Very friendly staff and great experience. I have to drive 40 minutes since only here I get perfect fit for my fingers. If the place has empty lanes, he will get a lane for you to test, give recommendation and make adjustments on your drilling. Highly recommended!!

There’s a lot more to getting the right bowling ball these days than just picking a weight and color. I was very comfortable with my old trusty 16# urethane ball. I normally bowl 130-140 games consistently. But over the years I got more and more tired of trying to get that ball to hook on oil. I decided it was time to finally upgrade my ball. I walked into the pro shop and was greeted by Gary James. I admitted I didn’t really know where to start, and his selection was amazing. I needed help navigating all the latest stats to get matched up to the right ball. After watching me throw a few frames with my old urethane ball, he took me back to the shop and handed me another ball. I threw 3 strikes right off the cuff. I stood there, holding this ball (that wasn’t mine) with my mouth wide open. The back-end action was unlike anything I’d ever experienced. Back in his shop, I scanned the wall at all the various balls for sale. Gary showed me the ones that closely matched the one he gave me to try. I picked out a new Storm Match Up pearl, and that’s when things really got interesting.I had no idea there was so much more involved than just getting the ball holes to fit my hand. He measured tracks on my old urethane ball, and using my hand, he took countless measurements. He explained all the dimensions, the pin, the weight block, and how the tracks on my old ball helped determine where to drill. He knew what it took to make everything come together, and he explained it as he went along. I had a lot of questions (this being my first reactive ball) and he was very patient. He had the new ball ready to go within an hour! I immediately walked over to lane 19 and threw a 210 game (see attached)! This ball was tailored perfectly. Gary and his staff are friendly, helpful, and attentive from the second you walk through the door. I’ve had him fit and drill balls for me and my wife. He takes the time to ask the questions and do the measurements to make sure your ball is the best fit possible for you. I’ve been to some other shops here in Houston that provided good service but Gary goes above and beyond to see that you’re given the best service possible and after finding a shop like his I won’t go anywhere else.

Truly a 5 star establishment I would have given 10 stars. I came in to upgrade my equipment and been out of the game nearly 10 years. So I had a lot of questions on the different balls as to what does what etc. Gary broke it down for me and answered all my questions. I told him I have my old stuff with me and if I could show him what and how I was throwing my ball so we went to a lane and immediately he knew what I needed and and how he was going to drill my ball. If you really want to see what TRUE customer service looks like this is the place to come. Gary does carry a lot of inventory like he says they do. He also is a professional, passionate, down to earth guy and really enjoys helping he’s customers get in the right equipment from beginners to experienced. As a new bowler, I researched area pro shops to get fitted for my first custom fitted ball. The reviews about Gary could not be more accurate. He and Shaun were extremely knowledgeable and had a genuine interest in making sure that I purchased the right ball for me (There was no up selling which is greatly appreciated). The fitting process was amazing and Gary made sure that I was comfortable with the fit. I could not be more happier with my buying experience.

Just getting back into bowling after 25 yrs. Needed to refit my ball and upgrade my bag. Found Gary online. From the time I walked in the door I knew I made the right choice. All kinds of selections and his price was fair to what I would have spent online w/shipping. Gary is one of the best ensuring all my digits fit the right way. He even help choosing the right ball upgrade. Found one I could tryout so we bowled a game and he watched me bowl so he really knew my style. In the end I made the right choice going to Garys and would recommend him to anyone.

Providing absolutely amazing all around service, Gary was immensely helpful when i was getting my first ball! He was happy to give great tips and information on the sport, especially on the balls themselves. My family are recreational bowlers but eventually, we got to the point where we needed our own shoes and balls. Gary and all of his staff were extremely professional and knowledgeable. Their pricing is pretty competitive to online / mail order. But frankly Amazon is not going to provide you the knowledge and fitment expertise that these guys can. You get what you pay for. And when you leave the shop you’ll have gear that fits and works.It’s too bad that Gary’s located inside Copperfeld Bowl because I am not a fan of theirs, but I will definitely go Gary.

I remember his shop being off of 1960 and me being FASCINATED by the engraving machine. My dad has been coming to see Gary for YEARS and when it was time for me to get my first ball at 7 years old, who else would we go to! I still have that ball and when I started bowling again, I broke that sucker out and sure enough, I needed to get my finger holes and span widened a bit. Gary was at a tournament that day, so he was not there the day I went in to get my ball re-drilled, but Jared was great!With my dads advice, my husband, brother, and I purchased brand new bowling balls that needed to be drilled for the first time and where did we go? All together now... GARY JAMES BOWLING SUPPLY! Gary was in the shop this time and drilled all of our balls, put in inserts, and made sure we were all happy before we left! We went ahead and bought some bowling shoes while we were there :) I mean, if you are going to start bowling again... you need to do it right!Gary has since relocated from his 1960 location and is now inside Copperfield Bowl, which is GENIUS! Anytime a bowler needs anything, what better way to go see a pro inside a pro shop! Gary has the little things you need to make your game more comfortable and just in case you needed a new ball, he has those too!After getting our balls drilled, we took them out for a test run and any adjustments that needed to be made, we just walked right back over to Gary and he helped us make those adjustments!I definitely recommend Gary James Bowling Supply to fix you up! He definitely bowled a 300 with me and my family (that is a perfect game for all of you non-bowlers out there :P )!

Gary is awesome went in and picked out three balls with shoes and bags for me and my wife, and daughter. Gary is patient and is good at what he dose. We arrived at 3:30pm and left with balls drilled by 5:30pm . It was worth the drive. He is the man

My husband and I have purchased our bowling equipment from Gary for over 20 years and have never been disappointed. He was able to “diagnose” my bowling style and drill my bowling ball for a “full roller”.

Went in to get 2 balls filled and drilled. Gary and his guys are very knowledgeable and friendly. One of the balls needed a little adjustment after the first two weeks of play and Gary spent another 20 minutes with me to make sure it was a perfect fit. 1st class operation.
