Limped over to the shop after snapping my rear derailleur cable on a long Sunday ride... The guys were amazing and did me a favor fixing it on the spot to get me back on the road. Amazing. Ill be back!

An honest bike shop with knowledgeable staff mostly concerned about getting you set up with what you need instead of selling you what they have (although based on their stock it seems they have most things available).

I recently ordered a Campy wheel set for my Bianchi through Alex at Bicycle Playground. When the wheels came in, I brought my bike in and he got me up and running.What was especially nice, was that while I was waiting for my new wheels to arrive, Alex let me borrow some wheels to keep me on the road since my old wheels were not useable.I highly recommend Alex and Bicycle Playground. When another local bike shops couldn’t find my part and had me on a waiting list for month…so…I decided to give BICYCLE PLAYGROUND HUNTINGTON a try…Alex not only had my part in his warehouse…He and his crew offered not only the same work but replaced an extra part for the same amount the other shop had quoted me for and then he actually had my bike fixed and ready to ride by the end of that very day !!! What can I say, this is the best Bike shop around. Great service, great selection, even better knowledge of bikes. I had a bike built from here plus get all my tune ups and upgrades from here as well. Always treated so great by everyone in the shop when I stop by. There is just a vibe when you walk in that makes you feel welcome each time. They take the time to talk to and listen to the customers and make sure that they are getting exactly what they need and want. I could not be happier with my Venge!! I went to tune up my bike here at Bicycle Playground, Bob the mechanic did a wonderful job with the bike, dialed the shifting and brakes, replaced my axle, trued the wheels, etc. Service is wonderful and I look forwards to getting my bikes serviced here.

Dont do business with this retailer on line. I ordered and paid for a product on 03/07/21 and still have not received it on 03/27/21. I am 2 hours away for this business. I made 5 calls and was lied to several times. I still have not been able to get my product or a refund. I had to call my CC company to get a refund. They are not honest and do not ship your items. Buyer beware. Take your business elsewhere.

Not sure how BP got so many great reviews. Dropped off a rear wheel for a rebuild and they said it would be about a week. 2 weeks later they said it would be ready the following Monday. When I finally went down to pick it up Friday they said they were sorry but they still hasnt got to it. I wish they told me right away they werent interested in the job so I didnt waste my time. I wouldnt recommend buying even a spoke nipple from there...

Since moving from the Bay Area to LI in 2018, I’ve enjoyed great service and reliable care from the wonderful folks at Bicycle Playground. They’ve maintained my SuperSix Evo Di2, as well as do the research to turn my old mtb into a gravel bike (i asked and they were more than up to the challenge). Friendly and informative—this is a wonderful LBS, and I recommend them most highly. One more thing: they stock some really interesting bikes!

Agree with the one star reviews. Have no idea how this shop received so many 5 stars.Other than location it’s a neighborhood shop that is disorganized with horrific customer service. Worst bike shop experience I have personally had ever, & that is not an exaggeration.

Took bikes in for a full service. Stumpy and YT are running great. Got great advise about some upgrades for brakes and cassett, couldnt be happier with the changes. Cassett threw a tooth, they had me in and out in an hour and put in for warranty. Thanks!

A great overall experience at the shop. Trying to get a bike lately has been a headache with recent events and the increased urge to be outside. Alex was truly helpful in sourcing a bike I needed in time for Xmas. He took the time to source and order one. A big thank you to the shop!

Great bike shop, friendly and knowledgeable staff. Saw the bike in stock online so I went there and bought it right on the spot no fuss.

I purchased a specialized pitch from them back in January and they were very helpful. I tried out many bikes that they let me ride in the parking lot. The workers watched me ride away, analyzing how I look on the bike and trusting me to come back with it (which I did obviously). If the bike appeared too small or too large, they brought out another bike for me to try. Very knowledgeable and even give new bike purchasers a free tune up the next time you bring it in which I plan to use this week. They don’t try to oversell you or anything. I got a very good price for my bike. They asked me what I wanted from a bike and provided me with that.

Extremely rude dont waste your time. Spend your money somewhere else.

Stopped by the shop to see the Stumpjumper Expert, they had a red one on the floor I could see and touch, my local shop did not have one available. I did not want to order a pricey item without first seeing it. My LBS said they would match the price. Walking into the shop I met William one of the mechanics. He was very friendly and took his time to walk me through all sorts of options. We priced out building one, we looked at the pros and cons of lower end models basically exhausted all cost concerns. I never felt rushed, his information was accurate, if he was not certain of something he would look it up. Liking the feel of this small shop I decided to order a blue Stumpjumper. Going back 5 days later to to pick-up the new bike, I decided to bring in my Tarmac road bike for new headset bearings. It was then I met Alex, these guys got to working on my Tarmac and had her all dialed in quickly. I also got to met the rest of the crew... these men are stand up genuine folks. I highly recommend this shop and am thrilled with the experience. Thanks Guys hope to see youll on the trails or road.

Im building a ebike and went to cycle USA and they steered me right to bicycle playground with their customer service and Im so glad they did. I met William and he is awesome. It was the first bike shop that didnt tell me my bike was old I looked around they had quite a few all their old bikes they were working on so they know how to talk to people. If you spend good money on the bike its supposed to last you. And mine has aged well. Long story short they helped me right on the spot had my bottom bracket out in no time and off I went to finish my build. Highly recommend A++

I live in the city and would rather come here than my previous bike shop who didnt properly explain anything. I had to continously bring my bike for repairs until I came here and havent experienced the same issues since. Thank you!

This place is awesome! Pulled up this weekend for the first time and it was busy! The gentleman who helped me was polite and extremely knowledgeable! I am a first time customer dropping off my childhood bmx bike to get restored! (Kinda, two tires!). He complimented the bike and said he would get me running before the end of this week!After I left, I called and asked if all the old parts could be saved. ( my brother wants to keep them!) The guy who answered the phone said no problem!!! We are here to help and will make a note to return everything back to me! Super excited to get the bike back but wanted to write a review before to say thanks! I will be recommending them and also bringing in the rest of my bikes!!!

I brought two bikes in with flat tires. Knew one needed a new tire. Was told to check back in 30 minutes. Came back both bikes done! One needed a tire and one just needed air. Could have charged me so much more, nice to support a local small business. Will definitely bring both bikes in to have them tuned up in the fall! Thank you so much!

I’ve known of Bicycle Playground since it opened but never had an opportunity to visit (not in my area). Last Sunday (06/2020) I found myself with a broken cleat 30 miles away from home! Despite the pandemic the shop was open and ready to serve. Alex and the crew were swift, helpful and super nice. Thanks again for being there! Essential business as far as I am concerned! 😄

Had a very unfortunate experience in the store in Huntington today. For our wedding, a good friend of ours, who also happens to be the recent president of the local bike club, give us a gift certificate to the store. I rarely use the store, and prefer to go to Bicycle Planet or brands where the prices are more reasonable and the customer service is better. However, since we had the gift certificate, I thought I’d give them a try again. Unfortunately, they would not honor the gift certificate. When I became insistent that they honor it, as it should be as good as cash and doesn’t matter whether it’s in their system or not, he told me I should lower my voice. I was not yelling, I was just being insistent that they should honor a valid gift certificate. The money has already been spent. Eventually, after about 15 minutes, he found the error, as he was looking under Joseph instead of Joe in their system. I had asked to speak to the manager, he told me he was the manager. At one point my nine month pregnant wife came in from the car, as it was her bike that was getting tuned up, and they started being a little more cooperative. It shouldn’t have taken that to get a reaction and appropriate customer service. It is not the customer’s problem that it is not in their system, it is their problem, but at no point did they acknowledge that and had kept saying they couldn’t honor it. Relieved to get out of their without paying cash, and with my wife’s bike. I know she’ll be glad to ride it again next year. As a director of a large office on Long Island working with many people involved in cycling on Long Island, I won’t be shy about sharing my experience today should people ask advise on where to do their bike shopping. I generally tip the bicycle mechanic $10 or $20 for the tuneup, but after this unfortunate experience, was not going to do anything like that. I’d recommend going to places with better customer service and better pricing such as Bicycle Planet or Brands.08/20 update: I’ve read the owner’s response below and it just reinforces that I will never go back there again. I was not “testy”, as he claims. I’m sure the video shows that. I did get frustrated after asking many times why they wouldn’t just accept a gift certificate that I was handing them, although they were unable to find it in their system. They clearly did not put the customer first and were unapologetic about it when they discovered their mistake. It’s a long three paragraph response from the owner trying not to accept responsibility. I’d have more respect for them and a greater desire to return if they had simply accepted responsibility instead of trying so hard to blame customers. Their responses to other poor reviews are similar. I work in the transportation and cycling industry and this kind of customer service is not good for cycling. I have not been shy about sharing this with my colleagues and friends when asked what store to go to in the area.

Took 2 bikes for an tune up, which understandably takes time. They estimated just about 2 weeks to finish and we left the bikes assuming they would get around to them. 2 and a half weeks go by, and the bikes have gone completely unserviced. No call that the bikes may take longer, or that they arent going to be able to service them. Maybe they forgot about them or maybe there was a tremendous backlog. Either way, giving no warning of increased service time left a bad taste in my mouth. Three stars because they sold my father a good bike, but service experience this time was unprofessional.

If you live on Long Island and are looking to invest in a legit mountain bike this is your shop! Not only do they have a ton of amazing bikes in store but they also do full custom builds completely built to your budget/spec. These guys are super knowledgeable and have a great understanding of the trails on long island and what kind of bike will suit your riding best. One of the guys over there (who is awesome by the way!) is not only a trail builder on long island but also works at a bike park and on top does these great instructional courses. So all in all - great insight from all angles at this shop. (Shout out @flow_lines on instagram and @flowlinesMTB on facebook - Check them out). I learned more from stopping in the shop and chatting with these guys for an hour and a half than the last few months of riding and researching. So stoked they found me the perfect bike, I wouldnt buy from anyone else! I should also mention their warranty policy is second to none.

Great shop with even better customer service. Unlike other shops that try and tell you to either buy a new bike or that you need a crazy amount of work done, these guys understand not everyone has the means to splurge like that. Update:A few months back, I expressed my interest to Alex, Will, and Bob about purchasing a new bike. They were very attentive and listened to every exacting detail that I was looking for. Now Im the proud owner of a beautiful S-works bicycle. Once again, thank you Alex and co. for providing me with exemplary service and advice. If you are in the Huntington area, and in need if anything bike related, this is the place you want to go to. Period.

Brought my road bike in for a tune up. They told me 10 days. Two weeks go by, no contact. I called the shop and got a recording telling me to send an email. Never got a response to my email. Picked up the bike after 2 weeks, they never touched it. I get there is a pandemic and they are busy. But the complete lack of communication is inexcusable.

I’ve been a very happy customer for over 2 years now. Alex and the boys at the shop go over and beyond. I have not only 1 bike but 4 different style bikes ALL from Bicycle Playground. I have to say each one was a total fun experience, and each bike is unique thanks to the guys. This is a fantastic shop. I heard great things from many friends who frequent this shop so I had to check it out. They have an excellent selection of great quality bikes to choose from along with a great selection of helmets and other accessories. The mechanics are very knowledgeable and helpful. I brought my bikes for tune-ups there and, Im very happy with the work they did. I will definitely be back soon.

It’s been about a month since my Salsa Bucksaw purchase. Alex and the guys at the shop are awesome. They made the process extremely easy and built the bike quickly. Alex has answered all my questions and answered my emails in a timely manner, these guys are total professionals. I would highly recommend to anyone who is looking for a local bike shop.

I was up in Huntington visiting my parents.. I live in the mountains of North Carolina and brought my gravel bike up. I recently screwed up my front wheel so I put my older Stans Grail Team front wheel on. When I took a ride it was out of true and was not spinning well which is probably why I changed it out two years ago. Something just felt off. I brought it down to the Bicycle Playground and I told them to just get it in the best condition possible and to change out the bearings if needed. They took out the bearings and said they were not in danger of failing yet but they were obviously getting toward the end of their life but it was not necessary to replace yet. I appreciated their honesty but had them change them out anyway. So for like $70 ( I was expecting it to be closer to $100.00) they put in new bearings, trued-tensioned the spokes and got the wheel working like brand new. Great shop, great people, great pricing and highly reommended. Their shop is well stocked in components, apparel, bikes and obvious experienced staff. It is the type of bike shop you just feel comfortable walking into. Give them a try you wont be disappointed.

I had a wonderful experience purchasing a new ride at Bicycle Playground. The store is located in a great shopping area in Huntington and is perfect for seasoned riders and beginners alike. I bought a bike at Bicycle Playground in October 2013 and it works well. Staff is friendly and very professional, respond to emails. They fixed my flat tyre quickly at a reasonable price too.

BP is an amazing little bike shop. Alex totally revamped my vintage road bike. His knowledge base on all things cycling is very deep. I was so impressed, that my wife and I purchased our Giant Escapes from BP. We are totally happy with our bikes. Alex treats all his customers with respect, regardless if youre buying a $400 bike or a $12,000 bike. I call Alex from time to time with really silly questions, and he always takes the time to answer them. I plan on getting my next gravel bike from BP. The only thing Id say is a downer, is that his store isnt in Queens.(Just kidding) BP is worth the drive!! I recommend BP to everyone.

Took my bike in for a new front derailleur cable. Ended up needed new front derailleur, chain, rear cassette. Totally fine by me, if parts are worn. What I dont like was how they overcharged me for parts. Ended up paying $85 for a 105 11 speed cassette, that goes for 30-40 bucks, paid $40 for an ultegra chain ($25 everywhere else). Paid list price for the derailleur $30....Guess they had to make up for it somewhere else.To top it all off I had the new SRAM eTap priced out.....$2700, when it can be had for $1600 everywhere else.

I had Bicycle Playground upgrade my vintage Eddy Merckx Ti bike with a new Campy group set and Mavic Ksyrium wheels.Alex did a great job, the price was right, and Ive put about 7k miles on the bike without any mechanical issues at all.I highly recommend Bicycle Playgound if youre looking for a shop with friendly, knowledgable staff that will take good care of you and your bike.
