Great experience. They were very good at communicating during the process. Recieved a couple calls before shipping to make sure all was correct. Arrived perfectly packaged and frozen solid. Well worth the little extra cost compared to trying to package, keep frozen and ship as checked baggage.

Great customer service! The charter called them before we got to the dock. They were waiting for us already by the time we pulled up. We told them how we wanted the fish split and they made it happen! We picked up our fish the following morning and left to Anchorage. They give you the option to ship the fish home if thats easier for people who are from out of town. I will definitely use them again!!! Absolute top notch!

I had a really positive experience with Homer Fish Processing. It was a little nerve wracking handing all my fish over to them and ultimately having it shipped home, but they did an excellent job. All of the staff that I interacted with were wonderful. Even though they were super busy, they took time to answer all of my questions. They were very helpful and accommodating. It was definitely a little pricey, but the convenience and not having to worry about my fish was worth it all to me. It was nice that the shipping fees were flat rates; the shipping was the same no matter where you needed it shipped. I would definitely use this company again.

Had an amazing fishing trip. The guides fileted the 8 halibut, 62 lbs worth, we just caught right in front of us. So awesome to watch. Removed all the skin. Second day fishing trip, caught 42 lbs of fish, skin left on. When we received our fish back home, 80% of the fish we got had skin on it. Super disappointed we didnt all the fish we caught. Packaging and shipping of the fish was good.

Hurry Up and Rush Pickup at the Homer Fishing Dock. Never Told it Was an Added Homer Fishing Charter Expense. I Was Never Given the Option. Never Asked If I Wanted Styrofoam and Box Packaging. I Had My Own Yeti Cooler. They Forgot to Add Gel Ice Packs that I Paid for. I Had to Pay for a Second Cab Trip from the Airport to Pickup the Gel Ice Packs. Styrofoam and Box Packaging Was Trashed at the Homer Airport.

Avoid! They left our fish outside for over two hours in the 80 degree heat. There were ample flies buzzing our meat. The fish arrived to them filleted but when they took the skin off they wasted a 4 inch chunk on the end of each fillet. They also quoted us two hours to completion, but had barely started the processing when we arrived to pick up our fish. We were the first boat back at the dock that morning, so there was no way they were that far behind already… no apologies, just attitude from the employees. We ended up taking our unprocessed fish home to package ourselves. I think it saved our yield.

I’ve been using this company for 5 years, they have always treated me like family. My fish gets cut the way I like it, vacuum sealed to last until it’s consumed. I fly about 150lbs home each time and never have any spoilage! I fish with D&G Charters.

AVOID AT ALL COSTS!! We paid $120 to have our fish processed from our charter in Homer and they did a terrible job. Didn’t mark fish so we had no idea what was cod and what was Hallibut. We asked them to label and they said “you’ll know when you taste it.” We also paid to have skin taken off and they did a terrible job of that as well. Also fish wasn’t fully frozen after 12 hours. We had to take our fish to another processor in Kenai to finish the job. We tried to complain but got no response and no help.

BEWARE. As soon as we got into the dock, the guys are waiting to pitch their sale to get your fish for storage, and eventually for shipping. They will give you a card to call, without further discussing your shipping options. I tried calling as i was leaving Homer and the staff told to call the next day. Gave them a ring while i was in seward and now they priced my fish $250 to be shipped. Whoa! If i known the cost, i should have brought my fish with me… im heart broken to not be able to have my 2 halibuts. On top of the $350 i paid for the fishing charter. Dont make that mistake.

Highly recommend! HFP processed 400 lbs of filet for our group and we couldnt be happier. The ladies in the front office were helpful and quite informative. We had HFP filet our fish into 1 lb packets and frozen. We then picked up and bought their airline approved boxes and packed them ourselves. We checked in the boxes as our luggage and our fish arrived in Florida frozen rock hard. Mahalo HFP!

They seemed to have an attitude of inconvenience towards us customers. They were not friendly, and they seemed very off put at a simple request to band our box of fish. Our order was not ready when they said it would be, so we had to wait. We went with them originally because they seemed to have a deal worked out with our charter and they were at the dock when we showed up. I would suggest taking your fish elsewhere for processing.

BEWARE OF THIS COMPANY!!!We hired Maverick Charters who recommended Homer fish processing. Because of this recommendation I did not do my due diligence as I should have. But hopefully this review will help others not make the same mistake I did by using this dishonest company. Here is my complaint. We caught 4 nice halibut, 9 salmon and 8 Rock fish. The boat captain filleted all of them on his boat as we watched. Homer fish processing showed up at the dock and picked up our fish. We picked up the fish the next day and paid for 107.5 pounds of fish. I was told that we could only get 46 lbs of fish in a 50 lb box, I told the lady at the desk that was fine that I had a cooler for the 15.5 lbs that would not fit. After I paid I went next door to load fish and it was already boxed up and there was only 1-9 oz package of halibut that was not packed into the boxs. I asked where the rest was and was told that was all!! I went back to the office where I paid and asked where the rest of my fish was and the lady told me that I lost that much to waste??? To make matters even worse when I checked the luggage at the airport the boxs only weighed 45 lbs ea. When I got home I weighed the boxs and they only weighed 3 lbs ea. The bottom line is they stole 20 plus pounds of fish from me. BEWARE!

We used Homer Fish Processing to process our fish after a Halibut fishing trip. We also included a lot of raw and smoked sockeye we had personally processed. They had a mix up with our fish and sent us someone elses catch. This seems to be an ongoing problem for them. Then when they did send our fish it got suspended in the UPS cosmos for days through no fault of their own. However, they went above and beyond to make it right. If they screw up or even if it wasnt their fault this place will make it right for you! I would not hesitate to use this business again.

Bottom line up front: fish processed wrong, office did what they could to make amends. We used HFP on this trip (7/9/20) because their competitor was closed on Thursdays. When I noticed the order slip was marked to cut our salmon fillets in pieces even though we wanted them left whole, I asked the guy picking up the fish to correct it and he said hed fix his white copy. When I noticed several minutes later that the *yellow* copy was what went into the bin with the fish, I asked whether that one needed to be changed. He said no, just the white one, and that hed already changed it.When we picked up our fish, the fillets were cut into pieces - and no copy of the slip had been corrected. When we asked for a refund of the processing cost for the salmon, the lady in the office refunded the charge for all of our fish (about 4x more than we were asking). That makes this a 3-star review instead of the single star I would have given for the blatant lie in response to my simple and timely request.Weve used Coal Point with great results on all our previous trips to Homer and will be using them on all our future trips as well.

We took our halibut and salmon to this processing plant. When we returned home and it was shipped we were short a lot of halibut. Do not trust this company. On top of that it was very expensive and they will not answer the phone. DO NOT USE. Order was under my boyfriends name ticket number was 12606He tried calling couldn’t get through to them. Again BEWARE OF THIS COMPANY .Well I finally got a lady to answer said she would have owner to call. Guess what NO CALL!!!I would give them a minus star if I could. That is not right stealing people’s fish. When you catch 4 halibuts and only get 2 tails. Hum..........

Came and picked up at the docks, kinda implying the price of processing was included with our charter. Turned out that wasnt the case, but I should have done my research. They said they would call but the call never came. I didnt know when the fish would be ready. All different sized pieces in the bags together, really disorganized. It took about 20 minutes to pick up 10 pounds of fish. Would recommend coal point instead.

This company came highly recommended. We drove all the way back to Anchorage to figure out they did not give us all of the salmon we had. Called and Husband spoke with owners and the outcome was: There is a video they are sending to confirm what they did in cutting the fish. He was kind and apologized. However, I still dont see how a video of cutting our fish explains the absence of our fish. Still bummed of this outcome. It was an expense we felt we got shorted on with no peace offering.

Wish I would have read the reviews before using this company. For the amount of fish we caught, we DEFINITELY didnt get all of our fish shipped to us. The cheeks from our halibut werent included. Most of our fish werent vacuum sealed correctly, so theyre already starting to get freezer burn. We went fishing the end of August... such a WASTE of money and will never use them again. I wouldnt recommend them to anyone!! My brother and his wife used them the day after we did and had the same experience.

The whole idea to have the fish picked up from dock and shipped is awesome. However, the execution is a different matter as significant fish was not shipped. I had to speak several times with the owner and got involved the fishing captain from charter to square the missing good lbs of halibut. Furthermore you get charged 3 lbs shipping as they use ice packs which other processors dont do. At the end, the owner shipped the missing lbs which I appreciated ... however, it was an experience which I dont recomend as you go in Alaska to enjoy the experience not dealing with non sense. Based on this experience I learned the other processor in town is not good either.

They should bring the scale down to the docks when collecting fish, along with, discussing weight and how much weight will be lost in processing. We were not happy with our final product weight. Other groups on the same charter have discussed this problem. The filets were packaged so that the final product is in an oblong shape instead of a nice flat pack. The Tip Boot on the fish pick up door is tacky, this is not a restaurant and you are not waiting on me. If the crew feels they need an extra payment for handing me a box of fish to put in the cooler is worthy of a Tip they should discuss with management how much they are getting paid.We will not be using them again.

I will never use this place again and have advised everyone that I know the same. We recently returned from a successful offshore charter out of Homer. When we got our fish back home, packaged and shipped to us, we were short almost all of our halibut. We caught well over 80lbs of Halibut but for whatever reason only received less than 12 lbs of meat from those fish. Be aware this place is not honest!!! There is no telling how many clients they have screwed out of their catch as they take the fish from the dock and haul it to their processing plant for you. We were pleased with the process and the idea but very disappointed with the final results.

HFP has done great work for me for the last 5 years running. This was a disappointing 6th trip.Packing out took an hour and 20minFish thawed in 30 hours of travelMy group brought in just over 454lbs of fillets, great year fishing. But HFP took an hour and 20 min to pack us out Saturday morning 7/27/19. I had advised the guy who picked up the fish daily at the slips how to package it and when we would be there to pick it up. Upon arrival they advised it hadnt been packed out yet, and that they had called the day before to ensure us as well as other groups would be picking up before they packed and that no one answered or returned calls, this call never came to me.To make matter worse we had them pick it in 47lb cooler boxes like normal. All 10 boxes were partially to significantly thawing when we arrived home 30 hours later.

We took a day trip charter that provided us with the services of this fish processor. Upon arrival back at dock, not only were we rushed around to give them our fish and get out, it was so mishandled. The two young guys involved working and picking up our order, simply took it and left. Giving us no information, and leaving us in the dark about or fish. We were told youll get a call, well guess what no call. Contacting them, they told us well you never showed up so we have no information needed to get it out for you.Luckily the fish was processed and frozen, but they want a ridiculous amount of money to ship. Its cheaper to buy the best cooler money can buy and take it home ourselves. The packinging and freezing was good, but do not recommend simply on the employees lack of communication. Traviling you have enough to worry about, dont make it your fish.

We came back from our Halibut fishing tour and the processing company was waiting for our boat but didn’t look very official. They just took our fish from us and told us to come find them when we wanted to tell them our shipping address. We asked to weigh our fish before we gave them to the company but they said they would do it later. When we went into their store a few minutes later to tell them where to send our fish, they were missing half of our fish. When we asked where our missing fish were, they responded aggressively and yelled at us. It took 3 hours before we found our missing fish. Do not use this company. Other people have had this same issue.

This companys employees (two were involved) told me one price when I dropped my fish off for processing and shipping. The day it was to be shipped they called and told me the price was now ....33% h i g h e r ! !They were only interested in going through how this price came to be...even though I went through the SAME process when I dropped it off. They didnt care that I relied on THEIR employees original quote when I place the order.I wont have cared if they were 5-10 % off the original quote...but 33+% ! This fish would have cost me almost $30 a poundI cancelled my order ....they now have my fish. We had a negative experience with HFP this summer (2017) and do not recommend their services. We had three different orders that we brought in to HFP. Two orders were handled correctly. The third order was lost and we were not told about it until 24 hours before we were scheduled to leave Homer (the order had been brought in a week and a half earlier). Our phone calls were not returned and when we stopped in to check on the order we had the distinct feeling that workers were not telling us the truth. We were finally told the truth (our order of the fish we caught) was shipped to someone else. We were told that we would receive fish caught by HFP before we left. We called to verify and again no one returned our call. We left Homer without the fish promised us and we had already paid for some of it. After arriving home we finally heard from the owner but only after the family we were visiting stopped in to help solve the problem. We did receive fish shipped to us. We were under the impression that the remainder of the payment was not due because of the mistake. A few days later we got a call about paying for the rest of the fish. Our frustration lies in how the error was handled and the extreme lack of communication both in the office and with us. When we picked up our first order of fish there was another customer sharing that he had been waiting for 45 minutes for his fish and it also was misplaced. So it happened to two people in less than a week. We do not recommend their services.
