The place is huge and has great stuff, just didnt have any audio/video equipment for making videos or podcast. Lots and lots of cool guitars and drums, I stopped by after I been working outside all day was kinda dirty and had old clothes on and the employees there didnt seem to wanna help, I had to ask the main desk as I was leaving if they carried audio/video equipment and where it would be located, he said we dont really carry that kind of stuff and he got on the computer and we Google a few locations that might have some, i appreciate him taking time to help though.
I took my daughter in here to buy her some new guitar strings. I guess stock strings on cheap guitars just break easily.The associate was quick to ask us if we needed help, he was very knowledgeable of the products and choices and set us up with a comprehensive purchase recommendation within a few minutes.The store was had an extensive selection of products and hands-on displays.All-and-all I was very pleased.
CSM helped me find the right strings. Good service. Must be commissioned because he stayed with me from asking if I need to help to checking me out. Was nice personal touch, however, I didnt feel like I could browse after he helped me. Also understandable bco the value of much of the merch there.
Guitar Center always loved going in there whenever I get a chance to or Im out one stop in and see whats new other than viewing them online will return again got a bass guitar worked on and the other Guitar Center I had to restring my guitar out on 119th I believe that Overland Park location but both locations are very nice love the atmosphere Love The Helpful staff will always return again
Ive got mixed feelings about this place. Either the staff is knowledgeable and friendly or their stocked inventory makes it worth the $...but rarely do you experience both here on any stop through.
I came in with my fathers 70-year-old Martin guitar to have it restrung because I want to write music with it again. Jeremy was phenomenal He strung it right there It didnt take very long at all. He even found out how much the guitar was worth for me although Im not going to sell it. He also led me to Chris Motley who helped me find a wonderful case which isnt easy to do with such a small guitar .He found me the only case that would have fit my guitar, as my case with all the duct tape on it would no longer keep my guitar in. He also helped me look at pianos which my husband is going to be buying at the end of the summer. That was awesome and while we were doing that a wonderful young man who works there whose name I do not know watched my guitar. He was playing it and he just loved it. When we came out from the pianos because the new case has backpack straps he had it on his back and he told me he just didnt want to leave it because somebody might steal it. This is the most awesome place if you need anything for guitars, pianos, drums lessons, instruments. This is the place to come. If I could give you 10 stars I would. You guys were so awesome. Thank you thank you thank you!
Guitar centers inventory and selection has made it easy for me to make this my go-to place for music equipment. Staff is very friendly, and allows you to test instruments with no cost. You may want to do some due diligence before your purchase, however. There have been multiple times where I went to purchase equipment I was new to, and was sold the wrong cord for the device. This is something that the employees should catch, so I wouldnt have to make return visits. Its not fun spending over $500 in store and you come home to nothing because you were sold the incorrect product. The manager made up to these mistakes by comping my replacement purchase, however. They definitely take care of their customers and thats why I will be returning.
Really nice and helpful workers. They know everything from distortion peddles to drums. Workers are very inclusive too
Needed a speaker mic system for a military appreciation weekend event. The staff here was super helpful and got me a system way more powerful then what was needed for cheaper then the cost of hiring a dj mobile system. They helped me do a DYI mobile dj package deal for an event that went off great!!!
I brought my guitar in for a restring last Saturday and waited about 20 min before anyone helped me at the counter. A few employees walked by and let me know the tech would be with me soon. I didnt give it much thought, eventually Jearme helped me and was nice He said he would call me when my guitar was ready. A few days went by, so I called on Tuesday. It wasnt done but it should be soon. Cool no problem. I call Thursday, still not ready. Employee said thats weird it doesnt take that long for just a restring. Called Friday, still not ready but our tech will call you when its done. A week had come and gone, mind you this was a restring, not a setup, not a repair, a restring on a very clean guitar. Most places have it done in a half hour. Still hadnt received a call so I figured Id just go back and do it myself. I get there, wait 10 minutes before being helped by one employee, who passed me off to another, who pointed out Jearme from across the store. I walk up, he says your guitar is done! Guess he forgot to call. I asked him if it normally takes a week to restring a guitar and he said hes leaving in a month so everyone is bringing their stuff into repair before he leaves. According to him after he leaves, theres no telling who might work on your guitar and they might not do a good job. Bravo, way to score repeat business. Ill be going to a local shop for my future needs. If you really need to go to Guitar Center go to the one in overland park. The extra time driving there would be offset by not having to wait around for 20 minutes for someone to help you like at the independence location. Really disappointed in you guys. No hard feelings, I just hope you can improve enough so someone else doesnt have my experience.
Will not buy from again and sold me a used amp head saying it was new till I opened the box . It was packed with paper, missing the manual, not wrapped in plastic bag and missing the foot switch that comes with the amp and did not care. I will do my business somewhere else and very poor customer service after spending $2,000.00 with them in the last two months .
Lots of customers no it much store help . As a first time buyer I had to decipher things in my own and hope for the best . Then stand in checkout line for 30 plus minutes .
My granddaughter takes guitar lessons here. I havent ever been inside but she loves it.

Ive been happy with my purchases. Their biggest issue is despite the employees coming up asking if we need help, they tend to disappear quickly, so when I do have a question, I have to search around again. Their selection is limited, but it is a small store and things can be shipped in to store. They just need to dial in their help.
I had a great wonderful experience I had to play Sunday here then in Florida than Kentucky and I previously got my guitar action adjusted and the intonation, but they must have measured it by the gauge 9 strings so when I change the gauge 8 it changed my whole sound, in the streets were too low they were rubbing against the fretboard, so I rushed to guitar center luckily they were open I didnt even know they were open on Sundays. Now I have less than 1 hour to hit the stage, get my guitar fixed get it adjusted and head to the gig, luckily to my friend who I bought amps and future guitars from motley I think thats his name I hope its spelling it right he took time out to specifically help me and sold me the right tool what a healthy was to me Big ups to you my man anything I buy from guitar center Im coming directly to you and only you much love, Barry Williams, man forget five stars I give you 20 Stars my man.
Bought a piece of gear that I needed everyday this week for shows.It malfunctioned so I brought it back the day after to get another unit. Instead of giving an in store credit, they wanted to refund on the card and then buy another unit on the card.All of that would be fine if the card had twice the amount of the unit on it. But instead the card was declined because it’s waiting on the return to post - meaning I’m without the gear that I need until this return posts to my account.In store credit would have been such a simple solution to this problem. Either the staff messed this up or the GC policy on returns is ridiculous.I’ll be taking my money elsewhere like I should have done from the beginning.

Solid selection of used gear. Staff is very knowledgeable and listens to what youre interested in instead of trying to upsell you for their commission. Shout out to Jesper in the bass section. Didnt have what I needed in stock but it shipped to my house next day no extra charge. Not to be a Karen but I have not been this impressed with a store in a long time
Guitar Center, I do not like having to complain publicly, but I have been into my local store more times than I can count to try to fix my order, and actually recieve the items I have paid for. Guitar Center WOULD NOT allow me to buy items online. Would not allow me to buy the item I want in storeThe manager at the store in Independence Missouri told me 1 thing when I talked to him in store, and I just called him and spoke to him. He did NOT help.I have called corporate multiple times. I have sent emails.Everything I have stated is true, and honestly I can prove that Guitar Center does not care about their customers.Guitar Center, I regret spending my money, taking my time to buy items on sale, and using the coupons you send to me because I must be some kind of Loyal Customer.Everytime I speak with someone on the phone, I feel like I am talked down at, and that its my fault all this happened.And honestly, I feel this post will probably get deleted because Guitar Center will report it. I have not said anything that is not true.

Always a great time. A little suggestion though, Id hire a more musically diverse sales team. It was very hard to get guitar suggestions (brand vs brand, active pickups vs passive pickups, 7 string vs 6 string, etc) for the style of music I play from one of the salesmen because they didnt know much about metal. Other than that, I love Guitar Center!
I give this particular location a solid 5. The other night, one of the managers (Blaine) sold me a mini Jackson for my daughter and was all around professional the entire time. They didn’t have anymore mini guitar bags so Blaine ordered one for me then went in the back, found bubble wrap and neatly wrapped it for the journey home.I realize everyone has a different experience at places but if you’re looking for music equipment, the Independence location truly has the better staff out of any of the locations in or close to the metro area.Everything is better organized there as well.

I came in the store two associates walked right past me no greeting. Then I waited in the drum area for awhile no help to be found and again two associates walked right past me. Then when ready to check out I literally waited in line while the associate had a conversation, finished then finally asked if I was ready. Not a great experience.

While Guitar Center continues solving issues through exceptional customer service, they still have problems getting new guitars into customers hands. A slow boat from China ACTUALLY delivered a nice Chibson faster that GC. Im still waiting on my Epiphone Emperor Swingster to arrive. It took almost 4 months to get my new Jackson soloist. In fairness, I knew in advance BOTH items were backordered when I placed my order.

The past two visits I have had at this location in regard to finding educational resources (books) I was always told “we don’t have that book” and I would look in the section on my own and I would find EXACTLY what I was looking for. I think the customer service is non-chialant and not great at all & after finding what I searched for on my own I am always told “well we don’t know what books are in there” but then y’all try to still sell music lessons. How do y’all sell and promote music lessons, but can’t even help me find a book.
This guitar center Kinda made 1.5 times on my sqiure telecaster limited edition but I guess $80 is ok I guess too not really the guitar cost me $229 2 months ago then I should of at least got $120 for it then they up sold me the $29.99 2 years warranty on it too
Over the years I have purchased many instruments etc and have always been satisfied with service,but yesterday I purchased a pearl cajon still packaged,when I returned home one hour from store I noticed a crack in one corner,on returning to the store today they would not work with me,I had my money returned,no bloody cajon,thanks a bunch.

They had a fair selection of books to choose from but the selection of mandolin strings in store was not quite what Id hoped. I understand its not nearly as popular as guitar so I dont take off too many points for that.

The only reason why this is two stars and not one is because of the good costumer service otherwise one star would be the appropriate rating. So I looked online to order a keyboard at home and the website stated “ready for pickup today” so I put my order in and I drove over 20 minutes to the store and waited another hour in the parking lot for confirmation until I went inside the store, inside I was told that my order would be ready Monday and not same day which there website was very dishonest about. I am very upset over this false advertisement and feel this is fraudulent.

Its more then just guitars 🎸I took my daughter for clarinet reeds and the staff knew exactly where they were and the difference in size (which there is apparently). They were welcoming and understanding to someone who had no idea what the were talking about!

I just purchased a Epiphone acoustic electric guitar in Independence about 7 oclock and drove straight home and plugged it up and no sound would come from it im a bit disappointed in the store i was not informed it was damaged equipment

I was very displeased with this place. They have a combative manager who does not belong in the position he holds with the company. His response to my dislike to wearing a facemask was unforgettable. Now that my wife and I have spent literally THOUSANDS of dollars here, we wont be spending another dime with this company. Poor management and poor service is what they have!

Love love this place. so full of energy as soon as you walk through the door. it just made you want to stay and look around or rock out. i dont play guitar, my 16 yr old does, i play violin but i wanted to grab a guitar or jump on those drums and jam.
Ordered a keyboard piano online then it got canceled because it turns out they stoped making it and there is a new one so went to go buy it and they told me I should get one for sure and it will ship out around April 22 just got an email saying it’s on back order and they guy on the phone said I won’t get it until around holiday season if I didn’t order when I did and turns out I’m still not gonna get one even when I did order it that day was pulled around just because some one told me I’d get one if I ordered it that day got my hopes up for nothing

Whatever you do, do not spend your money here. I ordered a couple of items & received the wrong ones. Called customer service & they would not send the correct replacement due to company policy. Pretty sour experience & will never spend my money here again.

Used to be able to get decent service when making a purchase at a music shop. Shocked at how surly and dismissive these kids act when I am trying to buy a guitar they would rather do anything else besides accommodate me and answer my questions. I will take my business elsewhere from now on! Rude, rude, rude!!
