I give this Stop and Shop 5 stars because of a cashier named John. He was so funny and entertaining to me and my friend. He have this vibe that you could hangout with and have a few drinks. So is a cashier named Monique who seems to be fun also.πThis Stop and Shop seems to be a little smaller but I it has a lot of memories. It seem to be smaller than the other Stop and Shop, I been too. I use to come her a lot when I lived in Edison right off of the boarder of Highland Park. Seems like its a much lesser section.
The store is nice but, a little small. I am mainly writing this review because of a very friendly employee. His name is John. It started off when I was waiting with my mom while she was deciding upon what to buy. He came up to us and asked how we were doing. Then he engaged in conversation. A few minutes later, my brother came so he asked how he was doing. Then when we were waiting in line, he was talking to the man in front of us about something on his shirt that he knew about. He was very friendly and sweet.
For a Stop & Shop, this is a pretty good store. They manage to pack a lot into a small space, and the people there are very nice. At first I was thrown off by the first aisle, which I thought was all of the produce and dairy - which would have been very limited, but there are full and complete produce and dairy sections elsewhere. I guess the first aisle is for quick grab, but it also contains the Kosher food section and all of the meat. Its a little confusing. My only complaint, which is the same with all grocery stores lately, but serious nonetheless, is that the store uses way too much plastic. All of the beef, chicken, and pork comes pre-packaged in plastic - theres no butcher to wrap what you want in paper. Every item in the bakery comes in a non-recyclable plastic clamshell or something like that. And even the deli puts your freshly sliced cold cuts in a plastic bag! Shame! Because plastic and microplastic pollution is such a serious problem I have to take 2 points for that one, even though its the same at most stores (Ill take 2 off for them too).
The Stop & Shop in Highland Park is AWFUL even compared to other Stop & Shops. The prices are higher than other locations and the selection of items is more limited. Many of the products on sale this week were out of stock this morning. They had been out of stock since they went on sale four days ago. This is typical of this Stop & Shop. Highland Park has no other markets. If there were, the residents would not put up with a store as bad as this.
I shop here as its a block away. They are usually out of things sometimes and the prices are a bit higher than other supermarkets but I will still go here someones cause its convenient
Convenient to Rutgers University. Good prices. Parking entrance is easy to miss.
Been shopping here regularly since the beginning of the pandemic and I always feel safe. The aisles are one way and its never too crowded when I go. Store employees are very nice and extremely helpful. Produce, meat, bakery and deli items are always fresh. The Go rewards program is awesome!
Store is clean. Seems to me that some items are overpriced but not sure due to the situations with all that is happening in our country with hackers and the like. I will continue to shop here and hope prices go down. May have to eat less meats and more vegetables. Healthier and a much needed change for self.
The staff here are always friendly and helpful. The lines are usually quick. The selection is really nice. Dont ask to use the staff restroom, its kind of nasty. But one day my little boy didnt have a choice.
I always say, Stop & Shop is the Walgreens of grocery stores. Expensive for convenience. However, its a clean store and a great place to pick up everyday items in a hurry. I wont exactly say its the place to do all your grocery shopping as it is limited. Also, there are certain exclusive items youll find at Stop & Shop that you wont find in your major grocery stores.
It is just like its name Stop and Shop, but you really cant find much variety of anything here. I went looking for meatless burgers and radishes, I found none of those. I am not too familiar with Kosher food but they seem to have a great big selection of it so that is nice. Also, customer service was superb! So not bad at all, just not enough variety.
I live down the street so I am here all the time. Very clean, stocked all the time. They have a bit less choices of products, but Im not a picky brand eater. Good sales and good coupons on the app. They also do reward points so that when you spend money, you literally get 10% back towards your next purchase. Only complaint is there is not self checkout which is just my preference when Im trying to get in and out.
I needed a few things and didnt have time to go to Costco. I found a $5 off coupon in my email while I was in the store, clipped it to my card, went to check out, and didnt get $5 off. Small selections, high prices and slowest coupon system. Its a wonder this chain still exists.
Sadly, half of the over priced organic fruits were almost rotten, noticing at home only. The hysterical cashier was almost having a panic attack and was close to a nervous breakdown as well. Even thought the location is good, I make an effort to never go there again. Very poorly run business.
The paper bag you guys have are useless they rip too easily and there still a waste to the environment honestly shouldnβt never changed it. my bag rip on the way home and everything spilled it is cheap and useless.
Ridiculously over priced, customer service is sub-par, and its outdated . Highland Park deserves better
Too expensive and a really limited inventory. One cashier in particular is always rude. Itβs within walking distance to me but definitely not worth it.
A bit pricey but the people working there are usually helpful.
Typical Stop & Shop. It doesnt have the widest variety of food nor does it have anything special but its fine for what it is. Good customer service though which helps a lot.
Always come in the morning, great managers specials. Especially for people that eat pork!! A lot of people donβt eat pork in Highland Park so it goes on sale quick!!
ABSOLUTELY π― GREAT SERVICE
Small selection, but naturally itβs the best (in fact only) place in town. So itβs definitely nice to walk to.
I really dont have any problems with the store for the most part. Its clean, It is very convenient when I just need a few items, and sometimes I catch a good sale on a product that I need or buy on a regular basis. However, my pet peeve would is being charged again for bags. The charges stopped in the beginning of the pandemic. Although the pandemic is still in existence, customers are once again being charged for bags. I dont think that is fair to resume charging for the bags since we are still in a pandemic. Also the store failed to give advanced notice of the change. The store couldve at least posted signs in advance to give us customers a heads up. Rather than to just spring it on us and give a very unpleasant surprise after our things are rung up on the register.
Very clean and organized store with good prices. The distance from my home is super convenient. They dont have much of a pharmacy/beauty section but you can find most necessities. They often run some great sales and 10 for $10 promos which are always a plus.
I love the grocery store. Better shop to purchase
Good place to shop
Good prices.friendly staff.great Passover desert choices
Smaller location but convenient and has great selection of everything.
Much smaller than I expected and not a very large selection of items. Feels a little dingy honestly. Staff is very nice and friendly. Good for a quick trip to get essentials but I will be going to the much larger Stop and Shop off of Rte 130 for regular grocery shopping.
Very goodπππβοΈβΌοΈ
Great store for the footprint. Clean, has most of anything you can need. Employees are nice, deli employees are patient, which is rare. Fresh food, convenient.
Nice variety and helpful staff
Waiting no body work at customers service break time
Its a smaller store than the one I normally shop, but still great people at checkout etc.
The prices were high, the store was small very little selection and customer service was pitiful and the ATM has only a 200.00 limit . All in all Ill never go back !
They never have everything. Produce section needs some assistance
I always wish this place had more options for dietary limitations and more options in general.
This is a GREAT little store. The shelves are always stocked, the produce and meat are fresh and the staff are SO friendly!! I am so glad I live close and always leave that store smiling. Its nice that they take pride in customer service and make shopping there a pleasure. Thank you Highland Park Stop and Shop - I love you guys! Keep up the great work!
This Stop and Shop is quite small but has everything you need. Staff is friendly and the location is very clean and neat. Parking space is never an issue.Plus, if you need Kosher/Halal stuff then they have a lot of that.
This Stop & Shop is pretty clean and has a very good variety of food. They have a huge amount of vegetables and fruits. Their staff is not as friendly. Overall, this store is good and I highly recommend it.
Far too over priced and two specific cashiers that have been there awhile are pretty annoying. One is down right rude.
Good place to shop. Line moves relatively quickly. Youβll need mask to enter (2020)
Went early Saturday. Small purchase. Inviting and well laid out (but produce in two separate aisles a little confusing). Tom my cashier (maybe a manager?) was great. I could tell he was committed to his profession and dedicated to helping his customers.
Great COVID practices. People dont always follow it, but what can you do? Service is always top notch.Updating review: Deli meats - particularly pre-packaged ones like Oscar Meyer - have been seen on multiple occasions to be green/grey. On one occasion this occurred with meat in the butcher shop, and with a grab and go pack of cold cuts.Everything else there has been fine so far, but that could really hurt someone - hence the low score.
Great people. Unreal selection for size of store. Has A&H Kosher dogs, a real find. Produce and organic produce could be better selection
Bring the plastic bags back please. The prices on their food is expensive as it is....and they make you buy bags with handles! Ridiculous!
This is a smaller version of Stop & Shop. It has most items that the regular Supermarket has. The store is welcoming and the staff makes you feel happy to be there. It is my preferred Supermarket. If you need Kosher food, it is above average.
My favorite place to shop for last minute items and things we didnt get in bigger stores like Costco. It is a very friendly place, I bring my three small kids, and they love free fruit basket. They also have some activities for kids on Saturdays. We can walk to the store which is a big plus. I like bring your own bag action, I wish more stores would encourage people to use less plastic.
Good customer service. It is a little pricey sometimes but main reason I give it three stars is UNCLEAR PRICING. There been several times when I thought something was on sale because the price below indicates a sale and it wasnt on sale. There also been a few time where ive even asked the cashier to make sure and they told me it was only for me to get home and realize it wasnt on sale.
Clean and good sales prices
Stop & Shop is super expensive in comparison to ShopRite or Walmart. They do have some great store brands, and occasionally have some good sales that make it worth the trip. I would recommend this place for a quick stop (a few items), but not for an entire grocery run, especially if youre watching your wallet.
Nice place to shop always have items in stock
I work in another location, this one is closer to my home so I stopped in with my fiancΓ©, and basically got told to get out by a bunch of men crowed around customer service booth. All of which were very rude and gave me a hard time about the face shield I wear to go into work( supplied by my store), as well as Shop in other places with. Talked over my fiancΓ© and continued to talk down to me. Will NEVER step foot inside the Highland park store again. If this is how they treat other employees how do they really treat the customer? Not the first time in this store the employees treated me like this, but definitely the last.
I like shopping here. They have fresh bread everyday
Good store, very convenient
Is very clean and people very nice
Great prices
Where the heck else can you walk to a major supermarket chain? Not to mention 3 pharmacies. S-S, not the cheapest or most expensive, has a pretty good selection of stuff, even for the devout in town.
I love this store! Cashiers are always helpful and I love how small it is. I have never had a bad experience here.
Good selection for a smaller footprint site and really friendly staff.
Small but more than adequate for essentials. No crowd
Frech foods, conveniently located
This store is very convenient for those who live in HP. They also have good sales fairly often. On the other hand they have the most irregular supply/stocking schedule. Its always a guess if theyll have something in stock, even if they had it a week ago. Furthermore while some of the cashiers are amazingly friendly, a majority are quite surly, even for NJ.
We took a Lift from the Dr office he decided to drop us off here to wait for another Lift. Tried to buy a money order for rent unable because my husband left his ID at home. She customer service representative) found an excuse to refuse me with ID. Prices were high$$$ and I felt people who Brown skin can work yet not encourage a customers. I will not return.
The worst cashiers and the best cashiers in world work together at this stop n shop. The lady who is on line 2 is the worst; her attitude just ruins the rest of my day. The management is well aware of her conditions but doesnt value customer experience as much.On the other hand, there is this guy who is the friendliest man in NJ who works there as well. So Im confused which one to take as the face of this establishment.Besides convenience, I see no other reason to shop here.
It was a decent experience. This time using their bathroom it was reasonably clean. However, they need to improve on their organic staple item section. They didnt have any gluten free all purpose flour and no white chia seeds. Also, they didnt have any fresh organic cilantro in their produce section. If you want to purchase organic green squash, they only sell it two in a package at a ridiculous price of $3.99. I can get far more than two bars of green squash by the pound at Whole Foods Market. This Stop and Shop Supermarket needs a serious make over. Their produce, bakery, and Deli section has little to offer compared to their other markets in Central and Northern, NJ areas.
Sometimes the produce and meat at this store are past their use dates. The rotisserie chickens are exceptional. This store is convenient for me.
Not as much veggie and herb selection as most other places.... and seafood section is just frozen
Staff is extremely friendly and helpful. Only reason it didnt get 5 stars is because the place is unorganized and can be difficult finding what you need. While there, I witnessed 3 people not including myself running back and forth looking for items that werent where they would normally be in most grocery stores. Even the staff wasnt sure where some things were, but that didnt stop them from going out of their way to help you find what youre looking for. The staff is the reason I didnt give this place 1 star. Excellent Crew.
Everyone there is awesome helped me find apple cider vinegar and organic cranberry juice. Always friendly. Always helpful.
This is a fine small grocery store. Limited selection, but hits all the major needs for a quick trip for a missing item or late minute need. Tiny deli and no fresh meats and seafoods--youll have to go elsewhere for that. They do, however, have a decent selection of Kosher and vegetarian/vegan products.
Not as good as shop rite
24hr open shop, its got daily used items, common vegetables, raw red/white meat. Very convenient place to go to.
For a smaller market they have a nice selection of products, fresh produce and helpful staff. I always shop here.
Thanks stop & shop for providing me with fresh axtail every Sunday morning . I search high and low for it, great store
A sad stop n shop.. The only grocery store in Highland Park and they take advantage of it. Stock levels are poor and items are frequently out of stock. This is a very small store compared with other stop n shops and the selection of items is much smaller. The look and feel of the store is like a stop n shop from the sixties that has never been updated. Narrow aisles, worn out floor tiles, water stained ceiling tiles.... very depressing environment. If you dont drive this is your only grocery option in Highland Park ΰ² οΈ΅ΰ² . If you have a car . . . . prices,, selection and cheery store environments await you at nearby modern grocers.
Eh, Im not that impressed with this Stop & Shop location. The over all feel of the store seems unkempt and a bit dull. There is usually almost always a lack of hand baskets. Deli selection appears to be limited as compared to other locations. It is in an easy to access central spot though, which is great. Makes for a quick trip in a pinch.
This store is just how I remember it. I when back in time and it has charm to it and its in Beautiful highland Park and its a great town to walk around.
I have a terrible experience almost every time I come here. Most of the cashiers are very unpleasant . I had a terrible experience with cashier Sarah, she gave me an attitude after I tried getting cash back from my card. She answered with an attitude asking me why I didnβt ask ...If cash back is not available, there should be a sign on the machine letting the customer know that. Instead of answering with an attitude, all she had to do was tell me that it was not available . The cashiers here lack basic social skills!
Small, but convenient; friendly people at the cash registers
Small with no seafood department. Produce and meat departments are good
The staff was very polite and the food selection was pretty good. They have a lot of the basics at competitive costs.
Good selection fair prices customer service a bit lacking but thats part for the course everywhere these days and I find frustrating.
This is a smaller, more neighborhood type store so maybe not ideal for your weekly grocery shopping trip. But its great to have a supermarket within walking distance and they have all the essentials including deli counter. The store is clean, staff is mostly friendly and managers have been responsive on the few occasions I had a problem over the past few years.
Tonight was quick. Got what I needed, and was out
I always find the store well-stocked. And they stay open later than many other food stores.
Its clean, but pretty small. Doesnt have all the options Im looking for when I need specific items, but its very convenient location and has the essentials on what you need.
I love this store π
Its ok, but due to the small size theres less of a selection than other grocery stores. However, if you live in or around Highland Park, it definitely saves you a drive. Staff here are super friendly and great!
Its way too expensive. Everything is over priced. I went in to get sweet potatoes and it was 2 for $3. Everything else was also $1-3 more than other stores. I went to rite Aid for some of my needs and they were cheaper than stop n shop
Store could be stocked better; lots of sale items not available; store could be a lot cleaner; expiration dates should be adhered to; many items are past the expiration date.
Love the place and the people working there. Friendly and healthy.
I go here for convenience only. Not the worst but not in my top 3 places to go grocery shopping
Terrible customer service, I was using wic and I have right to have one juice, long story short they donβt have this juice at that time it finished so I took other juice less onces that the juice I have right but they didnβt accept anything rather give me this or give credit so I can take when they have in order not to lose my money... but the βsupervisorβ who is there to solve the problem didnβt solve anything just tell me we donβt have now you canβt take anything and I lose my right to take my product... itβs not fair and itβs not about the money itβs about how they can put those kind of people who are are not able to solve problem if she canβt solve this small issue I canβt imagine other problems
Very upset came in to buy beef, lettuce, onion, and pita bread .The beef looked good until I got it home and opened the package and the bottom was all grey like it was very old.then I chopped up the lettuce which must of been frozen at some point because it had ice inside of it and tasted terrible, and to finish off my experience the onion I got was rotted on the inside so I highly recommend not shopping at this location and they should be investigated because that is not right4 items 3 bad is terrible I for one will not be shopping at this location anymore and I live 5 blocks away.i will be driving 3 miles away to get good items that arenβt rotted
My local store. Most employees are friendly and helpful. Excellent deli people.
The service at this store is simply terrible. The employees are rude and will lecture you and argue with you. I go out of my way to not shop here and every time I do I regret it.
High pricing ....limited selections
I found everything I needed. The check out was fast and friendly. I would highly recommend this Stop & Shop
