Disappointed the clothing was not organized or iron. Very expensive for the clothing and hard to see the clothing because of disorganized store. Won’t even go back to consignment for a long time.

Walked in and the woman working was too busy gossiping with her friend about some man being Gods gift to women to stop and acknowledge the fact that a customer had come in. No hello, no nothing. I looked for a couple minutes, but became disgusted that she didnt seem to care whether she made a sale or not. I just left. Wont be back.

I am an avid consignment shopper. It’s a hobby for me. I love the hunt for great quality clothes at reasonable prices. I was eager to try the one consignment store I hadn’t been to yet on Hilton Head: Chella D Consignment Boutique.Unfortunately, I had an unpleasant experience there this morning, and I don’t think I’ll go back. There are plenty of other quality consignment stores on HHI.I didn’t know their hours, and got there this morning at 10:45 wearing my mask. I saw the sign on the door that read they didn’t open until 11, and I was starting to walk away when a woman, getting out of her car, yelled to me, “I’m here.” So I waited while she crossed the parking lot and came over to the store front. I said, “I didn’t know what time you opened, this is my first time here. I’m happy to wait out outside for a few minutes.” She said, “No problem. Come on in,” while she unlocked the door. I noticed she wasn’t wearing her mask; it was around her neck. I didn’t say anything. I started looking around the store. She was chatting a little with me while moving about the store. She wasn’t close to me. A younger woman comes in, maybe 5 minutes later, a co-worker of the older woman. They started loudly chatting about very personal things, a little weird, but no big deal. I was flipping through clothing racks. The younger woman wasn’t wearing a mask either. At one point the older woman gets a little too close to me. I said, “Aren’t you two wearing masks?” The younger woman snaps back, “I put my mask on at 11 when we open. It’s not 11 yet.” I didn’t say anything, didn’t look at either one of them, and calmly walked out of the store. When I got home I told my husband about it. He said, “The one women let you in. So once a customer is in the store, it’s open!” Obviously a good point.It was totally inappropriate to not have their mask on in the store. And the response I received from the younger woman was unacceptable. They have no clue what a good and regular customer I would have been. Oh and when I got outside, the time on my iPhone was 10:58.

This is a dirty place. Their floor had termite and they did not cover the clothes when they had people sanding the floor. One of my friend told me she stepped on dog puff when she was in there. This place is disgusting.

After 3 years of hearing my mom rave about this store, I experienced it for my myself. It is a beautiful store with something for everyone. I love the clothes, shoes and accessories. I had the chance to meet Carol and she really makes you feel at home.

Went in here on vacation in search of a prom dress for my daughter. Lots of gowns in different sizes and styles. Finally found the perfect dress - a navy blue gown with sequined bodice. Gorgeous and fits perfectly. Owner was friendly and helpful and gave us a 20 percent discount. Thanks Chella D.

I can’t say enough good things about Chella D. Not only do they have the best selection of clothing, shoes, and accessories, but I look forward to seeing Carol. She is such a sweet and caring person. I also brought my teenage daughters there last week, and they fell in love with the store. There is something for everyone.

She has really great items in her store. The staff is super friendly and there are so many high fashion gems. Dont sleep go check it out....

I love this store. I have found evening dresses good for black tie events to tee shirts. My teenage daughter loves it too. She has found formal wear to shorts. The women who work here are hilarious. You can find unique clothes, shoes and purses at bargain prices.

Totally amazing!! Totally surprised at the selection and the care of the clothes. Everything was in perfect condition, and affordable. The women who work there are super fun and easy going. I have to admit, that being from Los Angeles, I never thought I would find such a rare gem in South Carolina. Boy was I wrong! Styles for all generations. Check it out.

If I could on Google review select a negative star rating I would. At this point I am in a panic as I took my items to sell because I need the money for them and now realize that I am being treated unprofessionally.Over the past 2.5 months I have taken 59 items to Carol at Chella D for Consignment- I even left items on quality hangers and provided a computer print out listing each item . All were in like new or new with tags condition. I stopped in 6 weeks later EXCITED to see how my sales were going and found that Carol provided me with a printout showing 12 items in inventory of mine NOT 59 - I proceeded to find 4 of my items tagged on the floor with someone else’s number on them. She couldn’t tell me where my other items were or why after 6 weeks they weren’t on the floor or on a printout. I asked her to find them and fix it. I go in today. Print out shows 22 pieces even though I told her and another employee 3 weeks ago my concern and asked that I find a correct print out the next inquiry. She has lost approximately 40 items. Won’t tell me where they are and when I stated that I wish to return Monday to pick up all of my items less the one on the printout she shows sold in over two months and that I will again provide her with the itemized list she said Honey I can’t find them that fast and get an attorney. She WILL NOT EVEN ALLOW me to pick up my items citing their inaccurate records and failures to correct them after 3 weeks and errors admitted and found where they’ve tagged my items under some other “mystery “ number to sell them? Now that seems wrong to me. She made many excuses as to why she cannot get my things together. Where are they?????Several reviews from others online detail experiences that are the same as mine. This shop is not keeping track of inventory and the owner attacks the seller when questioned. I am trying to get my items all of which I have documentation of in list and photograph format and she told me to get an attorney and that I cannot come Monday to get them.This is the most dishonest and unprofessional consignment business I have ever encountered.

Please see my previous review. Unfortunately it is not possible to give zero stars on a Google review. I have spent since August trying to retrieve my belongings dropped off in July after discovering that chela D and the owners do not keep accurate records and after Carol informed me that they had a problem with employees stealing. I have been unable to retrieve a good percentage of my high-end items and spent months trying to resolve this with Donna the other owner during which time I was insulted and repeatedly threatened with legal action and told all of the reasons why I was in the wrong and being too demanding. On numerous occasions I cited the fact that they had other similar complaints and issues noted online. They told me all of those people were crazy and wrong and how long they had been in business and how they had such happy customers. I want to write this review today to let everyone be aware that it this point I have still received not one penny for all of my missing belonging And then in the end I was offered a payout of $440 with Donna informing me that she was going to take a 60% cut their standard consignor fee from the gross amount leaving me with that $440 and that I had a false understanding of the value of my belongings. I explained that I did not think it was right that they would get a fee when they had not sold anything but instead her partner had announced to me that they had been stolen by employees. She told me that she would give me that money but only if I met her at the store and signed a release. I refused and have now filed a claim with the Better Business Bureau . As of the writing of this review they have yet to acknowledge the complaint that is been sent to them from the Better Business Bureau.

As a consigner, this boutique shop was a huge disappointment. The two ladies were very nice and welcoming when I first came in with items to consign, and while I waited for them to eventually go through my items, I did some shopping within the store, which was displayed very professionally.I got a receipt for the items they would take. The stores percentage is 60 percent and 40 percent to the consignor. There is a $1 charge deducted when they write a check and they only write one if the amount exceeds something like $20. When I checked on my account at the appropriate time, the staff could not locate some of the items nor the purchases of such items by others. They claimed that the store was so stuffed that they just couldnt find them right then and would search and call me later. Eventually, it was obvious after several calls to them that the items were lost and never accounted for them. Each time I called or stopped in person, staff promised to search again and find the items and call me. There were no calls to me and no compensation of any kind, not even an apology. I called them repeatedly and asked how this would be resolved and was merely told they would look when they have time and call me back. This happened two more times. The last item I submitted was a Vera Bradley handbag. I have called twice about this bag and any check I have earned and I got the same answer - we are busy now; we will get back to you; and its only one bag and would have been marked way down, implying what do I care about it, and please dont bother us.So, the upshot is, the record keeping and accountability and payments from Chella Ds consignment shop are totally unreliable and sloppy, plus it felt like I was being brushed off when I was trying to locate or get paid for my consigned goods. If you want to consign here, consider it a donation to the two partners running the shop.

DO NOT CONSIGN WITH CHELLA D! I wish I had read other reviews prior to taking in a large amount of quality clothing (White House-Black Market, Cache, Banana Republic, Talbots, J Crew, Sophie Max, INC, Gianni Bini, Liz Claiborne, Lands End, etc.). Many of these still had price tags on them! The White House-Black Market jeans were $169.00 each & I had 5 pair. The Talbots sweaters were $79.00 each-& most had price tags on them. I had some beautiful lightweight seasonal knee length coats that were very expensive from all these vendors. Leather boots from Dillards that were brand new & in the box. I also had moderate clothing, cardigans from Belk house brand, some work-out wear from Kohls, & miscellaneous other pieces. After speaking with Chella D’s told me that they get shoppers from all over the country due to their location on Hilton Head so they can sell almost anything. I bought right into it. I took all my clothing to them. 89 items in total. 36 items were brand new with price tags. And 6 cardigans were new and folded still in their plastic bags that they arrived in via an online order. Bringing the total of brand new items to 42. Almost half of my items.I filled out the paperwork with the owners associate who told me that if I marked the DO NOT DONATE box I would get those clothes that did not sell back. I did that under the presumption that I could then seek out another consignment store & try again with whatever inventory I had that might be leftover. I even reiterated this to her!I did not hear anything from them for a very long time & I live 55 minutes from their store. I would stop by when in the vicinity. Finally I told them to gather all my belonging & I would take them back. That’s when I was told by the owner that most likely all my items were gone & donated already-that it had been too long! That was not my understanding of what her associate had told me. She most assuredly told me I’d get my belongings back. The owner said that I had to know that it’d been too long and that the items had been marked down and they’d never be able to locate them even if they were there… She said the agreement stated that they 1.) do not notify me when the contract is over, 2.) at the end of the contract they become the property of Chella D, 3.) AND any item priced below $50.00 is not subject to return! Of course when you drop your clothing off you have no idea what she’ll be pricing the items at. I never thought theyd price my items so cheap! BEWARE! KEEP READING!In total - supposedly they only sold seventeen (17) of my items over a 10 month period. They did sell one of my $79.00 Talbots sweaters for $22.00. Thus it was always priced under the $50.00 threshold for being returned to me as per the contract as stated above. My take was $8.80 from that sale. The did sell a White House-Black Market jean for $17.80. My return was $7.12. Again it was priced so far below the $50.00 price point I never should have expected to see any of them again… Which I didn’t. Overall - I was paid 109.40. The owner did also give me $30.00 in cash my last visit when I was clearly unhappy with their method of business. Net return for all my clothing was $139.40.These ladies are thief’s. Under the guise of a business. Fortunately I had made an inventory of everything I took in to them. I did receive some work-out items back, but it was clear that they never took them out of the bag that I brought them in with or out of their back room. I did get some of my Talbots sweaters back miraculously. With the exception of the Talbots sweaters - I did not get any big ticket items back. Overall - I estimate that Chella D’s did not return to me nearly $1,500.00+ worth of clothing in retail pricing. These woman are nice as can be when you enter the store but are grifters and will steal from you before you are out the door. DON”T DO BUSINESS WITH THEM!

The same exact situation has happened to me. I have consigned clothes in optional condition from France and Italy. I have found that there is something that doesnt Click, cant put my finger on it .I went there through a recommendation . Had never consigned clothes before, anywhere.I think that what they reap in is unfair, considering we have invested in the items to begin with .
