I’m so grateful for bookstores. I have some N E R D in me. I’m proud to say that. While I really love the independent stores, I also enjoy the big-box stores. Our local Barnes and Noble is just wonderful. I love the selections in books and you can pop into the cafe. They have a nice children’s area, toys, gifts and greeting cards. I pick up Rifle Paper Co. products from here, too!
Kudos to The Birkdale Village Barnes and Noble for not only requiring masks but having staff back up the requirement. I witnessed a customer with a dangling off one ear mask be very politely asked to wear his mask correctly. He asked if he could still buy a book and was told yes but he needed to put on his mask regardless. He did quietly leave, but I applaud the polite but firm way the employee requested the guest follow requirements of the store and put others’ health above that of the almighty dollar.
I mean its a Barnes and Noble. They have books. Like, so many books. They dont always have the best pricing, but I guess if you are a member of their club then you get 40% off new releases and some other discounts. I prefer independant bookstores, but Barnes and Noble probably has whatever youre looking for. Also there is a Starbucks there if thats you jam.
Need to provide free bags to carry your purchases out!! Especially since their prices are much higher than Amazon
I just left and it was such a great experience! Amazing customer service, especially from Tyler and Taylor. I got all the help I needed and was helped by Tyler to be able to order a book I’ve been looking for. Taylor made great conversation while I was at the register. Thank you for all of your hard work!
Very friendly and personable staff. Extremely helpful. I enjoyed my Barnes and Noble experience!! Also grabbed a drink from their Starbucks. Amazing.
Love to go here. So many great books. Personnel are very helpful
Very cute bookstore! I always love Barnes and nobles, but I’m used to small ones. I loved how big this one is! It was a bit crowded- I felt like the amount of shelves and book displays left very little room to move around. Also tons of people there. I do wish there was a few more staff around to answer questions, give recommendations, etc. and sadly books are getting SO expensive.... spent $75 for 4 books!! (With the membership thing, originally was $82, would’ve been much more if I got the book I really wanted that only came in hardcover) If you like reading physical books and are willing to spend some money, this is the perfect place to go. Wish there were a few more chairs open in places other than the cafe, but the cafe was a cute area too!
A great place to meet up and read a good book.
Wonderful food fired pizza. Great value and quality. Awesome service.
We love it here. With bookstores becoming a rare specie in this digital world, its nice to have B&N still thriving and surviving. A wholesome place to read a physical book, a place to hang out with the family and simply get lost in the world of books and magazines. The cafe serving Starbucks is of course, a huge plus!UPDATE: Mask is again required to enter the store. They also have a station by the cafe to drop off books not purchased so that they can sanitized it before putting them back in the shelf.
Great place to pick out a book and enjoy a pumking spice latte
Once again Ive bought several magazines (some from U.K. w/enclosed items or gadgets) makes the cost astronomical comparatively 2 a 50-60 page U.S. printed one. The main reason is it coming from a different country and a # items that are promised are either attached and/or loose, with @ least a 100 page inspirational description magazine, supposedly wrapped within plastic.1-Unfortunely, many people arent honest. They will take the items out, (carry a small sealing machine with a large purse or bag and reseal. Place it back on the shelf and pay only $5 for a digital version of the magazine, since they stole $15 worth of items. Or sell them on e-bay.) This was explained to me by a B & N staff member, when I noticed once, some items missing from a particular issue (8 out of 10). Which sickens me to think individuals believe it is okay to do this.2-My latest visit, was a treat!. After fighting pneumonia and incapacitated for over 6 months, was to go on a 30 mile drive to our nearest B & N to buy some reading materials while recuperating @ home i was wheelchaired in and was given 30-minutes to pick out what I wanted (so the cashier or another staff member would verify all items present). Needless to say, I was flatly refused that service.3-The cashier wouldnt open any, stating if it is on the shelf everything is enclosed and no B & N doesnt take back or exchanged magazines. So, I bought 6- $100 of worthless magazines with missing most or all items as promised.4-B & N has been our favorite bookstore for over 27 years. We spend over $3500 in books & mags a year, easily. Not counting on coffee and snacks. We are avid readers, as our 3 sons, wives & 13 grandkids (for whom we buy books as gifts). We will move over, sadly, to Books-A-Million from now on. This has happened too many times. These mags cost upwards $17.99-$25+ each. Too much, to throw away. Too much for rudeness. Especially when there are no other customers waiting in line behind me.5-For future customers, keep them behind the register and they can be considered, @ time of checkout within staff eyesight. To possibly prevent B & N losing more customers, losing out selling really great card, crafting, sewing, embroidery, etc. type of magazines that far exceed what is printed in the U.S.A.This B & N customer has lost over $500 due to other individuals who feel thievery is acceptable and due to B & Ns policy/actions of not protecting those of us who go to purchase quality, as promised products, but are left holding an empty bag. B & N, they made the sell, so product Sold! Who cares, is their motto, if an issue, that is prevalent and known continues on since 2012. When I first noticed and mentioned the problem. The one answer I was told, maybe we will quit carrying them altogether. Is that the correct direction, when an organization can stand out among its peers?
Every employee I have encountered has been pleasant and friendly. The cafe is open, masks are required the bathrooms are available. Its Barnes and Noble, whats not to like?
Been forever since I been in one, Staff was helpful, Great selection of books and more.. Easy to get lost a good book in there
A predictable shopping experience📚 browsing at our leisure but assistance was available when we were looking for a particular book. Visiting mid afternoon seems to be the best time for us.
Always ready to help and happy to recommend something new.
Decent selection of new nonfiction and fiction.
Decent store, unhelpful and aloof staff
Keep bookstores alive! Buy books here or any other local bookstore.
There was a very rude old lady in front of me in line and the young man, John, who was ringing her up was so kind and patient despite this. He was doing a wonderful job and deserves praise for how well he managed such a rude customer. Keep up the good work, John!
Very friendly & knowledgeable staff. Very well organized by genre.Safety precautions are followed
Took a little while to find the book I wanted. So many books to get. There is a Starbucks inside.
Staff was really helpful and polite.
Great location, very people friendly staff. Soon as I walked in what I was looking for was right there. Was there shopping for a birthday gift for my client. She was having difficulty reading her Bible in which she reads daily. So I thought it would be a great idea to buy her a larger printed King James Version similar to what she has. She loves it and was so happy.
It had some good stuff just over priced.
I am always satisfied with the customer service at this location. However they didnt have 2 books by new Designer, Holly Sims, whos on current TV programs promoting her books. I was pleased to go into the kids corner and found a wonderful corner with all Eric Carle books and toys. I was picking up The Very Hungry Caterpillar for a friends 5 year old son. The whole area made me smile.
Great selection. Adherence to protocols so no seating.
Nice book store.Helpful staff.
I was sitting at the cafe’ and the employee asked me to put my mask on as I was drinking my coffee. How is one to drink coffee and wear a mask at the same time? The latte tasted horrible too. I told the employee it tasted like sugar free and she insisted they didn’t carry sugar free. All I know is she didn’t make it right because I have this particular latte multiple times a week and it tasted horrible.
Has become a loony liberal spot. If youre seeking books by and about politicians who love socialism or if you seek childrens books to indoctrinate them, this is your store
For those of us old-school readers who still like the feel of paper, come touch and feel. They also have a good selection of journals. And with the coffee bar, its a cozy place .
Excelent customer service!
I love it here, I truly hope, as one of the last standing, brick and mortar that they never close it. It’s nice to browser through the books while drinking a coffee or tea from the cafe. The staff is very helpful.
Love taking the grandchildren there...
Great coffee and a great way to spend time with my avid book reader. Great staff, very friendly and helpful.
Fun to be in a good bookstore again
Following all safety procedures and lots of sale items. Would like the layout to be a bit easier to understand and find what you need
Good customer service and they had everything I was looking for
Staff went out of their way to locate book I wanted, always helpful and friendly
Was looking for a particular author & a rep assisted me. We didnt find what i was looking for but he help me find the genre & made great suggestions.
Always time well spent perusing the aisles at the best book store in the area. And now that limiting indoor seating (very well spaced) is back, you can have your Starbucks while you decide. I try to make this a weekly trek, and enjoy it every time.
Thank you Kim for helping me with Susans nook. I will see you soon to buy her a new one.
Forget my vacation book at home and I ran in to grab a book.
It was Barnes and Nobles. But they put away all the seats. Its nice to pick up a book or magazine, etc and be able to sit for 5 minutes, while the family is wandering around doing their thing.
Great place.
I always enjoy going to Barnes and Noble because I love books. I live to hold a book and read. Its relaxing and a good escape everyday life. Everyone here is helpful, friendly and kind. If they dont have a book they will order and have it shipped to your house or you can pick it up. I will continue to enjoy Barnes and Noble for many years.
This store have beautiful books for any kind of customer: adult, young people and children. Peaceful place!
Always a great place for the bibliophile. The coffee is good too!
Very organized & wide range of books. The built in starbucks is not wheelchair accessible.
I love this bookstore. First, the staff is very knowledgeable about books and the store is very organized with a lot of offerings for the space. There is a wide assortment of magazines and journals as well. The Starbucks inside B&N has tasty offerings and there is adequate seating for all. I enjoy each visit at this location
I couldnt believe they had the old school 40s Music on CDs that our mom wanted for her 90th birthday. So glad they were open and we chanced it!
Must wear mask in between sips of coffee and bites of pastry. Makes for a pleasant experience.
Had some great sales
I love Barnes and Noble because they have a high selection of books. I love the cafe when I get a cold drink. They are both friendly and helpful in the bookstore and the cafe.
Love the book selection and starbucks area there, but never enough help on the floor with books.
Very busy B&N with lots of options! Layout of fiction section is currently confusing but know that it wraps around behind itself. Very clean but parking can be a difficult task so be wary before you go!
I ordered an email gift card for a relatives birthday. My bank account was charged. No gift card was ever delivered. These people are obviously thieves. Dont trust them. Customer service never answered my call. I was on hold for over an hour. They dont respond on line either.
This store is one of the best set ups for barnes and noble.
Employee morale is so low, and it shows... place is always semi out of stock of something
Great assistance!$
Back part of it good for kids to read and play. Coffee shop inside for readying and studying. Great staff to help find what your looking for.
Nice va0riety
Love this place. Always willing to go the extra mile to help. My 8 year old loves to read. The young lady helped us find a new level of books for my son. She asked him lots of questions and found things he loved. ❤️
Nice well stocked store right after Christmas. Neat inventory. Helpful staff. Good selection and some great sales.
We enjoy coming to the book store and looking around. Everyone is so helpful. Devin, in Starbucks, is so pleasant. Thank you! You know good customer service is.
Great selection of Books and atmosphere is studious, yet relaxed!!!!
Great selection of any kind of books you want and sitting area is perfect
Great selection of reading material and entertainment, but a lot of the paler staff are unhelpful and will full on ignore a person of color that is standing right in their face -- but will help a person lacking melanin right away. Its quite sickening to witness in the year of 2020.
Barnes and Noble is doing very with experimenting with new layouts and browsing patterns. Really enjoy it there
The young man that helped me locate the book I needed was very pleasant and helpful. The cashier was not engaging and barely pleasant. He was extremely nice to the customers he helped prior to helping me.
Needed a copy of a kids magazine for our grandsons birthday which was 4 days away. Had started to peruse the racks when Melanie asked if I needed assistance. She helped me find the right spot, but the magazine was sold out. She took my name and number and proceeded to go way above and beyond good customer service to track down a copy for me before the big day. Thanks so much! Great customer experience.
If I could give zero stars I would. Zach the employee that checked me out at the store also helped me to come to the decision of never returning to the store. If the appalling nature of this childish employee is the face of the company it shouldnt take long for them to be bakrupt
Usually nice store in years past. Visited to purchase a novel released this past week released by a family friend. Book not in stock which is understandable, associate was rude and not the least bit helpful on giving me a timeframe or any information. Went way out of my to travel to this location, will not return.
I love my Barnes and Noble! Relaxed and found myself leisurely going through the books, picking one and heading to the cafe to get a cafe latte and flat bread pizza! Ahh, comfort!
Great book store in Birkdale Village. They also have a large selection of vinyl records, CDs and other music in other mediums.
Well stocked, floors marked for social distancing, and hand sanitizer available. Associates were helpful and friendly as always.
The best B&N Ive ever gone to. Great central location of the cafe. Very cozy. Great staff there and in the whole store. Friendly and helpful. Love this place!
Great atmosphere and helpful staff. The cafe makes the whole store smell like fresh baked cookies and coffee. It really gets you in the mood to read. Amazing selections of books and music for every genre. The childrens area has a great selection of books and sometimes they have storytime for the kids. Love coming here just to hang out and read.
Barnes and Noble is a nice bookstore. Always seems a little busy which is good but dodging people not so much. Always found what I was looking for. Would recommend.
Our boys love coming here. They have a small train table set up for the kids to play with. The selection of books for kids is phenomenal. I havent been there for books for me. Theres coffee inside too. The store is clean and the associates are friendly and helpful. A lot of the kid books are pricey though.
Great staff! Best customer service at any Barnes N Noble I’ve been too. The staff really care about their customers and put them way above sales. There are many regulars who come almost everyday because it feels like home.
I would have given a higher rating but discovered that the Starbucks inside of the store does not honor the Starbucks app or other offering you receive from a stand alone Starbucks. One of the main reasons why I went to Barnes and Noble on this visit was to go to Starbucks and sit and read. If I had known that the Barnes and Noble Starbucks did not function the same as other Starbucks I would have not gone at all but gone to the Starbucks around the corner and sat and read there.
Didnt have what I was looking for.
Upon entering the facility, out front was very clean and inviting. Staff greeted me with a smile and welcoming words. I was offered help in which I was assisted immediately. The staff and entire environment was comforting and delightful. The Starbucks, buzzing and moving gracefully. The aroma in the air filled my nose and enticed me to sit for awhile and catch up on some much needed alone time. Thus the 5 star rating. I will definitely go back again and again.
Preferred B&N. It has never been overly crowded, and they host plenty of events for young adult readers.I would recommend having patience for the star bucks wing as they seem have a more relaxed approach. All in all, good place for a novel.
The stores Starbucks did not take a Starbucks gift card. The staff was very nice but said it was a Barnes and Noble store serving Starbucks coffee. Staff were nice service was ok this visit. Often understaffed during weekend at and around opening. I will come back because of ambiance and location once served as well as staff seems to do the best they can.
The Barnes and Noble store at Birkdale Village is the best one Ive ever been in. The layout of the store was user friendly. I found what I was looking for and more. The staff were very helpful. A good experience. 👍
We were there for the Harry Potter Lego event. It was really cute. The staff was nice and every kid got to take home a Lego golden snitch. For a free event it was great!
Great Barnes & Noble. Very clean and huge selection of books. They had some great deals and even some Usbone titles in the kids section. This location also has a Starbucks cafe and a large toy section. There is plenty of parking as it is part of the larger Birkdale Village.
