I sent in my shoes for what seemed like an easy repair that would take two weeks maximum. After several calls, most of which unanswered, and 6 weeks later I decided it was not worth the hassle. Someone please help this man with his business. It is an old Iowa City art form that is a dying one and the man in charge needs people willing to learn.

I’m only giving 1 star because there’s not an option for anything less. My husband left 2 pairs of shoes 8 weeks ago and was told it would take 4-6 weeks to finish both but to call if we hadn’t heard from him. Why are you planning on not calling us? I called last week to check on them and was told I couldn’t get an update without the ticket number. This was after I had called the day before and left a voicemail that was ignored. My husband called today and the owner was screening the calls and only answered after her started leaving a voicemail the second time. He took the ticket number and then had no idea what the shoes were and took so long to look for them we got to the shop before he came back to the phone. My husband finally got his shoes from underneath a pile of shoes that had probably been there for 6 months: untouched. To make matters worse, he can’t find the second pair. The man is unprofessional, doesn’t actually open when his posted hours are, doesn’t communicate, and doesn’t actually work. The one time I spoke to him I was given a huge attitude and I vowed I would never do business with such an individual again. Do not ever bring shoes here. Hopefully he’ll go out of business soon since he clearly can’t handle it

Roger is pleasant enough but sadly incapable of completing work. His store is an organizational hazard - items strewn everywhere. He had my shoes for three weeks. I phoned after 1.5 weeks, as he suggested, and after looking around a good while, with me on the phone giving a description, he found them. He said he “hadn’t got to them yet”, but would work on them in the next day or two. I phoned 3 more times over the next 1.5 weeks and each time he said he was “working on them now”. After three weeks I understood the situation and went to collect them. They were untouched. I think he loves to potter around in his shoe den but you’re not likely to get your shoes fixed!

Needed a piece of scrap leather for a project. Roger allowed me to sort through a selection until I found what I needed.

A older fellow runs the shop here, he is very friendly although a little scattered. I walked in a week after dropping off my shoes to get a buckle repaired. He hadnt worked on them, but worked on them right in front of me and finished within about 30 min.I will return here for other leatherworking needs!4 stars instead of 5 due to the organization. Seems like he could use another hand or two in the shop.

Took about 6 weeks or so to repair soles on a pair of oxfords. I would go in, they wouldn’t be ready, and he’d say “they should be done by next week.” I’d go back a week or two later...still not done. When FINALLY finished (he got them done, at last, when I sat there and waited), the repair was of poor quality: the sole wasn’t cemented on securely and was partially coming away from the shoe, nails were poking up into the leather through the sole visibly on the side of the shoe, and overall they just looked lousy. Wound up throwing them out and buying new shoes (which was what I was trying to avoid to begin with). Sigh...not sure where else to go around here for shoe repair, but I won’t go back there.

Over the years I have taken many items here. Birkenstocks, Keens, other leather shoes & boots, I am happy to say Rogers kept my shoes & Sandals alive longer than normal wear & cheaper than purchasing new ones.

Has quality shoes and boots for sale. Repairs are of good quality but do take about a week.

I walked in this business and honestly couldn’t find the find the front desk, this place is so dirty, stuff laying around everywhere...was so shocked, I walked out before I even talked to the owner.
