Great little bookstore! So many unique gifts and so much more to offer than jusy books alone. Great selection of journals, art and writing prompt books, writing utensils and art supplies, stickers, and even jewelry. The staff is always very friendly, welcoming, and helpful.

Small and definitely a theme there. Friendly with a decent variety. They may not have what you want but they keep new titles and can order anything else.

Best bookstore in town. Great graphic novel selection, always gives me inspiration for work (I work at the library). AND they sell records! If they dont have what yourelooking for, theyll try their darndest to find it for you. Excellent customer service.

In recent years, Montana Book Co. has earned the title of my favorite bookstore. Of course this means that the store itself is great: a nice selection of books utilizing the store’s space well in addition to a fun array of other items like greeting cards, pens, stickers, notebooks, and art supplies (and more). But above and beyond that, I love and respect how profoundly community-minded the owners and employees of Montana Book Co. are. They genuinely value connecting with their customers and supporting the community they call home. That, above all else, is why even though I live more than an hour away from this store, I will still take every opportunity I can to support them. Where you put your money matters, and this is a store filled with people who will help it matter even more.

Could be a cool store if they didn’t alienate half of their potential customers before you even walk in the door.Response to your comment- You can get off your soap box because it was none of those things. But your response does say a lot about how you assume everyone who disagrees with you MUST disagree with the things you mentioned. It was your sign out front saying republicans do not care about people’s health. Do you realize around half of your county and a lot of people who come in town might be conservative? Also-and get this... They just might care about other people’s health?! None of this has anything to do with inclusion or rights and everything to do with your smug sign lumping all conservatives into one box. Get off your high horse and practice what you seem to love to preach when it comes to inclusion and equality for everyone. Even for people who might disagree with some of your political beliefs.

A bright, refreshing space that is well organized for browsing and discovery. The staff recs are a colorful source of new material. Theyre also fun to read all on their own. The possibilities of this shop rival that of a larger bookstore.

Excellent service and selection, friendly staff, and if they don’t have something, they’ll help you find it. If you’re a grown adult that feels “alienated” by their flags and signs, this might not be the shop for you. For literally everyone else, it’s the best local book shop you could ask for.

I LOVE this store! I was after a few books for a young person in my life. I want to get her hooked on reading. The owners (who are so well read) asked a younger employee for some suggestions. After a few questions about her interests, age etc., I walked out with two great books. I also have 6 other titles for the future. I always get wonderful service! I feel I get a great value.

MT Book Co. is fantastic. The staff are always friendly and helpful. Charlie and Chelsea have done an amazing job curating their selection and are happy to order any book that’s not in stock. This store is what a local bookstore should be, and a prime example of why we need to keep our local bookstores alive and thriving.

I’ve received the best customer service at this store! They have great selections for fiction, non-fiction, fantasy, YA and even some fun stuff on the side like calendars, bookmarks, cards and magnets. This is such a wonderful book store! Not only that, but you can get tons of cool stuff. Like pens, posters, earrings and so so much more! There’s lots of great books on so many topics. There’s some great fiction books, Sci-Fi, and even non-fiction. I love to stop by here as often as I can. The staff and owners are so friendly and amazing! And the best part is that the store is LGBTQ+ friendly! I feel safe in this store and I love seeing LGBTQ+ things. I’ve been able to spice up my decor with some of the LGBTQ+ posters and flags!If you haven’t been here yet, what are you doing?! You need to go here!

Amazing local bookstore with friendly, helpful employees, a great selection of books featuring a wide variety of genres and authors, and a plethora of other fun merchandise as well. I personally am incredibly grateful to the owners for enforcing mask requirements for all patrons during our current pandemic situation. I truly appreciate their consideration for the safety of our community and I know I can shop safely at their establishment. They are welcoming to everyone, contribute generously to local and national causes, and help facilitate education on myriad important issues. Fun place to browse for new books, and there is a nice little selection of records up front too.

I love bookstores, and this Bookstore isnt really useful for some readers. Their fiction section is small and then the other side of the store is filled with biased autobiographies and nonfiction. Their young adult fiction and romantic fiction are almost nonexistent and its hard for a casual reader to find the next book.

Cute bookstore! Excited to go back. They are also up to date since they have new releases and super cute gifts and items sure to tickle the hearts of the crafty, the bookworms, and the hipsters. Im also thankful that they are being socially responsible and require face masks during the pandemic. It is protecting their older patrons and staff members who are immune compromised. Ive had good experiences buying vinyls from them and ordering in books as well. Shop your local bookstore or stop by if youre traveling in Helena area!

As much as I want to support local bookstores the price of books at this bookstore was almost doubled for what I could get them for at Costco or an online store. I expect to pay a little more at local stores but near double is ridiculous.Also some of the staff was pretentious not what I want to come across at a bookstore.On a positive note, they had a wide selection and was organized which made for easy browsing. Also, very welcoming to all!

I love Mt Book Company! There staff is welcoming, friendly, knowledgeable and community conscious. With all the concerns surrounding our current environment it is reassuring to see a business taking a proactive approach to the health and well bring of its employees and customers.More importantly it is awesome to have such a unique and diverse business in our downtown. From there great book selection, the ability to use a streaming service that doesnt belong to Bezous and an ever changing vinyl selection, Mt Book Company is one of my go to retailers in town.

This is what a book store should be! Small but excellently curated, with a wonderful selection of books for children (babies to teens) in particular. I loved the liberal bent to many of the selections (rare in Montana!). Best of all, the people who work here are AMAZING! They spent so much time with our family so we could each find a book that perfectly suited our interests. We all left excited to get home and start reading. Thank you!!

Fantastic bookstore! I loved their selection of sci-fi/fantasy novels. The staff were friendly and knew their stuff - had a great exchange about fantasy books and metal music with one of them. I bought two books in the morning and came back mid-afternoon to buy the sequel for one of them.

Small but very nicely curated. Especially if you have children, you wont want to pass this up. Some of the best childrens books you never see at big chains all beautifully displayed. Only downside is there are so many new finds that it usually takes me an hour to leave!

Very great store with amazing and friendly staff. I am a newer customer there but their vinyl selection is really good, shows a lot of care and they even have a vinyl wish list which is awesome and shows great customer engagement! Staff was friendly and cared a lot about the music talked about a 90’s hip hop documentary on Wu Tang and we also talked on music and how much we love it such as miles Davis. Great store.

Montana Book Company offers multiple book clubs; there’s a club for every interest. In addition to the beautiful selection of books, there’s a great meeting space in back where there always seems to be a few people working diligently together. I’ve found great reads while browsing, they’ve special-ordered books for me quickly and easily, and the recently expanded (at least it seems to me) kids’ section is perfect for when I’m looking for gifts; books but also some crafting/art supplies.

My favorite place to spend money in Helena. I don’t think I can go a week without making a stop in to say hi and look at what is in stock. Staff have always gone above and beyond to order the books I need and help me find my new favorites. When I become a lady of leisure, I hope I get to park it in the chair in the corner of the shop and give folks my unsolicited book recommendations.

Best local bookstore in town. Chelsia and all the staff are so friendly and helpful. They are always willing to provide recommendations. Or, if needed, they will provide an ear for any old conversation :) I have been a customer for about 3 months and am an avid sci-fi/fantasy reader and they will order in whatever book I want at comparable prices to the Big Business book companies. But, you get to support local business by shopping here. They also have really comfy shirts for sale!Cant wait to see how they grow!

This is a nice looking book store, however many books that I was looking for were not there. It is obvious that there is a liberal bias from the owners as there were a ton of books from liberal elites, but few if nothing from the conservative or libertarian side. The books on display are very left leaning from adult books to children books. It is obvious what kind of mindset they are pushing through their store. Otherwise they are nice people and very helpful.

Its okay. Its a tourist trap. You go here for a book on Montana and maybe a souvenir. Its not... a bookstore, in the conventional sense. It has a focused Montana-themed selection. Go in with that expectation and it will impress you.

Cool little bookstore. There is a little kids area in the back to destimulate the kiddos while browsing. Selection of books was pretty great for such a small space. Found a couple of very good cookbooks and the atlas obscura which is a super fun book.
