Dr. Gilliland and the other employees were professional and efficient. Check in, eye exam, and answers to all my questions about choosing the right glasses and what the costs were with my insurance.
This Target optical has top notch service and assistance!
Loved the doctor.Took almost 2 months to get a call back.
The doctor herself was very nice and kind but Ive been waiting to be fitted for contacts for months. I called several times and my calls were never returned. I will NOT be doing business here anymore.
I absolutely love this place and have been going here for about two years and will continue to get all of my eyewear here
Filed my insurance claim for service, before even providing services to me, which to my knowledge is illegal. Otherwise courteous Doctor and staff.
Staff is always kind, courteous and prompt. Dr. Gilland and Dr. Tipton are excellent. Very attentive and thorough. They always spell out my options and are genuinely caring practitioners. They have made a huge difference in my day to day life by simply taking the care and time to fit me with the best lenses for me. Highly recommend!
I made an appointment and had an eye exam over 6 weeks ago. (Trip 1) After waiting 2 1/2 weeks for trial lenses (Trip 2), I was provided a wrong written prescription (Trip3). Luckily, I caught it before I ordered lenses through Costco (which are literally half the price of target). Since I live in the next city, I asked them to mail me a copy of my prescription. That was 7 days ago. This will be my 4th trip to the store.
I do not get eye exams here, but I do buy glasses here. I have been to other places, and hands-down, this really is a good resource for purchasing eye glasses. Are they perfect, no. Compared to every other place Ive used, Target consistently stands behind their consumer promise and every single person I have come into contact with has been very nice. I have NEVER had an issue with customer service. Prices are fair, too.
I was in Target shopping and walked by the optical Eyewear and saw a few frames I liked decided to make an appointment, they were friendly in the beginning until things went bad, This all took place the weekend before Motherday. I give them a frame of my own before purchasing one of theirs first, well lord and behold they broke my frame replaced it with a choice of theirs in the store and was suppose to refund my insurance benefits and they didnt. Yes they gave me my full refund but as of today when calling the manager back to let her know my benefits were not credited back she called to check and they were not put back. I cant purchase using my insurance for 34 days, waisted benefits for 2020 all because the manager didnt do her job. I will never use Target for optical ever again. Management is 👎.
The only reason Im not giving them 1 star is because I liked the doctor. She was really sweet and knew what she was doing. I got my exam done and picked out a pair of glasses. The employees said they would be ready in 7-10 days but to expect it to be the full 10 because of Corona, which is fine. I waited my 10 days and heard nothing. I called them and they said there had been a delay and they had only gotten two shipments that week but before the following Friday I should get them. I called again during the following week to check in and they had no information on it. I tried again on Friday but they didnt answer my calls. I called again Saturday and they said they tried to reach me the day before but werent able which was funny because I had my phone with me all day. They said the box got lost and they had to replace the order but for sure I should have it by the following Friday if not before. I called again on Wednesday and they didnt answer my calls. When I hadnt heard anything again Friday I went down to their store and got my money back. They checked again for me and they hadnt come in yet. I cant wait 3 and a half weeks for my glasses when I work at a computer every day and get severe migraines. I needed up purchasing from Zenni where I got 2 pairs of glasses for a third of the price of the one pair I had ordered at Target. It also would have been nice if the employees had been wearing masks and taking care to clean the glasses after customers had tried them on.
This is the worst eye center I have ever been too!!! I paid self pay for my eye exam was told my contacts were included and now they are charging me over $150. I would not recommend this place what so ever!!! And the staff is terrible with communication.
Absolutely wonderful experience. Dr. Gilliland ia wonderful, and the optical staff bent over backwards to help me (No vision insurance, blind as bat, etc.). I would give more than 5 stars if I could. Highly recommend!
Bought glasses from here last year with an existing prescription and had a good experience. Set up an appointment this year for an eye exam and they called me earlier that day to let me know that I’d have a higher than expected copay due to my insurance. I appreciated them letting me know ahead of time instead of letting me find out at the register.
You couldnt ask for a better group of ladies to take care of you. The appointment was quick but thourough and they made finding a pair of glasses and the fitting so easy! I highly recommend this as a place to choose for you eye care needs. Awesome and sweet staff!!
It pains me to write this because I genuinely love seeing Dr. Gilliland. The new staff however is a different story. I have been a patient there for years and have brought my children and husband there to be seen as well. The old staff was great and were always thorough when I had questions about my insurance or if something had changed I was notified when I checked in and changes were reviewed PRIOR to an exam or treatment. Fast forward to today- when I checked in they verified who my insurance was through and told me we will get you back soon, good enough for me. Approximately 30 minutes after my arrival (10-15 minutes after the patient before me walked out of the exam room) the ladies up front finally took my chart to the back to let Dr. Gilliland know I was there and ready to be seen. Dr. Gilliland came and got me from the waiting area within 2-3 minutes of receiving my chart. My time spent with Dr. Gilliland was pleasant, she answered all of my questions, addressed my concerns and was a true patient advocate (can I mention again how much I enjoy having Dr. Gilliland as my optometrist). Once my exam was complete, Dr. Gilliland escorted me back up front where the business assistant told me that I owed over $100 for my exam. When I questioned the cost I was told it was because cost exceeded my deductible and was provided with my deductibles. I work in healthcare so I understand co-pays but $100 more than expected was a lot. I walk around to look at glasses let the assistant know I am ready to go over costs and be fitted in which she directed me to have a seat near one of the computers. While I waited I pulled up my insurance on my phone to see that I had been charged out of network cost which I verified with the assistant when she sat down next to me. When I asked if they were in network her response was no do you still want glasses in a condescending tone. I told her that I would still like a price so that I was informed but would also look elsewhere to see if I found anything I liked better. The assistants demeanor, tone, body language, and verbiage were rude, dishonest, and misleading. I really hope that Dr. Gilliland can convince the assistant that used to be there to come back or find someone like her. The patient experience was so far from what I am accustomed to in this office. I hate to say but I am looking at taking my business elsewhere not because of my services, or even the out of network costs, but because of the experience that was created for me and what I would now expect for myself and family in future appointments. Dr. Gillilan please find a new business team to run your front desk, I dont want to leave your office.
Always found Target optical convient and customer service very good until now. Cancelled appointment due to inabity to communicate with new staff. They did not listen, did not answer questions and were not welcoming at all.
Extremely disappointed. Got canceled on 15 min before my appointment. Made an appointment for the next day. Staff is extremely unfriendly and would not even let me 3 year old come in the room. Unprofessional just very disappointed, Since I picked this place for the good reviews.
Extremely upsettingIn march 2019 i went in for a checkup and paid for my prescription out of pocket since i have no vision insurance, ordered my glasses and got migraines way more frequently than i had without any glasses at all and my primary care provider could not figure out the cause. I ended up paying several medical bills because of it. Two days ago i got the worst headache Id had in my life and lost sight in one eye. I booked an emergency appointment with a real eye doctor (an ophthalmologist) and after a full medical exam he tested the lenses on my glasses and then did an exam my eyesight. Turned out the prescription I had been given at target optical was literally either somebody elses prescription or a bunch of random numbers and NONE of the six numbers were even CLOSE to eachother. This put so much strain on my right eye that it pulled a muscle and could no longer focus itself at all and hurt to move. My vision in that eye did not return until eyedrops that relaxed the muscles were put in, and that prescription may have permanently damaged my eye. Her mistake literally cost me hundreds of dollars and when i went to ask her about the phony prescription the receptionist tried to tell me that the false prescription she had given me and the real one from my ophthalmologist were essentially the same but written in a different style when i told her that they were in the exact same format she then gave me a bunch of math to explain the translation that when worked out still didnt match up. I asked to speak to Dr. Cara Gilliland, the one who wrote the bad prescription and was told to wait. After an hour had passed the secretary came up and said that if i wanted to even speak with her i would have to make an appointment that i will likely have to pay for out of pocket :( I will be looking into legal action and am very disappointed in target for allowing this kind of medical negligence in their store
They never answer their phone, weve called for 2 days straight without an answer? What is the issue. Very unprofessional for one when were basically calling to see if our contacts are in after waiting almost 2 weeks.
I brought them a prescription from my doc, and they filled it with the care, attention to detail and friendly service as if they had done everything in-house.
I have been wearing glasses for over 10 years and I have never had a problem with the results of an eye exam until I came here to this Target Optical. Dr. Cara Gilliland was nice during my eye exam and told me my prescription was 3 or 4 steps worse that my last prescription. I got a trial pair of contacts and ordered new glasses. My eyes constantly felt like they were fighting to focus and I could see clearer with my right eye than I could my left, while wearing the trial contacts, but I was told that there is just an adjustment period and it should get better. So I waited until my glasses arrived. Tried on my glasses in store and it looked beyond crazy. Everything was warped. My phone screen looked rounded out towards me instead of flat, the doors looked curved, if I looked down at the ground while walking it would look like I was stepping in a mound and my foot would just drop because the ground was still flat, and I was told again that my eyes just needed to adjust. I went back later that same day and told them there was something wrong with them. They ordered me a new prescription of glasses without even re-examining me. They also ordered another pair of trial contacts since they thought the first pair was drying my eyes out and that’s why I was having issues. So I had to wait for those to arrive. I went to pick up the new glasses/trial contacts and they still weren’t right and demanded a reexamination. Dr. Gilliland did my exam and said it wasn’t that far off from the first exam and that my “brain was just lazy”, she wasn’t changing my glasses prescription and that I needed to give the glasses a week to adjust. So I tried wearing them for a week and everything remained warped and it was really hard to wear them and after getting a bad migraine on day 6 I finally just asked her for a refund. Target refunded my glasses but Dr. Gilliland refused to refund me because she said it was “services rendered” and that she would write a current prescription for the eye exam I got last year at Walmart if I was happy with that. I had to write a letter to my insurance to be approved to go somewhere else. I have since gone to Lensecrafters and feel much more comfortable with the prescription from there. I wanted to wait until I had gotten another eye exam by a different doctor before writing this post to confirm that Dr. Gilliland’s eye exam was wrong. I’m not sure how this shows so highly rated unless it’s just for the store and not for the Dr. Gilliland.
Good independent optometrist but glasses are expensive and one of the associates is questionable if they are sober.
Fast and friendly.
