Dear lord, may God have mercy on the old man and his business. I like to visit different stores to check inventory, precision ammo and such, I wouldnt buy from him if he was a 1/3 the cost of retail, funny thing is, hes not. I have a few friends that own FFLs and I know how it goes, but the prices were outrageous. Definitely taking advantage of people however he may. Pretend this place of business does not exist and you will be better off.If you are the owner, just know its the experience and service that sells. Not whats on the counter.Would give anyone with lack of 2a experience a terrible taste in our rights.
Old school gun shop with a terrible owner. Owner makes no effort to have conversations with customers and will flat out ignore you sometimes upon entering the store. Price gouging is insane; I understand smaller retailers cant get ammo but $80 for 20 rounds of 7.62x39, lord jesus help you. This store probs deserves to go under and I wouldnt feel bad if it did.
Had a great visit and was able to get what I needed. Professional and Knowledgeable. The kind of gun shop that makes big box store look like amateurs.
Went in today and he has a baggie of 45acp fed about 50 rds for 70$. Not really pleasant as I overheard a phone transaction with a customer. Its a shame it isnt in the worst spot but high prices and his attitude ruined the nice looks of the store.
We went here and the owner was nice, he really went that extra mile to help us. We are going back because its a nice maw and pa gun store, something history loss but needed to keep. God bless the owner and his wonderful family.
1st off I want to say to the one stars you need to go to more shops if you think this guy is overpriced. Yes certain popular calibers were more than they have before but that is the same at every shop because of covid. I stopped at over 5 shops in The greater Columbus area And this small shop had more variety than all of them.He still had small pistol primers when Cabelas and Vance outdoors were out.Yeah he seemed kinda grouchy but thats the same of every gun shop owner Ive ever met thats over the age of 50 except 1 and that guys way too nice to people.Good variety of guns, ammo and surplus. Probably has more surplus guns then all of Columbus guns shops combined.
Keep up the price gouging! Word is getting around.
My sweet old mother stopped by for 2 small boxes of shot gun shells in order to prepare for a day of shooting with the family, and because she didnt know any better, the owner of this establishment charged her, someone who works extremely hard for the little money she has, $70 for something that could have been picked up at Walmart yesterday for a total of $10. And then refused a refund when we tried to bring them back in. The owner of this establishment is the lowest of the low, and the mere fact that hes a part of this community in old Hilliard is upsetting to me.
They broke the mold on this man. highly knowledgeable and tells it how it is. Check your entitled attitude at the door. You show respect and respect will be given. Great selection of unique weapons.
Best customer service experience Ive had in a very long time. I will give my business to Jim before I deal with any big box store!
Highest prices around. Anything in stock can be found in Central Ohio at a fraction of the cost. Prices on ammo magically doubled during the corona panic. Save your time, save your money, shop somewhere else.
I like Gun World because it’s unique. If you are just an average weekend shooter or entry level shooter, I recommend going to vances or a larger retail shop. The Owner of Gun World has military experience and keeps a lot of the more “old school” and rare OEM gun parts in stock. This helps a ton if you are looking for a particular magazine for an older gun. My personal experience - he replaced the grip on my S&W .357 while I was at the store free of charge. I purchased the new grip after he showed me how to install and that it fit. Overall a great, nostalgic, and knowledgeable experience.
The owner decided to dramatically increase prices during the pandemic and state of emergency. I dont mean a slight increase, complete price gouging, ex. Hand gun ammo $55 for 50 rounds, no matter the brand or caliber. This is wrong on so many levels. Boycott.
Do not go here. The owner is very mean and gets angry very easily if you aren’t careful. I’ve had bad experiences with him more than once. Do not go here. If you need gun supplies and such, go to a better place.
Great selection of really interesting firearms. If you’re looking for an antique I’d definitely recommend this place above all others. Owner greeted me when I walked in and was very helpful.
This is an old school gun shop. Lots of interesting historical and memorabilia. Some army surplus stuff. Gun selection and prices are typical of a small business.
Great store located in old Hilliard. Owner was very informative on everything. He has a great selection of old and new guns and everything related to WWl,WWII, Vietnam. Can order and get you anything you would like. If he doesn’t have it in the store he can order it and have it within days for you. He will beat any price from competitors. Would go back again!
The old guy that owns the place is an ahole. He was rude in 1994 when I bought a pistol from him (only place I could find it) and he has been rude every time I have gone in. We go to the restaurant next door to his store and I stop in his store after we eat just to make him talk to me. What a waste of a human being.
Terribly small shop also dirty. Understaffed even for having such small selection. A gun was offered to be put on hold for me (didnt ask for deposit or I would have gladly done so) and went back the very next day and it was sold. I highly suggest purchasing firearms from a much more professional setting. Very disappointed. Other places I suggest going 1st: Vances, Power Room, LEPD
Price gouging customers to ridiculous levels durning high demand just shows what kind of business this is. Fueled by greed and bad business practices.
I liked this store. Surprisingly well stocked for a non chain store. The hand there is no-nonsense and to the point but professional and helpful. Prices seemed reasonable but, for the location of this store on main street hilliard, convenience and adjacent eateries was a plus. For my needs I will make it my go to store.
Ammo is ridiculously over priced, sells .223 for .70 cents a round. Would recommend shopping elsewhere
During a time of crisis they decided to price gouge their customers and his community. Charged me $50 for a 50 piece 9mm ammo box that usually retails for $18. That’s a $32 mark up. Only the owner was working, there was another lady on a chair but didn’t help with anything. Shop at a different place!!! Other places keep their prices normal in a time of need.
The old guy, not sure if hes the owner or just an employee but he is the reason I will never go back. If hes not the owner, the owner should fire him. If he is the owner, then shame on him, he doesnt know how to deal with the public. He was rude and disrespectful and quite honestly... not very knowledgable. I will make sure to tell all my gun friends to stay away from this place.
Guy was great let me browse then when i had a question he answered it and informed me of other items he does have that i might like better as well as informed me on laws and items i needed to keep my gun nice and clean instead of pointing and making me get it off the shelf he came around the counter and picked up what he thought would do the trick for me and all and all was great experience as i can be difficult and he took care of me flawlessly and great prices will have my money every time i want to purchase a gun
My boyfriend and I went in to look around and there was 2 guys working and no other customers. No one said anything, not hi, can I help you. Customer service is horrible.
There are a lot of very bad Gun World reviews. Ive been in there several times, and it is always important to bring cash. They do have the 3% up charge for credit/debit cards. But, there is a Chase bank directly across the street with an ATM outside. If you look at the higher prices, they are usually only a $1 or $2 above wal-mart prices for ammo & accessories. In my opinion, it beats dealing with the wal-mart traffic. Plus, they usually have a couple boxes of ammo for everything or maybe a magazine for that off-brand gun you have.I understand the customer service can be a little different, but hell answer questions when asked. If you sat at a gun store every day for that many years, you would be a little rusty with your personal skills too. I usually feel free to walk around, and try to find what Im looking for before asking any questions.Updated from a year later: I still stop in from time to time every couple months. Usually only when looking for something specific. Ammunition prices are good for the common stuff; 5.56, 7.62x39mm, etc.
Lots of better places with much better customer service in the area than here, in my experience dealing with this business.
Look, say what you will about this place. I would rather give him the $ than go to another store. Background was fast, purchased and out the door in 15 minutes, made his day, and mine
I was greeted and asked what and how I may be helped? I was told that he didnt have what I was looking for, but what problem was I having that I thought I needed a new magazine for my gun? After explaining my problem with my Hi Power, the owner got his personal Hi Power out to show me what he thought the problem may be, and what I could do before spending money on something I may not need. This was a gun owner helping a gun owner with knowledge that was free of charge. I googled Gun World in Hilliard, Ohio to get the phone number and name to call and say thank you because it worked!!! Tried it out today, fed and ejected as he said it should! Thanks again
Called about a Glock I could not find anywhere in Columbus. Had 1 in stock, was there in 25 mins and out the door within 10. Has a lot of interesting weapons and collector items. No complaints and will go back to make additional purchases.
Sells ammo at 3x the price, rude, and doesnt like answering questions.Save your money and shop somewhere else.
Went to restaurant beside it, had the family so i went back the next day. had a lot of old stuff. didnt have what i was looking for. bought a box of .22. old man was not friendly at all. and hes cheap, make sure you take cash he charges you to use credit cards. if im going to buy a 500.00 gun and you make me pay more to use bank card. im going elsewhere. you can always get the same gun w/o paying that extra 3%.first and last time I go there again. nothing exciting.
Just called in to inquire about a weapon I recently purchased to see if they could tell me anything about it and they were very rude and basically tod me in order for him to help me learn about the origin of the rifle he was going to charge me anywhere from 20 dollars on up.... Ridiculous.. Not only that he was rude as hell. If he would have approached the conversation differently I was looking to mount a sight as well as make a few purchases for the rifle.... Their loss... Screw em!!! go else where this place is a rip off!!!!
I ran from the prices!
The owner is extremely knowledgeable and helpful.
Gun prices are high and they charge 3% extra if you use credit card to pay. owner of the store is helpful but not a customer service oriented person.
Service was very knowledgeable and friendly. Had all kinds of great stuff I wanted but since budget was short I just got 10mm silvertip hps and a glock20 mag. Vances never has either, especially factory glock mags and this place had two of my super rare full-size 10mm mags. I used to be a devout vances consumer but now they are going to be my backup incase I cant get whatever I need at gunworld.
Known these people for almost 30 years - never a probem - always above board & directRex
I found the guy very rude and unfriendly. Two days after dropping off a couple of guns for consignment I decided to go back and take them home. Glad I did, they were stored on the back shelf collecting dust where no one would ever see them anyways. I will never support a shop that has customer service like this.
Owner is rude and not friendly. Will never spend another dime here.
I read the reviews before I went there and just like everybody said a rude cranky old man and hell charge 3% for using credit card but he had a magazine that I was looking for That I couldnt find in any gun store in Columbus but that cranky old man had it
Very Short and abrupt when trying to have a conversation.
Horrible rude service. never again
The old guy working here is a total douche bag
The guy who works in this store is extremely rude who I think the most unfriendly person Ive met in Ohio. If he can fire his guns at will and I bet he would too.
Sells guns to felons
Higher then average prices
