The people are very experienced and professional, especially the steel shop welders. I would definitely recommend having your work done here
What a great group! They really stepped in and helped us out when we really needed them. The repair they did was well thought through, professionally done and kept us informed the entire time.A big thanks to Doug and his crew!
My husband took our boat to St. Johns Boat Co. to be hauled off a trailer (after being transport from Tampa, Fl.) and placed on jacks to get some minor work done while out of the water. He spoke with Jeff Smith the manager and they agreed on a price and a not to exceed as well as he assuring him that the work will not take more that 2 days. After the boat arrived he was warned by a boat captain that St. Johns Boating Co. which is under management will keep your boat longer than needed to collect on their daily storage fee (in our case was $54 per day). My husband went to the boat every day and was concerned that they were not working on the boat. The boat arrived on a Friday and no work was done by the marina Mon, Tue, or Wednesday so he was shocked when they charged him for 30 hours of work that was not performed on Friday when h received his bill. They kept the boat for 10 days and worked on it no more than 6 hours, however, charged us for 30 hours of work. He spoke by phone with the manager (Jeff Smith) on Friday when I saw the bill. Jeff he told me to see him on Monday he will take care of it. I got to the marina on Monday and was told Jeff was fired ( not for our issues). Our Bill was over $3,000.00 then lowered it to $2700 after he complained. My husband requested to speak with the owner who was very rude and loud. He tried to intimidate my husband and told him that if it is not paid in full the boat will just stay on his property at $54 per day. My husband left the marina and consulted with his attorney who told him to go ahead and just pay the amount because they have your boat hostage and it will continue to accrue the $54 each day. My husband call the owner by phone and they agreed on $2,200. They were to change the water pump impeller, which was not done. Their workers were not knowledgeable about our boat, they had an electrician doing mechanical work on it. When we tried to navigate the boat to our marina it was inoperative and he had to get it towed to our marina by BoatUS. We were able to get a competent mechanic to work on the boat and they were amazed at the extravagant amount charged by St Johns Boating Co. The mechanic also stated that they have heard a lot of negative things about the company and the owner. Please do not take your boat to the ST. Johns Boating Co. Poor work, rip off, and awful management. We will be reporting them to the BBB. My husband was a army aviator and a retired aerospace engineer after 28 years of federal government (DOD) service.
We were treated rudely and the owner accused us of not telling the truth, he yelled at us in the office, and acted like we were trying to cheat the company when we were trying to get them to honor what the former yard manager had promised. We had paid them $21,000 for a repair and left for our scheduled 5 month Bahamas trip. 2 small items were not finished because they did not have the parts but they had been promised by the yard manager as part of the paid bill and told they would be completed - they even had one of our parts onsite that was supposed to be repaired while we were away but the owner had no knowledge about it. They found the part after we asked the former yard manager where it was and it is now supposedly it is being repaired . Poor customer communication and especially to ones who have been good customers. We even had recommended the boat yard to other boaters and we know one that went there, It is absurd to think we would try to cheat someone out of a couple hundred dollars after paying our entire $21,000 bill. We enjoyed working with the former yard manager - he was a man of his word as are we. We are not complaining about the work done, but about the way we were treated in their office.
Well I work here. I know we always try to give all if our customers a very satisfying product. Wether we are replacing the engine or simply pressure washing their hull. It is a great place to work. I do not see this as just another job, but a life long full filling career
The proximity to the water makes this an ideal location for a boatyard, unlike some of the other sketchy marinas and boatyards that dont offer waterfront access or boat repair. My husband and I have learned to avoid those places. 5/5 stars would definitely recommend St. Johns Boat Co.
Didn’t bring my boat in but did have some work done on my trailer still looking good over a year later. Would recommend.
Just wanted to thank they guys at Johns Boat Co. Very professional, very caring of the job that I needed done. They also had the most Beautiful Teak & Holly panels put in my boat! Thanks again guys!!!! Ill be sure to let everyone know YOU guys did it!! :)Thanks,HAPPY CUSTOMER
I brought my sailboat in for some work, it was great quality and fast service. I would recommend anyone who needs fiberglass work done by professionals.
As the Capt. Of a 62MY, I had to get some emergency repairs done on the boat on the way back to NY from Miami 2 years ago. The owner Bronson Lamb actually waited for us on a Saturday to haul the boat and get the work order going. The work was done extremely well in a timely basis at a fair cost. We have had work done on the boat from St.Thomas to NY and these folks are one of the best yards we have ever been at.
Best boat yard Ive been to yet. Good people and quality work.the weld crew is fenominal
The best little boatyard I have ever been to. Great service and fair prices.
Worst boat yard ever!!!!! Apparently they are under new management and are charging triple what everyone else charges. Also they have no idea what they are doing. Took them almost two weeks to get a bottom job quote which came in at over $8000.00 for a spot sand and single coat of bottom paint. I called 3 other boat yards and none were over $5000.00. To top it off they refused to release my boat until I paid a $2600.00 bill for haul block and lauch, more than double what any other yard would charge. Avoid this yard at all costs!!!!!!
Was a great place to work on the dredge. Friendly and very safe place.
A great full service small boat yard, where an owner can work on personal boats
No complaints, will definitely come back.
7 days and 13.5 hours of labor to repack a propeller shaft.Just spent 3 weeks on the ICW. My bilge was filling up twice a day. After inspection, I realized the propeller shaft was leaking. So, I called ahead to find a place that could repack the propeller shaft. This place seemed friendly enough. However, they took longer to fix the problem and charged ten times the amount of labor hours than necessary to fix a simple problem. A propeller shaft can be repacked in an hour if that, not 13.5 hours. Clearly, they have a license to steal.
If boat companies were steaks, St Johns would be a filet mignon and the rest are hamburgers.
The new owner is a charlatan. Avoid this place at all costs.
This place is a ripoff. Jeff Smith and I agreed on work to be performed and the approximate time and cost. I had my boat shipped to the for haul off and some work while it is on jacks. They kept my boat there and did minimal amount of work and gave me a bill well in excess of what we had agreed on. Worst boat shop I ever went to.
Good staff and awesome yard manager
They do excellent work
REFUSES TO GIVE ME A CHANCE TO HAUL OUT MY BOAT FOR NO REASON.
