I have been wanting to eat here for awhile now, but just couldnt make it happen till yesterday, and though it was truly worth the wait, I really wish I had been eating there for years, as I cant believe it took me over 20 years of living in South Mississippi to finally hear about Beatty Street. Places like this are just few and far between in this day of fast food and fad food franchises. I am one of those people who really, really enjoys eating at a Greasy Spoon(This is a Compliment!), that puts out great cooked to order food & that is exactly what I got here at Beatty Street. Not only was the food great, but the staff was exceptional and the owner even took the time to have an in depth chat about small towns here in South Mississippi and how revitalization is going on all across this great state. I had the best Chicken Fried Steak Sandwich that I have had in years, and a slaw dog with slaw so fresh they were making it when I placed my order. I cant say enough good things about the Jackson, Mississippi Historic Icon. I am already looking forward to my next visit there, and hope to see you there.

Awesome local spot for a good burger. Prices are super fair and its a real experience to dine in - a mix of traditional corner store and dive. The people were friendly as well. Not for overly formal settings so go to have some fun and relax. Im looking forward to trying more of the menu next time.

Great place for a greasy burger and seasoned fries. Your burger can be different sizes.They lost some staff since COVID, but they are making it work.

Food was on par with most breakfast biscuit providers. The establishment was original and welcoming but not beyond order, pay, and get out. Guests were friendly and observed common courtesy expected in civil society. But, the short length gray-haired counter clerk could not have presented a more disgruntled, hate to be in the hospitality business, cold demeanor only displayed by some of the most jaded workers in the industry.Just because the streets are in rough shape leading to Beatty Grocery doesnt mean that the ride inside should be equally as turbulent. I hope that this instance was just an anomaly, but the biscuits arent good enough to pull me back in.

Food is good but the customer service is horrible speaking from experience. If she has THAT type of attitude then shes MOST DEFINITELY in the wrong line of work. Just because youre old doesnt mean that you have to be rude. A little kindness goes a long way.

The food is great and the prices are decent at this long lived local downtown establishment. Breakfast prices are better than lunch but both are good. They really could stand a nice remodel. Most of the time when i have people in from out of town they are worried by the look of the place but once they taste the food they always want to go back before they leave. Even their salads are good.

The best sandwiches are at this local greasy spoon, from the fried Bologna sandwich to the 6 oz. Beatty burger. If youre stomach can handle it, I suggest a 12 oz. Super Beatty Burger, dressed to your liking w/fries and 32.oz lemonade all for $7. Heavy on the belly, but light on your pockets.

Love this place as do lots of other locals. Terrible neighborhood, and its a hole in the wall, but theres always a lunch crowd. Very inexpensive, good food. If its your first time, just start with the Beatty Burger and fries. You wont be disappointed.

Ok, this place is a little different. If you have heard the term hole in the wall before to describe a restaurant and wanted to know what it means then Beatty Street is for you. Dont let the appearance fool you, this place has some of the best lunch foods around. You truly cant judge a book by its cover.

I frequented this place often in the mid 80s. The uneven floors and shimmed shelving were iconic to Beatty. I am sad however that there is no Oyster Poboy or Meatloaf sandwich on the menu, and that the inside has changed so drastically. I miss those days, and Beatty Street Grocery. But still the finest food around. 👍👍

The cooks are absolutely the sweetest people youll ever meet...! Seriously they really are... But the owner the lady behind the cashier is by far and I have no problem in saying this because I have been coming to this place since I was 15 years old and Im 39 now the absolute biggest b****on the f****** planet I will pay anybody and I mean anybody a hundred bucks if you can get this b**** to smile I dont care if you spend $100 in there and repaint the building when you pay for your meal she will tell you and I quote go around the bars to leave and give you a smug ass bulldog scowl mean mug...! I dont give a s*** if her daughter is Skylar from American blunder . But other than that the food looks fantastic and it tastes even better I strongly recommend the ham egg and cheese sandwich in the morning and be sure to be sweet to the Kooks because they work their ass off all day and make sure and I mean make sure when you check out to tell the b**** behind the cashier have a fantastic day and punch yourself in the face maybe shell smile

One of the greatest experiences I had growing up in Jackson were the unbeatable roast beef po boys at Beatty Street Grocery. Though I no longer live there, I understand from those who do that they are just as memorable as I recall.

This is a true dive. Burgers, dogs, soda. Greasy spoon eat your heart out. Everything made fresh from frozen to order. Not quaint. Authentic. No tourists. Padlocked bathroom outside. Enjoy!

Horrible service. Waited 10 min at desk to be served while the rude woman who apparently owns the place just walks by. After taking the order of 3 people in front of me. As I stood there I watched her pick up tator tots that were laying on table with all kinds of scaps around it. And also watched as she took old fries shoved them in bag and topped them off with new ones to make you think you were getting fresh fries yea rite. She also wears no gloves or hair net while preparing food. . Also seen they have a class c rating for cleanliness and sanitation. Do not eat here unless you want horrible service and possible death from food poisoning.

Awesome burgers.I live miles awsy but find an excuse often to swing by Jackson just to have lunch here from time to time...well worth the trip.

A couple days ago was my first time going here in about 10 years woke up the taste for their delicious breakfast sandwich got there to the front counter took 5 min before they took my order then sat another 45 min watch 4 guys that came in after me get their food plus it was a crew of painters in front of me who got their food got to the counter to check on my order the skinny white lady wit the mark on her face tells me they must gave it away and they would make it over which mean I wouldve had to sit another 30 plus minutes even the guys who were dining looked like wth they even witness how long I had been there I guess if youre not an everyday customer or police they dont care I will never go again I promise no matter how good the food is
