Wow did I take a swing at the Great Collections sales pitch when I consigned a coin.Best estimate was it would go for mid 5 figures. Thought I was going knock it out of the park, maybe a grand slam at best, a solo homer at least. Instead a drag bunt.Unfortunately went for 25 percent less than the rosiest estimate proffered by GC.Wish GC would update their photo process like other big auctions houses and long time dealers. Photo GC used did no favors for the actual coin, which looked way better in hand than the image GC posted. Oh well.
One of the best coin auction houses! Always a wide selection of coins each week. Find a rare coin or one not so rare. Prices are fair for both buyer and sellor. Shipping is always fast and with echeck you can cut the commission to 10%. Good service and a great selection of coins each and every week. The only place for a serious collector.
I have been dealing with Ian @ Great Collections for several years. I must say that they are great to deal with and their staff has always treated me with the utmost courtesy. I think his business model works well and I prefer to consign my items to him as opposed to the competition. Turnaround on settlements is quick and their website gets a lot of attention, which results in very active bidding. Top notch people and top notch service!
Ian who is a honest, kind intelligent business owner. I had the good experience with him. I sold my American eagle coins to him many times for the last 10 years. Ian gave me the fair price. I am very happy with his service. But his clerk needs to improved the customer services skills better. The customer service is horrible 🤣
I’m very pleased with my experience selling coins through Great Collections! Everybody was very professional and easy to talk to and get in touch with. I’m grateful for their service and attention to detail and would highly recommend Great Collections!
Not the place to sell your coins as a Seller! Will Never send my Coins and do business with them again. They sold my coins for netting average of $3 per coin when I could had sold them myself for more than $3. Maybe buyers if any, but I think they buy the coin internally so My Lost! Which was hundreds of dollars possibly even thousands of dollars with my unique coins. Anyone how to file a legal complaint without incurring high legal fees?
Its simple !They have the best service, the best staff, and quality photos. You can buy with confidence from a first class site.
Extremely nice people to work with, Attention to every detail when selling your coins, Would highly recommend everyone to use Great Collections for buying and selling. you dont get stuck in voice mail when calling, You actually get to talk to a knowledgeable person!! Would give 10 stars if Google would allow!!
I only recently became really aware of GreatCollections (even though I have seen them advertised in Coin World for many years) when I decided to sell my collection of Spanish Colonial Gold and Silver coins. I was offered less than $7,000 by the very few dealers who wanted to buy them (even though there was a high-grade type set of 8 Escudos gold doubloons). What did I end up with through GreatCollections: $13,581.40.That is a bit of a difference!I then decided to check into what was being offered and I have successfully bid of several amazing coins. One (pictured) was an 1895 $20 gold piece graded by PCGS in an Old Green Holder (OGH) with a Gold CAC sticker (indicating the grade on the original PCGS label was lower than what it should have been). This coin was clearly way above MS60 and looked like Proof-Like surfaces. Well see what it comes back as when I have it re-graded.Suggestion: I have seen some negative reviews and I can only say if you are new to coin collecting (I have been doing it for 54 years) and think you can make a lot of money quickly buying and trading, you are probably rather naive. You need to buy quality and think long-term.GreatCollections does not charge commissions on coins sold for over $1,000 (which saved me a fortune), and their commission for lower cost coins is incredibly reasonable. I especially like the almost instantaneous emails indicating whether you are the high bidder at the moment, or if someone has outbid you, so that you can jump back in and raise your bid.How much do I like Great Collections? I have spent over $28,600 in just the first month of bidding and I will continue bidding until I complete my goal of having a rather amazing US and Mexico gold collection. Is there transparency? Absolutely.I have found Ian and Raeleen to be completely honorable business people and I will continue to go back to GreatCollections rather than the other auction houses I have dealt with in the past who were less than forthcoming.
Great Collections sets the standard in the world of Numismatics...Every week there are a fresh set of coins in every conceivable denomination to chose from !! Their buyers premiums are below any other major auction house in the country...Secondly, the low sellers fees enable any coin seller the chance to maximize a profit. Lastly, the staff is extremely knowledgeable, professional an friendly which insures any an every question that a client or customer may have will be answered promptly. Ive been a collector an student of Numismatics for years...Great Collections is the only Auction House I recommend to any an all collectors!! Thank You..Jerry C.
One of the best auction houses online for collectable US coins and currency. International shipping is cheap and fees are a fair price. Quick shipping with full tracking. Thanks guys and keep up the great work!
Great Collections is by far the best company to sell rare coins. I would definitely recommend them to all sellers. No hassle, no holding-fees due to doing great business. No drama! Super great service. Thank you for making the coin business a real business and user-friendly. Thanks Great Collections! You are the GREAT!
Simply superb - photography is clear, sharp and color-accurate (luster, toning, etc). Entire website is very user friendly with tremendous refinement search tools and a huge archives access. The amount and diversity of each weeks offerings is tremendous - truly something for everybody regardless of collecting/investing level. Turnaround times are the best in the industry and postage prices very reasonable. Ian and staff are friendly and customer focused. Look no further for quality products, service and value for your numismatic goals and interest!
If you sell your coins through this company its because you want serious people looking at what you are selling and not a bunch of amateurs. From their website your coins are being looked at and considered by people throughout the world.my experience is also that you can expect is substantially quicker sale. And what a place such as eBay can offer.
Great Collections generous cash advance program and quick payments has allowed us to grow our business substantially. We are regular consignors as well as satisfied buyers. What separates Great Collections from all other numismatic auction houses is their approachability and thoroughness. Email responses are usually immediate and phones are answered 7 days a week. Most importantly- always an answer when you have a question!Weve been with Great Collections since first consigning in early 2013. Tonight (3/22/15) was a special auction night. We had a rare Clad Washington Quarter Variety which started out at $2,450.00. When bidding ended it closed at $11,753 with multiple bidders bidding over $10,000!Great Collections not only has great coins, they have great customers. Only with a strong and active customer base can a company offer such a vibrant and dynamic market place.
Great rare coin auction company. I have both bought and consigned coins here. Buying offers the lowest buyers premiums and fastest shipping. Consigning has the lowest seller fees, fastest settlement and payments. What more could I need? I have tried the rest and decided this is the best. Thank you Ian for your help.
I have been working with GreatCollections since they first started. The service has always been second to none. Any reserve is posted so you know right off the bat what you are up against. Shipping is super fast and the large size images let you see everything you need. Highly recommended for those looking to consign or buy.
I want to say that the service Ian and his staff have provided has been great! Keep up the good work! I will be using Great Collections in the future, thats for sure.
Real bad guysI sold through them best coins my daughters trust had . Beside slow payments they switching coins before send to grading service . But very quick with advances. It’s really not an auction house . It’s just a Orange County Pawn Shop with lot of issues .I’d stay away .
Dealing with Great Collections is excellent. The customer service is the best and they really give each customer the best service. The coins offered by great collections are great in variety with excellent prices. The company is by far the best auction company to deal with. I would recommend Great Collections to anyone who likes to buy or sell coins.
As a buyer, was great, no complaints whatsoever. Mainly great because prices realized were low and could be resold in other venues. As a seller, was very poor. Prices realized are lower than ebay and Heritage. Anyone that says 10% commission is the lowest hasnt negotiated with Heritage before. Heritage can match or beat the buyers premium/seller fees, and your prices realized will be higher 99.9% of the time. Dont recommend this venue for selling.
Great collections is one of the best online auction houses for coins and currency. Have never had a bad experience. Customer service is A+ and buyer fees are the lowest in the industry. Thank you GC for giving us a great venue to buy material.
Todd was very helpful today. looking forward to using your services. Thanks
Ive had multiple experiences with Great Collections that all went well. What Im most impressed with was the responsiveness of the customer service. Ive had more than a few questions over the years thru email and everytime they got back to me within an hour. Other businesses just do not have this response time.
Selling here didnt work that well for me. Prices realized were all at the exact minimums. It is a good platform technically speaking and the concept is a good one. I will go back to Ebay.
There is no doubt about the service. They are excellent about the product questions and response back
I discovered GreatCollections in January of this year and have been a buyer every week since. The web site is easy to navigate, the pictures are first class and if I have a question (e.g. is that scratch on the holder or coin) I get a response in 24 hours. My coins are shipped within 24 hours of payment. The buyer fees at 10% are also less than most other sites.
I just sold my fathers coin collection through GreatCollections and could not be more pleased. Since I was not the collector, I did not know what the coins were worth, even though my dad had been telling me for years that he had rare and valuable coins. After calling several coin dealers, one actually recommended I call GreatCollections, since he could not handle the grading of the coins. They handled all of the grading through PCGS (it was cheaper than if I did it myself direct with PCGS) and made recommendations on which coins to grade. Not all were worth enough to grade, so I did not consign those. In total, I consigned 42 coins and the check I received was just over $11,500 after the grading fees were deducted. Greatcollections did not charge any sellers commission on 3 coins as they sold for over $1000. They charged 5% for the other coins (that sold for under $1000).Approximate timeline of the consignment (I received emails every step of the way, and had a lot of fun following the bidding once the coins listed in auction):Consigned collection - April 8thGreatcollections emailed grading results - April 18thListed in auction - April 29thSold - May 12thCheck received - May 20th
I have been dealing with GreatCollections since 2011 and have done numerous transactions, both buying and selling. I find their advantages to be their easy-to-use website, high quality images and low fees.Their shipping is very cheap in the U.S. (I try to have them ship while Im in the U.S.). Its more expensive to ship overseas. Everything is sent insured and well-packed.My last dealing with them was a consignment of coins that GreatCollections ended up getting graded by PCGS as part of the consignment process. That made it much easier than if I did it myself. The coins were then auctioned.
I just received a Morgan Dollar that I won at GreatCollections last week. The coin looks like the photo, even the blue/red toning was accurately portrayed. This was my first auction win - I look forward to bidding in the future. Might even consign some of my duplicates.
After talking to three coin dealers about selling my coins, I came across GreatCollections. I received a free appraisal from their website and then consigned all of the coins. The auction estimate was $5,250 and my final check came in at $5,895.50.For anyone selling coins, I recommend their auction service.
Have bid on 2 different occassions and in all transactions was completely satisfied with the descriptions and customer service to complete the transaction
I just had my first experience with Great Collections and have to say I am more than delighted with their service and knowledge of rare coins.I am very. very happy with this company.Mahalo Nui Loa!!
Came to me highly recommended by Bonanza/Julian Liedman. They are a trusted partner and will meet your every need.
Great company, even for foreign customers
Not a retail shop. Online only shopping.
