It was my first time eating here, I walked in and I felt like it was a basement with tables. So I sat down table was sticky, there were flies, Anyway I ordered cheeseburger deluxe and drink. I get my food I then took 2 bites of my cheeseburger and I felt like I was chewing something gummy? There were chunks of this black fat in burger, and burger had an odor. So I grabbed knife and fork to cut burger into pieces, well the fork was dirty and the ends were bent out of shape, here is the bonus knife was dirty and had snot on it!!! Here is a picture. I won’t be coming back for sure.

We have only been here once before so I cant speak for everything on the menu but we were dying for a geyro and this place was recommended by my son. Let me say it did not disappoint!!! This was the best lamb geyro we have had in a long, long time! Not real cheap, but excellent tasting, an entire meal and worth every penny!

Had dinner with my wife there earlier this week. We have had breakfast there occasionally which was okay. Service is hit miss even before Covid and current labor shortage. We stopped there because of the sign that said $9.99 specials,and we like to give locals our business. The special list in the menu had no $9.99 meals. Prices were on par with much nicer diners in the area and slightly more than causal dining places.We were greeted by the chef/owner. When our waitress arrived, she was a bit rude and snarky, and when we asked about the 9.99 Specials she said the sign was old. We were one of two couples in the place eating, yet service was not great.The food was okay. If you dont feel like going far, dont mind a bored waitress with a bit of an attitude, and like average food, then you will not be disappointed. I really wanted to like this place, but Id rather drive a few minutes out of town and get something better.

Small but surprisingly amazing food. We were lucky enough to happen by on a day the owner was cooking. Want a treat, everything was delicious. Even short staffed the server was awesome.

There is just something about having a hometown diner. Very friendly and homey feel. Food was excellent and the service wonderful. I would highly recommend it to anyone looking for a quick meal in the Hopatcong area.

Im not too concerned with the service. Hopatcong doesnt have a lot of good eat out food imo but so far this place has had the best food Ive gotten around here since Ive moved here. I cant believe it took me 3 years to try this place.. Please dont ever let your chef leave he/she is exelent.

Vegetarians - get ready 2 B happy! This is Ur oasis of whole-food, lakeside nutrition. (Well, no, you cant actually cruise up in your boat...) Their veggie wrap is packed full of all kinds of garden-fresh goodness, cooked, rolled 2 perfection and held firm in a cool, form-fitted sleeve. I asked them to put addl greens (arugula?) & hot peppers if they had them, and they were happy to do what they could to customize my order. I believe they offer a choice of whole-wheat or tomato basil wrap. Instead of conventional fries I opted for sweets instead. Excellent - cripsy! The pies are SO DARN GOOD too, and I know pies, my mom was a PIE-MASTER, LOL!I cant speak to their speed of service because I pre-ordered for take-away.They know how to do vegetables @ Hoptacong Diner, and theyre inviting, warm, sweet folks who greet you with a big hello and smiles! Prices are only a little high, but its NJ lake food! You will think Ur eating FOR FREE when you look at veggie burgers and wraps @ some of the other diners in the same area - in$ane. Reasonably priced, good veggie food is hard to find around there so I ordered two!

We got the spanikopta meal and a waffle for each of my daughters. The food was delicious and the owner/cook/waiter was absolutely so sweet, kind, and helpful. I highly recommend this diner, Im only in town for a couple weeks but plan to be back.

Great food, but terrible service. In a NJ diner its uncommon to have to wait more than 5 minutes for a coffee refill let alone have your food delivered and never see your server again, she was distracted with her cell phone at the front counter and never checked in on us or refilled any drinks. We were the ONLY people in the diner and we had to get up and go to the front counter and ask to pay. This has been a trend throughout three separate visits. Keep going back due to proximity and the food really is great, they just need better help.

We went there for Mothers Day simply because it was close, raining and we were a little last minute in deciding to go out as it was already after 6pm. We were surprised to see a Mothers Day list of specials and my husband and I ordered the special combo chicken & eggplant parm w/spaghetti, soup and a dessert all part of the special. We also ordered for take home too. My husband had a question about chicken in a basket and the chef came out and he then made that perfectly that we all shared. My son devoured his Hopatcong burger in record time - he said it was the best he ever had and he says its his new favorite spot - cozy enough too. Whoda thought we would hit a home run for Mothers Day last minute? Its not a typical diner in someways, but I now feel like that gives it character. We will be back for Fathers Day. ;-)

Staff is rude. I ordered online and the food was VERY late. Like 20 minutes past my pick up time. Thats fine. Stuff happens. But dont be rude about it and tell me Im too early when Im actually 5 minutes PAST the pick up time they gave me. Just so rude about it. If they apologized I wouldnt be writing this review. Instead they were rude and insisted I was wrong even though we both had the order slip proving I wasnt. And it was an order of fries, 2 soups and a milkshake! I worked in a Diner. Thats a 5 minute order. I know restaurants get backed up and online ordering is hard but at least be kind and maybe apologize instead of telling me Im wrong and treating me like a nuisance just because I want to do business with you.

Place is the absolute worst. Complete insult to be considered a New Jersey diner. Ordered food at 615 said be ready by 640. Stood there and waited with about 10 other people. Asked if it was gonna be done soon the lady with a full miserable attitude said 5 minutes more. Ended up waiting until 730. Was about to walk out but I wanted to see how long can go without giving me my food. A horrifying joke of a restaraunt

They make the most delicious cakes that they don’t list on the online menu, so I had to call for the selection. Never sorry ordering from here, always satisfied!

Good food at a fair price.

This place is like a diamond in the ruff. The penne al vodka was to die for. The pasta was cooked perfectly, and the sauce was flavorful! The Hopatcong Salad was delicious as well. The chicken was seasoned throughly and cooked to perfection. The customer service was amazing. I forgot to ask for the cashiers name but he was very kind and accommodating! We recommend going if you ever have a craving for delicious food!

I take my family to this place from time to time! This is the best place to have a bite. I visit this place frequently. The food is very good, the staff is polite and the prices are decent. I like being in this place to have a nice supper.

Very cozy little restaurant, our waitress was very pleasant served us quickly and our breakfast was excellent!! My grandson said his hash could have been little more cooked (wish he said it while we were still eating )Although I have a feeling that had I had them put it back on our wonderful waitress would have taken care of us. I like this little diner very much. I was visiting my family as I am from out-of-state so for me to like a diner that I am not used to, you can bet that its a good.!!

Food is good, prices are good, and service is good for the most part. One waitress in the morning is more focused on talking about her social life and walking around than serving her customers, and it seems like she forgets about her customers. Every time we come in and shes serving, we know were going to be sitting here for a while; whereas, service is usually very quick and food is always hot and tasty.

Great family place, plenty of delicious food made from scratch, owner pleasant & kind to everyone. So glad this is right in our own neighborhood. Feels like family. Desserts are fantastic! We come often.

The first entree in my takeout order was supposed to be grilled chicken, but they gave me chicken with watery barbecue sauce instead. The waffle fry side was good, and all I ate for dinner because I cant have barbecue sauce. The other entree was a very dry penne with vodka sauce and they forgot to include the soup. Disappointing and overpriced. They offered to make the chicken again, but by that time it had been 49 minutes since I placed the order and I was unwilling to drive back and wait another 49 minutes.

I have always been told never judge a book by its cover. At first my fiancé and I were a little skeptical, but we were very surprised by how delicious the food was. The service was also very prompt and very pleasant. Definitely give this place a try.

Ive eaten here several times and havent had a bad meal yet. The service is better at some times than others, but the staff is always very friendly and pleasant. I have enjoyed breakfast, lunch, and dinner here. You can get in and out fairly quickly if you need to. They also have a great selection of desserts! Definitely worth a visit!

Great cozy local diner with wonderfully friendly staff - Pat is a delight and Marci is great too - they even have some impressive healthy/conscious options that I have been quite pleased to enjoy - the veggie wrap is good - the quinoa plate is excellent - the mango blueberry smoothie made with fabulously fresh fruit was one of the best Ive had - their coffee is good too - I will surely be back. Id love to see or even help them add something like scrambled tofu, dairy/egg-free pancakes, etc.

Visited from San Diego, and decided to give this cute diner a shot...twice because it was soooo good. The pancakes were the best pancakes I’ve ever had, and I’ve had many...on both coasts. The potatoes and Taylor Ham and eggs were cooked to perfection and the service we received from Marci was the cherry on the icing. She was sweet, full of personality, and attentive to our needs. Never had to ask for a refill. So, if you’re in Hopatcong and are looking for a hearty breakfast, stop here....you won’t be disappointed...just full and happy.

Went to the attack on diner for their Friday night buffet. They had a large selection but only 2 of the items the sliced state and panne with vodka sauce was hot. I had two servings of pasta and my wife one. All plates sat on the table. No one came back to even check If we wanted coffee or dessert. We got up and went to the register to pay our bill. The lady behind the register after giving us our change tapped the tip bucket and said leave it here. I responded to that by saying that tip is on the table. How rude that was to say such a thing. Our 1st time there and it will be our last. The young waitress that was there Said she may not understand since shes from a different country. Maybe Im wrong but if you come to open a business up in this country you should learn the language and its customs. Jerry

This is Steak Pizzaiola. With sauteed onions and peppers, topped with melted mozzarella cheeses. Served with loaded mashed potato! And a soup or salad! All for about 16$ Enough to feed two! Totally eating here again!

I have eaten here/gotten take-out about a dozen times since they opened and I have NEVER been disappointed! Good for lunch, breakfast, dinner, or dessert. Definitely worth checking out.

The food was good .I got the chicken curry and my daughter got chicken fingers and fries that came with a ice cream sundae. There red velvet cake is Good. They have the best onion rings in town. Sevice is great everyone is friendly. I would go again.

WORST service in the area. Tried to call in a pick up order this morning and was on hold long enough that I was able to drive from my house and walk in and order to go while still on hold (its a 7 minute drive). Its ALWAYS the same waitress that provides the same terrible service. Love the food and have been here at least 6 times. Today was my last straw. Goodbye Hopatcong Diner.

They have a decent selection on their menu with a larger variety of vegetarian choices than most diners. It has a classic diner vibe, the pricing is reasonable for the food you get, and my orders are always ready when expected.

My first experience was incredible! My mouth savored a juicy burger and every minute of it, I was amazed on how delicious it was! Definitely a place I would recommend having meals at!

Not really a great place to stop and eat. Service was slow, food was greasy, no one knew what they were doing, owner seemed to have no clue how to run a business and talked to employees like they were dirt in front of customers.

Not pleased. They opened late 7:10 I came from the the gym on the way to work. Had poached eggs on a hard roll and a coffee. $7.00 charged me more than the menu price for 2 eggs and an additional $1 for the hard roll. Food was ok. Coffee was good, but unfortunately I probably wont be back.

Dont usually post reviews but I have to say the first time I came here the food was great and staff was fast and kind.. that was when they first opened. Ive been there numerous times after that and the food was absolutely awful and the service was beyond terrible. I brought my niece in whos 1 years old while we walked in had to walk past our waitress smoking a cigarette in front of the front door and when I asked her for a high chair she told me to go get it. There was 4 of us eating and every one of our orders had something wrong with it. The straws were ripped up and disgusting and the food was undercooked. I dont know what happened there but I can see how we were the only ones there on a Saturday night. Id give this place 1 star if my first experience wasnt so good. Need to consider new wait staff and head chef

My family & I have been here many times, and every time the food & service has been very good. Have had burgers, chicken tenders, shrimp, & a monte cristo. If you dont know what that is, you have to go & try one. Also tried some fresh made cannolis,

Nice little diner. Came here with my family for some lunch after working all morning. Food was as aspected for a diner. Large portion size and friendly service. The only draw back was the long ticket times. We waited a good 30 35 mins for our food. I wouldnt of cared if our orders were complex but it was just burgers. Recommend though.

Food is basic diner fare, but tasty & convenient, we always do take out, never eat-in. There is one waitress who has taken our order and it has come home consistently wrong. They try to remedy it by fixing it at the counter, and Ill wait another 10 - 15 mins to have the order complete. Or Ill call about the messed up order and they offer to fix it, and for me to come back to pick it up, but I decline. This last time, there were 2 things missing, so I called. I said, Im not one to complain about wait staff or customer service, Ive let it go several times before, but the order was wrong. AGAIN. She asked if we wanted to come back for the missing items, I said no - she says, well I dont know what youre asking. I said an apology first, and its not that I need more food, its the principle of getting the order correct and maybe theres a better process to taking and repeating back the order. She hung up on me. I called back, no one answers. So I went back there, and said uhm, you hung up on me and then didnt answer the phone. Again she responds - well I dont know what you want from me. I said this is the 4th or 5th time youve taken my order and its wrong, at this point Im heated, and she said well so do you want the missing items (fries, no thanks we dont need more fries). I said no, again its the principal of your customer service. She then said - well you didnt order that, and I dont know what the problem is you werent charged for it anyway. I said why would I lie about what I ordered, call back twice and show up here if I didnt order what Im telling you I said. She then says - well I didnt hear that... Ok then, well there is the disconnect, and I get no apology and then treated like Im the one in the wrong here? She puts her hands up and says Im busy - I dont have time for this, and youre yelling at me in a public place. The joint is EMPTY, and I said I can speak however I choose, still not yelling, but definitely not happy! She said ok Ill call the cops. I said go ahead then, Im not doing anything wrong. She at this point is backing away into the kitchen, calling I think Mario for some help, he doesnt even budge. She then throws up her hands again and says I dont know what you want, I said to stop walking away from me and have a conversation like an adult? She turned and ran to the back and just hid there until I left. I can guarantee her retort to this is some crazy lady coming in yelling at her. No, I tried to resolve this civilly twice over the phone and came all the way in to speak to you in person, but I got nothing but attitude as if I was a lunatic. It sucks because I am all about contributing to my local mom & pop shops. My whole point of trying to speak with her was to help improve future interactions with customers so they continue to do well. We have given this place so many chances when Ive gotten my orders wrong, and the common denominator is only when this particular woman is taking the order. I can cook my own dinners, we frequent this place when its a busy night in our family and want a little variety from Chinese food & Italian food. At this point, Id go the extra 10 miles to give someone else my business. Oh and PS - I saw her use her fingers to help scoop ice cream once.
