Very informative, before coming I did not know anything about Milton Hershey except that he was the founder of Hershey Chocolate Company. Everything was well thought out and displayed throughout the museum. I enjoyed the interactive Hershey tokens that were given out at the beginning of the tour to use to get the videos to play at different stations. Due to COVID some of the displays were limited to viewing only but that is to be expected.Excellent experience for anyone visiting the area. Milton Hershey was a very amazing entrepreneur and a trailblazer for his time. Learn about the Milton Hershey School too. Dont forget to take the Chocolate tour around the world - taste testing. Very interesting flavors.
I visited Hershey, PA for the first time in 13 years. On my last visit in 2008, this museum didnt exist. Its a very informative museum about Milton Hershey, the origin of Hershey Milk Chocolate, and the town of Hershey. So much information. They also have a nice gift shop. We ate at the cafe with delicious food and reasonable prices. You can pay extra money for the make your own candy class at certain times. That I wouldnt recommend because all they have you make is a smores.
Hershey Story Museum in Hershey PA- On Wednesday October 13th my family traveled up to the Hershey Story Museum for a homeschool field trip. The boys got to learn about different transportation systems that Milton Hershey used in help make the sweetest town in America. They also got to make their own Kiss Mobile out of choclate. After the program the family did a scavenger hunt around the Museum and learned all about the history of Militon Hershey and the Hershey Choclate company. Highly recommend that you stop in here while in Hershey. Ive been to Hershey so many times and actually worked at the Hershey Choclate plant before but never gotten a complete understanding of Milton Hersheys life until visiting here. The staff is super helpful and awesome as well making the experience even better.Lastly, dont forget to follow Lititz Dad for more family fun adventures.
Such a great experience, spent the whole afternoon on Monday there. Learned so much about Hershey, and how Milton helped the city grow. Such a great gift shop as well. The candles are great. They actually smell when you burn them. Great for people of all ages. Loved the interaction with some of the exhibits. Great experience.
Wonderful walk through of the history of Mr and Mrs Hersey. They failed many times but he never gave up and his legacy through this museum showcase, the hotel, theme park and the entire city I see it a true testament to the amazing, giving couple.. Were glad we were able to visit this iconic American town‼️
Really interesting if you dont know his story. A quite man who really cared about kids but had none of his own. The museum has a chocolate tasting experience, highly recommend it, as you can taste the differences in the various chocolates from different places. The staff know the history well and are very kind and thoughtful.
Awesome friendly helpful staff. Cafe and shop were adorable. I enjoyed the Museums offerings and pricing. Cant wait to visit again. Recommend the experience
My niece works at Hershey Park, so the 50% discount was amazing! Made chocolate bars fro the chocolate lab, ate at the Cafe, and toured the museum...had a great time.
This place was great. I enjoyed the Ispy portion. We enjoyed all the little interactions just wished there was a little more but not complaining still an amazing place to visit and learn. We liked it overall but the gardens out ranked it. I didnt have any coffee or anything from the cafe but my boyfriend liked the latte he got. The other side looked nice too where they held the chocolate shots but we chose not to do them since he sometimes has breakouts. Still highly recommend trying it out.
A fun and enlightening tour on the history of the Hershey story. You can learn much in about a two hour period of time. The museum is well organized and the staff are friendly and helpful.
Interesting story that is not mentioned at the musem about Hershey was that he started out without knowing how to make milk chocolate but knew what he wanted to accomplish and just made it all happen.
Fun little tour, wish they would have kept the interaction with it and more staff to ask questions while touring.
The history is very accurate to what is available, and it is presented in a great way. I do with it was a big bigger for the price, and maybe had some interactive stuff. The only chance to do anything with real chocolate is the $13 chocolate lab which I assume you design your own chocolate bar or something. I dont I figured youd get to like even do something as simple as wrap your own Hershey kiss or customize one of the little kiss papers. Overall still really fun for grownups who like history. I wouldnt recommend it to families with kids though.
The museum is great and definitely gives a great history of Milton Hershey and his legacy. However the museum is a little choppy and doesnt flow super well. There is numerous references to historical events in the timeline which is probably overkill in its presentation.
Very interesting and educational. Two words kids dont want to hear. It was the best part of going to Hershey!
Small but it has interested information about Hershey. My favorite part was the chocolate tasted of the world, I asked for the six sample. It was worthy experience and probably unique.
Enjoyed going into the store. The lady behind the desk was so kind. She gave us so information about the Jersey Hotel and must see Garden. What a beautiful place. The hotel is amazing. Worth the time too see and its free besides seeing the butterflies.
Fun chocolate experience making chocolate bars. The museum is a little dry though especially for kids.
Enjoyed the exhibit! We learned a lot. Very friendly and sociable staff.
If your a history buff or a big fan of the company this is the place to visit. Great displays of the man, the town and evolution of the company. Chocolate World is cool and a must visit but for a true Hershey fan will enjoy this place. It wont have the attention of young kids but there are activities to for all ages. We did not get to try the Chocolate lab though but we will on the next trip.
We ate at Cafe Musee which is in the same building as the museum. For breakfast we had avacado toast and a bagel with lox that was served with tomatoes and cucumbers. Everything was tasty. Theres a nice selection for breakfast and lunch. We tried the chocolate tasting which is self guided. It was fun to try the 6 varieties of cocoa.
Wheelchair friendly museum. See the story of Hershey in many exhibits and interactive activities. The cafe sandwiches are awesome! We loved our visit 🥰 very friendly and helpful staff.
Great story! Interactive screens, chocolate making lab and chocolate drink tasting from around the world!
Fun spot to visit with kids alot of interesting things to do.
Interesting little journey however if youre staying at the Hershey Lodge the video they show pretty much wraps all this up. If you can get tickets free definitely go otherwise it wouldnt hurt but is not necessary.
We enjoyed this the most. The hosts are ready to answer all your questions and are very knowledgeable. We learned that Hershey is one of the most successful industrial towns. Milton Hershey set it up so that profits continously go back into education and that they always have a say in what goes on in the town of Hershey. It was really interesting.
Great little museum. It cover the complete history of the town and Mr. Hershey himself. If you want to see this in real life book a tour on the trolley. That also was quite a pleasant experience.
Very informative about the life of Milton Hershey. Interactive so kids could have fun too! Also did the chocolate lab. The chocolate bar was just ordinary, nothing exciting but the information about how chocolate is made was interesting and the instructors were well informed. Great place!
We stopped in while exploring the downtown Hershey area. Tried the chocolate tasting option- unique idea! We were pleasantly surprised with all the different samples that we got to try. Worth the visit just for the sampling! We didnt really have time to see the museum itself though.
This museum was so informative and easy to walk around at your own pace. We took ages from 8 yrs old to 65 yrs old. And everyone in our group enjoyed it. Definitely worth the admission price. Which wasnt that bad for a museum.
If you want to know everything there is to know about how Milton Hershey built his chocolate business from the gound up, this is where you should visit. Its very well done with both static and inter-active displays in a quality setting. I enjoyed the Cafe Amusee for breakfast (has lunch also), did a chocolate tasting and made chocolate in the Chocolate Lab. Id highly recommend this as a great way to spend time while visiting Hershey. Great for kids also.
The best draw of the location was the chocolate tasting. Make sure you stop and get tickets for that. Staff is super nice and willing to always speak to you. Learning Mr. Hersheys story was very neat but the museum itself is actually smaller than you realize. This is not a long activity and will be done within an hour.
Good learning experience for both children and adults.Gives the background of how the Hershey company started and grew to what we know it as today. If your in the area check it out, only takes about an hour to go through the whole thing
The museum clearly tells the story of Milton Hershey. It was fun and I learned tons. It is not just about him, chocolate, or the Hershey company. It covers how Hershey built his company town- Hershey, Pennsylvania. There was a small exhibit about Hersheys venture in Cuba and how he did, there, the same thing he did in Hershey, PA. The only thing missing is free chocolate for life. Cost was only $12 per person for seniors.
It is a small museum which takes place largely on one floor. We were able to watch every informational video and read the material at every kiosk within 2 hours. Our 8 year old loved it and, my husband and I enjoyed learning about Hershey’s history. There is a small section on Hershey’s time in Cuba on the first floor; easy to miss.
Absolutely Beautiful and so much more stuff to see! Making our own stores was so much fun! Great work! It has been three years since we were there! Thank You for Beautiful memories!
Very informative. Wish we had planned more time to visit.
So much to learn here plus they have chocolate lab for extra charge where you learn more about making chocolate and get to try your hand at making your own creations. Excellent place for kids to learn outside the homeschool/classroom.
Did not plan on traveling here. Glad we did. A very amazing story about Hershey and all that he did during his lifetime and his continuing legacy. If all businesses and corporations would do just a fraction of what he did in promoting job security, education and supporting the community, this will have far reaching effects for years to come. Amazing how employee input helped their jobs and increased production. The candy making was a blast. The rewards for correct answers about chocolate were delicious. The ladies giving the presentation were excellent and were able to get everyone involved. The grounds in and around the city were amazing. Everything is so neat and clean. Why cant all cities could be like this?
A great museum. I had no idea Samuel Hershey was such a great philanthropist. The exhibits were well displayed and historically interesting. The lab and tasting were also fun. It was a well spent three hours.
Great service from the start of walking in. They provide free parking around back and make sure to make time for this place to get all the information of hershey as you can. Probably about 2 hrs to play it safe but it can be shorter if you want. Great learning experience about the history of hershey.
This by far the best attraction in Hershey! There are miles of paths that are lined with every plant imaginable. There are ample benches and rest areas. The rose garden is breath taking! I highly recommend this stop if you are visiting Hershey.
Very nice museum and very nice people! Take the chocolate lab. It was fun and informative! Did you know that white chocolate is really NOT chocolate!! Who knew?!?!?!?
Very interesting. Milton Hersey was an amazing man.. He did so much good for his employees. And people in general. He gave away his fortune twice. The museum is great 👍. spent about an hour I have my 2 kid and 2 nieces with me and they where entertained looking for stuff on the scavenger hunt and alot of interactive things. I was surprised the kids enjoyed it so much and I wasnt rushed while trying 2 read. It was a great thing to do before the park opened
All you want to know about Hershey. Staff is so friendly to have you visit. Recommended.
Very nice experience. Slower pace than Chocolate World, which we enjoyed. The Chocolate Lab and the Tasting experience add-ons were definitely worth it.
Very interesting and also try a flight of warm chocolate shots from around the world very yummy
Great museum about the life of Milton Hershey. Given the times in which he lived, he was had great care for workers and the community. The story of Hershey in Cuba was interesting and further showed his character. Not a perfect man and Im sure the wokesters out there would paint a different picture but worth the time and education. Not all capitalists are evil (hint: most arent). Make sure you do the taste testing and get the full flight
Welcome to Milton’s Milton Factory! Okay, that joke will only make sense to 0.08% of the world population, but I had to say it since it’s a joke from one of my favorite YouTube channels. On a more serious note, this is an absolutely wonderful museum that details Milton Hershey’s motivation to make something of himself. The founder of the Hershey Company. The museum is both visually pleasing as well as educational. It offers both the museum portion as well as a chocolate tasting and chocolate lab where you create chocolate! - I did the museum and creating of chocolate. Both were real enjoyable and definitely worth the admission cost!
Huge 2 stores building about first mass production of chocolate. The museum offering chocolate making class experience, hot chocolate tasting and few halls multimedia exhibition about history of chocolate production and Hershey himself.Sorry for my broken English, but simply can not find the way to describe level of my delightfulness. The museum is absolutely fantastic and easily can turn adult to the kid from the movie and time is flying extremely fast. Well done, The Hershey museum, well done!
This is a wonderful place to visit, full of history and of course chocolate. The cafe has great coffee and desserts!
The staff seemed to really enjoy working there. It was very interesting and I wish more companies followed Hersheys philosophies.
The Hershey Story museum was a really nice educational experience. There was a lot of history to see and interactive stations such as a phone you could pick up and hear conversations. There was also a newspaper digital photo booth. The tour was self guided and you could go at your own pace. Afterwards there is a small area for chocolate tasting and a very helpful employee who will guide you through the tasting. It was a fun stop on our way over to Hershey Park. Worth checking out for sure.
I learned a lot about Mr Hershey, not only in making chocolate affordable but the legacy he left behind.
We had a AWESOME experience here. The Chocolate Lab was GREAT. Really good place to take children.
Very interesting history of Milton Hershey
The museum offers alot of history on Milton Hershey and his rise to fame. Very informative!
Very cool place not too big but very informal . Had no idea Milton Hershey did business in cuba
Great museum attraction to learn more about the Hershey story. Very detailed and thorough exhibits that cover all aspects of Milton Hersheys life and business ventures. Great for all ages! Highly recommend the flight tastings as well!!
Great place to being kids to have a walk in a easter sunday. But dont expect it is a huge museum, it is a one floor museum. They have nice idea to keeping people attract. Super nice staff!
We had a great time here. I found Milton Hersheys story very interesting and intriguing. There is so much more to him than chocolate. There is a lot of reading, so smaller children may not find this as fun as the older ones. There are some interactive displays though where you can design your own Hershey bar label and actually email it to yourself. The chocolate tasting is definitely worth it for any chocolate lover. So yummy.
Well done, interesting. We enjoyed the special Cuba exhibit. Excellent parking set up. A bit pricey, though.
The ride is best for children, interesting though. Fun to do if there isnt a line
Of course this place was great! Who doesnt LOVE CHOCOLATE AND ITS HISTORY
Seems like a good parts only version of the Hershey story. Interesting, but wouldnt make it my only destination in Hershey. Takes about 30-45 mins.
This was pretty cool. We learned a lot about Mr. Hershey. The story about his failures and successes was amazing. I really liked to see how he had such vision to make the brand, town, and empire what it is today.
Loved it, great family environment. Unlike amusement parks in California, everyone is enjoying themselves. Just dont ask workers where things are, seems like all the ppl who work there are new and know nothing.
This museum is a very nice place to visit. My husband and I took our 14 year old niece and we all enjoyed it. To make it enjoyable is best to take your time and read the displays. The story of Milton Hershey was very interesting. Most of the museum is about his story.
What a wonderful museum. A lot more than expected. We did the lab - the 2 girls did a great job.
This is a very nice gift shop that is located inside of the Hershey Story Museum. You can get to this store for free. There is clothing, candy, jewelry, soaps, Christmas ornaments, books, and more. The prices were reasonable and the staff was friendly. There is plenty of parking in one of the two off street parking lots nearby.
We visited this museum at the end of our Hershey trip, and we were pleasantly surprised how good it was!Lots to see and read, and it if you have been on the Hershey trolley tour it goes into further detail about the town and Milton Hershey. There is a parking garage behind the museum with plenty of places to park.
Clean, beautiful atmosphere and friendly staff. A great experience!
Great experience for kids! The interactive museum was great but the Chocolate Lab was a huge highlight! Go before noon for free parking. The Pantry connected to the Lobby has a great breakfast/lunch spot.
Awesome and so much fun. Will be coming again to see and learn more
Nice history of Milton Hershey and how he build an awesome and flourishing town. A must see if you visit Hershey PA or Hershey Park. It is beautiful inside. They also have a chocolate tasting (additional fee) and they also have a chocolate lap where people can make candy with chocolate. There is also a cute little cafe called The Pantry, they serve breakfast, lunch and dinner.
The museum is small, costs around $12 a person before discounts. There is free admission for a active duty military which includes an additional $3 off each persons ticket in their group. They also give a $3 discount to teachers. there is a big parking garage in the back which is free to park in which is a plus. Several of the exhibits are interactive for the kids. All in all, it was nice to stop if youre in the area to learn the history. I would not however go out on my way to the museum.
Its a great place if youre interested in knowing the history of Hershey. I was with a 5 yr old and it was hard to keep her interested. What theyve done is awesome.
Clean. New. Gorgeous attention to detail. However, overpriced. Not as long as I thought it would be for the money.
Way more than I ever expected. World class museum experience! Interactive, engaging and informative.
This is a very fun experience. If you are in Hershey I highly recommend this attraction. You actually get quite a bit of bang for your buck. Definitely try out the tasting area and if you have the time the Chocolate lab is a blast.
PA residents should all know more of Milton Hershey life and work, good deeds
A somewhat dull telling of Milton Hersheys life. The museum serves to put him on a pedestal to give the town and the amusement park next door a better name.
Not the experience we wanted. This was the last stop of a few places we toured throughout Hershey, PA. We went to the gardens and butterfly atrium and every Hershey staff member we came in contact with prior to the museum visit was so helpful and friendly. The museum portion of the visit here was cool, we learned a lot about Milton Hershey and it was great! The downside to this visit was the staff, more specifically the girl who was working the front desk. We went 40 min before the museum was closing, so we had enough time to look around and explore. We purchased tickets ahead of time and when we presented them to the girl at the front, she took them and just told us to walk up the stairs. As we began to walk up, an employee by the name of Clayt (who was lovely) asked us if this was our first time visiting and if we had a wooden coin. We told him no and he went back to front desk girl and asked her why she didn’t give it to us. She then proceeded to whisper something in his ear and appearing to have a slight attitude, making us feel like we did something wrong. Then Clayt told her to give us the coin anyway… and she finally did. Now apparently these coins activate stations throughout the museum and they give you a walkthrough of Milton Hershey’s life but shocker, our coin did not work. It seemed to us like front desk girl did not activate it. Now… Having worked in retail, I get it. It’s annoying when people come in close to close and you just want to get out of your shift on time. But it’s a small museum that we easily could have walked through in half that time and we came in 40 min before the place closed, not 10. In my opinion she simply didn’t feel like activating the coin (or apparently didnt feel like giving it to us in the first place) because in her mind, if we had the coin we’d stay past 5:00 pm because of the time it would take walking through and listening to each station. The experience was taken away from us. Thank you to Clayt for at least trying to give us a good experience and getting us the coin but based on the attitude of front desk girl, I’m not sure I’d be going back here.
Its funny how the Hershey Museum is located outside of the Hershey Park area and requires an actual relocation of vehicle to get to. I happened to visit on the day of Mr. Hersheys birthday so I got to see the museum at half price. However, the $12.50 admission seems reasonable for this small, but well curated museum that covers the complete history of Hershey. The one thing that I didnt get to do was go to the Chocolate Lab Class. It would have been slightly awkward for a big guy like me to be playing with chocolate in a room full of kids with their mothers. Within the museum building is a small gift shop in case you cant make it out to the Chocolate World to buy swags and there is a coffee shop (The Pantry Cafe) that carries Peets coffee.
This place is so informative. If ever in Hershey you need to check it out
Cant wait to see the top half!
If you want to learn about a good business man who was willing to take risks and who had a unique vision, this is the place to go. Mr. Hershey was that and more. Great place to take your family. I wish I could have met the man instead of seeing his legacy.
Go! Milton Hersheys life story will inspire. Totally worth the final stop before leaving the town.
A very nice modern museum with great displays. A fascinating history of Mr. Hershey and his start. A little to boring for my 8 y.o. Clean, friendly and free parking.
They have great exhibits and great staff that is always around that you could ask for help. You could learn a lot from all the exhibits and I thought is was pretty cool. Its also kid friendly a good gift store and kids section for hand on hand interactions.
Cool museum and great place to taste chocolate from around the world. Fun to learn about chocolate and to make your own chocolate bars as well.
Very well done museum! Neat story of Milton Hershey, pleasant staff, clean, and great place to visit with the family. We did the chocolate lab as well which was informative, tasty and a fun activity.
Creative way to sell branded propaganda... And oh yeah, I bought some of it.
