Simply excellent! I frequent here to pick up my comics and graphic novels. There are always great recommendations and I never want to leave empty-handed. The only thing to note it that its shomer shabbos and run by an Orthodox Jew, so don’t expect it to be open on Jewish holidays.

Very Small little comic shop. A nice variety of books and merchandise. Found some nice vintage comics here. The worker was Friendly and helpful. There is a nice little kids book and comic section in the back of the store.

I hopped by for a half hour yesterday.The fact that the owner is so knowledgeable, friendly, and kind is what sets this store apart from any other shop on Long Island. I walked into the store and he was able to give me some wonderful recommendations. While I was making my purchase we had an amazing conversation about comics we had read and the comics industry and I was just so unbelievably happy. I dont really know a lot of people who read comics, let alone the stories Ive been getting into.If you are reading this, thank you for yesterday. Hope I wasnt a bother. And, My Friend that took Me to Escape Pod Comics, for My 1st time there & said Check out the Bathroom because of the AWESOME Original Artwork by Great Artists that have done Signings there, so I included the Photos I took of Escape Pods, COOL, ORIGINAL ARTWORK FILLED, BAThROOM, LOL... BATMANS BATHROOM IF WE WERE TO EVER SEE, THE BATCAVES, BATHROOM!! Such, AWESOMENESS!!!!!

My local comic shop went out of business earlier this year and I was really struggling to find one that would provide both a great selection as well as actually have people that are nice and knowledgeable. I found both at Escape Pod. I literally drive from NJ to get my comics and it is worth every mile driven. Please please please give them a try.

Best comic book shop in New York. This is a great spot to drop in and ask for your favorite book because they probably have it. You will enjoy the festive family friendly atmosphere and the helpful staff. Everyone who reads books should buy some here. If you do not read books they will help you find an appropriate item.

Love how well the owner knows his selection and his confidence making recommendations. My husband is so hard to shop for, but I know he likes graphic novels and comics. The owner asked me which titles hes read, and what TV and movies he likes to watch and what music he listens to. I went home with three books. One was a hit right off the bat but at first glance my husband thought he wouldnt like the other two. Once he actually started reading, he ended up REALLY enjoying all three titles. I just got 2 more books for a belated fathers day gift, and once again the picks were a huge hit. One of these days Ill ask for a recommendation for myself too :)

Made the trip to Long Island when I was in NY and it is the BEST comic shop I’ve ever been to. Now I regularly order from Escape Pod by mail and follow them online for a great perspective on the market. If you know what you want they likely have it. If you are looking for a great new book they have that too. Ask for a suggestion and you’ll be handed one of your new favorite books. Owner is also one of the nicest people you’ll ever meet and truly understands the importance of great service.

Very quaint, but packed full of goodies. Their back room is wall to wall long boxes of mostly $1 books. Found a few gems myself going through them (12 books pay only $10). Also, they have a great kids section that was really well done. Go check them out... Right Now!!

Whoever runs this store sold me a pair of boxes that are complete garbage without a second thought. They arent really a comic shop as much as they are a small bookstore with lots of graphic novels and stuff for kids. Waste of $11 for two boxes of cardboard that are not cut to the right size and would actually damage any comic put into them. Also, the issue I bought was ripped in the back. Keep more modern and interesting comics please.

Incredible Comic Book Shop! The owner goes above and beyond to ensure that new readers become avid readers, and old readers can always find something new. From an outstanding collection to availabilities most stores dont have, this is a must visit comic book shop. Amazing service, in these times a simple message on facebook or email will render an extremely speedy response, and your comics can be mailed in perfect condition. I bought comics for my nephews birthday, and the owner went above and beyond, delievered out of state promptly, and I know I have cemented my status as the cool uncle. Small and comfortable local shop with a wide selection. Knowledgeable and always able to steer a new comic reader to exactly what they dont even know theyd like! First time and last time I walked into this store (before moving) I was treated with the same friendliness and respect. Pro tip: check out the back room for a huge stock of back issues. Found a stack of various Grant Morrison that Ill treasure forever!

This has been our source for comics for 5+ years. They ship our comics to GA, and Menachem is always full of good recommendations. Their childrens selection is every bit as good as their grown-up comics, and they have a massive collection of back issues. They often have signing events with writers and artists, so ask about what they have coming up!

The owner is an incredibly lovely and helpful person and the shop is is very welcoming. They carry a diverse variety of comics, manga, light novels, and a couple of other books as well that are adjacent as well.They also have a kids section so if you have a kiddo that would like to get into comics or manga, theyve have you covered!

This shop has definitely provided some of my favorite comic shopping experiences. Any shop stocks DC, Marvel, and Image books, but this shop is loaded with so many other independent books. Back issues are cheap, and not marked up like so many stores will practice. The manager is also very helpful with finding what youre looking for, recommending something new, and fun to chat with.

This is the best comic book shop on long Island. The main focus of this shop is trades and graphic novels, of which the store is bursting full. The owner is the most knowledgeable person and can easily recommend you anything you want based off what you like. If you set up a hold/pull list you will never miss a new release book and he will likely hold stuff for you that he thinks you will like. Really he goes above and beyond for his customers. There is no need to shop at any other shop.

This guy always finds reasons to be angry at me. Ask him if he has any new DC comics issues and he will tell you that he doesnt carry them anymore because they changed distributors on him and made it too complicated. Weird. Also, ask him about the free comics they advertise they are giving away on Halloween and get yelled at. Great times.

By far my favorite comic book store on Long Island! I do mean comic books. Youll find some other comics-related merchandise, but the focus is certainly on comics. I can go in and talk comics for hours with Menachem, while finding a lot of great titles of mainstream and non-mainstream comics to enjoy reading. Menachem has a great track record for finding titles that will be enjoyed by almost anyone, so if you need recommendations, just ask.There is a range of prices depending on sales and specials, if one is a hold list customer, as well as super affordable back issues at only a dollar a piece. There is some great pop art for sale as well, often from local creators, making Escape Pod a vital part of the local arts community.Fantastic special events have been held at the store, signings, lectures, Free Comic Book Day (with so much available still long after that day, if this isnt your primary store). Menachem is in touch with so many creators in the comics industry, via social media as well as a few who are local, so he gets some great guests to sign at the shop, along with some exclusive items here and there.If you value reading comics over collecting them, then this is definitely the place for you. Its also something of a family business, with members of Menachems family contributing to some amazing window displays.Yeah, the store is closed Friday evenings and Saturdays for religious reasons (some things are more important than capitalism, folks), but has extensive hours all the other days of the week. Ive lived in five states, sometimes in major cities, and you dont find many shops open past seven at night, even on Wednesdays. At Escape Pod, you can often shop and talk shop until nine at night.I first visited the shop the week the store opened and Ive seen it grow in wondrous ways and I look forward to its evolution in the coming years as this store masterfully serves so many needs of folks who read comics.

Its too small for amount of space they fill but they have great taste and serve the community well. Its unfortunate that it can be too crowded and cramped with only a few patrons inside.
