Once again Hance Hardware has saved me unknown hundreds by providing just the right fix with their invaluable ingenuity and experience. This time they fixed a cross-threaded AC fitting that likely would have meant replacing the whole unit. It took them two minutes. From home plumbing to electronics to gardening to having just the right tool—do yourself a favor and check with Hance when you hit a snag in your project, they’ve seen it all. Keep up the good work!

Ive been shopping at Hance my whole life. This family run business helped our business (Kingdale Kennels) with everything we needed to repair and fix on the daily. Shop local friends. It makes a huge difference - and the service is second to none!

Nice hometown feel, staff was friendly and experienced.I have 25years in this industry so I may be biased.I would give a better rating but after purchasing items I asked to use the restroom.I was told, we only have a private one due to covid. Then pointed me to down the street. Id dont listen to where.I would think an old hardware store that sells plumbing and sanitation supplies would understand the history of plumbing and how it was developed for public sanitation reasons. And hand washing is more effective that hand sanitizer and masks. Besides if you can take my money but not my germs? Then why are you open to the public?I find these policies very ignorant to those with medical needs also.

Normally a great place. But I went to get a key copied and the first copy didnt work, so I had drive back to get a second copy. The second one worked. A little frustrating, but not the end of the world. I still recommend them

Normally I love this place, it’s a little more expensive than Menards and Depot to the north but closer and most of the employees seem to care. Not today though, the old lady at the cash register; or should I say witch with a capital B, gave me some of the worst customer service I’ve ever experienced. And that includes working with Walmart or Comcast as the benchmark for bad. She was terse, rude and condescending. I should have gotten her name so management can make the necessary corrections. But I’m guessing I’m not the only one to complain about her so I’m sure she will get her comeuppance. Anyway, I guess I’ll be making the slightly longer drive to Menards from now on. Also, to the owner I’ll happily take this down if the issue is dealt. Big fan of Ace and this store in general…usually, but one bad apple can ruin an experience.

I recently moved to Hopkins from the inner city, and this week my folks came to see my new place. Dad and I stopped at this ACE to grab a few essentials and he was really impressed with the service. Dad is a life long rewards member and hails from a small charming town in Wisconsin where employees greet you by name at the door, so when he was singing this location’s praises all the way back to my house, I knew it was time to hop on google and write a review. For the record I feel the same way. I did some shopping here a week ago and it felt like a classic ACE with no detail overlooked. I feel fortunate to have quick access to this business, and I’ll be returning often.

I didnt like how two employees followed me around the store. They didnt ask me if i needed anything but when ever I was in a corner touching something they would walk by..

Fast and amazing service! Snow blower wouldnt start. They were able to pick it up, fix it and return it all within less time than quoted. Very impressed with their services. Thank you!

The worst employees. We have lived here in Hopkins for almost 2yrs. My husband has supported this store a lot as we are remodeling. My MIL gifted me a pot from here that started chipping after only a few uses. First off, they wouldn’t consider any option of helping me return/exchange. I told them how much we support the store. They still didn’t care. The older blonde women is always rude. I will make sure to tell all our neighbors about our experience as well. We love supporting local but clearly Ace didn’t mind loosing loyal customers over a $50 pot that was defective.

This place is great for repairing items from the past. If you need old parts or keys to an antique door, go here. They have an in house locksmith. Worth the drive.

Bad customer service in the paint department. An employee with a bushy beard stood there facing me while I waited for him to make eye contact with me and at least tell me I will be right with you. He completely ignored me as well as another elderly customer before me. Dont go there for paint unless you want to be treated like a nobody.

What can I say, its an old fashioned hardware store. They have anything you need, the staff can answer just about any question you have AND GREAT POPCORN. My suggestion is pour yourself a bag (next to cashiers) THEN do your shopping.

Cashier has bad attitude, but what a coincidence if it’s a customer she knows. She’s really friendly. Don’t recommend it.I guess no credit card purchases allowed unless you spend $2.00. Which it’s a scam, you can afford the credit card fees and if you don’t want to deal with that. Don’t even bother running a business.

I shopped here a number of times in the last 10 years when I needed convenience or a service. The staff is pretty helpful and friendly but I have to agree that the cashier in question is kind of curt. I brought in a storm window for repair and I was charged much more than I was told it was going to cost. What struck me, though, was the poor condition of the store. Broken windows, grimy and peeling linoleum and electrical cords taped to the floor. Merchandise was sparse on many shelves and the store front is looking pretty distressed. I came away wondering when they will be closing for good. A city inspector would have a heyday. A hardware store, of all places, should have no excuse for exhibiting poor maintenance. Hope things improve because local hardware stores are critical to the maintenance of the community the Hopkins community does appear to be experiencing some significant challenges.

Quick service, knowledgeable staff that helps me so much faster than big box home retailers. They even offered to put my new license plate on with the bolts I purchased. A+ service!

We came in and inquired about a rug doctor on Thursday August 8 at about 2:25pm with my wife and daughter. The lady working at the register was not helping anyone else so we asked her for some information and assistance. It seemed like answering any questions we had was a chore, and they were answered extremely rudely. We decided to leave, and that is when she asked if she had done something wrong. We like to support small businesses, and I hope this is not how others have been treated. We will be taking our business elsewhere.

Like a recent reviewer pointed, this store definitely does price gouging. The essentials like cleaning supplies are marked almost double the prices. Such a shame to do this to the community during this difficult time.

This is a great hardware store. Good service and they genuinely understand the idea of helping people find out or figure out what they need. Its a go-to for me. Especially if I dont want to traverse the aisles of Home Depot or Menards.
