I came here a few weeks ago to pick up a tambourine; Im experimenting with live instruments in my music.I didnt see a headless tambourine, and bought a traditional one on impulse--not AT ALL the kind that I needed. It was non-refundable. Ah well.The store and the owner are super cool altogether, though, and I would highly recommend them.

I love this store!! Pick any guitar off of the walls there’s and they play and sound amazing! The customer service is outstanding as well. If you’re shopping for an electric, acoustic, or bass I highly recommend Texas Music Emporium…don’t be that person that goes to that other place..lol

WOW!!I have been coming here off and on for many years, because Robert is the only guitar tech who can get my Rickenbacker 4001 Bass to play perfectly. But when I stopped in recently, I met Hugh, who is so friendly and knowledgeable and just an authentic, decent dude. He put a REALLY special bass in my hands and ZERO pressure on me. Great experience compared to those other stores.... but as if that wasnt enough, I met Joel Gregoire! He is a STELLAR guitar player and meeting him in person was a genuine thrill!The only way that you could get more guitar knowledge, experience, passion, and expertise guiding you in an amp or guitar purchase would be by hiring Joe Satriani to personally advise you, Joel is THAT good.This is a VERY special music store, bottom line.

I have known the owner since 1991 and have bought 3 Fender Bass Guitars, 2 Amps and many accessories over the last 10 years. They have a great inventory, great service on setting up your new or preowned guitars, and hospitality is off the hook! If your in the market to purchase Guitars, Drums or professional grade Audio equipment, this is the best place to go in Houston.

Ive been here before but Ive never really talked with the guys. The guys are like the cool uncles you had when you were a kid. Jim gave me a great deal on a guitar and a CLEAN Marshall. Avoid the other big box music store (you know the one) and give these guys a try.

I’ve bought guitars here before, and I’ve brought countless guitars in for work and setups by Robert, the guitar tech. I inquired for a certain PRS guitar that doesn’t come to that shop often, so they took my information down and almost a year later once I’d forgotten about even inquiring for it, Billy called me up to come in and pick which of the two they received Spoke more to me. Straight out of the box! Hugh has gone out of his way to send in special orders to Fender just for me for parts on a guitar in the making, and Robert can perform miracles in the repair room for any guitar. Joel is also super knowledgeable and never pushes or urges me to buy anything, but to simply check out and see a guitar here and there that he thinks I’d like based on my style. The entire staff is there because they love music, and they have a passion for what they do. You can feel that. I’m treated like a personal friend every time I walk in the door whether I’m just stopping in to see what’s on the wall or if I’m spending some bucks on another guitar. I’ll never spend my time or money anywhere else.

I love this place. So kind and knowledgeable.I did a test. Accidental meaning I didnt intend on it but I did it.Took a recent purchase to TME and another recent purchase to the place on the other side of the freeway. Both for set-up.TMEs wizard in the booth spotted issues and told me about them within minutes. Then went through explaining the repairs and solutions.Place across the street bip bam boom done but solved zero issues. As if he had a specific set of things he has to do, no matter what. and nothing outside of that. Kind of paint by numbers procedure.Guitar handed to TME was beat up and in bad shape. Guitar handed to the other place was less than a month old.TME cost was a tad more (like 5%) but it came with new parts, and soldering and mild wood repair. plus tops to where I can go for paint fixes and what to ask for. Other place was just strings and lifting and lowering bridge for intonation issues.End result. TME solved the (much worse) problem and went above and beyond. The place across the street denied any issues at all and swore everything was resolved. When I would strum where the issue is, the store manager cringed, the salesman cringed yet they denied the issue was there at all.As far as any guitar work, TME is the top of the food chain.Thanks guys, youre awesome.

I am super happy with my recent purchase (a Fender Squire) at this discount music center. I highly recommend Texas Music Emporium.They sell Pro audio, Amps, Guitars, Keys, and Music Accessories. Also the guys that run the store are knowledgeable and not pushy. Check em out.

Well its been really nice to go out there and hang out with them rockers great deals on lots of cool guitar and amps and the repair person is awesome hes had set up my rigs and does greatly appreciated set up .

Great shop! Super attentive, knowledgeable, and courteous. I was impressed that most of their guitars seemed to be set up. I wish I had a store as cool as this in North Austin.

Dont buy anything from this place. I lost my job during Covid and they took down my lay away and pocketed 500 dollars they won’t give me any credit as well. I have spent more than 35 k there in 25 years, they arent what they use to be. The in-store experience is more like a depressed radio shack.

Made a few purchases over the years, sales staff has never been pushy and always willing to help answer questions. Its not a huge place so space is limited, but if theyre able to, theyll special order you something they dont have. Prices are generally on par or slightly below average prices of most items. Never had issues.

Best shop in Houston. Staff is knowledgeable and super laid back. Highly recommended for all musical needs.

This is a guitar players guitar shop. When you go to Guitar Center, the walls are full of red SGs and sunburst Strats. Here, they have a wild variety of colors, brands, and pickup configuration.If you need your guitar set up, this place is great as well. Their pricing is great, and they have so much knowledge that they are all happy to share.

I just purchased a new nylon string guitar from Texas Music Emporium. I got a great deal, with on the spot action adjustments on an acoustical guitar. AMAZING!!! These folks know their stuff. I went into this store today knowing what I wanted to buy. I had done my homework and knew what I wanted. I wanted a pretty cheap guitar, but these guys made me feel like I was just as important as someone buying an expensive guitar. They did not try to up sale me, they even asked me to consider another brand with a lower price. Most of all, these guys, were super friendly. Joel is a great guy. Cant wait for my guitar to arrive.

Worst experience Ive ever had at a music store. Ive been a professional musician for 20 years and have never this poor of an experience at a music store. First of all the store is a mess. I had no idea if I was in a music store or a some old guys garage crammed full of boxes and junk. I was testing out Guitar pedals and couldnt decide if a certain pedal was going to work for my situation. I told the salesman I would just get the pedal and if it didnt work I would bring in back. He said ok. Gave me a slight discount (He said $15 over his cost). I used the pedal once and it just wasnt quite what I needed, so I took it back. They said Sorry all sales are final no refunds all we can do is give you store credit. When I informed them that they didnt stock or sell what I needed they basically said thats to bad for me.I explained that they would be loosing a costumer over $15 profit but the owner refused to change his mind. What they did not realize is that I buy thousands of dollars of equipment every year and they lost my business over $15.The final straw for me is when the salesman fussed at my son for how he was sitting on the bar stool at the counter. Seriously?!? So unprofessional. I actually had a worse experience at this store than I did at Guitar Center. How is that possible? My advice is to stay away and find a store with better customer service and a more professional environment.

I just walked in to buy some strings a couple of weeks ago and had never heard of this shop before. Ended up staying and talking to to staff for a while. Very friendly down to earth people. This is just like the guitar shops a lot of us remember from growing up. Extremely knowledgeable and friendly. No need to go to Guitar Center ever again.

Wonderful staff! Very helpful and kind folks! They gave me a discount on an item just because I waited longer than what they felt a customer should wait to checkout. They didnt have to do that, especially because I wasnt angry or frustrated. I have my eye on a couple more items I need I will definitely be coming back to give them my business.

I like reading reviews. It helps me get a feeling for peoples experiences with different places. Im 39 years old and this is the first time Ive felt compelled to write a review ever, for any kind of business. I admit I went to the “big box store” down the road first to look for a guitar for my son. While the selection was impressive the service was horrible. After standing around for 40 min (after receiving a “one sec, be right with you” multiple times from multiple people; and we were 2 out of 5 customers in the store) my son and I bailed. We then went to Texas Music Emporium. Right off the bat there’s a different vibe. Greeted as soon as we came in and was given the option to either look around or asked if they could help; our choice. Polite, respectful, and knowledgeable. Not only did they work with us on the price, but made sure everything was tuned up the correct way. They didn’t know that we’d been to the other store either, so this wasn’t a way to keep us from going back to a competitor. Everyone was nice and friendly. Billy was the rep we dealt with and he was nothing but professional. Even calling them up on the phone later for a few questions after the sale they were eager to help and give advice. My son went from the first store discouraged and left TME with a desire to play; that to me was worth every dime!

Bought a boutique amp today and had a great experience. I told Joel that I was just coming in to kill some time, which usually equates to glares, rude comments, etc. Not the case here. He was kind, professional, and helpful, and ended up giving me a better-than-fair price for an outstanding amp. Half of why I bought the amp was because of the service. Thanks guys.

Took it to TME off a friends recommendation and they saved my guitar. I cant thank them enough. I committed the cardinal sin of leaving my dads guitar on a chair and it slid off, cracked the neck in half and I was devastated. Replacing a guitar is easy. Keeping one that meant a lot to your dad before he passed and to me after? Not so much. Friendly, courteous and couldnt be happier with them. Jim and his crew are the best at what they do! :)

I just had my GE 1937 Martin 000-18 setup at Texas Music Emporium. The action was substantially improved and this service was performed within two hours for a very reasonable price. I live in The Woodlands, and had been driving to west Houston for luthier service for a couple of years now. Jim and the crew at Texas Music were very friendly and courteous and I am now planning on bringing in my other Martins for set-up. This is an outstanding group and I highly recommend them. The store has an excellent selection of guitars and other music supplies. Definitely my go to luthier/guitar service center.

This the best music store in North Houston/Spring (possibly all of Houston). Theyre always cheaper than Guitar Center a.k.a. musical Wal-Mart, and much more professional. They dont try to rush or sell you. I bought a Jazzmaster late in 2014 and it was set up perfectly and cheaper than anywhere else. My next guitar purchase will be from here as well. If you want to be ignored or hassled and lied to, please go to guitar center. If you want to buy good gear, without any bullshit, go to Texas Music Emporium.

Guitar Tech was out on vacation at the GC near here so I came to TME to get a setup done on a new Tele as well as install new strings and a pick-up. Got my guitar back in tip top shape with a great setup, clean install of pickups, and strings that were in-tune and seemed to not even fall out of tune for being freshly installed (guessing Robert, the tech, broke them in a bit for me). Also got a GREAT deal on a Fender case for my guitar. These people are warm and welcoming. Will be coming back for my future guitar needs. Felt weird and wonderful not being guilted or pushed to buy extra warranty coverage at the checkout *cough* Pro Coverage *cough*.

The Music Store That Ate My BRAIN! These guys just keep getting BETTER! Just picked up my G&L ASAT and 77 Les Paul Standard from TME yesterday. Robert did a great (magnificent) job setting these up for me! Im talkin good man! Thanks Robert! I bought the G&L back in 96 from TME when Jim and Hugh were at the old store location (before we all had short grey hair). Ive been dealing with TME since the early 90s.
