Same with previous reviews. I brought trolling motor there and tried to charge for under warranty parts. Also after being there have more problems than answers. Poor customer service and poor labor.
I don’t do reviews, but felt compelled to write this one for what is probably the most egregious customer service and incompetence I have ever experienced. I took my less than 1 year old trolling motor to G&S as this was the “certified “ minnkota repair facility that my boat dealer used (they don’t any longer as I have recently found out and I understand why). I first took it at the end of March 2021 and was called back after 5 days it was repaired by Sean (the “S” in G & S, he has since left the company) he stated it just needed to be lubed.(G&S charged Minnkota for part repairs under warranty but didn’t do anything). I put the motor back on boat and had same issues immediately. I took back and discussed with Greg (the owner). He said it would be a couple weeks to look at it, which I asked for it to be looked at sooner. After a few days he called and said it need a new mother board and trim component. Had to get from Minnkota. I asked to pay freight bill for 2 day to expedite, he ok’d and gave estimate of $20-25. I picked up 5 days later, he doubled the shipping to $55, then told helper to reduce as he hid in his office. I installed on boat and same issue now also had very loose black belt that runs down shaft. I removed off boat again, called Minnkota for assistance, they said they would discuss with shop. I took motor back again, and Greg was short with me, never apologized for continuous issues and bad repairs. I asked if it could be expedited, he said to my face he was going to let it sit for a week and a half because I called Minnkota. Yes that is true!! Needless to say the conversation did not go well after that and I picked up my motor and left immediately. This shop is run by a very unprofessional owner Greg who lacks empathy and customer service values. The shop lacks expertise and quality control. With one of the owners who also left the company, please be aware of the extended times of repairs, quality of repairs and just flat out dishonesty. Greg may feel because he is overwhelmed with demand he can act like this, but it is surely going to catch up to him!!!
Had what I needed in stock and fairly priced. Good job!
Sean is a first-rate technician that will give you the straight story and usually beats expectations for turn-around. Ive beat my Minnkota Ulterra Riptide up pretty bad a couple times and he had it fixed and ready to go the next day.
Gets the job done fast and right.
My husband pulled his hair out over this darn trolling motor for days at a time. A Pro Guide said he should check out G&S off Lee Rd. this shop is 1st class! Fixed his MinnKota Terrova iPilot in less than 24 hours - did it for less than another nearby shop was going to charge him for their shop diagnostics fee! Drive as far as needed - this is the place to go to - honest, professional and a good looking shop in the back on premise!posted this for my husband: D. Johnson
Great service! They looked for the parts I needed and ensured I had the right ones for the motor. Definitely returning for anything I need. Great attitude.
I called for an estimate to purchase and install a trolling motor from them. I told them I could bring the boat in for them to look at. I was told there would be an $80 charge just to do the estimate whether I bought the trolling motor and install from them or not. This is ludicrous. Basically they can charge me $80 and give me an estimate 5x higher than anyone else just to price me out of it and I would be stuck paying it. Who does that? I was ok with giving them my business if their estimate was a fair market price but an $80 estimate for simply taking a look at a simple install on a skiff is stupid. How would I know their estimated price without automatically losing $80 !?! Im sure theyre probably qualified to do the job but buyer beware this isnt a fair business practice. I will find someone else that will automatically charge me $80 less just by giving me a free estimate.
I called and left a message right after closing and the owner himself called me back first thing the next morning. He was very happy to speak to me, apologetic he missed my call, and was able to help me the same day. He didnt mess around and got me in and out quickly. He also explained everything thoroughly, what he was doing, what needed to be done, and what he did. I will be back for sure! Thank you G&S Trolling motors!
This is the go to place for ALL things Trolling motor. They cant diagnose over the phone, but you will appreciate that in the end. Good guys, just try to have all your model and thrust numbers when you call. They can help, you dont necessarily need a new machine.
Must be too busy for new customers. Can only leave voice mail.Does not answer calls and does not return calls.
Real deal trolling motor experts. After our trolling motor hit a pier piling, the housing looked like Humpty Dumpty. Wires and parts dangling everywhere. Bought a new housing for it and put it all back together but it never worked right again. Took it to our awesome go-to boat guy but he admitted trolling motors were not his thing. Found G & S Trolling Motors online, dropped it off and in less than 24 hours it was fixed, ready to go and what they charged blew me away. Without question, Ill refer anybody to them...
Those guys are some of the best trolling motor repair men in the business
My brand new Minn Kota Ulterra put me down on Lake Conroe late afternoon one Friday and I was scrambling to find a shop that could do OEM authorized repairs. I found G&S and was able to make it just before they closed. Sean was a great help. He said it would be about 2 weeks on the repair since they didnt have the part in stock. I didnt want to be stuck without a trolling motor for 2 weeks, but what else could I do?A week later they called and said my motor was ready. Quick service that got me back on the lake. If any of my other 3 trolling motors give me problems Im going back to G&S!
Best Customer Service! Top Notch Repair Facility!
Horrible customer service! The guy that was there would not even look at my minn kota just told me its going to be $60 plus parts with absalutly no in site into what may be wrong with it. When I asked him how much parts would be he said $120 again without getting up to look at it..... not sure how they have a business with this type of se r vice but I wouldnt recommend them to anyone.. I will stick with gulf Coast trolling motors even if they cost more as the gentleman told me as I walked out the door. I would rather pay double there price and receive good customer service then deal with someone who wouldnt even get out of a chair to look at my motor
Good, and fast service. Thanks for the help
Very knowledgeable and customer friendly
