They did such an amazing job at my wedding cake needs that I went back and had my sons bday party cake done there. Love them so much!! It looked amazing and tasted even better than it looked!! I will forever be a customer. Had to grab my macaroons on the way out too🥰🥰

I used Dreamcakes for my son’s first birthday cake. Many of the guests asked where it was from and said it was the best cake they had EVER had!! We had the chocolate cake with the vanilla bean buttercream. So good! The staff were very kind and helpful. They even walked the cakes out to my husband’s car!

This is the place for the best cakes! Their gluten free chocolate cake is stellar and I dont do gluten free so that says a lot. These cakes and cupcakes are beautiful and definitely worth the calories!!

My husband and daughter ordered me a cake for my birthday. They wanted it to be special. It wasnt. One of the worst cakes ever bought. For the price, it was not worth it - not even half. Cake was dry, the icing was not good at all. So disappointing. Cakes from Publix are much better. My cake wasnt dreamy but a nightmare.

They helped me out when I was in a pickle and needed a cake fast. They have excellent customer service and took the time to tell me about all available options. All the other places needed a 2 week notice for a cake, but they took the order the day before and had it ready even earlier than I needed it which helped me out!! Thank you so much!!

I placed an order for some cake cups 2 days in advance and had to call back 2 hours later to change the date to 3 days further out. I asked the person if I needed to call the other store to confirm this and she assured me that they would handle it. I then received a rude called the original pick up date asking if I was going to come pick up my cupcakes. I explained what happened and the person belittled me and said I’m going to read the order we have. After explaining that I understood that, I explained it wasn’t my fault they didn’t update the order like they said they would. The person then said the owner would personally make them on Sunday for me to pick up. I then show up on Sunday and they claim to they have no order under my name. The person I spoke to apparently was the one I was talking to because as I explained my situation she said this sounds familiar and told her coworker she spoke to me. They went to the back and then a few minutes later the person that didn’t fail to update this a second time told me sorry and asked if I wanted other cupcakes. I declined the offer and asked for a refund. She told me they would refund it on Monday or I might be able to get cupcakes then. Come Monday, I received no call and decided to call myself but it turns out they are closed on Mondays and that was never going to happen. Today I received a text message showing my refund but no apology or any empathy for all of the mistakes they made. Now this was just for a 40th bday party but I sure wouldn’t trust them to help with my big day if they operate like this. It’s just sad because they do have a good product but clearly are unreliable.

Extremely disappointed. I feel like I got scammed :( I asked for a dozen vegan cupcakes with chocolate frosting. I PAID $50 FOR THESE. They literally looked like a child made them. Itd be different if a relative made these and poured love into them but this is just unprofessional for $50. I had to wipe the frosting off and re do them myself. I could have made these at home and they would have looked 1000x better. Im so sad because I was excited to have vegan options here and wanted to support a local business... They tasted good but, next time I will go somewhere the quality is better and the prices are cheaper. I was considering ordering my wedding cake here but absolutely not anymore. :( I rarely give bad reviews but this was just not worth $50.

After a wonderful tasting with my then fiancé, and a great chat with Kayla, I felt like Dreamcakes would be an amazing option to go with, for the decoration and taste of the cake. I wasn’t wrong about the taste! The cakes, icing and vegan cupcakes are delicious! I however was a bit frustrated to see my wedding cake on the day of our wedding. I asked for a very simple white lined 3 tiered cake. And I did get a white 3 tiered cake, but the top tier was the only one that was partially lined. The other two, looked like a can of biscuits that was about to bust, the icing was spackled on, not lined. I know it’s a silly thing to be frustrated over, and I didn’t feel like I was asking for any intricate decorations on the cake. I loved the customer service they gave to us at the tasting and any phone calls I made, but I wasn’t happy about the design of my cake on the day of the wedding.

Dreamcakes are an okay bakery. I mean just ok. The cakes are not better than Edgars, Definitely not better than KandJ in Alabaster, or Publix. I get cake and cupcakes for the office monthlyThe workers at Dreamcake personality overall are disingenuous and not welcoming at all. Then the cakes are more expensive and smaller than everyone else cake. I think their cakes are maybe 4- 6inch cake. Where the standard round cake is 8-9 inches. I wouldnt care about the the size but they are almost $10 more than like an Edgars. I definitely wouldnt recommend this place unless this is your only option.

Cakes are my favorite. Drove about 10 miles out of my way in the rain with my 2 year old because I had promised her cupcakes the day before. (Shouldve checked the weather first☔🤦‍♀️) Got there as they were closing up for the day. The girl at the counter barely looked up as I stood at the door trying to check out the business hours after I noticed the door was locked. Customer service means a lot to me. I have been here several times, and my husband always drops cupcakes off to me. I wish I could add photos, but by the time he gets them to me, they are not as beautiful as when purchased. I went by today to satisfy my sweet tooth but was not at all satisfied. I ordered one red velvet cupcake which turned out to be dry and TOO sweet. Now- we all know red velvet is sweet but not as sweet as a strawberry cupcake in which this reminded me of. In addition to that, the cupcake had multi colored glass theme sprinkles which didnt go with the taste of the cupcake- and added MORE sweetness. Not satisfied with this choice, I may go back and try another flavor. I wont be in a hurry though.

My experience with dream cakes was so easy and wonderful. I’m gluten free and they made the most delicious and moist wedding cake. My husband got a Game of Thrones groom’s cake which was so unique with great detail. The staff was very sweet and easy to work with. We were overwhelmed with compliments about how tasty and beautiful our cakes were at the wedding.

Excellent customer service and even better tasting cupcakes. They went out of their way to make me some custom cupcakes in just a few hours for my fiances birthday. Will definitely be a return customer.

Cake is amazing… Spent $200 on a two layer cake and they give you some ghetto supposedly box. You would think you would get a professional nice looking box just in case you take it to a restaurant like Perry’s, however looks like you’re going to the ghetto with the cake. I wish I could add a picture on here....The box has duct tape on all four corners. 2 hours later....the cake is in pieces. We did not find a box for this cake... it got rained on. I’m going to Facebook this. I am LIVID. Mind you this is all before we even made it to the restaurant. This is INSANE

So I went there today, they had a sign posted buy 1 cupcake get 1 free. Though thats clearly not the case. False advertisement,the sign should read 1 free cupcake with purchase. Because that is what you all honored today..

Dreamcakes and Jan were wonderful to work with for our wedding cake. The entire process was super easy to plan, the cake tasting was great, and the final product that they delivered was exactly what we wanted. Definitely recommend them as a possibility for your wedding cake.

It is so hard to give my favorite cupcake place only 1 star. We love Dreamcakes. The cupcakes and oatmeal cream pies are to die for and we always enjoy stopping by, but Dreamcakes was a huge disappointment on our wedding day. We showed them a photo of the exact cake we wanted, which they had made for a previous bride. We did want a smaller cake (just like the photo) because we were doing a dessert table, but the tiny (and leaning) little cake they showed up with looked pathetic (and it was $85). They kept referring to the invoice that had the measurements of the cake being fairly small, smaller than I thought, but since right underneath that they wrote SEE PHOTO I trusted that they would get it right. They also make the over the moon cupcakes white for weddings which wasnt what we wanted and not something we were told. When I expressed both concerns at the wedding, I was very rudely told that this was the cake we ordered and we didnt tell anyone we wanted the cupcakes to be blue (the only way they ever were in the store). Ive never heard of a vendor being rude to the bride on her wedding day, but Dreamcakes absolutely was. If you want a nice little treat, this is your place. Just dont trust them with a big event, especially your wedding day.

I went to a wedding this past Sunday, and Dreamcakes made the cake. Holy moly, it was AMAZING!! The frosting was so rich, it almost tasted like ice cream. The cake was beautifully decorated too. I recommend Dreamcakes for your special events!!

Their icing is great but they use box mix to make their cakes, while acting like its made from scratch and pricing it like its made from scratch. I wouldnt care that its a box mix if they priced their stuff a little better because it doesnt taste bad or anything. But I can make an entire batch of cupcakes at home for the same price as two of their cupcakes and theyd basically taste the same.

They have the very best cupcakes. There were so many choices that I had to get all the mini cupcakes to try each flavor! This is a place that you definitely will love if you have a sweet tooth. It is heaven.

As a Baker myself Im very critical when it comes to cakes, and Dreamcakes is Awesome! Today was the first time Ive ever had anything from them and so far everything Ive eaten has been incredible. Im not sure I know how to express how much I love this place. Ever present is an issue with tastes so decadent, you should not have them everyday. I do not have that problem, per se, but the taste of every item on display should probably warn of the hazards of addiction. The staff is great and the location is as good as you can get. Final warning: dont come here with an empty stomach, but make sure to save room when you eat at a surrounding restaurant.

TERRIBLE customer service. I ordered a birthday cake and asked to get a call when it was ready. Never got my call. The next day I went to get the cake and they talked to me as if I were crazy! At the end I had to pay full price for a cake that was late on THEIR behalf because they never called.The cake was still fresh of course because it had only been one extra day but it wasnt even that good. I ordered my daughters 21st birthday cake from Dreamcakes and it was remarkable!!!! I had sent them a picture of what I wanted it to look like and they nailed it. It was just what I wanted and was so delicious! This was the second year I used Dreamcakes and Ill be calling them again next year.

Two words... THE BEST! Dreamcakes, indeed, has the dreamiest cakes and cupcakes known to mankind. The caramel sea salt mocha cake is divine! For family and friends birthdays or even work events, I recommend getting an assortment of cupcakes. I did this for my husbands birthday, and so, my family all ended up sharing little bites of each cupcake. So good!!

Today was not my first visit in Dreamcakes but the first time I was really more than disappointed. I was looking for the small cupcakes to take to 2 important clients for an afternoon pick me up. When I entered the store I was immediately greeted but couldnt tell by whom....I mean I only had one foot in the door. It was about 1 and I thought surely they would still have plenty. Well, there were only 10 in the case but many pkgs of 5 per. I had left my glasses in the car and asked the girl what flavors the packages were. She huffed at me and came around the counter and rattled out the flavors. So I asked her if I picked some of the packages and those in the case could she put them in a box for me. The answer was a quick NO. So I bought $40 worth of cake...and was given a plastic grocery bag in order to take to my clients. Then I noticed that there were paper bags with handles behind the counter and asked for 2 of those. I guess if I had explained my purpose maybe she would have offered to box the cakes. But, it seemed like just too much trouble for her. Anyone can make a cupcake, but good service cannot be bought. Will be looking for other goodies for my clients. P.S. The punch card doesnt work on the smaller cakes no matter what you spend. That was the last dagger. I could purchase one reg cupcake and get a punch and 60 of the small ones and again NO!

The normally excellent Dreamcakes let us down for Thanksgiving. Our chocolate turkey pound cake was as dry as a rock. I called and told them (I would want the same) because I know they want to maintain the quality name recognition that they have always enjoyed. And they thanked me for letting them know and said they hoped that they would please us in the future. (Note - no mention of comping my expense or a freebie in the future to make up for our disappointment.) However, Ill just stick with the Dreamcakes cupcakes in the future, and go back to my previously used name brand bakery for specialty cakes.

Dreamcakes is without a doubt the best place to get a cupcake or much less a cake in town. I have ordered over 10 cakes from them and have never been disappointed, with some having some very extreme detail drawn on them. Its hard to believe that people would give them a bad review being that owners seem very hands on and care about the customers being satisfied! They offer an array of assortments and will attempt to make your cake as personalized as possible. You will gain about 100 pounds just walking in the place because you will want to eat everything in sight! Its so yummy!By far they are the best!

I have been here 3 times the 1st time I ordered vegan cup cakes which they stated were in the back and it was my birthday so my family and I sat inside to enjoy our cupcakes until we bit into a frozen cupcake which no one made me aware of.Each time was not welcoming or quite friendly. I ordered my anniversary cake from here which was delicious and I had to walk quite a ways to carry it while on a crutch so I asked for a bag and she went to reach for the plastic bag and I then asked for the paper bag because I knew it could fit and wouldn’t fall over but she insisted that it would fall over and she just wouldn’t give me a bag for this 6in $30 cake I just bought, so once I realized she just didnt want to give be a paper bag I just said I will make it work but jeeze SMH My family and I will not be returning. You guys need a personality/ customer service makeover!!!

The box for transporting mini-cupcakes was adorable hot pink, and had built in holders, but was not at all reliable. I tried to be very careful with my 2 boxes of mini-cupcakes but they are so top-heavy, over half of them tipped over on my short trip home, and I had to fix the icing on them. I ordered the maple bacon mini-cupcakes for a brunch (such a cute idea for a cupcake!!) and the cupcakes themselves tasted fine, as did the icing, but the bacon slices in them tasted like cardboard. They LOOKED great, but had zero bacon flavor. Additionally, I think it is tacky to request a tip which is how I perceive the Choose an option choice given at the cash register, whereby the only thing you are choosing is your tip amount, or no gratuity. Making the customer do this is not good customer service, although I am sure it works for you as some probably tip just to avoid embarrassment. I am normally a very generous tipper, but in this case, there was no service offered me, as I ordered them online myself, and I showed up to pick them up and pay for them. The mini-cupcakes themselves were approximately $1.50 each, so I think that is plenty of padding, without requesting a tip on top of that. For my money, Publix makes a much tastier petit four, which I will go back to, for brunch and shower treats. All of your cupcakes are adorable, very well named and decorated, but only 2 stars, because they are not a good value, taste- wise are nothing extraordinary, and I didnt like the tip request.

Never had a bad thing from this place and we are there pretty frequently. We try and try something new every once and a while, but my favorite is the peanut butter cup. So good. Ive never had a dry cupcake there... that is unless Ive purchased too many and let them sit out for a day or so, then they get dry, but if you buy and eat or buy and put in the fridge as directed....mmm, good. Truly a gem. Glad to have them among our wonderful shops in Homewood!

Ordered cake a month in advance, cake was beautiful, cake came in box shown in pic, wooden sticks with duck tape holding thin box together. Day of pickup it was raining, cake got wet do to thin plastic, wrapped over cake. Arrived at restaurant embarrassed walking though to be seated with a duck taped box. By the time cake made it to the table it had fell apart. Spoke with Mr. Moon, owner he came up with every excuse in the world, he stated cake boxes are expensive, then stated they ran out but next time he will find a way to include cake box in price. Mr. Moon snuck on my Facebook, he stated the cake looked fine at the restaurant sitting on the table but the spy on my Facebook page didn’t know I took the picture from home the minute I picked up the cake. No way a owner should go back and forth with a customer, claim your fault and keep it moving, at the end Mr. Moon offered a 50.00 gift card, no thanks use it towards cake boxes and professional skills. I was roaming around town looking for something to satisfy this sweet tooth that I cant seem to satiate nowadays and thats when it hit me. I hadnt written a review for Dreamcakes Bakery yet! How had I not written a review for Dreamcakes yet?! So I made a quick turnaround and headed towards the bakery.Dreamcakes is nestled a sort of historical district of Homewood, surrounded by small shops of all different times and a residential district. If you take the time to explore the area you could catch yourself spending an entire day exploring all that this area has to offer. Dreamcakes is stationed right in the middle of all this lovely, local splendor. The shop is on the small side but it boasts a large cooler filled with all types of tasty treats from cupcakes to whoopee pies. Ive been several times and the bakers are always lovely. I usually know exactly what they have in their case but I like to take my time to look at all the goodies and see which one tempts me the most. Today (Wednesday) I happened to come in during a BOGO special they were having on cupcakes. Lucky me right? After much contemplation, I settled on a strawberry, coconut, wedding cake and an over the moon cupcake. I was hesitant to purchase the Over the Moon cupcake because of the white chocolate curls on top but the baker was nice enough to scrape them all off for me. I HATE chocolate so this was such a big deal for me. I paid for my fare and exited the bakery triumphant! So pride of myself and my loot! When I finally arrived home where I could really enjoy my cupcakes, I ripped the box open and proceed to feast. I began with the wedding cake cupcake followed with half of the strawberry. I LOVEEE wedding cake flavored things because they always have a slight taste of almond with a super moist cake and this one was no different. So good, so moist and not too sweet. I also liked the strawberry. My only critique would be to use some real strawberries in the mix or frosting. The local strawberries are in season and absolutely lovely so why not use them?This place is definitely a need to try in Birmingham. Its hands down the best cupcake bakery Ive found to date and the prices are some of the best youll find in Birmingham.

Awesome cupcake shop! My fave is the Over the Moon! They had a speciality for a short time in my favorite soda Grapico! Overall the best cupcakes. I try a new one everytime I go :)

$4 for a boxed cupcake.... I can deal without that in my life.
