small inside, but there is also extra seats outside. It was busy when I was there, but the environment is amazing and lots of people took their pets as well!Give it a try!
I come here with my girlfriend and i gotta say this coffee does not disappoint!! good service as well.
Hippies? Really? Ok. I would describe the customer service in three words. PRETENTIOUS. RUDE. And DISMISSIVE. Listen, anyone that comes into your business is a SUPPORTER of your business. You don’t take their money with an attitude, give them dirty looks and make them feel uncomfortable. This was our first and last time here.
Normally don’t like sweet coffee, but this stuff is amazing. They make it easy to control sweetness, which I appreciated.
I love the vibe and everyone is so kind to you. The food is 😋
Fabulous coffee. great service and drinks.
The Freakin French Toast is a sandwich, split in 2, stuffed with egg, cheese, bacon and sausage. Just add a drizzle of syrup and its like youre having French toast and an egg sandwich at the same time. I cannot say this enough but it is deliciously perfect!! Hippies Brew definitely serves a good portion to fill you up.
You order outside the entrance from a friendly staff member at the kiosk. Everything felt super safe, especially with their sassy/cute floor stickers to enforce social distancing in lines. Theres a small section of merch for purchase and a few chairs and tables spread out throughout the sidewalk.
Once upon a time when this location was on foothill I would almost get random over just to go and get a freaking French toast and a large iced Rick Ross! They are now located inside of the Hayward library in a beautiful location on the corner Staff is very sweet and very fast. Overall is goos
I like Hippie Brew and my girlfriend loves them. Before Covid I would stop by here more often while doing work at the library. The staff has always been friendly, at every location current and former. The only reason for the dropped star is that it does wear on me. The menu is limited, cold brew cocktails only. No espresso drinks. If thats your thing you can even buy a jug and make your own at home. I keep some on hand for my girlfriend, for sure.So although I love their selection, some days theyre just too sweet for me. Id still recommend it to anyone whos seeking a good, local coffee spot. Better than St*rbucks drinks, for sure. But if youre looking for a less sweet espresso drink, Hippie Brew wouldnt be the place to go.(P.s.) I hope this didnt come off as too negative. Its a great spot. I just dont have a sweet tooth when it comes to coffee 😭
This was my first time here and if I move to the area, it definitely wont be my last time.
Poor service. All coffee is pre made, they offered to brew regula coffee for me and they gave it to me just plain, no sugar or milk offered.my daughter asked for a sticker for the place and they wanted to charge extra $2 dollars for a less than an inch sticker!Very poor customer service.👎🏽👎🏽👎🏽
Not sure why people go for a brand name coffee. This is one of my best spot. Never disappointing.
Great coffee. The menu is short and sweet and they have almond milk
This was my first Time and Im ALREADY in love! They have quite the variety of delicious drinks especially considering the limitations quarantine is putting on all of us.The ladies who helped me were incredibly kind, helpful and friendly. Everyone should be going to Hippies Brew, rather than the big chains.
Very popular, quirky local coffee shop with fun food options. Located in the Hayward Library building, with its own entrance, allowing it to open outside of library hours. The only drip coffee option within reasonable distance of Hayward. Their drop coffee and chai tea drinks are fabulous! Definitely try Ice Loves Coco and Yogi Chai.
My boyfriend found this place while we were passing through and WOW. I’ve never had a more delicious flavored coffee drink (I got the Rick Ross). Their Mcloving muffin breakfast sandwich has chipotle aioli and it adds such a great flavor to a breakfast sandwich! I highly recommend.
Been a Hippies Brew regular for over 3 years and they never miss! My go-to is Ice Loves Coco with extra coldbrew and my fiance gets RickRo$$ with extra coldbrew
Wow. So delicious.I finally tried this place after hearing nothing but great things and always seeing a huge line and I was definitely not disappointed.I tried the “I’m in love w/da coco” and the “c’me rollin’” and yummmmmmm! Can’t wait to go back (and get a large this time)! There’s a lot of competition for cafes in this area but Hippies Brew has found its place! Thanks for giving me a new local cafe to support apart from all the chains! 💜
First time got here and that thing was amazing. Their service and coffee both are awesome.
I had the white Iverson and mclovin and it was amazing.
Ive always wanted to come here, finally decided to make the trip. The Rick Ross is so good, Ill definitely be back for more!
Tasty though
Awesome place! Great food and unique and tasty coffee! Try out the Rick Ross and the McLovin sandwich!
FAVORITE PLACE FOR COFFEE!
Delicious coffee and breakfast sandwiches. People are great too. 🙂
This place is a gem. Ive had all of their drinks and food items and they are tasty. You cant really go wrong here. All drinks can be served hot and cold and the flavors are not compremised. My personal favorite drink would have to be the Rick Ro$$ its chocolatey and not overly sweet and for food items my go to is the McLovin with the sausage patty absolutely delicious. I would like to see a location open up in San Leandro.
This place, oh, this place. The staff is super welcoming, wonderfully helpful, and efficient as heck! As for the quality of the coffee and food: Pick anything off the menu, you can’t go wrong! I have never had a bad experience at Hippie’s Brew. I have had to set personal boundaries to keep from going there daily.
Its ok..food is kinda blan .and the drinks are ok
No drip coffee :( I get a plain black coffee every shop I visit, I shouldnt have to pay $5 for a cup of black coffee because its French press lol staff was very nice though
Very tasty coffee, it was so perfect coffee for me and with their delicious pastries
I love hippies brew, cold brew da coco
I think the McLovin Muffin got me pregnant. 😳So.SO. Good.☺️ Coffee is always good, too.
This place is amazing!! Tried it for the first time today. They moved locations and now are on C st. In Hayward. It is so much batter than Starbucks. I love there Rick Ross with Extra cream and there prices are great! Definitely recommend!
Best coffee and breakfast....hands down!
I wouldnt recommend, way way over priced, no seating inside or out, order outside and wait outside in the freezing cold for ever, they are so SLOW, I had never waited so long with like only 2 ppl waiting as well in my life.
I love this place.. I have been going here since their first location ... If you want great coffee, excellent teas then look no further. Youll thank me later
This place is the bomb, i come here and getting my morning coffee every other day, really friendly staff as well.
I got a sweet specialty coffee and.... wow!! Theyre doing something special here that ive never experienced at another coffee shop. Just divine. (Im usually take my coffee black.) Earns a 5 star rating.
Love hippies brew and the ice loves coco. Moving from the area and wont be able to order anymore...sad face
I love 💘going to Hippies Brew.
🔥🔥🔥 ... You cant go wrong here. Order one of everything.
Super friendly staff and delicious coffee. Also, make sure to get the freakn french toast its a must!
Hard to rate this - I loved the cinnamon French toast and blueberry Danish. Hated the disposable everything. Hardly in keeping with my image of hippy. Also missed espresso. I dont think even the French use French presses anymore.
Soft french toast and coffee is the best.
So good & fresh & fast.
Small and cool coffee shop. Lots of positive energy and impactful business that helps transitional employees from hard backgrounds
Love it. They have the most creative names for their beverages!!!! And all of them are delicious...❤Its nice that the shop its attached to the Hayward library.
Good food! Coffee was way too sweet. (And I like sweet things...) They allow you to customize sweetness but as a first-timer, I didnt know what to expect. Wait time is pretty long so if there is a line, expect a good 20 minute wait to order and another 10-15 minutes for them to prepare your food/drink.
Very clean place
Just amazing. We ate there five days in a row on vacation. I tried something different each day, and it was all excellent, but youve *got* to try the ham. slow cooked, spiral sliced, full of deliciousness. Give the scones a try, and the chive spread goes with absolutely everything. If you dont check it out, youre really missing out.
Amazing custom mixes a bit expensive though
Delicious food & drinks all good!
What a cute place and they have my favorite coffee with the so delicious bagels and some goodies. Clean place and staff were friendly and good customer service.
Long line moved quick, drinks came fast but food took a little longer. But it sure was tasty and excellent. I had the not so latte I think, so good, and most of the drinks come iced which is awesome. Food was terrific!
Traveling from San Fran to Yosemite and looking for breakfast options, found this awesome place. We had a variety of breakfast sandwiches as well as the French toast and coffee. The food was exceptional and the service even better. The owner was so delightful and so personable in getting to know her customers. I even got a hug from her as we we were leaving. Everyone needs to try this little hidden gem, you wont be disappointed.
Love it and would like to have a sit down with the woman behind it
I love this place,
Im not a big speciality coffee person and got dragged here. Much to my surprise I actually liked this place! The coffee and food is really good! I also liked how they had standing tables inside but seating outside.
Hippies Brew is a best of the best coffee spot. Excellent coffee and a huge variety of offerings plus food is pretty excellent. Staff is awesome. The space is unique and has a good vibe. Wonderful gem around town. May they continue to thrive. This place sets a standard.
Very impressive coffee and breakfast sandwich selection. The baked goods are also excellent. Blueberry scone and herb biscuit are my favorites! Lovely gem of a breakfast joint near downtown Hayward. And they were open on Easter! I love that they brew their own chai tea instead of making it from concentrate.
Great brew!
The absolute best coffee and sandwiches in town! Love the vibe
Creative and delicious drinks, made with fresh ingredients and a very welcoming staff. My only complaint is the over-familiarity within the staff. I understand playful banter, but a group of 3 or 4 was yelling over me as I was ordering, and I had to wait until they were finished yelling over me to finish my order. This is my second time here, and definitely wont be my last, as long as I have the time to wait the 10-15 minutes for my drinks (these times are based off when they got to start by drinks without anyone ahead of me). Sadly an experience like that takes away from what that have to offer, which is a beautiful ambiance with a home-kitchen vibe.
I always come here for the Iced Mint Drip. But besides the drink, they serve really good sandwiches and snacks. The atmosphere is really welcoming, workers are easy to talk to and really friendly. Just be aware of parking, theres barely. Overall, the experience is great!
One of the best places for small breakfasts in Hayward. Nothing on the menu will disappoint you. For the veggies, they offer almond and almond/coconut milk. Lines can be long so go early it be prepared to wait. (Wait is worth it.)
Good food and great coffees! Theres always a line wrapped around the interior which may take about 15-20 min to get through. The restaurant is small with a few tables outside, but you can generally find a seat once you get your food. Stopped in just for coffee, waited in line, but it was worth it!
This place is closed without a reopening date per the sign on the door/window. apparently it has flooded twice. My wife said shes tried coming here 3 times in the past and that it has always been closed.
Exactly what the name of the place is. Once you step in, you get the feel of being in the 1960s. Baristas are very nice, they even offered me a free cookie. Coffee was different than what Im used to. Try the mint leaf coffee. Overall, new experience and new atmosphere for a coffee shop. Ill definitely be stopping here more often. Only thing is that, sadly, the coffee shop is a bit hidden among other businesses. Also, a bit hard to see while driving, especially how fast the traffic flow is on Foothill Blvd.
First time here. Was dropping someone off here and decided to go in. I pass this way everyday. The bae and eggs was good. I ordered the Rick Ross which was too sweet for me. They were very accommodating and added more coffee. Will try to visit again.
