I spoke with the gentlemen and both of them were quite knowledgeable and friendly. Their shop looked like a good repair shop should look and that was reassuring enough.The only downside was their backlog of work and the 3-4 weeks estimation for getting my work completed; then again, if its done correctly the first time, thats still not too much of a wait. Id rather have it done right than done a second or third time!

A truly unique, and amazing guitar store. They stock a small quantity of mostly high end gear, with a few exceptions, and they do the best tech work In town. So If u ever need any kind of gotta repair or a setup, fret job, relic etc..... this is the #1 place.

Mr. Tedrow is knowledgeable, frank, and willing to help. Had 2 guitars setup previously, they played like melted butter and the turnaround time was quick. Definitely keep the tech!

The best music store in town - bar none. It is always such a pleasure to go in and talk to Bob and company. These guys are pros make no mistake about it. If you want something done properly or just an honest opinion this is where you need to go. They are the BEST at setting up your instrument! Also every instrument they sell has been professionally setup to play the best it can. NO other store does this or has the attention to detail these guys do. If you need lessons Scott is a fantastic guitar teacher and they have violin, ukulele and other instrument instruction. We are lucky to have a resource like this in Birmingham!

I took a 2008 Gibson LP in for a level and re-crown, they did a great job like brand new plays like butter. Will definitely be using them again. It is great to know we have a great instrument repair in Birmingham, no need to go to Atlanta or Nashville. Thanks!

Best experience, they are very hands on and help you for what you are looking for and figuring out what you are looking for if you have no clue about stringed instruments and wanting to start, I have been going to this shop for a while now and I cant help but wonder what inspired this small group of people to carry out such a remarkable business carried down from father to son. This company, let me rephrase that, this family of people related or unrelated, have made a truly inspired mark on many peoples lives by touching them with the art of music.

This shop is great. Jason set up my 2006 D18 V with a new bone saddle & nut and got everything dialed in just right. She plays and sounds fantastic.

Nobody better in the business. Just took my double neck to Jason and he did a fantastic job on setting it up!!!

Bob runs a great shop that is centered around the customer and the instruments (in that order). Though he is busy about rebuilding or retooling and instrument he never allows his responsibility to distract from the customer. And once you by an instrument from him you are in the club and community that he has built in and around the store.

Bob runs one of the coolest instrument shops youll find anywhere. Though he is always busy either revitalizing worn instruments or building new ones, he has always had time answer my newbie mandolin questions or take a look at what ails my guitars.Looking forward to checking out this new location!

Mr. Tedrow was very friendly and helpful! Ive wanted a concertina for a long time and contacted him about either making or ordering one for me. He set me up with a Clover that he worked on and its been great! The store is really nice with lots of practice rooms and he let me use one to try out my new concertina. Mr. Tedrow was very knowledgeable and I will now consider him first when looking for new instruments or repairs.

Ive never dealt with someone so rude over the phone. The owner tried to guilt me with sarcasm and acted like victim when I questioned a price. Full story: I asked to order a cello string. All was going well (owner answered questions about speed of shipping and availability of the string), but then he quoted a price ($81) that was far above what other shops charge. I said respectfully that Ive purchased the string for $45 at other walk-in shops and he became sarcastic and argumentative with me, claiming he was holding my hand through the process, and said Well, I have to pay $35 for this string so what do YOU think is fair for ME to make? $15? What is 35 + 15, huh? Ohhh, maybe $50 is more than you can afford? A simple, well this is my price would have been fine as a response from him, but I felt disrespected so I hung up and decided Im never going to spend a dime Homewood Musical Instrument Co. I advise everyone else to steer clear of this shop and the guy who owns it.
