This was my second visit to Fosters Automotive Services. The service was amazing and definitely consultative. My car AC wasnt cooling properly, and Jimmy and Mike helped get me squared away in no time. I dont speak car lingo at all, so they were super detailed on the issues that needed to be replaced. This family owned business really provides quality customer service. Ill definitely be back.

To be clear, they successfully completed my inspection. No complaints. But the owner aggressively accosting everybody about their personal political beliefs re: Afghanistan, masks, Biden, etc. while NewsMax blared in the background is not an experience I would have signed up for voluntarily. My politics may differ from theirs, but only one of us was insisting on talking about them, and it wasn’t me! You run an automotive shop, maybe save the politics for people who aren’t paying you for a service.

Staff very friendly,knowledgeable,professional, clean, tries to help you save money instead of just taking it. I would recommend anyone to take your vehicle here and you will be very satisfied.

I bring my car here regularly because its super close, but also because theyre friendly and fast. Without an appointment, I brought my car in for a state inspection and was there for a total of 25 minutes. Unheard of! Definitely recommend.

I have used Foster’s several times over the past few years and I am always completely satisfied. It is a great thing to have a knowledgeable and reliable mechanic. I highly recommend developing a relationship with a mechanic for routine maintenance and oil changes so that when something goes wrong, they are familiar with your vehicle and you know you can trust them. If you go to most name brand shops, you will be dealing with always-changing sales people, whose job is, well, sales. At Foster’s you are dealing with the same long-term owners who are mechanics.

I just moved to the area, finding a good mechanic that is both knowledgeable and honest is a tough and risky task. My realtor recommended Fosters based off his positive experience. My experience at Fosters was exceptional from the moment I came in the door explaining the issues my car was having to the moment I left in a car that drove better than ever. I loved that this is a family owned business and it shows from the compassion you dont get at other places. The guys in the office and in the shop working showed me the problem areas before they started the work and even after the work was complete. I would highly recommend this shop to anyone looking for good, quality work even if you have to drive a little way to get to them.

I took my vehicle here for a second opinion on an A/C issue. They found a cable unplugged (missed by another shop). Ultimately they then changed out some components that were not functioning properly and it cost 1/2 what another shop quoted. Plus they said car wouldnt be ready until the following day, but they finished the work before end of the first day. The people are friendly and obviously efficient at what they do.

I wanted to give them a chance because theyre friendly and helped me out when I locked my keys in the car. So I dropped off my car 4 days ago for a leak; I reached out twice but they havent reach out once or even started working on my car so frankly Im disappointed. Im taking my car else whereThey do fix car windows quickly though

Im always hesitant about places that charge diagnostic fees especially if it’s before they even attempt to diagnose the vehicle and charge you as soon as you walk in because thats usually their way of taking your money without actually doing anything but I gave them the benefit of the doubt and got charged basically 200$ for nothing. 100$ diagnostic fee for them to tell me my car needs a 400$ decarb which is actually highly recommend to never do to your car unless its a last resort which my car is 5 yrs old with 60k miles... dont think its gunna fall apart tomorrow. I also explained my throttle body was JUST cleaned last week which they said it wasnt done right and proceeded to charge me another 100$ for something i can do myself in 5 min. Of course they dont tell you they are charging you for that until the end so whatever price they return with your gunna have to foot the bill. 200$ later my car is in just as bad of shape as it was when i went in. My usual rule is if someone is charging you a diagnostic fee they are afraid they wont find something to fix and want to charge you for something anyway, be aware.

Magical place in winter.

This place treated me better than family. I was driving through Houston traveling and a crucial part went out on my vehicle. The team here treated me so good, better than anyone else could have. Their workers all seem like genuine solid people and a really nice shop they have here. I would recommend 100 times.

As always, Fosters saves the day! Bought a new (to me) car with some issues, needing to drive it to Dallas within 24 hours.... Where normal shops would give you a $1000 run around for a week, Jimmy said yup, we can do thatAmazing shop, amazing staff, and amazing work from every single person at this place. Have always and will ALWAYS trust Fosters team with my cars. Cant be a car shop in the same neighborhood since 1952 without being honest and fair!

So rare to find a place open since the 1950s! I much rather go to mom and pop place in general, and so glad the GPS sent me here or I would never have found it otherwise. Nice people, clean pleasant waiting area and got the job done.

Took my car in for a transmission problem! Was told they couldnt fix it! Went to pick up my car! The check engine light was on! & wouldnt start! They tried to make me believe it just happened from sitting up!! Every poor shop ! They will cause problems for u to bring ur car back! I have my state inspection! & video! To show! In 10 days! It went to passing inspiration! To not even cutting on

Went in with a couple of issues and talked to Alan. He was very knowledgeable and informative about what could possibly be going on with my car. They found the issue and fixed it. Alan then contacted me, he explained in detail what exactly was going on and he was very honest and fair with pricing. After my car was stolen and then found again, I was looking for a trustworthy mechanic to take a look and make sure everything was still in good condition. What I found was a group of people with courtesy and compassion far exceeding my expectations.From the start on the phone I was shown sympathy and invited in. I was given a ride from and to the shop while they looked things over, and when they did find an unrelated issue, they were quick to call with a very reasonable offer to fix it. It was quick, affordable, and the warm service was just what I needed after such an unpleasant incident.I would STRONGLY recommend this place to anyone looking for good service at a good price from good people.

Before coming to Fosters, I got an estimate on repairs for many parts of my car at multiple shops. Everywhere was around $1900-2100. Fosters charged only $1250 and has been the best service with the most hospitable owners I have ever met within this industry! Mike and Alan will tell you exactly what problems your cars are having and offer you options for your vehicle. I let them know I only plan to use my car for a couple more years as its getting old and worn. Unlike other places that are sketchy and corporate owned, they offered me the best parts but even offered me cheaper options knowing my cars situation. They dont make as much profit off it but Alan and Mike arent in the business to cheat you out of your money; theyre in the business for their love of cars and to carry on the family business. They even gave me a ride back to my place and picked me up once my car was done. These guys can get your car in and out of the shop within a day, whatever the task may be.Dont get cheated out of your money by going to a corporate owned shop. Not that Im against corporations, but its undeniable that a corporations goal is to make as much profit as possible. I have called and visited around Houston and Fosters has by far the lowest labor rate, which is why theyre such a great deal. They give you an even lower labor rate when its your first visit.Mike and Alan want the best for you and will only recommend things for your car if you actually need it, not to try to yank an extra dollar off you. Trust them if they say you need something, its only for your safety and so the damages wont cost more in the future.If youre looking for the best service, the best prices, and the most knowledgeable and honest mechanics, Fosters is your go-to shop!

I went in today for a car inspection and they were affordable and efficient! the gentleman who inspected my car was friendly as was the gentleman i believe to be his son. the only improvement could be the attitude of other employees but i understand it was cold and early when i came in. i would definitely recommend them to anybody!

Had an amazing experience at this garage! Alan is the best!!!! It is really nice to find people that treat you so well. He was very honest and straightforward. The repairs were very fast and they made me feel cared for as a customer. I definitely feel like I got a great deal. It is also a really nice touch that they drop you off and pick you up. Wish there were more than five stars!

I have taken my car here over four times for repair, and its always been a positive experience. They have listened to my concerns and questions and answered in a timely manner. If my car had parts that were difficult to find they tracked them down and at a fair price. Good old-fashioned family business and great customer service.

I went in to get checked out and inspected. I highly recommend them to everyone. Great staff and fantastic work. As a car enthusiast Ive been in a lot of shops. and met lots of mechanics. As far as Im concerned Fosters is the place to go. since I cant seem to say it enough. thanks again guys.

Came in with a faulty sunroof that would not fully close. I was quoted $3500+ to replace it, getting a new part from the dealer or about $1750 from a totalled vehicle. I asked if they could just close it and disable it. I was told that it would cost over $700 to do that since they would have to remove the whole siding and could not guarantee that they could get it shut. 1h after on YouTube I found a video that resolved the issue, forwarded it to them and asked them to do it for me. They did, but they had the audacity to charge me about $100 to diagnose the problem in addition to an hour of labor! I will never return to this place!

They will pick you up and drop you off (within reason). They have a ton of experience and wont stiff you. I am so grateful to have found a decent mechanic shop that I regularly bring them coffee! Based on my experiences, Fosters is a great Houston institution for automotive services. During my college days, Fosters had (still is) always been reliable and has fixed a number of my past car issues. Recently, my Toyota Avalon had an issue where my headlights would turn off randomly and then when I turned off my headlight switch and turned it back on, the headlights would work again. But it would happen randomly and I didnt want to continue driving knowing that this could be an issue. I took my Avalon in and Alan diagnosed the problem. He listened carefully and explained to me the issues with the car. In comparison to quotes others have written online on other sites in regards to this issue, Fosters did a great job in giving me a reasonable price for awesome work. Ive had the car for two weeks since the repairs and the headlights are working great! I go to Fosters because theyre honest (they take the time to explain the issue to you), do good work and they do it at a fair price.

These guys are the friendliest and hardest working people I have dealt with in a long while. They replaced my entire motor for an amazing price. For half of what the dealer was going to charge me! They also took the time to educate me on what I needed to do with my vehicle as far as after care and have been eager to help me with any issues I have had since which have only been trying to get my car ready for vehicle inspections. Im totally new to the area and I go to U of H so besides being extremely convenient to the location, they cut my charges to $200 compared to Sears who was charging me $400! Extremely friendly and quick. Gave me a ride back to my dorm for no charge and picked me back up. Thank you Allen for saving me money and cutting that price in half!

Brought my Camry in because the oil and engine light came on within days of each other, and my engine began making a a strange noise. Alan diagnosed my problem (previous oil change place used the wrong oil, and my engine was burning through it), and explained the issue in full to me. Now Im using the right oil. As usual, Fosters goes above and beyond when discussing the issues with your car, and are supremely helpful and professional

I took my car here after some of the lights on my dashboard turned on. They were courteous and very helpful in diagnosing the problem. They took the codes from my car and told me the possible causes of the issue. I left the car with them overnight and they gave me a ride to my apartment, which was only a short drive away. The next day, they recommended some repairs but didnt push anything after I decided to hold off on them for the time being, since they werent exactly essential to the performance of the car. Overall, they were excellent when it comes to customer service and Ill make sure to go to them in the future for any car trouble while Im in Houston.

Fosters is a great place to take your car.. I just had my Car towed there because my coolant system went out.. they got back to me the next day with what was wrong.. how much the parts would be & labor cost.. Fair price .. they are professional & a local east side family business that has continued to serve the comuniry since the 1950’s..

Honest Mechanic sounds like an oxymoron. But here its the truth. They will take care of you and treat you with respect. Ive been to them three times. Once for an oil change and twice for car troubles. They were so kind and helpful. I honestly dont think Ill be bringing my car to anyone else.And the prices are more than fair.

Warning ! please trust me as you welcome in Allen is all a big show dont know if he still has that guy on the phone calling for parts before you even say yes fixs it .Its a guessing game with this guy. You remember me back around June 1996 ford F150 88 model you charge me about $500 You claiming it was my fluid pump when it was just the air gasket that cost $1.75 ! You cost me 3 days of work. Thanks buddy your full of it ! So thankful for social media these days keeps people on the look out from places like this !

And Im accustomed to being talked to like Im an idiot in car shops because Im a young, blonde woman (target sign on forehead) but they certainly didnt. I know from the work the did an my research this was also well priced.

You can trust this mechanic.I have taken my vehicles to Fosters 5 times and they have only taken my money 3 times. Two trips to Fosters resulted in some friendly advice and no charge at all. Literally. Try finding another mechanic anywhere that will tell a customer, Theres nothing wrong with your car afterall, it was just this small issue and we fixed it. Come back and see us when you really have a problem. No charge.Tonight when I picked up my truck for a real problem the charge was actually about $40 less than the quote. Clearly you wont be swindled here. They do honest work and are good people. I wont go anywhere else.

Old lady on the phone is completely rude and has no clue what good service is.I asked very standard questionsHow much Is it?How long is the wait?Huge attitude and when i said it was just a question she hung up on me. I really need an inspection and they are the closest to my house but I will NEVER go there based off of that alone.

Took vehicle in for a check engine light (small leak EVAP code) which I had already tried to fix myself but needed a smoke machine to find the issue.After reading reviews online I decided to take the vehicle in. I was explained the process in detail and made aware these issues are hard to diagnose. After a few hours I was told the issue was a line running along the firewall, figures it was the only line I couldnt get to! I was quoted a reasonable price to replace it and the check engine light stayed off.Alan, was very friendly and even made sure to give me tips on helping the engine cycle faster. I had a major problem with my Nissan Juke. After having my car towed to their location they were immediately helpful & gave me the complete overview of what to expect & when they could get my car ready to pick up. The next day i received a call from the head mechanic explaining to me what the problem was & how much it would be.. The cost was fair & they had my vehicle ready within 2 days... They are family owned & operated since the mid 1950s. The original owners son still runs the business & it shows.. They know what their doing & you can expect not to get screwed over like some places around the houston area...!

I have 60s model car. I came in for a safety inspection and they were beyond helpful. They offered to make an appointment to show me me some troubleshooting for minor but common and reoccurring issues. I plan on taking them up on this.

Honest Mechanics are hard to find!!!. They explained things with detail on what my car needed. Dealership tried to say I needed certain things done. And they explained what really needed to be done. I will take my car and future cars to them from now on... I Highly Recommend !!!!!!!!!

What really made my mind to go to them, Alan told me Mr. Pomier I dont know what other shops have told you but if parts dont need changing we wont change them. Alan saved me right around $900! The work they did and Jimmy who did all my front end work on my truck has my truck driving like new! They are a GODLY, TRUSTWORTHY SHOP! I WILL BE COMING BACK FOR ALL MY AUTO REPAIRS! As one review read, Allen is a big talker and pretends that he will do you right. Took in my Honda for Tensioner, O2 sensors and two heads replacements $2800. It didn’t even last a week, oil leak somewhere paid another $750...and still leaks. Allen said it would be another $2200 to fix the primary problem. Spent $3400 and he didn’t fix the primary problem...WTH. I took my to another auto repair shop...they quoted me $1400 to fix Allen’s mess up. Reporting this shop to the BBB.

Came here after AutoDoc in Montrose quoted me 1k to replace a headlight, pig tail wiring, and signal light socket. I left paying $450 for that at Fosters.Come here for an honest and trustworthy mechanic. Every mechanic here will talk you ear off if you let em. They are very passionate about what they do and about treating their customers fair!This will be my go to spot for all my auto mechanic needs from here on out.

Worst shop ever!! They replaced a transfer case on my truck put it in wrong and never took responsibility for it but still charge me over Two Grand dont trust the owner Allen hes very dishonest and misleading!

I try to do my own work whenever possible but there are some things I dont have the tools to do so I went to Fosters when I needed some springs compressed and bolted down on some shocks absorbers so that I could install them on my car. I went in late one day with the parts in my hand and got quoted $60 dollars to do it and when I returned two days later the same guy didnt remember what he quoted me and said he meant $60 EACH! Who bills per shock absorber, REALLY? I knew what he was doing but I really needed the job done so I haggled him down to $115, inluding tax, for a job that probably took 15 miunutes. I didnt get robbed of a lot of money but it just goes to show how they dont keep their word at this place. The guy himself (who I believe is one the owners) told me I should get those quotes in writing. That advice was the best thing to come out of my experience. Yes it IS a family owned shop and it seems that some of these 5 star reviews are from people that were referred by someone whos been going there for years, essentially being friends of the family. If they do EVER provide good service at a good price, dont expect it on your first visit.

Got oil change told me I needed a new belt. went to change the belt and noticed they did it when I changed my alternator. so I really didnt need it. thank goodness I didnt get it done
