This place has morphed into primarily, a restaurant. And very good one it is for the daily lunch crowd wanting fresh food and excellent coffee. The market it once was has given way more tables and seating. With the demise of Canopy, Revival has top shelf breakfast tacos. My side was a bowl of fruit and this is where the thoughtfulness appears. The grapes were halved and the apple diced to the size of the blueberries. You can get a taste of every ingredient with every fork load. Unlike nearby eateries, there is no rinds to parse or avoid, every bite is satisfying. My only regret is the poor lighting inside, as far as reading during your lunch break. Outside seating has expanded too, which I eschew, traffic can be audibly an distraction, with occasional bus fumes during a meal. The staff is attentive despite its youth and welcoming.
Very chill place - good food, good coffee. Staff very friendly, but... for me, just not a fan of the seat yourself, order at the window service model. If u have no problem with that, then - by all means! Give it a try! I loved my savory breakfast potatoes with the grilled onions- delish! Eggs were perfectly cooked!! Perfectly!! My french toast was moist, melt-in-your-mouth sweet goodness! But - cmon man - dont make me wait on line again just cuz I decided to get a cup of coffee (to go with my French toast! :). Bleh.
Simply the best breakfast & lunch spot in the Heights. We eat here every week because the service, food, coffee, and wine are simply incredible. They remember our order and even recommended new food items and wine that they know we’ll like. Oh! The wine selection is constantly rotating and we’ve never purchased a bottle of wine from here that we didn’t like. By the way, they’re all affordably priced! I can’t recommend Revival Market enough and encourage everyone in the Heights to make it a part of their regular routine.
A really good breakfast place with lots of coffee and breakfast options. I am giving them 4 stars because despite being there multiple times and letting them know, they always end up serving mildly hot hot chocolate . I mean it’s called “Hot” chocolate for a reason 😊. Other than that It’s really good and I’d suggest everyone to give them a try.
I love their quiche plate and side salad. It’s not overly dense, but light and so good. The customer service is always really great as well. Parking lot fills quickly, so keep that in mind when coming here.
Friendly staff. Very good coffee. I noticed that they have made an effort to improve the atmosphere for people not there for a full meal, and it is a nice improvement.Their meals and pastries taste really solid though.Only wish they were open on Mondays too though
What a great neighborhood joint. Excellent, unique, compact menu. Specialty, high end meat market is tasty and they have have great coffee/espresso beans...much more flavorful and aromatic than most places...and me knows me some great coffee houses n Htown. I will b back to try many more plates here...enjoy!
The service was good, at least some parts. My over easy eggs were just ok. I don’t think the pan was hot yet when the eggs were placed. I also didn’t like the perfectly round shape because a ring was used. The egg white part was a little rubbery. $2 for a slice of toast was unreasonable for me. The bacons and potatoes were very good and well prepared. The cube of butter was good quality but I couldn’t really spread it over much since it was solid and cool while the food was only slightly warm.Coffee was ok. Getting a refill on the coffee was a little bit of a pain, had to wait in the same line as everyone else and had to wait on the person behind the counter to be emotionally ready to pour the coffee.
I was a fumbling mess this morning and forgot to tell the cashier I wanted my order to go. Turns out what I ordered isnt a to go item because it requires a hot plate to be served. They handled my error with patience and grace. Swapped out my order midway through cooking, all the while remaining courteous. The customer service experience and food was excellent. Thank you.
They close before the time posted. Drove from cypress to get some meat on a Saturday. It was not 4 and they weee already closed.
Yes its a cool concept with an incredible meat market. But the food execution is just so-so. Come here to celebrate your fancy new Eat Local t-shirt and the discuss the nuances of your sandalwood-infused beard oil. Just dont expect flavor to back up the boastful market claims
Great service, and perfectly prepared artisanal food. Highly recommend the Spring Lamb Gyro or the 44 Farms Burger with the Warm German Potato Salad.
I’m giving it three stars for the value, the plates are pricey for what you get and the food was ok. In fact I’m being generous, we had to send a plate back (the falafel) and the portion of avocado on the replacement was scant. The chicken sandwich was delicious. Great service, cool vibe and the meat looked good. But the food was inconsistent, at least on this visit.
1. Slow service2. Over priced food3. “Ran out of breakfast tacos”. Should you run out if it is 14 dollars? The biscuit is cold and made a long time ago. Not very good. The bacon is the only redeeming quality of the place.
Poor customer service with arrogance. Not impressed with coffees not food either.
Get the Buttermilk Biscuit Sandwich! You’re life will be better for it! The scrambled egg is perfectly done and the side of potatoes salted just slightly. Was craving some solid breakfast food and happy I found this little place
The market part is great but the coffee is meh
Good food not rushed. Pricey but good quality.
Excellent food and service. Relaxing atmosphere.
I frequent many a coffee shop and this space has exceptional coffee. Not only for their variety-- cardamom rose and new Orleans lattes are favorites-- but for the quality. Sneaking its way into a weekend ritual.
I dont want to be unfair and give only one star when I didnt even stay to try anything but I can say the place didnt look like any of the pictures I found online... I was looking forward to visiting this place and had the idea there would be some neat things to see while being there... the was no real market side of it... its pretty much a coffee shop with some meat in display with extremely high prices... I understand its an expensive place what I dont understand is why theyre called market... or why its changed so much from the pictures I saw online (Im talking about the inside of it) in the pictures Ive seen flowers and different displays with stuff to purchase... in the store I found only a counter with meats, a few desserts and tables like in any coffee shop. I left disappointed.
My husband and I gave this place a try for lunch today. The cashier that took our order was not super friendly. She seemed annoyed and was a bit short with us. We ordered 2 coffees, they came out fast and tasted great! I got the garlic and herb chicken sandwich and my husband got the breakfast sandwich to-go. My husband thoroughly enjoyed his meal, but mine was disgusting. My sandwich was absolutely slathered in aioli, the lettuce was brown and wilted, my bread was so soggy, and the chicken tasted boiled. Priced at $16, I expected so much more :(
My rating is heavily weighted towards the coffee. They really are one of the first places in Houston that took coffee seriously (thanks to David who also runs Blacksmith) back in the day before it was a “market”, and that’s how I still see this place. You used to be able to go up to the coffee bar, get your coffee and a taco and sit down to eat it. Bigger food orders were handled at a different counter. I don’t love the newer layout where you have to take a table and get served and now I don’t even order food - I just get coffee ever morning on my dog walks. It’s extremely consistent. Almost all the indie coffee places can make an okay espresso. Only the excellent places can make good drip coffee on a consistent basis. There are plenty of places that only do it well 50% of the time and so I either don’t go back or when I’m there I just order espresso (eg Boomtown who sometimes serve what tastes like watered down drip coffee). Here, like Blacksmith, Catalina and Inversion, they get it right. The correct strength, the correct temperature and about the right price. Every single time.So long as this continues, they’ll get the business of our household every morning. Since I’m rating it as a coffee joint, I did take off a star for two reasons - they moved to polystyrene cups because they’re cheaper. I find this to be irresponsible and even though it says that 90% of it decomposes within 5 years...what about the other 10%? Paper cups are entirely recyclable and decompose entirely within a shorter period. Also, during covid I don’t love how busy they were getting and the tables are too close together especially when they weren’t requiring guests to keep their masks on.
Maybe it was on me for ordering these special items, but if you’re craving Viet iced coffee, this place is NOT the place to do it. It tasted like caramel phlegm. I went back another time and tried the campfire latte. It came out luke warm. Both times they didn’t appear very busy, but it was still a long wait.
If you are looking for a comfortable place for breakfast or lunch, try the Revival Market. You will be facing Heights Blvd and the side street White Oak. There are quite a few choices for breakfast with varying prices. The chicken salad was delicious with plenty of white meat. A favorite is the latte with the flower decoration. Guy waiters are friendly and check on you to see I all is okay. Nice and comfortable place with outside seating.
Fantastic place for delicious bites. Every item on the menu is tasty and their meat selection is unrivaled.
The customer service is fantastic. Personally, my taste buds do not align with that of Revival Market. If I preferred more fun/exotic tastes, I would definitely enjoy it.
Young lady taking our order didn’t appear to want to be there. Smallest most expensive coffee I’ve ever had - my friend and I both spontaneously laughed when we saw the “large” cup. We had a nice visit on the patio regardless.
A great place for brunch! In the last year or two it seems like theres a new owner because their menu and service are better. There are always families with small kids, or friends meeting for brunch. The french toast is delicious! It has chocolate chips, cinnamon, and some other things mixed into the batter. The avacado toast is pretty good too! Parking can be kind of a pain, but there is street parking. You can also buy different meats to take home with you like bacon. You can also order coffee to go at the coffee bar. The thunderbolt is pretty tasty! There is some outdoor seating that is dog friendly.
Theyve made a lot of changes over the years but the thing that matters most has stayed consistent: the amazing made-in-house charcuterie and local farm meats. Okay, and that breakfast menu (which changes seasonally) is to die for. I wish the breakfast options came with sides and I wish they still had dinner but those are my only two complaints. Come for the omelette and leave with the pate, prosciutto, and banana bread.
Service & Precations were top notch. Breakfast Revival was simple but good. Biscuit is layered & Croissant is butter.
They have the best vanilla lattes!! The reason... they use real vanilla bean. Everything I’ve eaten here is great too!
Came here for lunch and their garden salad packed plenty of flavor and came with crispy chicken which was lean yet juicy. It tasted fresh and delicious. Been here twice and hasn’t disappointed either time. Keep meaning to buy some meat from their butcher to try at home, they have a fantastic fresh range.
This place is phenomenal for brunch. Seriously good food and great service. Would highly recommend. Try the full Irish, it’s amazing. Only downside is this place is always packed (as it should be) so you might have to wait a bit (never longer than ~10 minutes in my experience) for a seat.
I ❤️ Revival Market. Its my home away from home, the food is ridiculously amazing and the staff are super friendly and knowledgeable. The Pastrami sandwich, the seasonal soups, and the mushroom toast are some of my favs but everything is delicious. Oh and the coffee is perfection. I think Im addicted but oh well. They go above and beyond to make you feel at home and Im so thankful that a place like this exists.
Nice cafe thats open for breakfast and lunch. Foods good. Chill atmosphere. Service was good. Id be back to try more of the menu.
Oatmeal bowl and yogurt bowl are jokes. $8 for oatmeal and a (ketchup-sized) little cup of sugar and grapes and milk??? Coffee is good tho. Food is fancy but heavy on the salt. Kinda dark inside
Came there on a bike ride early this Sunday morning. Lady yells at me my mask slipping down. Then it went downhill after that. If we are sitting there inside, why would you give us to go bags for all our meals. I have a theory, service, price and food have to equate and this place did not.
Usually, I say most food is good, sometimes, very good, but oh my goodness! The BLT at Revival Market is soooooo amazing! Its actually super good.
The atmosphere is nice with mellow background music (at least when I was there); food quality is high (I had pastrami sandwich with minestrone, both of which were tasty); maple pecan latte hit the spot; prices a bit on the high side, but worth it for quality; staff is nice. Would like to come back!
I really enjoyed eating here! Although it was small and crowded, the food was enjoyable and you are able to purchase the fresh meats too! The service was good, the atmosphere was very Heights-like, but parking was difficult to find!! I had the corn beef hash and it was scrumptious! The chamomile tea with honey washed it down nicely, I recommend!
This is a great lunch spot in the Heights offering unique sandwiches, soups and salads. There is a sandwich and salad combo, but if you ask, theyll do a sandwich/soup combo for you...and their soups are really nice. My favorite is the mushroom soup, which is almost like a cream of mushroom. Its delicious. Get here early on weekdays if youre going for lunch because the seating inside is a bit limited. Its also a great spot to sit down and have a quick coffee or pick up a few groceries. They have a great selection of meats and cheeses.
Thought my husband and I were popping in for a cup of coffee...Our server Kevin talked us into what turned out to be a delightful breakfast! Thanks Kevin! We’ll be back!
My favorite place to eat in all of Houston. Food is phenomenally good, drinks are made perfect, really cool atmosphere, and super helpful and nice staff. Seriously this is my favorite place to eat in the whole entire city of Houston. I’ve been to a lot of restaurants here and this is number one for sure. Keep it up!
Had the revival burger and it was “eh”. I prefer fuddruckers more flavor! Potatoes would of been better diced rather than cut in big chunks!
Great spot, highly recommend. Very friendly people.
This is how you do a casual restaurant. Everything about this place is amazing and if I could give above five stars I would. Firstly, the food they serve here is some of the best things a mouth can experience. Ive been going here for around one year and have yet to be disappointed with the quality of the food. Secondly the customer service is on point. Everyone who works here is friendly and always happy to help the customer with any issues they might have. Lastly the selection of meat they sell at the market is always fresh. I can not honestly recommend this place enough. Revival is incredible and I can guarantee you will not be disappointed.
Good southern style food and interesting coffee drinks served with style and friendliness. One downside, to us: super-bright coffee. Very pleasant, dog-friendly patio. Lower prices and smaller portions are nice combination.
I recommend the French toast, but if you’re not a fan of too much sweet then order the syrup/sauces on the side. The French toast has chocolate chips in it, so having the sauces over it was just too much sugar for me. I also ordered an horchata coffee and I was not a big fan. It tasted a bit bitter and had too much cinnamon. Overall, I rate this restaurant 5 stars because of the atmosphere, the cleanliness and the service. Service was excellent!
The food was pretty good and waiters were quick and on point. Lots of seating at tables available and a nice bar setup. I thought it was strange that there were only a couple other groups eating at the restaurant when my group went on a weekend night..!!!
I had their roast beef sandwich. Quite the mild undertaking. No horseradish here. The slaw was crunchy and different. I liked it quite a bit. Definitely a great spot for lunch. Their meat, cold cuts, spices and sauces were very expensive. A trendy venue.
Delicious biscuits!
I love this place for coffee and the fact that they sale cured meat is awesome (I love the butcher shop culture aesthetic). The food is always fresh and filling [portion size is on point] and the breakfast for the area cant be beat. Only reason I cant give five stars is the service. Ive been there 5 times and have only felt welcomed once. The servers seem a bit apathetic which I guess Is cool if your into snobby hipster culture. But for what its vs what Ive experienced i would expect better. Definitely should check it out regardless the interior is gorgeous weathered wood and the outside patio gives you strong houston heights nostalgia of looking out from your own patio on to this green and historic area.
We loved this place 3 years ago. The menu changes left us disappointed yesterday and doubtful we’ll come back. The crispy potatoes were excellent, but the roast beef sandwich was very unsatisfactory. No Ruben or BLT on their menu anymore.
One of my favorite places to go for coffee or a meal. The people are super nice but parking can be a bit of a challenge. I recommend going early if possible or after the lunch crowd.
Food was very good! Had the breakfast tacos with side of fruit. All wonderful. Place is a bit pricey, but frankly in line with the area. My only critique might be may be offering milk along with cream for the coffee and either equal or splenda instead of just stevia, which has its own specific taste. Staff was very friendly. Atmosphere very comfortable and calm. Cool aesthetic. Will try their weekend menu!
Kick ass menu! It changes often, but Im never disappointed. Currently into the steak salad, biscuits, and horchata latte. Staff are always welcoming and friendly. We come here often, and bring our dog!
Houston needs more places like Revival Market, my perfect place would be Revival Market with a bar. The best time to go is for the Saturday breakfast specials they often have, the food and coffee are always top notch. As a bonus as the name would imply it is also a market selling mainly locally sourced products and produce so it is almost like a permanent farmers market.
Does any of the staff taste the side orders? I tried 3 on 2/1 and the best one was tasteless. The other two were awful. The ginger lime slaw only tasted like fish sauce. I would really liked to have been warned it had fish sauce in it. The potato salad - I dont know what it tasted like other than vinegar. Mustard already has vinegar in it. Why would you add apple cider vinegar as well as sherry vinegar? There was some other flavors I could not identify. The potatoes themselves had no flavor. Red potatoes are waxy and do not absorb flavor.I ordered a BLT that would have been good but the bacon was thick and hard...very difficult to chew. If you are going serve thick bacon, it must be crisp. Otherwise it is just hard.
The food is really good. It’s a little over priced but it’s really, really good quality. Every once in a while they have kolaches and they’re amazing.
Max and the rest of the staff here are amazing and so hospitable! I have a handicapped grandmother and they go above and beyond to take care of us every time. All of that is a bonus to the AMAZING food served here at Revival!
What was good about this place:1) Fresh bread2) Good sides. Ginger lime slaw was really delicious. Fresh, delicately sliced but still kept a crunch. Heirloom bean salad was lightly dressed & done well3) Charchuterie plate was a good variety of cured meats & was delicious. Reasonable price $134) Very cute market inside that reminded me of Portland. Assorted fresh breads, jams, produce. Bound to find a gift for a foodie friend.5) Salted caramel pretzel dessert in a cup that was delicious!Did not enjoy:1) $8 shrimp & oyster soup- did not taste good at all...2) $11 for a grilled cheese sandwich that had measly portions of cheese
As someone who has lived in Europe and experienced the decadence of local markets, this is exactly what I would want in Houston. Everything from the food, to the coffee, to the displays is delicate and precise. The staff is well informed about all the products that they have. They can even explain the origin as well. I had no idea that Houston has its own salt! The coffee. Oh the coffee. Im even getting excited thinking about the coffee. Plus the milk they use is local. Revival Market is a slice of heaven.
Have a meal and get some artisan meats from the deli section
Excellent roast beef sandwich. Good potato salad. Really good ice coffee. Had an appetizer composed of figs, charcuterie and maple syrup...damn good. Service is good and friendly, but can be slow when waiting for the check and paying.
Neighborhood bistro with a good ambience. I had a lamp gyro and it was excellent. The coffee was good service good. It is a good place to be on a relaxed weekend.
Creative menu with something for everyone. I ordered the corned beef hash for breakfast. It was flavorful and filled with chunks of brisket. Coffee service includes both old favorites and funky flavors.
Great place, my go to meal is ALWAYS the French toast. I’ve also had the breakfast tostados which are also good.
We were extremely disappointed to order breakfast, with quite an untrained assistant at the till, then 45 minutes later there was still no breakfast. Nothing was mentioned by staff about the delay, and then we called the manager: she came ten minutes later with some mimosas but no breakfast. When we asked, were told there was a backlog, and that it was still coming. Despite there looking not too busy, we reached a full hour and still no sign of the 2 breakfasts we ordered. Would definitely put us off going back, as service was pretty shocking, and we ended up leaving without eating anything.
Met a friend before work for coffee and breakfast. Great service with a nice variety of choices. Some unique options to give Revival Market its own character.
I love the agricole hospitality restaurant group. and its my mission to all their restaurants. i subscribed to their newsletter. revival market was the first one i went to. i sat outside and got a croissandwich and subd the bacon with the house sausage. it was deliciously tasty but the sausage was quite salty. cant wait to go back and try the rest of the menu.
I recently had their buttermilk banana pancakes. Its a good portion that comes with a cultured whip cream. It wasnt too sweet and had a nice fluffy texture. Ham was a bit salty but complements the pancakes. My table was wobbly and caused my coffee to spill but an employee (forgot his name) took the time to clean the coffee and get under the table and fix it. I always have exceptional service here.
Five stars for dining in. Do not get coffee to go. Their process for making coffee is archaic at best. You will be waiting for almost 30 minutes for two coffees to go.
Great experience! We had pretty standard fair (Burger and Chicken Sandwich) Wagyu Burger was just above average i’de say but the chicken sandwich was exceptional(w/sweet pepper salsa). The chunk fries were unique crunchy and moist on the inside. The coffee, I’de say one of the best roaster is the city supplies coffee here. The house Amaya coffee was top notch. They also sell several different variety’s of whole beans at the register. I would definitely like to try other things here.
I used to love this place. The last few times the food was mediocre (at best) and the restaurant felt dirty. So disappointing.
Good hipster food with a Hispanic twist in a rustic atmosphere. A little pricey but totally worth it. I had the Cubano which was fantastic and tried the grilled chicken on a biscuit which did not disappoint. The shrimp po boy left left something to be desired however.
The coffee bar here in is nothing short of amazing. Pricy, but amazing. I thought many if the food items in this market were very high end and of high quality. This isnt your everyday kind of store, but it is lovely for finding the right extra ingredient or two.
DO NOT order the brisket plate. For $12 dollars you get some potato salad and some very thinly sliced brisket with so much fat on it that you will wonder if they look at the food they serve before it. The absolute worst plate of food I have ever witnessed!!!! Coffee is good, skip the sandwiches and whatnot, they are definitely unhealthy to say the least.
Who would have thought in the heart of the heights neighborhood, you can grab fresh cuts of meat from your very own local butcher or enjoy a nice sandwich during lunch anytime of the week. If you are ever in the neighborhood, its worth a visit .Sit down, enjoy a wonderfully plated charcuterie and glass of wine.
Great breakfast spot. With house cured meats, farm fresh eggs and good coffee.
Chicken Sandwhich was perfect! Lunch and atmosphere were lovely. Would highly recommend and will be back again.
The Cold Brew Lemonade is AMAZING!! It is for summer time and I hope it will be around year round. Its a great pick me up and super refreshing. It may sound like it wouldnt work, but trust me they made it with the perfect amount of lemonade to compliment the coffee or vice versa. It works. I am craving one right now. Delish!!!
Revival Market is always excellent! The food is amazing and the service is too! Revival is the perfect brunch and lunch spot!
I visited Revival Market on Wednesday May 23, 2018 at approximately 8:20AM. As I walked I approached the counter and stood behind a lady who was then ordering. Once ken (male with a long sandy beard) finished her order he looked at me and walked to the back. As I was waiting for him to assist me he kept wiping the counters and doing other things. After waiting a few minutes he asked me if I want to order something to go. He didn’t greet me or was kind to me like he had been with the customer in front of me. I question whether the pigmentation of my skin had a role in it. I took it as I wasn’t welcome to eat in the establishment as others were. Someone else ended up assisting me however he kept staring at me while I was standing there waiting to pick up my order. I felt extremely uncomfortable and unwelcome. I would’ve just preferred him tell me he didn’t want to assist me because I was African-American that to ignore me and treat me beneath other customers. When he finally gave me my order he didn’t hand it to me as he did the other customers he slide it across the counter. All in all I wouldn’t recommend Revival Market and I don’t appreciate being discriminated against.
Ordered 2 plain bagels to go for my son after school. Totally stale ( not a problem because I can toast them ). Not plain, was given everything bagels. Worst part $13.00
Just a bad experience! I ordered the soup which came out nearly cold and was very spicy (no mention of that on the menu). To replace that, I ordered the Quinoa burger and Asian Slaw. There was a general smell of rancid oil coming from the burger but I was hungry and continued eating, but the long dark hair on the plate (which had a big chip on the side) did it for me. I wont be back.
Great service! Wheelchair accessible bathrooms made it even better!
Went there for breakfast… Best omelette I’ve ever had… Great VibeLove this place
I made a wonderful lentil and spinach soup today using the delicious Italian sausage from Revival Market. For some reason, Google cropped the photo weird and unless you click on the image, you cant see the whole pot of soup.
It has a tasty atmosphere. I will most definitely dine in again.
Stopped in for lunch, great atmosphere and interesting selections for food and good service. The potatoes with the hamburger were pretty amazing BTW. Im going to come back soon to try the breakfast menu and the biscuits described on the menu sound amazing.
