The jalapeño and habanero brats were fantastic. Perfect balance of hotness I was looking for. Well done and at extremely reasonable prices as well. The shop may be small but the flavor is big, and they offer not only a vast array of different meats, but a few other options as well - even T-shirts.

This is my favorite place to get meat in Iowa City. I picked up these 30 day dry aged steaks over the weekend and they were incredible. I rubbed them with some smoked course salt, mushroom salt, mixed peppercorns, garlic powder, and a smidge of smoked paprika. Then seared and basted with butter and mushrooms. I’d definitely buy them again and love the addition of this place to the community.

Best place to get brats in the area. The Thursday night ribs are great, as are all the other meats we have gotten. Prices are reasonable for the high quality you get.Update: the bleu cheese beer brats are incredible, wish they always had them.

My husband purchased fresh oysters for Christmas Eve soup. The store was nearing closing time and my husband was greeted with a smile and was very pleased with finding the delicious oysters. We’ll be back!

With my dad running a butcher shop for 39 years, and us processing all of our own deer, pork, and beef for my entire lifetime, Im always happy to check out a local spot. This place does not disappoint! Phenomenal service, the kind most people are most likely unaccustomed in this day and age, and even better products. Great selection that changes daily, great staples, an assortment of delicious and ever changing brats, steaks, sausages, etc, and hands down the best natural casing wieners Ive ever had. I bought brats,summer sausage and cottage bacon. Its all great. I purchased some smoked pork chops. They are out of this world. Thomas care about their customers. The service you receive is that of a home town feel. Youll want to go back soon. If your in need of quality products with service this is your place. The varieties of brats kick @#$%. Amazing brauts, local cured meats, and unbeatable aged steak. Thomas is an ideal old time butcher. Whe I want any sort of specialty meat this is the butcher I check. Leaps and bounds ahead of HyVee or Fareway.

Excellent customer service!This is a pretty new shop/location and I just went in for the first time on 6/19/20. Everyone was friendly and attentive and they have a broad selection of great looking cuts.I’m looking forward to trying their house made Italian sausage this week! Their pork shoulder was priced about 30% less than the local chain supermarket too.Update, 4/27/21:This is now my go-to for any sort of meat in the area. Their steak burgers are great, hot dogs are better than any hot dog really has a right to be, and the brats and steaks are always excellent.They’ve recently started doing hot meals in the evenings. Things like smoked brisket mac and cheese, or whole smoked chickens ready to eat. I haven’t had a chance to try anything like that from them yet but I will be soon!

Stand alone quality and attention to detail. Staff will slice or prep any piece of meat you’re looking for .The grind their own sausage and their ground beef is w/ out question the best I’ve ever purchased........worth you effort if only for that!They fill a Niche in the community that was w/o a true meat market

Was very excited to try this place out and it did not disappoint! A lot of great cuts of meat with very friendly service. I was very indecisive but they allowed me to take my time. My steaks were delicious! Will definitely be back.

We originally drive out to Cedar Rapids because we were told they had the best butchers. We accidentally found this gem looking for the organic grocer. So, happy with the quality, presentation and friendliness. And, thank goodness he’s close.

I really enjoyed visiting. They source their meat locally, and make their own brats. They also have more options arriving in the fall.

The staff is friendly and quick with a great recommendation. The meat is fresh, delicious and unlike anything available at the supermarket. While you are there, be sure to try the salsa roja- it is fabulous.Even our dog Madge loved the pig ear from Thoma’s!
