My mother comes to Hilton Head every year and this diner is one of her go to breakfast spots. This is a genuine real deal diner with an extensive menu. I ordered the Bagel Supreme Platter and my wife ordered the pancakes. We both enjoyed our meals. The staff were professional and courteous, the portions were ample and the prices were reasonable. Well recommended.
Visiting from Cincinnati...it was okay. ordered grits with cheese to go, came in cup with a slice of American cheese on top🤔.... grits was not what I expected...not soft enough...too crunchy.Update: Cookie may look pleasing to the eyes however Ive had better... would not recommend... unless its your thing!🤷🏾
Great place, tons of options. Breakfast is served all day. There are options for anyone. We got the chili appetizer and it was VERY good, huge portion. I got the crab cake Benedict which was also much larger than an average Benedict, and very good, plus a large side for like 13 bucks. Great prices, cool vibe. It does seem to be run by Yankees (based on the accents) but it seems like they found their niche down here in Hilton head. I HIGHLY recommend.
The owner says they have not had juke box selector modules at each table for 10 years. And, yet, the paint is still a different color. These selector modules were on the opposite wall upon entering the booth. And, now, you can even order a Long Island Ice Tea! Seems out of place, though. The pastries are still found inside the lighted glass showcase. And, they still look inviting. The food is good, but, nothing to brag about....with just a little TLC there could really be a delightful memory to take home. Maybe a Manager who came by and asked how is your food? Or, call the 2nd Section 1st Class Seating where something happens to create a memory. After all, how many diners remain on the planet? Maybe have girls in French Maid costumes after 9:00 pm? And, free deserts in the 1st Class Section. A BuyOneGetOneFree on a return visit! DO SOMETHING to save this place!Keith CareyPsalm 34
Laid back, casual atmosphere. What an Awesome place! The staff was great and the food was on point! The menu is HUGE.... and they serve breakfast all day ❤️
We always stop here for breakfast on our way home from Hilton Head.. we have always had a good experience here, but not this time. They had about 1/3 of their dining room closed, so we had to wait about 15 minutes for a table. Then it took about 10 minutes for our waitress to come to our table once seated. Once we placed our order, it took almost 30 minutes to get our order which was only eggs, pancakes, omelets, etc. Food was as expected, but really shouldnt have taken that long. Im assuming like many other restaurants these days they are short-staffed, but resulted in a frustrating experience.
The food was awesome, and we had great service. All four of us had breakfast, and the meals were massive and tasty. It was nice to find a diner in Hilton Head.
We liked our 1st visit here so much we came back again the next morning. Had our 2nd visit been our first we wouldn’t have came back the next day. 1st day service was great and food was good with the big French toast breakfast as the standout. 2nd visit service was non-existent and had to reach out to others servers for help. Had to get up in search of syrup for French toast while it was sitting there getting cold. We will try it again next time we are in the area.
If you get here in enough time you wont have to wait but like 10 minutes its very busy alot of the locals eat here me and older couple talked during the wait all the food was fantastic American cheese omelet the big breakfast and a spinach and Swiss cheese customer service was on point everyones nice I would recommend thus place to anyone whos hungry on,in or around hilton head island!
Pancakes & sausage were really good, but the omelets other members of our group ordered were slightly overcooked. They, like several other places are currently short-staffed. Good variety on the menu. We were there shortly after 9:00 am & the place was crowded, but we didnt have to wait on a table. By the time we were leaving, the line was out the door
I think it was the manager that greeted us upon arrival. Very friendly and seated us promptly. Sever was nice. We ordered the big pancake breakfast and big French toast breakfast. Food was great and nice diner atmosphere. Would return!
The best diner food around for sure. We stopped while visiting from Beaufort and where pleasantly surprised. Very diverse menu as diner food should be and everything we had was excellent! We’ll definitely be back.
Ive eaten here twice and both time the food was amazing. On this visit, I ordered the fried shrimp and added a piece of oreo cheesecake. The fried shrimp were perfectly cooked, the tartar was was excellent, and the cocktail sauce was perfect. The oreo cheesecake was amazing and not overly sweet like most cheesecake. My coworkers ordered the crab cake sandwich and crab cake benedict. They both loved their meals. If you are in the area, definitely stop by Hilton Head Diner Restaurant.
We were introduced to the AWESOME Diner by my daughter who eats here whenever she visits Hilton Head. I must say, this place ROCKS! Weve eaten here twice in 3 days and will be back in the morning for Breakfast! The menu has everything you could want with a very wide range from Breakfast to Dinner. The service is great, the prices are great, and the food is EXCELLENT! This place is definitely on the top of our list of favorites when visiting Hilton Head...... and should be one of yours too!
Food was average. Plentiful but restaurant was so cold the food got cold very quickly. Cold eggs and pancakes and a “hot” sandwich cold ..not satisfying.
Nice hometown restaurant... locally-ownedService is good... food is great and prices and food selections are very good.... Clean and a friendly atmosphere ...I highly recommend it....
We were there on a Tuesday afternoon between 2:00 and 3:00 in total there were probably 10 people counting Us in the whole restaurant. I hate to complain about poor service because they might have been short-staffed but it took forever to get our food and for her to come back around to bring us our drinks once we finally got our food my hamburger was burnt dry and not tasty maybe it was an off day for these folks I dont know but that day at that time we did not receive good service or good food.
This was my favorite food stop of our whole trip. The food was what youd expect from a diner. Nothing spectacular but delicious at the same time and the servings were hearty! The staff is what made the visit exceptional!! They were short staffed and we came in with a group of 9! The owners are working the kitchen while 2 of their managers work the dining room and let me tell you!! We felt like we had been coming there for years!! Everyone was so friendly and personable! The staffs bubblieness and kindness spilled over to their customers and made for an awesome vibe!!
So the food at this diner is actually really good however their service waitstaff, manager, atmosphere and everything else is totally awful!! We went there on Sunday at 9:15 to eat and they close at 10. The manager turned us away said they were too backed up.So since I like the food I decided to try to go by their place and get takeout and they refused to take my order for takeout saying they’re understaffed so …. I can go sit at a booth order my food then ask them to pack it up …. so can you please tell me what the differences is???I don’t know it’s going on with this restaurant but it seems like they are selecting who they will and will not serve and when they will and will not serve food do you not patron this restaurant!!!
Food was good, service was good, place was clean. I could not stand the manager. He yelled at ALL the workers continually. Clean this, no not like that and on and on. We, my wife and I will NOT return. Plenty of other good places to eat at and not have to listen to him. Bye
When we first arrived, we had to wait for awhile. Later understood. They were short staffed. The food was worth the wait. We visited 3 times at different times and enjoyed.
Neat little diner, plenty of parking, GREAT FOOD! Prices appear on the high end but portions are hefty. My meal was $15, but ended up being two meals which is very reasonable.Milkshakes were delicious!! Many patrons were getting breakfast food which smelled and looked delightful. Would definitely recommend!
Staff was very attentive and courteous. I looked at the website before I came in craving a hot fudge sundae. I ordered the French toast and then because I looked at there website and then ordered the sundae. On their website is says the cost was $5.99 When I got the bill it was 7.99. I spoke to who was suppose to be the manager and he wouldnt budge. Told me all the problems they were dealing with and that he was not going to do anything to fix the issue. And to top it all off my Sunday didnt have a cherry.
We got in just before the brunch rush. The service was good. The food was tasty. But I cant help but think COVID19 has an impact on this Diner. I look forward to visiting again after the pandemic.
Hilton Head Diner accommodated our group of 9 easily. Everyone enjoyed their meal. The menu has tons of variety and something for everyone! Our server (wish I could remember her name...) was very friendly and willing to help, though follow-through time was longer than expected. Overall, would recommend and go back next time we visit Hilton Head!
Quaint little diner with a small town feel to it. The food was pretty standard, nothing out of this world. They do a lot of their own baked goods. We tried a giant cookie and it was pretty good. Our waiter was attentive and friendly.
My family and I have come here many times in the past while on vacation. Its a great diner. We ordered breakfast foods, such as omelettes, grits, pancakes, etc, and they were all very enjoyable. The tables were clean and the staff were very friendly. We will be returning.
Popped in here on July 4 for a quick breakfast and we were in and out in 45 minutes. Great service. Super friendly waitress and the food was good and big portions. The perfect diner experience.
By far better than the food at the Marriott where we stayed. Good atmosphere, good food, friendly staff. A must visit
Service was great, food was delicious and price is reasonable. If youre in Hilton Head, best come get your breakfast, lunch or dinner here
Really great food and the staff was nice. They were starting to get busy when we went in, but Id definitely go back.
This is such a cute diner! Cute atmosphere! I enjoyed our time here. It reminds me of an old time diner. If you are ever on the Hilton Head Island or in the area it is worth your time to stop in. Now for the important part, the food. The food was very good! The food was served in a good time frame, all good temperature and good portions.
The staff is nice and very quick to sit you and respond to you. I noticed a lot of locals. So not a tourist trap. Prices were great. Food was also wonderful. Main thing is the service. If you are sick of flippant servers come here.
The best thing eaten was the lemon in the water. Workers were great tho; great customer service! Low quality food, actually pretty gross. Don’t expect anything fresh or homemade. All bland. Just frozen food and instant mashed potatoes. Go to the fast food place down the street for a better experience.
The hash browns were the bomb.com! The orange juice took a bit and that was because they made it fresh and it was delicious. The sweet potato fries were so crispy and the eggs were cooked very well. The service was very friendly. it was crowded but service was really quick. overall this place is really cute and I think that is really cool that they have a pay phone next to the bathroom I really hope this dinner stays open for a while.😄 - Review Avery, age 10
We come to Hilton Head on vacation often and try different restaurants every time. We had never been here so we decided to give it a try. The pancakes were fantastic, and I love pancakes so I know what a pancake is supposed to be. The bacon was cooked exactly how I wanted. The grits were good and the eggs wee cooked perfect. A very good meal. Karen was a fantastic waitress and checked on us often.
Food was good. Service not so good. I stopped for breakfast. I asked for hot sauce twice never got it. Asked for additional coffee- did not receive any.
Great food great prices great service
Wonderful experience. Amazingly well taken care of by our waitress every time. Great food presentation with outstanding taste. Friendly and cozy environment.
Good food! Good prices.
Filling was not good. Donner salad too small
The HH Diner is a must stop in every visit. GREAT breakfast and many gluten free options. My wifes favorite (California Benedict) always pleases and I just keep changing from one to another. Very friendly staff. Be kind to everyone and he sure to tip and tip well.
This is, by far, the best place for your breakfast and just about any other meal, anytime of the day. Huge portions and fantastic staff. Coming from New York city, diners are near and dear to my heart. This Hilton Head mainstay meets every single requirement. Fantastic food and unbelievable baked goods
Hot open faced turkey was slightly warm, greens were hotter than the turkey. Just discussed after traveling and expecting a good dinner.
Quintessential beachy diner that is on our list every year. Great for casual midweek dinner when you have nothing else planned. Super convenient location, family friendly, great prices, good selection of options even for picky eaters, good service, and really consistently tasty food. Highly recommend the mushroom and swiss burger, onion rings are amazing, and.. prepare for (meaning conserve your calories!) the hot fudge brownie sundae. Its about 1500 calories so expect to share. Its also enormous, so expect some stares when it is delivered to your table. Its warm, gooey and delicious. We consider ourselves experts on brownie sundaes and this is our favorite... of anywhere. Yes, that good. Im sure the other treats are great but we will never know because this behemoth is on our must have list every year!! Also splurge and get the souvenir mug to remember it for next year!
This place is amazing. I personally go for breakfast food every time I have been there. Their biscuits and gravy special is good, but I just favor that a lot. I dont know much about their dessert, but their cookies are not on my list of recommendations.
Landmark diner food. Excellent breakfast menu all day long. Real maple syrup available at extra cost, but nevertheless Available!! A rarity these days. Coffee is decent, almost good! Pastries available as well. Always busy in the morning. But the queue is short lived. Dont miss this iconic HH spot!
Horrible customer service!!! Host was rude and ignored us when we first walked in…the waitress Karen had an attitude…the worst one there…super aggressive . I understand people go through things but it doesn’t get you the right to treat people rude and disrespectful. Great customer service goes a long way.
Oreo Pancakes were top notch. Gyro was phenomenal. Would definitely come back
Great diner food! Awesome and friendly service. Reasonable meal, price wise for a change!
I do not understand how this place has so many stars. From beginning to end, my visit was a disaster. The staff is unfriendly and unwelcoming. They made me feel like it was an inconvenience I was there, at 11am for breaker. The crab cakes in the crab cake benedict were probably 3 days past their expiration date. Their computer wasnt connecting when I tried to pay and they acted like it was my fault, and no apology after it finally connected for saying it declined when clearly it did not. Altogether, avoid this place there are way better breakfast spots on the island.
First trip to Hilton Head and was recommended by some friends to try the Hilton Head Diner for breakfast!I ordered the French toast and it was really good, the toast is probably an inch thick, definitely filling. I also got hashbrowns for a side, and they gave me a big bowl of them, go hungry if you go.Overall it was good and I would go back.
The service was had with a smile and we received a hot meal. I was realistic about my expectations so i wasnt disappointed. We will visit again while in Hilton Head island.
I ordered a steak and cheddar omelette. The cheese wasnt cheddar, the steak was dry, the egg was overcooked, the toast was not buttered, and like the rest of the meal, the home fries had zero seasoning. I would have sent it back but I work for a living just like the cook in his pajamas back there; so, I covered it in Texas Pete and hit the road. Somehow with a cup of coffee this heap cost $18. Im just gonna go to Waffle House next time.
The staff is wonderful and friendly. Even being short staffed and busy meals were still out in a short time and good!
Its a diner in every sense of the word. A great place for comfort food with a friendly staff. The coffee is hot, the menu is varied, and the service is just right.
Mendie from Hilton Head Island Diner made our stay at the Island home away from home. Although our stay at the Palmera Inn and Suites was not that great, our server Mendie made the stay worthwhile. Keep up the good work Mendie⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
Party of six, seated quickly. Wait staff was very friendly. The menu selection is very broad and the food was pretty good. The prices are reasonable and everyone in my group was satisfied.
We had a great working remote experience all week at the Marriott Resort and Spa and came to Hilton Head diner for an amazing breakast- challah bread french toast, grits, bacon, sausage, eggs, tea & coffee! Our host Sherry provided excellent service! I advise all to come here for a great breakfast. The other pics posted doesnt do this place justice for the great experience we had! And we are #pickyeaters!
We came here with my family of 12 and they were very accommodating to seat us. The food was over priced for what it was. I got the adult Mac n cheese and it was literally the same size as the children’s menu mac but in a different shaped dish and low quality cheese.
If you every visit Hilton Head Island please stop in at the diner and have some breakfast. The breakfast is delicious I have the French toast meal and I was great. My server Darlene was wonderful just ask for her she will make your day.. 👍
Ordered chicken noodles soup, noodles were not cook all the way and soup was cold even after requested to have a hot bowl of soup. Food was very bland, no taste, however pancakes were good. Wait time for the food and check was extremely long but our server, Robert, was very polite and pleasant.
Typical Diner. Big menu. Good valueGood food. Reasonable price
As what you expect in a diner. Large menu, southern options. Food overall was nice. Wait was not excessive. Waiter was tireless and did an excellent job given the number of tables she was waiting on.
Great Breakfast and lunch and dinner. Great foods and leave room for the Great desserts in the case! A Hilton Head Island must!
Great food, great service, friendly workers, and all around great environment. Would highly recommend for people looking for a all around great experience.
Went last night and service was very slow but wait staff was great. Went back tonight and sat for 25 min and no one ever came to our table to even greet us. We left with not even a water.
Staff was great, pleasant and prompt. Food was excellent. The only bad thing I have to say is their ceiling needs help.. water damage and a few tiles are sagging.
Got a picky eater this is your place! Their menu offers something for everyone! Breakfast lunch or dinner never disappoints.
Delightful throw back diner with a great menu service was excellent Food was delicious.
Always a pleasure eating here. Great food. Great Staff. Robert was very attentive. Thanks again.
I have always received great service here, regardless of how many whining tourists stop in. Tony and Lou run a tight ship, and always go above and beyond to ensure you get a great meal! Ive been going there since it was built........and have no complaints. If you want to complain..... fugetaboutit!
Very good service, food was made fresh and very good
Great food and many selections 😋 French toast..was fantastic! And thank you for excellent waiter.. Sherrie!
Not like it used to be. We’ve been twice this trip and options just aren’t the best quality like they were even in March. Skimpy portions, not great quality chicken for the chicken and waffles, my philly was good though. Their salads are delicious but not what I was wanting this time around. Hoping the labor shortage ends soon and something can be done to boost the diner back to what it used to be. Oh and expect a wait if you go at peak times.
Great service, everyone was nice. The food wasn’t anything special. The hash browns were dry and the omelets were pretty basic. This was our least favorite breakfast of our trip, but it was the fairest price. Also, we ordered to go, which could have something to do with our experience. The restaurant was very clean and had a great retro diner vibe. I would give it another try.
Very good, very busyAs a manager in the restaurant industry, The diner did an excellent job keeping up with the food service. The staff was very helpful and focused on the costumer care
