We had Got Shade install a shade sail over an area of our backyard to be used as a carport for our boat and lake toys. We could not be happier. Derek and his crew were very professional, easy to work with, timely, and did a great job. We had a wind storm here in Henderson that was strong enough to blow down two of our very established trees yet the shade sail did not budge! I would definitely use Got Shade again.

I wanted a shade structure for my pool to minimize my familys sun exposure. The first pool company I contacted said they could put a shade structure over a pool, but the cover would have been an aluminum structure similar to what you see built over patios. The structure could be built as long as we wanted, but the width would be limited which would have limited the width of the pool. Also, I wasnt sure I liked the look of it. The next pool builder (John Bowles of Oracle Pools) and the one who ultimately built my pool, only does pools, and to my knowledge hadnt had a customer with a similar request. I told John I wanted a sail like structure as they are far more affordable than a custom built framed structure over my pool. John did a search of the internet and gave me the name of Got Shade.I called Got Shade and Derek Warner answered. I told him my planned pool size (18x40) and he gave me a very rough estimate over the phone. Given the estimate was within budget, I emailed him a copy of the pool plans and he quickly emailed me back a drawing overlaid on the plans and a more accurate estimate. Since the structure was going to be very close to the pool, we decided to get a permit for its construction from the city, else we would have to build it after the pool was completed . Had we built the sail shade structure afterwards, we risked not having room and damaging the newly built pool. Getting the structure permitted added thousands to the ultimate cost since it required additional inspectors, an engineer, and being over built to withstand hurricane like winds with massive footings and posts. Also, the city treated it like a habitable structure and required the posts be 5 feet from the property line and 6 feet from the house. This resulted in a smaller structure, since we had originally hoped to put the posts closer to the walls. The city approved the permit but it took a month or more. My biggest trouble was getting the HOA to approve the structure, but after much back forth over months, they finally approved of the structure.Overall, I am quite pleased with the finished structure . We have already had very windy days and the sails barely move. The aged bronze posts and the beige sails fit in well with the neighborhood as both the city and the HOA had demanded. I only had a mild concern about the coordination with the pool builder particularly about connecting the grounding wires to the pool, but it got taken care of within a day. I would hire Derek again.

Got Shade installed a covering in our backyard over our grill and fire pit area this spring and we couldnt love it more! Not only is the finished product beautiful and functional, but the entire process of designing and installing it with Derek was extremely easy and straightforward.I knew when we designed our pool and fire pit area that I wanted something that was unique and would give us a real WOW factor in our backyard. After looking at photos online, I found some pictures of shade sails and knew this was the pop of color that we needed. Our pool contractor contacted Derek and we began the process of designing a distinctive shade sail specifically for us.Derek came to our home to take measurements and we spoke for a while about what we needed functionally as well as the look we were going for. A few days later, we had three designs in our inbox and we began refining. Derek was very easy-going and flexible about making the changes we asked for and was very honest and forthcoming with suggestions based on his experience. Once we decided on the plans, Derek was very quick to get the permits pulled and begin fabrication.Derek explained every part of the process to us and was very clear what was needed every step of the way. He was very professional and communicative from start to finish and he clearly has a wealth of knowledge about the industry.We are extremely happy with our shade sail and with our experience with Got Shade.
