Thanks again Michael for the 1940 Gibson L4 it’s easily one of finest instrument I’ve ever owned! I think I may just start selling off my newer guitars for vintage ones. And you will my first stop! Thanks John
It was a pleasure dealing with Mike from Vintage Guitar. He is courteous and knowledgeable about his business and will get you the best price for your instrument. I highly recommend him.
Kudos for an outstanding setup on my Gibson Custom Shop 59 Les Paul. It far exceeded the average setup I am used to. Michael deep-dives into detail, and has the knowledge, skill set, and does the work! Dont expect a 30 minute change of strings and intonation setup. He does so much more than that and therefore I highly recommend him to beginners, advanced players, and high-end collectors alike.
Michael is such a stand up guy. Very honest and true to point. I think my 335 came with the original strings as well! It was a great experience and my guitar is what I had been looking for for years!Thank you, Michael.Tuned her up and she roars like a Mountain Lion. Decades of Sustain- you were right! A true Player.Chris
Wonderful experience dealing with Michael at Vintage Guitar Gallery of Long Island. Very courteous and prompt, and offers quality vintage instruments. My purchase was shipped across country overnight, packaged well and made it safely.
As a lefty buying a guitar is hard, and I am almost always buying blind online. I recently purchased a vintage Martin D-35 L from Vintage Guitar and I was blown away by what I received, low action, good intonation, no fret buzz, balanced tone -- and the guitar booms. Mike was very helpful, and I am extremely happy with my transaction.
The 1963 J 50 Gibson I purchased from Michael at the Vintage Guitar Gallery of Long Island was an absolutely outstanding great decision...one of those unusual times when you find just the right instrument being sold by an Honorable person. It just isnt a regular thing for me to even write a comment like this but...Michael helped me get a dream guitar. The guitar is beautiful to look at..in structurally perfect condition despite its age.and sounds great...it has that deep sweet vintage mid range and a surprising amount of warmth, depth, and projection.Michaels adverting comments proved utterly accurate...it also came expertly packed and very quickly..and he helped me choose the most sensible way to ship.Im more of a player then a collector but in this case what I got is in such amazing condition that it made me a collector overnight no matter how you define it.Its been irresistible for me to show people I play with, obviously, and others, the instrument and everybodys eyes have popped out a little or a lot .I took it to a lessonI had today and the teacher just said O My, O My,O Mywhen I opened the case. It shipped in the i original case and thats also in fine condition but I bought a modern case for added protection when i take it out to play.I live in Chicago but Im sure if I was in New York Id be In The Vintage Guitar Gallery a lot.Buying something as intimate as an instrument out of town without trying it first requires trust and it was overwhelmingly justified dealing with Vintage Guitar Gallery and Michael. .I guess you can tell Im delighted with the whole situation.Anyway...Michael...Thanks! Tom
I have bought a 1956 Gibson LG1 and a 1970 Gibson ES335 from them. The prices were fantastic and the guitars just perfect (much better deals than one would get in the vintage guitar shops on Manhattan). The owner Michael Rudes is a very competent and reliable dealer. If I buy another vintage guitar it will most likely be from them.
2002 Martin D-17I happened to stumble across this guitar at Vintage Guitar Gallery of Long Island while doing related searches on the internet. I contacted Michael for more information about the guitar and asked him to send additional pictures. After reviewing the pictures I called Michael to negotiate a price and found that he was more than willing to work with me and got a great price. While finalizing the transaction we encountered several glitches; nonetheless, Michael went way above and beyond my expectations in helping me to resolve the issues we encountered. I ordered on Friday afternoon and it arrived the following Wednesday (that includes a weekend and a holiday on Monday). On arrival I found that the delivery service had punched a 2 X 6 inch hole in the back of the shipping carton; however, because of the care with which it had been packed, it arrived in excellent condition. Upon opening the shipping carton I was amazed to find an awesome guitar inside the original Martin hard shell case. This guitar was much better than shown in the pictures or as described. I highly recommend Vintage Guitar Gallery and would rate my experience with Michael (Vintage Guitar Gallery) as 5 STARS +.January 21, 2017 by Dan Pulley – Raleigh, NC
I was very impressed with the service I received from Mike/Vintage Guitars. He was knowledgeable, and got back to me with information quickly. It was a very positive experience.
Michael Rudes is a very good communicator. The Guitar I purchased was exactly as described and I am very happy with the transaction.
To counter the owners response I ordered an amplifier from him in early September 2014 and it was not as described. When I received the amplifier which was almost a month later, the tubes were broken, glass everywhere within the chasis (He didnt even take the tubes out, to ensure they didnt break). It was horribly packaged; literally two pieces of cardboard duct taped over the product. I called him to complain and it was only when I threatened to contact google in response to the broken product that he contacted me back. The communication with this company is horrendous from the get go, even before the purchase, but I trusted the reviews on their website and figured it wasnt a major issue. He offered to send me free tubes (I must mention that in the description for the product, it stated original tubes which were now broken) and a backside for the amp which was missing. I agreed, and trusted them again because of the high ratings on their website, and now another 2-3 months had passed, which ironically is the same amount of time it takes for complaints from google and paypal to run their course. Regardless, by the time I had received everything it was the holiday season and I was gone. I took work in another city for a couple months. When I inspected the amp the microphone jack worked, but from time to time there would be loud feedback-type noise which shouldnt have been occurring. When I called to speak with him, he complained that it had been so long. When I asked to explain my story he responded with simply a BYE! and he hung up the phone. I was surprised that he wouldnt even consider my offer which was to return the amp at nearly half the price that I had purchased it (a restocking fee) AND I would pay shipping fee, since he clearly sold me a defective product for a hefty sum of money, described the product in excellent shape which it wasnt, and then had the audacity to not even hear my complaints. Ive noticed that there are many great reviews on the site, which surprised me, but trust me, DO NOT purchase from this person and do not trust them based solely off their reviews. I am not making this up, this is exactly what took place.
I really enjoyed my transaction with the Vintage Guitar Gallery of Long Island. I recently purchased a Sho~Bud volume pedal from them that was the perfect candidate for a restoration...it was missing a few things, that I so happened to have and could fabricate myself, so, I shot them an offer, and they accepted! Upon receiving it, I was convinced that it had a generous amount of character, but soon discovered, that the DNA/real estate had perfectly preserved the aluminum finish! With a little effort, Ive got a perfectly restored and operating volume pedal! Thanks so much guys for the opportunity to resurrect a not necessarily rare piece, but a neat and historical part of Sho~Bud history! Special thanks to Michael Rudes for the great service, deal and follow-up!Eddie
