Had the shrimp po boy and gumbo. Both were excellent. They have a case near the cash register with take-out meals to prepare at home. I took the chicken and black bean enchiladas home for dinner and my friend loved it. I was a hero, at least for a couple of hours. Im going back, probably this week, to sample other delectable items from that cooler to be prepared at home.

Homewood Gourmet is one of my go-tos for a workday lunch or catering. Everything from sandwiches to salads to soups tastes great and is as fresh as they promise — you wont find any skimping on ingredients, quantity or flavor.The staff is always attentive and kind, and the food is perfectly packaged for curbside service. (Even before the pandemic, Id get it to go and eat it at Homewood Park.)Seating inside is limited, especially during the pandemic, so be ready to take your order to-go if necessary. And parking is nearly always a challenge — you may have to circle the parking lot twice, but its worth it!

We ordered our Valentine’s dinner of beef filet with sauce, asparagus and fingerling potatoes. Of course, the baby blue salad came with, as well as, a delicious brownie. Well pleased!

I stopped by for lunch and was blown away by this place. The food was delicious and the service was excellent. Highly recommend.

Homewood Gourmet has great casseroles and a has pretty good choices too. My only wish is that they would add some new choices of casseroles. The young lady that works behind the cash register is great! Always smiling and keeps the check out area clean

We found this place after a Google search for places to eat on our way home to Missouri. Though it says dine in is available, it’s a store-front restaurant with very sparse seating that seems to be crammed into a storage space. There are two outdoor tables, each with two chairs, so doesn’t work for our family of five. Food was okay but the turkey and cranberry wrap I had was sparse and not the gourmet wrap I was expecting. It’s hard to tell about places from Google recommendations. If you’re hoping for a nice, southern sit-down meal experience, this is not it.

We hosted a corporate event (amidst COVID-19) and Homewood Gourmet was rated the best meal of our summit. Chris and his team did a fantastic job with catering our event - the food was fantastic and the Baby Blue salad was especially tasty. Very prompt and friendly service. Would definitely recommend them for any special event - I am looking forward to visiting the restaurant in person too!

I chose different varieties of home cooked doughnuts. The pastrami looked and smelled delicious. All foods were appealing. Good place to go.

I will say that the staff is incredibly friendly. I like that the salad I order was fresh and bright. I didnt like that there wasnt a menu that listed the ingredients in each dish. I like knowing what Im ordering, and its easier to glance through a list than to turn back and forth to ask many questions; luckily, there wasnt a line when I was there.Although the salad looked beautiful and fresh, I felt like I ate a plate of sugar when I was finished. I shouldve gotten the dressing on the side or omitted it. When I think gourmet, I think of flavors, not simply sugar-high.

Chris and Laura have one of the most underrated restaurants in Birmingham. The best gumbo and shrimp poboy in town. Hands down. Also, the tuna melt is totally legit.

Oh my, I got the grilled meatloaf sandwich amazing, and the whiskey bread pudding. How many ways can you say this was great. The meatloaf sandwich was just amazing I wished I would have eaten the bread pudding first, thats how good the meatloaf was. I will be back here every time Im in Alabama

It was an overall good experience. I had a really nice informal chat with the owner, and he was real receptive to my thoughts and ideas. The shrimp po boy was delicious, and my friends enjoyed their salads and such. I do think that this place has a lot of upside potential that is untapped, and with some expansion of the menu, and a little more attention to detail its a food presentation, it could really take off.

Amazing little place! The food is out of this world. You could tell they take their time making an experience for the customer. A Po Boy, potato salad, and bread pudding with whiskey sauce--I mean just outstanding!So recommend this to anyone. Nice little place. Not bad prices but anything good is worth the time and heart that is needed to create a nice product.

We ate lunch and dinner from Homewood Gourmet over the course of eight days while in town for a film shoot. I absolutely could not be happier with the level of quality, the quantities, and the pricing. I dare you to find higher quality food at a better price - because you wont. And the meatloaf sandwiches are pretty much phenomenal.

We had the roast beef roll up with gumbo, and the chicken pesto sandwich with cream of potato soup.While the food tasted good, we were disappointed with the presentation of both dishes. The roast beef roll up was served with a single slice of roast beef, and the chicken sandwich was only chicken and bread. Combined with the unattractive cramped atmosphere with supplies laying everywhere, we will not be going back.

What a great place to grab a sandwich and side! Prices are reasonable, service is great, and atmosphere is nice. We also bought a King Cake for the office and it was AHHMAZING!

Best shrimp po boy in B’ham. Hands down. The baby blue salad and gumbo are delicious as well. 5 stars. We will be back!

So. I ordered the turkey and cranberry wrap, and it was delicious - a little small, but delicious. The best part, however, was the the side of bowtie pasta salad. Perfectly al dente pasta tossed with a delicious basil pesto, pecorino cheese, and sliced cherry tomato. Seriously, Homewood Gourmet hit it out the ballpark with that pasta salad - I would make a trip just for the pasta salad. I give Homewood Gourmet 5 well earned stars and two enthusiastic thumbs up!
