July 24, 2021 UPDATE:Ed built me a Panzer Telecaster! It is the easiest Tele I have ever played and has excellent clarity thanks to the Fralin Blues Special pickups. See my complete review on Help with a Y (Panzer Handcrafted guitars and repairs, LLC).ORIGINAL REVIEW:I took my used Charvel Pro Mod DK24 to Ed for a set-up after reading his reviews. His work made my Charvel one of the best playing guitars that I have ever touched. I liked it so well that I brought Ed an American Fender Strat for similar treatment. Later, when I decided that I wanted a different sound from my Charvel, Ed walked me through all options from shaping my sound through technique and amp/pedals, to small tweaks and even major component changes. He discussed the value proposition of altering my guitar vs. keeping it original and purchasing a different guitar. In the end, I chose to alter my Charvel. I dont want to give away the trade secrets of what all changes Ed made, but I can honestly say that I will NEVER sell or trade this guitar.Ed is a fantastic luthier and frankly, a fantastic person. He really wants you to achieve your guitar playing goals, and he can help on several fronts. His handcrafted guitars are works of art that have to be played to fully appreciate his skill. His repair work is great with reasonable pricing and timing. He can even help you become your best guitar playing self. I know because I started taking guitar lessons from him after seeing the quality of his work and how he plays. Do yourself a favor and call Ed if you are looking to fix a guitar, to buy a guitar or to be a better guitarist.

I recently needed a setup done on my new Strat and I found Ed online. He was super quick to get back to me and was really helpful with dialing in my guitar exactly how I asked. My new guitar plays beautifully now and I couldn’t be happier!If you looking for a guy who knows what he’s doing and has a passion for it then Ed is your dude. I noticed my acoustic guitar didnt sound right due to some issues with the action and intonation. I did some research around Guitar shops in the area and Panzer Handcrafted Guitars popped up. This guy was super helpful. Fixed my guitar pickup in a couple hours and didnt even charge for it. Great service, expertise and honest. Would very much recommend over a chain store and will definitely take my guitar back the next time I have an issue.

Ed is a kind, professional luthier with a true passion for guitars and helping people get their best out of their instruments. I met Ed through a friend and was not disappointed!! He done some work on my 1954 Gibson and it sounds and plays beautiful. This is your go to guy for anything guitars! Very professional and knows everything there is to know about guitars!

I brought in my new acoustic guitar in because it was sounding a little funny out of the box, Ed knew exactly what the problem was and told me he would get it sounding good. After just a few days Ed had my guitar back to me and it sounded great. You can tell he is extremely knowledgeable and was very professional. I took my prized Strat to Ed Panzer for refretting and a new nut. I happened to find Ed while conducting a search for bass guitar repair. I took over one bass for him to set up and I was more than pleased with the result so much, I have taken Ed more of my bass guitars to set up. He has done basic set up work, adjusted truss rod and replaced nuts on other basses. Ed knows what he is doing and does so with passion and commitment. He is very detailed oriented and listens to my needs and preferences. I am very pleased with his service and turn around time, which is often only 2 or 3 days in my cases.

Ed repaired a crack on the bottom of my Martin Acoustic between the saddle and the bottom of the guitar...It ran the whole length. He also replaced the bridge and nut with bone and did a set up. It plays better than new, sounds great and it was done at a great price. Ed is great guy and his work is excellent and done fast. I have already referred him to all my friends and highly recommend him for all your repairs.

Ed did a stainless steel refret on my Stratocaster. The workmanship was excellent and the turnaround was fantastic! Ed cares about his customers and makes their satisfaction a priority.

Took my newer Gibson SG in to have a pickup replaced. Ed took out the lame circuit board & wired it up old school. Much better now. I also had a chance to check out some of his handcrafted guitars. OMG! These are some amazing & beautiful instruments.

I always wanted my own Telecaster guitar. I was at Woodcraft of Columbus and I met Ed. We were discussing guitars and he showed me a Tele style guitar kit on display there that he had put together himself as part of a plan to offer a guitar building course at Woodcraft. Having almost no experience with woodworking tools, I was a little bit intimidated at first. 60 minutes into the 3 day course, I realized that Ed, who it turns out is an excellent Luthier himself, is also an excellent instructor for anyone interested in putting together their own guitar. His woodworking skills and his underlying knowledge of the electronics of the instrument and mechanics of how to put a guitar together allows his pupil to walk out with an outstanding instrument. I highly recommend him for guitar setup, as a Luthier in his own right, and as an excellent instructor at Woodcraft if youre interested in building your own.
