The people that run this store are absolutely amazing! Not only was I able to find what I was looking for, I got some really amazing recommendations on comics I hadn’t even heard of that I’m going to check out now! The knowledge these people have about comics are spectacular and I could have spent so much more time in there looking at their vast selection! Time Tunnel Comics has something for everyone! I’ve never been to a comic store that had the variety they have. Classics, collectibles, and new stuff! They have something new and cool every time I go and also the selection of funko pops and really cool collectible figurines they have makes it hard not to want to buy everything. My time here was well spent and Jacob and his crew are really friendly! I will definitely be coming back here to get my new issues and see what new collectibles they get in!

Time Tunnel Comics is a small store full of tons of Wonderful things!! Comics, cards, memorabilia & collectibles. All run almost single handed by one sweet, helpful & very knowledgeable guy with a passion for what he does! He turned me on to the Moonshine comic series after talking with me about my likes & interests around a year ago. Gave me my first copy to try it out. And I love it. Werewolves, voodoo & moonshiners! What’s not to love. Jacob has done a remarkable job keeping up the store best he can. Making improvements. Expanding. Still trying to make a Livable earning in unprecedented times this past year & a half like so many. He has had to turn to online sales (who hasn’t) to compete & is now back to doing in person Comicons when they are available. He has unloaded his car from a con into the store in one night to be able to open the next day. He has to hustle 24/7 to earn his living online & in person. Coming into the store, please be kind & think of what All may be going on behind the scenes. So many people are doing their very best to make it day to day. Costs nothing to be pleasant & patient. I just bought a comic book from this store, and I thought it was the first print but it ended up being a reprint. It was overpriced for being a reprint. I wish they would have been upfront about the fact that it was a reprint. It was not worth what I paid for it and have lost money on it. FYI, they don’t take returns.

I have shopped at Time Tunnel since it was owned by the previous owners in the old location strip mall. And no, I dont recommend the other comic shop to buy comics either as they are a gaming store and never have a wide selection or interest in back issues. I shopped at Time Tunnel for the last time today unfortunately. I believe this shop should just go to online sales as it is impossible to shop in their small store. They have online orders spread all over the back stock comics making it impossible to even look through them. Not to mention the boxes and piles marked Not Priced Yet or Not for Sale strewn about the store. This isnt just something that happened today, but the last few times Ive been in there. The owner is friendly enough to say hello when you walk in, but he has snapped at me in the past for looking in a OPEN box below back stock comics that he said werent processed yet. And no, they werent marked as such. He was having a bad day I guess? This is a LCS that wants be an online retailer. If youre local, this is the only real place to go for your new books. If youre not, Id recommend looking elsewhere sadly. I also miss the discounts that the previous owners would offer when I bought older books, it kept me coming back.RESPONSE: Its the last few times combined with all the other times Ive entered the store and had issues that has led me to not shop time tunnel any more. And I should have to ask you to move items around in order to shop and spend money at your store? This was an issue before the pandemic and I was told in the past that those items couldnt be moved because they were being sorted, so I left as I have had to do many times before. My time and travel are just as valuable as the money I spend and many times both have been wasted. Like I said above, if you want a local store in Hickory to buy comic books, Time Tunnel is the only place and I hope your experience is better than mine.

Been by this store 4 times now. 3 of those the store had a closed early sign on it during listed business hours. The one time they were open there were posters laying on top of long boxes that couldnt be touched? Ive been in most of the comic stores still open in the state. First time Id been told to pull the box out vs moving the clutter. If you arent open when you say you are; at least have things available to go through? Great selection of books when you can get to them.

Marvelous unique store that has just about everything comics related plus an expert in the field owner. Whether new books or golden age, they know what’s going on. They’re also online sellers and co sponsor of the very popular Hickory Con. TTC will also buy old comics, cards and toys at a fair price. A real benefit to comic, superhero and gaming fans in the Unifour area that most cities don’t have.

Ive been buy over the years as Ive moved in and out of the area. Always nice, honest, helpful. When covid hit, he was very flexible helping me find dnd stuff as well as comics. He offered curbside service and went out of his way with my weird work service to help me. I cannot say enough good about this place.

This store is a great gem in a small town where you wouldnt expect one. I enjoyed this store more than the 2 I visited in Charlotte. It has a variety of things for collectors- statues, current figures, old and new comics. All reasonably priced to sell, not so high that they collect dust waiting for a rare, wealthy corrector. This is a model comic shop.

Great place to buy comics, and a ridiculously large selection to choose from. Collectibles and cards are available as well, but they dont have any Pokémon cards. Friendly staff and clean interior, location is okay but its surrounded by 2 one-way streets. Recommend coming here if youre looking for older comics.

Listen people, if youre into comics and other geek like material, please come here! As an up and coming comic fan, the owners have been extremely helpful in feeding my geeky addictions. These people are really helpful, and if you need comics, this is the right place to find them.

Ok. I was in the shop about fifteen minutes and no one spoke to me. Only when I went out the door did someone tell me to have a good day. Id had a much better day had someone asked if I could be assisted. Their inventory looks good, especially compared to the other shop in the area. However, I couldnt find anything I needed, and the clerk was conversing with who I assume is a regular.

New review. Im a new customer (as far as the Time Tunnels subscription service goes). Ive been going to the Time Tunnel since I first moved to Hickory (since 2014). The customer service is top notch!! Bob, Jake & John always ensure that you have a great time and they always will reorder anything you may miss (as far as comic books go). They have an extensive back issue selection as well as a huge comic wall with many, many key issues from the golden age to current (including variants). They also have an extensive POP! Figure selection, statues and graphic novels. They also host Magic: The Gathering and Yugioh events. If I could give them more than 5 stars I certainly would. Wicked friendly customer service; great store to visit; awesome to purchase items from. HIGHEST POSSIBLE RECOMMENDATION if you are in the Hickory, NC area!!!!

Ive been coming to this shop for many years now, and I must honestly say, Ive never felt more welcome and accepted in any shop as much as I have this one. The staff is amazing, extremely helpful, and know how to make you feel at home. Jacob was especially kind, helpful and willing to answer any questions that I had, he even made some good reading recommendations for comics that I now love and might have not known about otherwise. This store is like one big family to me. I would highly recommend that anyone looking for a good comic book shop to frequent, to stop by here immediately!

Ive been frequenting this store for about 8 years now. Fantastic selection of comics, trading cards, and numerous other collectibles. The staff has always been helpful and very knowledgeable. Seeing any negative reviews of this place really caught me off guard, as I find it hard to believe anyone other than their competitors (I use this term quite loosely here) would ever have an issue. I wholly recommend this establishment to anyone looking for any form of collectible. As I said, Ive been shopping here for the past 8 years, and will continue to bring them my business as long as Im living in the commutable vicinity.

A great environment to read books and play games. If youre interested in any new and some old comics I couldnt recommend a better place, and if youre looking for a place to play games this is one of the best around. Not only is the product and environment great the employees are top notch. Do yourself a favor and check it out some time.

Good selection, prices sometimes too high. They once told me there was no way I could find a newly released magic product for anything lower than 45$. I went directly to the next card shop and got the same product for 30$Edit:I appreciate the response, it helps clear things up from a funny situation almost a year ago. I have been to a lot of comic shops in NC and surrounding and this one is one of my favorites. Anytime time Im in town i stop by and pick up a few back issues. Its a real comic shop. Loads of sorted books and a ton of boxes with 1.00 dollar books. I enjoy hunting for some of the lesser known titles I might have missed when they were new. In short I always enjoy stopping by.

Dirty, unorganized and overpriced

The only place to go in Hickory for games and comics as far as Im concerned. Whether youre digging through dollar boxes, looking for great quality key issues on the board, signing up for your own folder (which I highly recommend), hanging out to play games or grabbing a new figure or ten.. this place has extremely knowledgeable staff and a great selection. And if they dont have it, Jake will order it for you.

I’ve been holding off but the more I think about it the angrier I get. August of last year I was helping a friend out by taking his comics and trying to find out values and sell for him because he was needing to pay medical bills. I took a stack to Time Tunnel at their new location and took them in to find out if they were worth any video. The new owner looked at my books and one inperticular he was showing interest in. The Amazing Spider-Man 300. I asked him what it may be worth and what he would possibly buy it for. He told me the last 2 he had he only got $30 for and he said he would give half of that for it which is $15. I still didn’t know what these were worth. He told me I’m lucky to get any money out of the comics I had. Well before taking one persons advice I had someone else also look at these and he basically showed me that this new owner either is trying to get stuff for nothing or he doesn’t jnow what he’s talking about. I wound up selling the Spider-Man 300 for $450 by itself. So for him to go and offer me $15 for a $450 comic is just a joke. I don’t know the owners name but he has long hair and a weird beard. All I can say is I will never go back there. Also for his time looking at the books I purchased a set of bags and boards so it’s not like I went in there and wasted his time for nothing.

Great place, always has been. The place is under new management now. The old owners were bought out by a young man, so time will tell how well it does or how much longer it stays open.

I thought time tunnel comics and toys was awesome they had a big selection of newer comics but also had a huge selection of older comics. They also had a big selection of pop figures. There is a big wall of expensive comics behind the cash register that the owner has collected over time. There are lots of boxes with hundreds of comics in them. There is not a lot of room to move around but it was worth it going.

Went there on a Thursday night at 7pm with my 2 kids. I was all set out to pick up some my little pony comics for my daughter and some Anita Blake graphic novels for my girlfriend when I figured it would be a good time to ask if they had the dark matter comics at all. The guy got up from eating his burrito in the back and said hold on. He then proceeded to answer the phone and talk for 15 minutes about the new pre-release comics with someone before finally coming back to me and saying, that was a boss so I had to talk that long, but we may have that trendy comic but it would be in the dollar comic holders. I asked if he could narrow it down to a section since there was a lot and his response was, we dont do anything with them since those are only a dollar. well my friend you have just lost out on thousands of dollars of sales from a family of comic readers because your customer service skills are lacking. You could have put the phone down and told me this or even not be so arrogant for describing something I wanted to read as trending because you didnt like it. I do not recommend anyone shopping here. I will drive to some other town or order online before I ever shop here.

Not the most friendly store, but much better now than before. Lots of bargain comics, and prices on more expensive comics are on par with what youd pay online. This new location is smaller, but makes better use of the space.

I wanted to get back in to comics in 2015 and really didnt know where to start, I asked a friend about some shops and went to several including Time Tunnel. I went in during the afternoon and it wasnt too busy but I probably had 100 questions about where to start and what to read. Jake was the associate that took the time to answer all of my questions and he was a huge help. Most probably wouldve dismissed me after the 5th question but he continued answering my questions and providing information that I needed to really decide what books I wanted to read to get into it. This was over 2 years ago and the service has never changed, I commonly have questions or need books ordered and Jake does it with a smile. He will pull books he thinks I m ight have interest in and shows me when I pick up stuff from my list and if I have no interest he will put them back out, but its always a book I end up enjoying.I know this is a long winded review but I cant speak highly enough about this shop and especially Jake, this isnt just treatment I receive I have seen many people get the same attention when Ive come by to hang out and pick up my books. If youre looking for a great place to get your comics, collectibles, and cards this is it!

There will be hundreds of dealers and thousands of attendees. Jake is too nice a guy to rebut criticism and sincerely tries to accommodate even the worst complainers and malcontents. Nobody in this business can please everybody. Lots of people think stores can pay full retail values for anything they want to sell. Likewise, others think a niche business can afford to give away HTF products. But ya cant stay in business that way. The people of Hickory and surrounding areas are very fortunate to have an honest, savvy and knowledgeable businessman like Jake Edwards to meet their comic, gaming and collectible needs. Jake will even pay you cash money for items he needs. Many shops only offer trades or store credit. I personally believe some of these false negative google comments are likely driven by cronies of his competition simply because Jake is so well liked and successful. But well always be the founders. After 17 years of serving the Unifour, it was time for us to move on to other ventures. And, we had the best possible comic and gaming guy around wanting to buy out the store, relocate and improve it. Jake Edwards was the perfect man for the job. He is THE most comic and gaming savvy person I know. Plus, Jake works about all the time. The new store location is just the right size, has ample parking and is easy to access. Jake has changed out and boosted the type of stock carried. I was always into antique and classic toys, which there is not really much of a market for other than online. I am really impressed with all the popular new comic and gaming related merchandise that Jake has installed to replace it. Ive visited the new location several times and think its great! The store is filled with goodness. Funny, now Im buying products instead of selling them. Every time Ive been by there the place is busy, busy, busy. Thanks to everybody past and present that kept Time Tunnel Comics going, and continued good luck to Jake and co.
