Its good. Very clean. Super friendly. Exactly what you would expect from a little home town diner
Menu was large but mostly catered toward traditional diner breakfasts and sandwiches. No seafood options like most places in town. Very affordable compared to other places in town. The staff was very attentive
Great breakfast this morning! Wonderful staff decent prices. It’s pretty busy on a Sunday morning but worth the wait
Hands down worth the short wait. The food was amazing our service was great they were slammed busy still provided top notch service.Every meal we had was fabulous the chicken fried steak & the cinnamon rolls were my favorite! Will be our 1st stop next trip to homer 💛
The only restaurant in town thats open early enough to have a decent breakfast before heading out for your daily adventures in the area. Good portions, good flavor, excellent staff.
Like everyone right now, they were short on staff. They did an amazing job of keeping things moving while still serving customers well. Food was very good.
Great place for the family. Breakfast was exceptionally good and service was friendly and studious. My father enjoyed looking at the old wood burning ovens and memorabilia on the walls. On a side note, Thank You to whomever purchased our meal for us that was awfully kind of you.
Best place in Homer to get breakfast. Been stopping by for years now and have never had a bad experience. The staff is wonderful and food is always got and fresh.
Fresh ingredients and made to order! This place may have a little bit of a wait, but it is totally worth it once the food gets to the table. 👌 They served up some of the best breakfast Ive had for a while. Im hungry just thinking about it. Thanks Duncan House!
Cute spot, good (free) parking. Quick to be seated, comfortable and cute restaurant. Huge portions, tasty made to order breakfast, and wonderful staff. 5 ⭐ !
Came in after our horrible experience at the chart room restaurant. The staff were extremely accommodating! Quick service, friendly, and the food was excellent!! Inexpensive, as well!! Id give 10 stars if it were an option.... definitely going to be a return customer!
Food was good. Service was a bit slow and the coffee wasnt kept full. Not a huge deal, but when you are eating breakfast and order coffee, you like it kept full. Other than that, it was good and would most likely go again.
Super busy, so there was a bit of a wait but well worth it! Friendly service and a great breakfast, seriously the most fluffy omelet Ive ever had. We sat at the counter, neat little diner and experience, I recomend this place!
Great service and food! Stopped in here for an early morning breakfast before a hike to Glacier Lake, would definitely eat here again if in the area. Many different menu items to appease all palates.
Great place to eat while in Homer!Great service, food was really good and fast. One of the best meals so far in AK.
Having been here before but during the pandemic I was sure their wouldn’t be as long a wait as last time….a line out the door but we waited for 20 min. Unfortunately no one came to take our order for atleast another 20. Finally having to track down a random server we were told orders were taken in the order we came in. That’s fine but why was it taking 20 minutes to do so? They finally took the table across from us but neglected us. We commiserated with the other table. Finally they took our order and we waited another 20 minutes for our food. We also had a hungry anxious toddler. There were some apologies but they didn’t do anything to make it right. This was a two hour dining experience while traveling that we were not counting on. My advice is to find so where else to eat if you have somewhere to be.
My mom had the eggs Benedict and agrees...the best Hollandaise sauce she has ever had. My Denver omelet was fluffy and flavorful. Glad we found this place for breakfast!
Food was excellent!! Large portions just like Mom did as a kid. Even tho they were busy the staff did a great job
It was busy when we went in. I had the berry French toast that had cream cheese put on it. There was way to much of it and I didnt like it. Husband had a ham omelet that was good. Had to wait a little bit to get someone to take our money so we could go.
They never answer their phones, to go orders must be a thing of the past??? With Covid ramping up you would think they would still offer curbside. Good food though. Holy cow they answer reviews quick, unfriended me for criticism. 😕 Would have preferred ordering from Duncan House rather than McDonalds.
The atmosphere is okay. Ive came on 2 separate occasions now and probably wont be back. The food is mediocre for the price. We ate a burger, mushroom Swiss burger, BLT, fries and onion rings. Onion rings were good. There isnt much special about it. Both times the servers were not attentive at all. They act like they dont want to be there and not very friendly. First time we werent offered a cup or anything and had to ask for silverware. They kept gathering up at the register chit chatting both times. For the price and quality of service and food Ill go elsewhere.
Great breakfast place. Crowded, but that usually means the food is good, right? Order the Buds #2 burrito!
Great service, great food. My personal favorite is The Alaska Burger. Made fresh right when you order it. Onion rings on point with fresh batter everytime. A must stop if your ever in Homer Alaska
A go to place every time we are in Homer. Service is great! The food never disappoints!
Fish so fresh that it jumped out of the ocean and into your plate! And the chef knows just how to cook it perfectly! I will be back!!!
They made great use of the covid down time to remodel the booths, outside and a new waiting area (which youll need because theres always a line to get in). Yes the food is that good!
Takeout was wonderfully prepared. Online ordering worked wonderfully. Food was excellent. Will eat here again, if not monthly
Best breakfast burrito ever, always consistently delicious and you can also get it spicy with jalapeños, nice kick!! I love eating inside as well. Great enviornment
The hollandaise sauce in my eggs Benedict was likely the best Ive ever had. My husband loved the breakfast burrito too!
Great place and wasn’t busy! Great staff. Love their mugs!
Great home town feel and breakfast made to order. No masks needed. Very nice workers there and great prices for the large meal.
Great food. Wish this place was located back home. Would eat here all the time.
This is a great spot for breakfast! The food is awesome, I recommend the chicken fried steak and eggs.
They had great food. Their biscuit and gravy breakfast fills you up for the price I recommend anyone in new to the area to try them
Delicious meal! Only 4 stars because they werent open the next day
Amazing. Everything youd want from a diner...great food, great atmosphere, with the kitchy decor, friendly staff, and fair prices.
Its clos0ed to dine in right now. So we didnt get to eat there
My family favorite place to go every time in Homer
Nice people! Great service and awesome breakfast!
Fast friendly service coffee flows here like a dinner should food and ingredients are top notch will be back again. Yum
The food is always delicious & the staff is very friendly. Today must have been an off day, no salt & pepper on the table, no jelly served with our toast. I had a cheese omelet with potatoes & toast.
Great food although its small and there was a waiting time we were served right away
Comfort food, good prices, and rustic atmosphere.
Great food and exceptional service!
Super busy. But friendly and fair priced.
Waitresses could learn a little finesse! Especially one!
Great food. High protein meal was really good. Cinnamon roll was amazing. Service was not good. Wait to get seated was not bad. Once order was taken and delivered, no one came to check on us. I had to go up and ask for a coffee refill. When I did, they were borderline rude about it. And served my refill in a chipped cup with pieces falling off.
Excellent breakfast at a good value. Large selection of dishes.
Hospitable is great great food.
Staff were wonderful and polite in the food tasted amazing💜
Not what it once was. Wont be revisiting. We have visited your establishment every year since arriving in Alazka in 2009. Im afraid to say the quality of the food was not what it once was and we left wishing we had not stopped there. It was not an issue with the facility or the staff just the meal itsekf.
Great atmosphere and amazing food! Very friendly staff!
Great food, wonderful service and reasonably priced.
We (my boyfriend and his two kids and I) were put on the wait list for 30minutes and sat outside the restaurant for over an hour and after groups of people were seated they finally told us that they had tried calling our phone 3 times, but our phone didnt show any calls from them. They were extremely rude about it and never said anything as they called other groups and saw us waiting so we left to go somewhere else since the kids were super hungry at this point and we didnt want to wait another 20 minutes. The next time we called and were put on the wait list and showed up the same employee told me that they tried calling 3 times as well. There were 5 empty booths and no one waiting to be seated and she told me that she would see if we could be seated. After waiting for almost ten minutes we were finally seated and there were still empty booths the duration of our meal and when we left.
I really appreciate all that they did to make us feel comfortable in the time of Covid. The breakfasts were great also! My husband and I both enjoyed our meal.. Which was take out by the way... Per our request although they do have in house dining.
The food was great but the service was terrible. First, they forgot to put our order in and the table beside us got their food first. Then, they forgot one of our orders. Not great.
Great breakfast better service.
Delicious breakfasts and great service
Great breakfast spot!
Favorite little diner! Unlimited coffee, I can read for a while and enjoy my food. Eggs Benedict is great, cute family that owns it all. It’s no wonder there’s a wait time in the mornings.
Really great diner food!!
Just not good. The food was less than mediocre served on paper plates with plastic utensils. I know dealing with Covid is a challenge, but we ate out for two weeks while visiting family in AK and this was our only experience like this. The sausage gravy tasted like it came from a can... certainly not homemade from scratch.
Great breakfast! Large portions and delicious!!
A great local diner!
Great restaurant with awesome character, and an original Alaska feel. Cant go wrong with their breakfast, good stuff🙌
Great food and I was especially impressed at their cleaning after a table left. I highly recommend calling ahead for a reservation because they are keeping us safe by not using all their tables.
I was very excited upon entrance the restuarant. Looked clean, there were two people inside eating and it had a relaxed feeling. The waitress was cordial, not welcoming and had me wait for the cashier or host to order food to go. After she got off the phone finally I was able to order. It would be nice to have your order taken and not have to sit and wait. Our order was 2 Denvers omelette and I added spinach to mine. Wow....due to covid19 pandemic we will be offering no butter on our toast, only 8 pieces of ham, 5 leafs of spinach and 12 pieces of onions and barely visible cheese. Oh sorry I forgot we ordered 2 sides of bacon, dry hard and nearly no taste I had been sitting dry for so long. No flavor cant save you money but can irritate customers who paid 40+ dollars on a 20 dollar meal.I have been in the F&B industry for a LONG TIME. So you cutting corners to save money isnt fooling people who drive over 5 hours to get here on our Anniversary.......- 1 ⭐ if it were possible.
Growing up in California and then moving to Alaska I have ate at many many places. With that said this little Gem is a MUST. By far the best service where you are treated like you are family. The food is hands down the best I have ever had. I love this little spot and can’t wait to return to Homer and visit them again. Thank you Duncan Diner for such great hospitality. You guys Rock!!!!
A great place to eat but its the only restaurant open for breakfast. here in Homer Alaska .No one wants to work! The people here are very professional .
This is a really good place for breakfast eat there ever time. Thank u
Great food, friendly staff
Good food & service
Great spot for breakfast!!!
Fast, friendly, fantastic! Even brought my breakfast to my car because they had a call on the other line. Masks, social distance observed of course. I will be back!!!
Best breakfast in Homer!
What a great local place to get a quick breakfast.Friendly service. The decor is eclectic somewhat reminiscent of a Cracker Barrel restaurant but more quaint and cozy. Each table has unique salt and pepper shakers. Once we had cows, another time dogs.Theres even a hitching post outside with a saddle on it it youre looking for a photo op.Food was spot on, reasonable prices. Efficient.Highly recommend.
Great food and service!
Good food and great planning for the current Covid19 Pandemic. Good service with a masked friendly smile
Relaxing atmosphere!
Diners are diners, and Duncans delivers that pleasant atmosphere. Booth seating, bottomless coffees, and eggs cooked your way. Lovely staff, solid breakfast.
Working hard to keeping diners safe. Food is great.
Wonderful place to stop in and grab breakfast. Coffee was tasty and the French toast has got to be the best I have ever had! Anytime in Homer, stop here for great food and friendly service.
Upfront, I did NOT eat at this place and never will. I just left due to the most rude interaction with the staff. Walked in with my sister and our children (3). There was a group of ppl in front of us that the staff was attending to... putting their names on the list. When it came to us, she promptly turns her back and makes herself busy, as did her counterpart. After about 5 minutes of standing there, them attempting to NOT make eye contact and me asking how do I get on the waiting-list, a man comes up behind me and rudely interjected that they are busy and will get me on the list when they can. During my addition 5 minute wait at that point another male staff member was less than friendly to our children who were playing in front of us. Conveniently another group walks in and we are asked if we are on the list, once she gets my name on this list, she quickly attends to the other group that came in 10 minutes after us. WOW you mean they didn’t wait to get on the waiting list?!We left, I politely ask for the owners names, Barb and Brad I believe he said. So if the owners are reading this, I don’t know if your staff isn’t kid friendly or we didn’t fit the normal mold of Homer’s usual crowd, but you should retrain your staff on common courtesies. Our money is just as green🙁
This is one of the best restaurants you will find in Homer, Alaska. The food is delicious, homestyle fare and the service is exceptional. To me, this is more akin to a fine restaurant than a diner. There are fine works of art by Alaskan artists decorating the wood-paneled walls and many vintage and antique items which are very interesting to look at and bring back memories of calmer times. The seating is very comfortable, with booths which offer some privacy, tables, and some counter seating on stools for more casual dining.
Good hefty breakfasts with good service and good coffee. Also serves lunch, I think only until 2 or 3 pm then closes. Not particularly creative menu, but again a nice variety of breakfast classics if you like standard American fare.
Good food but check your to go order before you leave the building to make sure they got everything
Good people, good service
