This is truly one of the best refiners in the Northeast. When I started looking for local refiners in New York, General Refining was one of the last ones I tried, and Im beyond thankful that I did. Ive tried all the other local facilities and they dont compare to General in terms of customer service and metal returns. Their attention to detail and customer service are second to none. Ketty is an absolute pleasure to deal with and Dave is always there for me when I need. I doubt you will find a more knowledgeable and thorough refinery anywhere on Long Island.

I sent just about over 6 pounds of stuff materials teeth, Bridges and I only received a hundred and something dollars ... Im not sure whats going on with this company but I would definitely be careful because it doesnt even sound right that it was only $100 worth of gold.. even the people at the refinery didnt understand why there wasnt that much gold in which made me even more suspicious that it sounded like a scam... I would definitely be careful with these people because Im not sure that the even told me the truth or we even fair or anyting. You cant trust people be careful theres other people that will buy the teeth for $4 a gram so you dont need to make these people rich.... They definitely seem like Crooks..

I have used different refineries over the years, and for the past 6 years I have used GRC exclusively. When I send my gold and silver in for a melt, I remove all non-precious metal items and send in clean, all precious metal shipments. That way I know precisely what I am sending in. Without doing this you have no idea whether your return is fair or not. Using this approach I can say unequivocally that all of my returns have been accurate, fair, quick, and at a high rate of return.

They want to steal your gold and paladiumSam Nacle told me that after i handed him my metal i would recieve an assay along with three options..1)recieve gold as payment2) recieve check/cash as payment3)return my metal back to me if i wasnt satisfied with theWhat i actually got was my metal taken and a check mailed to me for a lot less than what i expected. No options were given to me. The assay claimed my gold was worth $98 and there were no other metals to be found in the assay report.. i had given some gold pieces mixed with platinum and just platinum and pound of other metals however just the gold came up and no mention of a calculated % or estimated weight or amount. He told me he was sorry my gold wasn’t worth much And when i requested my gold be returned to me he said “i cant return ur gold because it has already been melted down with other lots of metal. The best he could do was send me another check for $100 when my gold was worth more than $198.. very dishonest

We have been doing business with General Refining for over 17yrs. Before that we had tried just about every refiner in the country and were eventually disappointed by each one of them. With my 30yrs. of precious metal experience I know the dollar amt. of what I send to GRC and their assay results match my calculations every time. We are on pace to again do over 1.5 million dollars in business with them.

Quick Response and Awesome to deal with

Worst refining company I have ever came across. I sent them 170 ozt split into 2 batches, 1 was watch cases and band tops (clean and all marked, nothing lower than 1/10 GF) and the other lot was Gold Filled Jewelry, also all marked and tested). The lady Theresa quoted me over the phone on a mediocre 100 ozt lot over $30 per ozt. So I decided to try them out with my Gold Filled scrap, before sending my gold. I got my assay numbers today... I was shocked! They paid me gold plate prices at 1% return, approx $13 per ozt, not even 1/3 of what she quoted me. My local dealer would have paid me $20 an ozt, no questions asked. When I mentioned that to her she said nothing. Is this place even a real refinery??? Took them a week to do the assay from the time it was delivered. I’ve never been screwed so bad in my life, wouldn’t recommend this “company” to my worst enemy. We have been in the jewelry business for over 25 years and have never had a return come back so bad. The only way this place is staying in business is by screwing over new, one time only customers. Shame on you. You don’t even deserve 1 star! Anyone thinking of sending this place your scrap, you are better off throwing it in the trash! (Seriously, run as far away from this con company you can & don’t get burnt like we did). Who ranked them #1 smelter is 2017???? Sounds like somebody is running false ads and getting scrap, taking it to an actual smelter, then writing a receipt and keeping the difference.

The first experience was o.k., but after that things went south. With their so called 24/48 hr turnaround time, I was ripped off over $700 worth of 10k gold melt. I was promised a call by Dave, the supervisor, and he never followed up. I just got the run around and an apology from Teresa as well as all the miscommunication, unanswered questions and the missing gold!I did file a complaint with the BBB in NY, and am waiting for a response from an investigation they are conducting. BEWARE of this company as they will rip you off if given the chance!
