This location is definitely set up different than the location on i-45 South. But we loved it. My husband was able to get everything he needed to make his fishing leaders. And I think this location might have a bigger selection on clothes as well. That was very friendly and had no problem helping me find what I needed.

The staff here is always extremely helpful, knowledgeable and trustworthy.The repair and service shop is the best in town and the guys working there are very friendly and professional.If you’re looking for pro gear, good service and know how then this is your place.

This is the best bait and tackle store around. Its basically the only one stop shop for your outdoorsman needs. Very well stocked and they are very knowledgeable concerning the products they sale. Shopping here during the Covid 19 seems like the flu did not even exist...everyone did wear facemask and practice social distance.The store is very clean and organize. The staffs did greeted you with a hello and a smile even with the mask on. The staffs are very professional and helpful.These are professional gears...quality products, so the price just a bit higher than other box stores.I would recommended to others and i definitely would come back for another visit.

Just started doing my purchases here and I must say the best experience by far, have a huge collection of Costa glasses in stock. The young man that helped me out 5 star. They do not apparently answer their phone so they obviously dont care about customers or they dont care to answer questions so they can get you in and pressure sell you.They have a few nice things but you pay top dollar. Very hoity-toity.

Great tackle shop, Ive been going here since before the name change, when it was still Cut Rate. Find what you need, anything from pond to offshore fishing. They also have a reel repair shop. Broken rod tip? Theyll fix it for you, or sell you what you need to do it yourself!

Very eerie atmosphere. I don’t get why there are 80 million light to medium 6-7ft rods in stock and so few med-heavy action 10-12fters. Maybe fly fishing tackle is the money maker here on the Texas gulf coast and the whole surf fishing thing is passé. And don’t blame Covid, I’ve been coming to thIs store erroneously for years and it’s always the same issue. Wander around looking for stuff that I need only to be met with empty shelves and polite but ignorant sales associates that can never help me anymore than I can help myself.

I absolutely love shopping here. There is a young man here that knows his stuff. Stay away from the short little man that looks like a hes having a midlife crisis because while knowledgeable he does try and upsell you on products. Not sure why, dont think they get comission on sale but, who knows. Anyways they have a great selection of products and they are well informed and friendly.

Spent around $750 today on 3 rods and a Orion cooler, Great staff. Yes some prices are ridiculously high but they have a huge selection of items. Just gotta search around and see what seems to be average price and you’ll find it. I will continue shopping here depending on what I need. Great store

I just wanted to leave a review and tell everyone how awesome these people are, i bought a $300 shimano rod here and it broke unfortunately but when i took it back to the store they very easily replaced it for me, the easiest return process with the friendliest guys, they even helped me find the replacement and made it a nice return. You can buy safely from these guys and rest assured they honor their warranties and are great guys, not to mention their selection of off-shore gear IMO is superior to the selection the other store on 45 has. Even though it is a bit further this is the store i will always go to for these and may more reasons. A+++

Dont purchase FTU rods!!! I bought one and the second time I used it I noticed that one of the eyelet inserts was missing. Now mind you the rod is only about a month old. I took it in and the guy said that the eyelets arent covered under warranty. This is supposedly their brand. If they making them how come they dont cover everything? Go to Academy and buy your rod, at least there they will make it right without charging you.Update...I purchased a second rod that was almost twice as expensive as the first. The second time I used it an eyelet insert came out. Not sure if Im just getting lemons or if all FTU rods suck. Someone please let me know.

Wow, if you are looking for a store to find specialized fishing tackle, this is it. You can find coolers, yaks, blanks, lures and more at this store! The prices are little steep for me but you will find the item you are looking for and even something your not looking for. I found some lure here that I had never seen before or heard of. Would def recommend any fisherman to go here and if your looking for great gift the guys that work here can def put you on a nice rod ad reel

Today my husband and I stopped here to make a purchase. We were never greeted and even after greeting staff, they were hesitant to respond. (Despite that we were still interested to make a purchase) My husband stood at the counter waiting to be helped and no one assisted us. They also watched us leave without any assistance and didn’t care to assist us. I got racist vibes from this place being that we were black but hey it’s 2019; not surprised.

This is more of a pro shop than a regular big box store. Shoppers will find a bigger selection of higher end fishing products. I really like the wide array of available gear. What I dont like are the sales people. Its hard to get good customer service. Idk what is up with the employees. They act like Guitar Center dbags. As if theyre too cool to work in retail.

Everyone here is super helpful. Its not every day you walk into a fishing store of this size and are able to really talk shop. I visit every time Im in the Houston area.

Salesman are 50/50 some are great and some have a attitude. I was going to make a 750.00 purchase butt salesman and I could not agree on display model reel. I just dont like buying display model items. Should have more stock on a 10000 Saragosa reels.

Very bad experience at this location, I will no longer shop here. I purchased a Shimano reel that cost over $300, it happened to be the display because it was the last one left. I had problems with it and try to return it because I only had it for one week. The manager had a no customer service attitude right off the bat, he had no intention of helping us from the get go.

Only place in town for rod builders... so its a win. The selection isnt great and the staff.... super elitist... which isnt great when youre talking about craft working. I dont talk to them anymore, just grab what I want and go.The location in south Houston BLOWS THIS ONE OUT OF THE WATER.

Just another really satisfying visit that resulted in a nice new Sage Rod and Ross Evolution Reel complete with some Rio line. I hadnt been to the I-10 location since it vacated the place over near Good Company BBQ / Carters Country. Nice big place. Kinda reminds me a little bit of the awesome store location down near I45 South / Beltway 8. Huge upstairs almost exclusively dedicated to high-end kayaks. I had no idea. I found the staff really helpful and answered all my questions without any pressure at all. Once we got back downstairs we found the Reel already spooled with backing and WF5F line. Now, this is an area I do know a lot about, so while I explained things like features and pros and cons of the various mid to high-end fly fishing equipment choices, the expert across the counter (Mike) patiently nodded and helped when invited. I couldnt have asked for a better experience for my friend. Mike has sold me fly rods, reels, and tying supplies since before his hair was gray. These guys may not get your award for personality of the year, but if you are looking for the very best quality equipment for ANY kind of fishing you may be into, this is one of the best places on planet earth to see all of it under one roof sold by guys that have access to the guys that absolutely know what they are talking about. If you want price, go to a chain store and save yourself the trouble and dont waste these guys time. If you want good equipment thatll last a lifetime youve come to the right place. Youll never have to wonder if its you or the equipment this way either.

Used to really enjoy this place when they had inventory. Have been waiting on some stuff which they have received, but not checked in yet for over 3 weeks now. Looks like a dad state of affairs when the shelves are barw, and the inventory is just sitting waiting to be checked in.

Some of the sales people werent very good help they just kind of points in a direction and thats it they wouldnt be anybody over there that will actually take you to the spot and help you out and then it took you awhile to find somebody they werent really doing very much the store was kind of slow but other than all the quality was pretty good

Overall great selection of salt/fresh water gear. Most employees do a good job pointing me to what I need or bringing it to me.But I needed some reels spooled, and after talking to the young lady behind the counter. We agreed Id pay for having the the spooling done.A young man came up right away, and very politely took my braid asked what line with what reel. Then started to set up.Right after an old man shows up doesnt ask anything gives me a smug look and started on my other reel. After putting about 50 yards on it he started me down again turns to the young gentleman and said STOP loudly. Then stared me down again looks to the cashier and says HE KNOWS HES GOTTA PAY FOR THIS RIGHT IM NOT DOING IT FOR FREE! Before she replied I answered yes, Im paying for the reels to be spooled as long as its done right you can charge all you want. The young lady then said thats right I hold him theres a fee to pay. He never said a word and got back to it.Needless to say he did a Horrible! Horrible! I mean Horrible! job braid was uneven & so loose I barely pulled and it dug into itself.He left before I said anything but I showed the cashier & young man who did my other reel they agreed it was unacceptable.No clue what I did to him or if he was just having a bad day ether way thats no way to act,treat, and go about doing something for a paying customer!

I cant figure out how this place rates as high as it does. They have a great stock of fishing tackle and quality gear but theyre a little oddly equiped on rods & reels. I frequently go to the Katy Freeway location but rarely buy anything because of the customer service attitude. In the repair shop their butts must be glued to the chairs. After you wait for their personal conversations to end they dont think enough to stand up and come to you to discuss your needs. It makes some since though since it is apparent after speaking that they just want you to go away. Ive had better experiences at the Sugarland location albeit with fewer visits. If you need something right now they will probably have it but chances are you will have a better experience elsewhere.

Fishing Tackle Unlimited has a good selection of fishing equipment. They carry premium brands at MSRP. Ive been there four times and will continue to come back.
