My favorite hardware store! Dont be fooled by the appearance from the outside: the store is actually quite large and has an unbelievable amount of stuff inside. The employees are so available, helpful, and knowledgeable that it is much more efficient to shop here than at big box hardware stores. I have visited here several times so far and have always been greeted and offered assistance by an employee right away. And best of all, their prices are competitive.
I can always count on their friendly service and find things, that are hard to find at other places, with none of the crowds or the expansive areas to cover like most of the major chains i have to deal with, they are my neighborhood go to guys. Keep up the good work!
Amazing what they cram into this little store, my first stop for supplies for small home repairs. And unlike the big box stores where you can wander the aisles for what youre looking for, there is always a friendly employee ready to help you here. And quick, in and out.
I only needed 4 nuts for my project, at the cashier the CC machine broke. Instead of going to my car to get change, the lady at the counter paid for my nuts instead. I thought that was very sweet.
Love hitting up this place for our weekend projects. Super helpful staff, well stocked and prices in line with the big-box stores. Give them your money!
Always love to support small local business. Service always great here!
Great service and almost always have what I need. Highly recommend giving these guys a first shot before one the big box stores.
If I could give this place 10 stars I would. Every time I’ve needed something, they have come through. Whether it was a sequence of pipes/connectors to drain a dehumidifier through an external wall... or devising a makeshift cap for a busted pipe during the freezes, these folks go above and beyond to help their customers problem solve.During the freeze of Feb 2021 plumbing supplies were sold out throughout Houston. Nobody had a 3/4” CPVC cap in stock to stop my burst pipe.Mike came up with this creative solution with whatever was in stock to stop my leak until a plumber could be called in. You would never get this level of service at Home Depot or Lowes. And I was in and out of the store in 7 minutes.Thank you so much Mike!
Great place to find what you are looking for I was installing a complete Aircondition system in the area and I had a small list of items that I needed right away and I found the parts I was looking g for here highly recommend them
Always helpful and usually always has what I need.
Great people, very clean and organized, everything you need for older or new construction with a knowledgeable staff to go with it for a reasonable price and no waiting. Awesome
Service was great, friendly staff. The key cutter was a pleasure to have served my need. Professional and Friendly. Was my 1st visit I will be returning.
Very good service one place that all the time have some people to help you
Great staff service and good quality.
Always great service thanks john!
They always have what I need
I love C&D’s Hardware selection and service. Perfect hardware store for whatever you might need. I always find exactly what I need in a hurry. Duane and Diana have created a great experience by going above and beyond with their service!
Always helpful. Good Prices on Razorback shovels and tile chippers.
The staff is always spot on knowledgeable and very very nice......I highly recommend.
C&D never disappoints. I needed chain and a lock this time.
Great store, covers all your needs and superb service!
Good ole neighborhood hardware/gift store. Great employees always greet when enter and ask if help is needed locating something
*Edit* I will keep my initial review at the bottom for my first impression but I need to update since Ive been more now.I will say, they almost always have what I need. However, the women who work in this store have always been rude to me, then when I get to the checkout they.attempt to care a little more. Theres always about 10 employees waiting around to assist someone which is nice however, they always look at me like I cant find it myself or get a little annoyed when I say I dont need a help. The attitude is killing it for me and I hate that.*Original review below*I love C&D Hardware! Theyve always been the most attentive and helpful hardware store. Their straightforward if they dont have a product and will save you time on the phone if you call ahead. In store, you can guarantee they will be there to assist you if you need anything. I like to just walk around and browse. They have some pretty unique items too which are great for gift giving. Highly recommend!
The staff service is good and the product is durable and it has a decent price.
Good staff service and good quality items, durable and quality. Decent prices for the products.
Its a curious place. It has all of the stuff youd find at a hardware store, but its so tightly packed that its more like a jumble sale. I found half of what I was looking for on my own (a proud moment!) and had to be led to the rest of the things on my list. The staff are nice, helpful, and pretty knowledgeable. Its just very Heights-ish. So if you dont like the Heights, it might rub you the wrong way.
Wonderful hidden gem and Houston staple! Great sport for hardware needs as well as gifts. Very unique gift options for all types of individuals. 10/10 would recommend heading in there the next time you need a gift for that person you never know what to get or just something nice for yourself or home. The staff is friendly, welcoming, helpful & beyond kind!
Very helpful service and they had what we needed at a good price.
In a world where the local hardware store is getting drowned out by massive big box retailers I am very appreciative of C&D Hardware. Great place for the little things we needed. Now they have a little bit of a lot of things and when I need a lot of something I need to let them know, which is understandable because its a small local hardware store. They are there to help you and dont make you feel bad about it.I hope it stays around for a long time coming.
Always friendly and dont have to fight the crowd.
C and D was very crowded with no where to park. They are more like a boutique than a hardware store, they even sell toys. Everyone asked me if I needed help. Im someone that likes to browse but its too crowded with locals for that. The ACE on Hempstead is more slow pace and I can take my time. I did find what I wanted, thanks.
Always the most helpful and kind employees. A great gem in The Houston Heights. Love shopping here!!!
This place has everything your weekend project needs and plenty of helpful staff to help you find it. Prices are very competitive as well.
Great service.. friendly service. Better than home depot!
Got glass cut for a picture frame. I always love looking at all the stuff they have for the garden and home. Always get help and it has always been friendly help. Thank You!
My favorite hardware store in the Heights! Terrific service. Great selection. Something for everyone.
All and all its a helpful place.
Nice to have real people helping.
Friendly helpful staff. None of the hassle of the two large home improvement stores. Buy local!
The people are so friendly. The prices are affordable. And they have something for everyone.
This big little store in the heights has everything you need for any project. The availability of the smallest repair part, washer, fitting automotive bolts (sae and metric) is just unbelievable. Also, very friendly. Just found it and now use weekly.
Staff is very friendly great service.
Super friendly and knowledgeable - there is always someone there to help you and someone there who can answer any questions about your project. Ive been going for 17 years and will never go to the big box stores. I can safely say this is my favorite store in Houston - I love this place!
C&D is my go store. They have a little bit of everything household hardware. Even some neat and unique gifts. Very helpful employees
This is a very convenient store with great things in it, however the cashier was ABSOLUTELY RUDE, IGNORANT, AND RACIST! I came in with a stroller with my 4 month old child, there are no shopping carts, and I picked up a water hose, a box of lights and a decorative yard chime and the man refused to let me set my things there. He made me set it on a freezer behind him. He told me he had other customers to service and there was actually no one else there. He was so rude in his delivery and I will never shop here again
They DO NOT enforce social distancing, nor do they require you to wear a mask. Both are asinine decisions that have a larger bearing on the over arcing public health of both employees and consumers alike.I love C&D and am all for shopping local, but I’m not about to put my family’s health as well as my personal health at risk to buy one item from a local store regardless of price or item.
These people lost a customer today. We returned some lawn edging that did not work for us. They were rude and made it very difficult. I really liked this store before; a place to go when you didn’t want to fight the crowds at the big box stores. I spent several hundred dollars here the last few months but never more!
This is a narrow window to view them through, but it is important to me. Their nuts and bolts section equals and maybe exceeds Bearings on Weslayan. If you need an obscure size, they probably have it.
Friedly
They are the best !!! customer service is awesome
This is a hardware store where you can buy anything but clothes. Whatever nail or screw you need, you can find it there.
Very tight quarters, but very hospitable and helpful associates. I sure appreciated the Southern hospitality!
If you cant find it at the Home Depot, chances are, you may find it here, I know I did.
They are so helpful and very knowledgeable and by the way Theo have hard to items. Like, light bulbs for your 1963 jc penny bike headlight.
Its the first time I been there and I was impressed with all the stuff they have
Great service. Helpful knowledgeable staff. Lots of hard to find items. A classic neighborhood hardware store in many ways.
Helpful friendly staff. Added bonus giving local business our business
Medium sized, but very well-equipped hardware store... Most of your Hardware needs will be satisfied here.. When you walk in the door, you are normally greeted by knowledgeable / helpful staff that will quickly lead you to what you need.
C & D Hardware has been serving people bin the Heighrs for decades. Todays experience was just perfect...
Nice very friendly local Hardware
This was my first & will be my LAST time to shop here!Customer Service seems to be an extremely low priority. The employees appeared to be very young, but thats no excuse for one to mutter can I help you?, while not taking their eyes off the phone, held at waist level.Or the attitude, which included multiple eye rolls, when another employee asked if I needed help & I politely requested assistance to find the metric hardware, I was unable to locate. This employee didnt even try to fake interest in that job.By the time I got to checkout, I was ready to never return! Two men, one much older, at the checkout, responded rather poorly, as if I shouldve known which side of the booth to walk to, when Id never been there before nor could I see the register placement, through all the clutter, shelved around it.
As landscape design and construction contractor I find myself frequently needing to run to the hardware store. I’m thankful that C&D Hardware is a locally owned and operated business. Fact is as uncommon as my hardware needs have been from one project to the next, I can’t think of one time I’ve stopped in and didn’t actually find what I need. They literally have everything. I support local business like C&D Hardware.
I love the fact that C&D hardware is conveniently located to serve the Heights neighborhood and that there are plenty of knowledgeable assistants available to help, unlike the big box stores. Having said that, while I have had very good experiences from assistants on most occasions, certain of the sales people seem to have a bit of an attitude issue. On more than one occasion, I was made to feel that I was a bit stupid for asking questions by the tone of their voices. Note to management: That is the main reason I come to your store -- to become educated. So please dont make me feel like an idiot.
Excellent customer service and a good price. Never disappointed when I shop there.
Place has been around for a while. Lots of history here. Employees are helpful. They sell a ton of useful stuff.
If you need to fix ANYTHING around your home, THIS is the go-to place for your hardware needs. The staff know the business and can advise you what you need and how to do it.Ive been coming here once or twice a month for 20 years. Seems like most of the staff has been working here the whole time.Prices are not much higher than the big box home improvement stores.
So glad they are in the Heights! Super helpful. Love to support local businesses - we dont always need to go to big box chains you know!
Always a pleasure. The staff is ever present lending their expertise for any project. Every employee that saw me offered to help. Great selection of products, quite a few oddball parts you wont find at giant retailers
Got just about everything a hardware store should have. Staff is very helpful and friendly. Prices are surprisingly competitive with the Home Depots and Lowes.
Used to have good service but today was awful....no help as the employees were busy staring at the ground and not helping at all...so unlike before. I will just order off of amazon.
The staff is so helpful and attentive. Love their selection of merchandise. Highly recommended that you stop in to shop.
Very rude cashier here! I asked her a question and shrugged her shoulders like she didnt know or cared. Quit if you hate you job! Theres thousands of people who would be more then happy to work right now!
The greatest hardware store in town. Like stepping back in time. The staff is friendly, helpful and knowledgeable. Far more pleasant experience than those big stores, and IF you pay a few pennies more for some items, the experiance alone is worth that and more.
I love this place. The employees are so knowledgeable about EVERYTHING. You get personal assistance. They never rush you and will take the time to problem solve solutions!!!
Like that they have the true hardware things you need, but also gift items. The place is small, but they make good use of the space they have.
I needed replacement washers and O-rings for 75 year old plumbing. This was the right place to come!
First time here after driving by 1000s of time.Nothing fancy but certainly have a lot of products from gifts to chain saws. Will definitely be stopping again for those hard to find items.
These guys know how to do it. Excellent customer service. Everyone is really helpful and fairly knowledgeable on most store items and departments. Give them a try.😉
When you need a hardware man go to a hardware store, this is a hardware store. I got what I was looking for with the help of a hardware store person. Its simple. Thank you CD for my metric screws.
Best place to get personalized help.
I get aggravated when a posted price and the register price are off by more than a few bucks. This place had an $8 differential and the manager just said it was shelved wrong. I cant recommend this hardware store for its pricing discrepancies! This had happened far too many times at c&d hardware and Ive put up with it because I want to support smaller businesses. If you cheat customers when your prices are already higher than big box stores, you dont deserve the business!Old review:Conveniently located in our neck of the woods and filled with just about everything a homeowner needs to do repairs and such. This store feels like a throwback with its hodgepodge gift section. The store is much larger inside than one would guess and they also sell pet supplies. Most of the staff are friendly and prices are reasonable. Except what they charge for mailboxes, you can pay half by going online, saving hundreds. They have a large parking lot.
Hard to find if you approach from the east. The building faces to the west and the northern or street side is nondescript. The sign and parking lot are actually in front of a private residence.I waited 10 minutes for someone to help me make some keys for my nearby business. The cashier called for assistance twice. When someone finally came to the front, they told me they couldnt duplicate my type of keys (for a cardboard baler). I went on to have copies made elsewhere instead.
Lots of stuff and help findings it also
Relatively quiet with lots of help
I had great service at C and D. I walked in looking for a particular sized bolt and the woman I talked to knew exactly where it was. Super helpful
Nice little place if you are in a hurry and dont have time to go to the big store
You can find everything here from getting a key made (not expensive and always works), to nails, dog food, and lots of University of Houston items (Go Coogs!) I love this place and only go to the big box stores for absolute necessities that I cant find here. Great for Christmas decorations and great customer service.
Great Store!!! The staff is so friendly and they actually know what they are talking. They have helped me with many jobs around the house. I love C&D Hardware and would recommend it to anyone in or around the Heights for any hardware needs!!!
I went into C and D on my way home to find a machine screw and Dan was very helpful and accommodating. In the future this will be my first stop for any hardware needs.
Very knowledgeable staff on hand to quickly help you find the item you seek. Great service and prices !
I dont know who these folks are with the bad reviews below. This a great neighborhood place with people who actually know what they are talking about (vs. home depot or lowe). The prices are a little higher but it is definitely worth it as you dont have to drive all the way to home depot. I highly recommend it.
Great store with knowledgeable staff. Lots of fun gift items for all ages. What they dont have, they can probably order for you within a week.
They always have what I need to resolve problems around the house with any advise I might need and a friendly smile. Love this place.
As a female property owner and investor I spend a lot of time shopping at lumber yards and hardware stores. Today I went to C and D for a 2 air vent pipe and a gift for a bridal shower. This unique store has an amazing gift section. So I get to the plumbing aisle and there is a nice employee who refers me to a solar store on 14th street because C and D does not carry 2 pipes. If it was not for the amazing customer service at the cashiers register I would say this store sucked. The women at the front of the store took my gift and wrapped it for me and engaged in niceties. Their customer service is the best. Just dont look for 2 inch pipes here because according to their staff, they dont sell them. I saw pipes as I walked down the aisle but at this point I was over spending more money here.
This is a great neighborhood hardware store. Staff is extremely helpful and will help you get everything you need!
First class assortment of hardware and tools. Good prices too. Ill be back.
Received the best of service. The item that I was looking for the attendant help professionally..#10
