Im visually impaired so I required assistance finding what I needed to buy. The evening I visited the store, the employees who waited on me seemed a bit miffed or upset. This is the 1st time Ive ever noticed any sort of an attitude problem. Ive done business here for over 20 years. Maybe it was a bad day when I last visited. I WILL return in the future. This business ALWAYS has had what I needed and the advice is always very helpful. A great place to buy HARDWARE. Much better than any big box chain store. Im sure Ill give 2 more stars after my next visit.

Horrible place will never go back. My family has been doing business with them for over 30 years and its steadily been declining since Bill no longer runs the place. Tried telling me 500 copies I needed to print would cost them $400. I held my laughter till I made it outside. Well its off to Kinkos for the copies and Ill give all my other hardware store needs to J-town Hardware.

Rented a dingo from them as I have before however, this time the lever broke off while just starting to use the machine. My time is very limited and have only one day that Im off work and able to use the machine so this couldve been big issue. Ben was absolutely great! He had me send picture of lever and he ordered the part, it came in the following week. Ben allowed me to hold onto machine through weekend as well to get my work completed and it worked out perfectly, got all my work done in one day. This is a great place to rent equipment and rest assured Ben will take care of you if you have a problem, Thank You Dierufs hardware!

Family owned and operated since 1946. Owner and staff treat you like family. The feeling of an old time hardware store that has been modernized. Prices are very competitive with the big box stores. If you have project you might need help with, they are knowledgeable and willing to help. They also rent anything from tools to Bobcats. They also fill propane tanks on site.

I rented equipment from here and after calling to say they couldn’t make the reservation and I start another job, they called back to say it was on property. Then they charged me $5 a gallon when the tank said full. They didn’t tell me the gauge was broken. Good equipment, but they didn’t treat me fair.

Well stocked, well lit, clean hardware store. These are becoming a rarity. Its nice to still have a place where I can buy (1) 1/4-20 nut, if thats what I need. Hands down, the best selection of Midwest Fastener (specialty and uncommon hardware) around. Prices are reasonable.

Twice I have tried renting equipment from here. First time was a invisible fence wire installer. Reserved the device, scheduled friends over to help, picked up equipment, didn’t run. Took back to store they couldn’t get it working. Aggravated but hey things happen. Second try was power seeder, picked up unit, it had a lock on it to prevent setting depth too deep, ok they are the experts. Well when I tried to do my yard, it did not make contact with the ground 50% of the time, especially the areas that were bare. Made my complaints, but it worked for them, so tough. At maybe a 1/4 of depth, very subtle variances in the ground can make it miss. If I could have lower it, no lock, I could have gotten the job done. So had to go home and get out the rake to do by hand. They should have offered to move the lock one more notch or give me the rental charge back. Will not rent equipment here again. The store as a whole has what you need and the people are nice.

He was very understanding of my unexpected schedule change and worked with me so that I would be fairly charged in a delay of returning the machine.Also, on that same visit, when I purchased a full propane tank (tank included), the price was less than any other store in town.Dieruf hardware has secured my patronage for life because the employees are knowledgeable and polite, the store itself is always clean and presentable AND they offer free popcorn while you are shopping! Dieruf Hardware is always the first place i call or visit when i have hardware needs. As soon as i walk in someone will ask me what i need, take me to the area of the store where i can find it, and help me figure out how to use it. AND they are competitely priced as those big box stores. One employee knew how much grass seed I needed because and i quote I live near your house and I know the size of your yard. You dont get that at the big box.This is my favorite Dieruf story. I was looking for something to put on my flowers to keep the squirrels out without hurting them. I found something on the Internet that was made from granulated coyote urine. Dont ask me how they got the coyotes to pee in the bottles.The price on the internet was 19.99 plus shipping. I thought I wonder if Dieruf carries this? so I went there. I walked in and the guy asked What can i help you find? I said (just for fun) Im looking for granulated coyote pee. He looked at me for a second amd said Let me show you where it is. It was the same stuff that was sold on the internet and it was 17.99 and no shipping. They made me a loyal customer that day.
