Great selection of outdoor gear for such a small store. The gear rentals are awesome and very reasonably priced! And I believe they sell the rental gear at the end of each season which is awesome if you dont want to pay full price. Speaking of full price, most of the stuff they sell is at MSRP, so it can be a little pricey if you shop here a lot. But its a smaller local store so it makes sense. The gamblers sales they have often are also an awesome way to get things on sale! They also have a great return policy! Base camp is my favorite local outdoor store Ive shopped at!

What a great store. I came to look for a Christmas gift and couldn’t decide because there were so many choices. I ended up spending a lot of time looking at all the books they have. Of course there are lots of terrific clothing options. I didn’t realize there was so many accessories and different sections. The layout is very inviting and the staff is all very friendly, despite it being such a busy time of year.

Great store here in town with all the things you could need. Backpacking packs, water bladders, Montana apparel etc. They even allow dogs on a leash!! :)

This is everything an outdoor/adventure store should be! The staff are super friendly and knowledgeable (we got great recommendations for a hike in the area, too). The selection is excellent and the store is neat and clean. The culture/vibe there is awesome in all regards.

Again, another gem of an outdoor/camp store in Montana! They seemed to have all the basics a camper r hiker might need along with most of the neat gear you buy even if you dont need it. The staff was knowledgeable, pleasant and helpful. Its worth a trip if youre in town.

Loved it. What a cool hometown outdoor store. Full service ski shop, tuned them up for me in quick order. Much appreciated. Great selection whether you are climbing, skiing, hiking, boarding, or camping. The staff is super friendly and very knowledgeable. I spent way more time here than I would in any other store this size. The place is on point.

I like this place because the staff is really knowledgeable and helpful. Having knowledgeable staff means higher prices, unfortunately. But getting the right gear the first time saves you money in the long run, so maybe it evens out.

Great pro shop with knowledgable staff and a good selection of skis and boots. It is great to be able to rent skis before buying. If only there was snow.

Bought a 5 gallon collapsible water tote from them that cost around $20. Tried to use it and water poured out of the seal when closed and leaked out the side while pouring. I tried to bring it back for refund or exchange and I was told they had the problem before and the company wouldnt warranty it, and that it was just a poor design. He told me he couldnt do anything for me and that I should look at other stores for a different designed spout of better quality that would fit it. I literally bought it from them the week prior and had the receipt in hand. Apparently they felt fine about selling low quality products and leaving the burden on the customer.

Just moved to Helena and was wondering where to find high end gear and The Base Camp is it. Asher was incredibly friendly, helpful, knowledgeable and understanding of there product line. I didn’t think they were overpriced either. I can buy cheaper equipment but it wears out too fast and these guys have a pretty awesome return policy

It was a great experience! We found most of the items we needed. Maybe the one that helped us will remember us. He called several other shops to find a rain cover for a small day pack for us.I can tell you we looked in about 6 or 7 stores we didnt find it. 😉We loved the atmosphere in the shop it reminds to the outdoor shop where I work back in Belgium... 🙂

Great locally owned outdoor sports store. Their gamblers sale twice a year, is great. Lower and lower prices for three weeks. Gamble and wait and it might be gone. Great deals on clothes, footwear and equipment. All the brand name, high quality stuff.

Great gear. A little pricey, but theyve been in Helena for a long time and their service is really good. The staff are quite knowledgeable about what they sell and can also provide good advice about recreational opportunities and outdoor conditions in the surrounding mountains. Recommended highly.

The staff are all fabulous, the clothing selection for both women and men is excellent, and they always have what Im looking for not to mention a few things Im not looking for ;) I shop here year round for gear and for presents. The base camp has everything from everyday clothing where to outdoor and sports apparel. Whether youre camping in the backcountry or rock climbing or cross country skiing these guys can outfit. You can expect friendly service with a smile. These guys stock great brands and quality products. This is one of my favorite places to shop in town.

I expected more. Cleanliness is really important. I had 2 beds in my room. One of them had hair all over it.

Sometimes a little more, but quality, friendly service, and generous return policy are worth it. Quality outfitter in Helena for over 30 yrs, has all of the good outdoors apparel youre looking for. Took wife shopping for new winter boots, found the right pair; looks and feel was just right (sigh). As long as you test them indoors, you can return shoes/boots for exchange or refund if not the right fit. Every store section has friendly, knowledgable staff. You may find something cheaper in a big-box store, chances are it wont last half as long. A place I always return!

Really expensive and dont carry sizes larger than XL in womens clothing. Snooty staff members. I was new to town and wanted to browse the store...I left within 10 minutes because the staff made me feel very uncomfortable and not welcome...that was 2 years ago and I havent been back since, probably wont.

Had an AMAZING experience today!!! Went to check out the sale and casually inquired if there were any rental SUPs left to buy. Cammie (sp?) was super knowledgable and patient while we took our time deciding. We left her for a minute to browse and she let us know that some more had just arrived from their other location. After some deliberation, my husband and I both walked out with great paddle boards and paddles! We went straight to the water and did a six-mile paddle!!
