Recently purchased a new wood stove and the installation from Olde Towne. The entire experience was great from the initial consultation to the final install. We received mixed messages from other companies and were uncertain if it could work the way we envisioned it. Tony is a pro and helped us find a free standing stove that fit perfectly inside of our existing fireplace. We went to their showroom and picked the Morso 7110 Viking and are very happy with the look and functionality. Much cleaner and more efficient than burning an open fire. Would recommend Olde Towne to anyone wanting to do something similar.
The young men were polite and respectful. They cleaned the stove and chimney in a business like manner. Job well done. Thank you Damon and Dakota.
When we first bought the fireplace insert they were great to deal with. We really like the insert, although it was not inexpensive. However, post-sales service is another story. We had them come out to clean the chimney per their recommendation, and to inspect the fireplace. When they left, in April of 2020, we noticed a slight lean to the chimney topper. We didnt think much of it at the time, but over the next several months it got worse. We made several phone calls which were not returned. When 4 months later we finally got through to them and explained the issue, we were told that they would be right out. That was back in October. Here it is January 2021 and the topper is leaning even more, and there is no sign of them coming out to fix the problem they caused when cleaning the chimney. They seem nice, but no followup. Its a shame, but with better post-sale service this could have been an 5-star review.
Im a new customer! The staff where friendly and helpful! Damon was on time for my 9:30 cleaning. He was really Professional and Patient with the other concerns I had with my gas fireplace. Damon is great at his job! I would definitely recommend this company.
I stopped by to inquire about gas log or insert options for my fireplace. The sales consultant was very helpful and informative. There was no sales pressure. He was patient and answered all my questions, even though he knew I wasn’t ready to purchase at the moment. When I’m ready to upgrade my fireplace, I’ll be returning to Olde Towne Chimney and Fireplace.
If I had the opportunity to work with another provider, I would do it in a heartbeat. The overall process from getting a quote, to getting the fireplace installed, to having the tile work completed has been MISERABLE. The staff, from the President to the secretary, are extremely unorganized and dont particularly seem to know whats going on. We had asked for a quote last year and they forgot to send it to us and even after multiple follow-ups, it was never provided. We picked this project up again in 2020, had to have someone else come back out for a quote and our fireplace was ordered without any issues. Understanding that COVID-19 impacted timing of shipping, we were patient. However, 2+ months after paying our deposit we reached out for an update at the end of January because we hadnt heard anything. We were told that our fireplace had been in since the beginning of the month. From there, it was multiple back and forths, taking over a month to get our fireplace installed, two months from the time it had actually arrived. Our siding was damaged during the installation and the President of the company suggested that I contact a siding company to get it fixed and therefore, his team wouldnt need to come up with a permanent solution. Ive had to coordinate the scheduling with the tile provider that I paid Old Towne Chimney for myself - so although you pay Old Towne Chimney as a packaged service, expect to work with them as if this was contracted separately. We are now a month out from the time I initially tried to schedule the tile provider to complete his work and two reschedules later, Im still trying to figure out how to get this project finished.Again, if I had the chance to work with ANY other provider, I would absolutely do so. Everything from the service, to the installation, to the communications, to the follow up has been an unpleasant and terrible experience. I would highly encourage anyone looking for fireplace or chimney work to find a company that can provide better quality and more professional services.Addition:(As a highlight of the service that a customer can expect to be provided, the response from the owner to this review is very representative. Instead of addressing the concerns that they could fix or improve on as an organization, its a mix of ignoring or defensive excuses for the poor work that was done.)
Great place to shop for your fireplace needs
From Oct 2020 to January 2021; this company installed 3 gas insert systems, logs and burner, that were totally defective; we (the company and I) finally gave up and they gave us a full refund, but no fireplace for the winter season; installs were awful; first install the technicians were given the wrong timeframe; the product worked for two weeks; second install the product had a problem and stopped working twenty minutes after technician left; third install the technician didn’t showed at all, and didn’t call until we called the main office to tell them of the problem; when the installation happened the system worked two hours and then stopped working; run from this company to Louisville and find a reputable company with products and solutions that workOwner blames Covid19 for everything that went wrong with this company putting a faulty product 3 times in my home; poor customer service, installing systems that didn’t work, which was the owners recommendation; if the first product didn’t work why not try a product that does work, like a smaller system; the definition of is insanity is doing the same thing over and over again an expecting the same result.
We shopped several stores for new gas logs and chose Olde Towne because we felt confident in their advice about what kind and what size logs to buy. Everyone we worked with from sales to installers to accounting were professional. They expedited ordering and scheduling of chimney cleaning and installation to have the logs installed in a short time before the first party in our new home. Good folks to work with. We recommend them.
If you have any fireplace needs or wants, this place will get it done at a reasonable price. I would definitely recommend them to anyone.
We are loving our gas insert fireplace! It’s nice to be able to have a fire again after years of no use.
We had originally purchased a gas insert from another company in the Louisville area. When it worked it was great, but there were simply times when it wouldnt work, particularly when the temperature was cold. (There is something incredibly frustrating about having a fireplace that only seems to work when the temperature is above 55 degrees, but I digress.) After having the company that originally installed the unit come out multiple times without fixing the issue, we called Olde Towne. The first time Tony came out to inspect the unit, the weather was horrible and he want able to get up on the roof. He spent over an hour examining everything he could inside, but the problem persisted. He came back out again and needed about thirty seconds up on the roof to diagnose multiple issues with the original installation. He again spent over an hour going back and forth between the unit and the chimney, effectively re-installing the intake and exhaust lines and making sure they were hooked up correctly. Since then, the fireplace has worked beautifully. We had reasons for wanting a venting gas insert and I certainly wish we had initially gone to Olde Towne for the purchase. Knowing what youre doing when installing these systems matters. I would strongly encourage anyone interested in making sure their fireplace works right to go to Olde Towne.
Im a manager at one of the highest rated roofing companies in the Louisville area. This is the only chimney company in town that I would call for my own home. Very personable and professional employees. You cant go wrong with these guys. Have been referring this company for four years and never heard a negative from my customers. Outstanding service and friendly employees. Its rare in the construction industry to find a company that you can trust to do a great job, but this company has never let me down!
Love looking at different fireplaces they have in display
I have worked with Olde Towne Chimney for over ten years now and I have found them to be one of the most customer driven companies that I have worked with. Tony and Eric are not only about offering the best products, but also best in class service. The are driven to get every aspect of the sale right. This best in class service not only means they challenge their vendors to be a higher standard, but themselves as well. They and their employees are dedicated to continuing technical and product education. Choosing Olde Towne will give you the peace of mind that you are just as important after the sale.
Customer Service was outstanding. Penny went out of her way to understand our customer needs and helped us get serviced promptly. A day later, the service team came on time, dressed professionally, certified, and did good work while providing knowledgeable explanation. I will use them again in the future.
$189. To come out and diagnose gas fireplace!
Tony and his crew from Olde Towne installed a liner to our furnace and fireguard for one of our three chimneys as we converted a fireplace from gas logs to gas assist wood burning. It turned out to be slightly more difficult that anticipated because of the design of the flue, but they met the challenge. Tony is extraordinarily knowledgeable about the design and dynamics of fireplaces and chimneys. If you’re interested, he’ll give you an education, not just great service. I will use Olde Chimney again and would certainly recommend them.
I had my old fireplace replaced and chimney rebuilt by Olde Towne Chimney and would choose them again. The wood fireplace they suggested heats my home very warmly, fires can be made easily and it looks beautiful. The price was right and the people I had in my home were very friendly, trustworthy and did a great job.
I had Olde Towne Chimney come out and install an RSF Opel 3C wood burning fireplace which I purchased from them on their recommendation. I am 100% satisfied with the fireplace and installation. It was hard work but they got it done and the fireplace heats my whole house nicely. I would do it all again with Olde Towne Chimney if I had to redo my purchase and installation over.
Before we had Olde Towne clean our fireplace, we used it very sparingly because the fireplace was not built correctly when the house was built in the late 60s. Because it smoked a little when we used it we only had a fire a few times a winter. When Olde Towne first inspected and cleaned it, they explained and showed us exactly why it smoked and what it would take and cost to repair. Although at the time we thought the repair cost was a little high, in the two years since the repairs were made, the cost was well worth it. The workers were very polite and professional and now we enjoy a fire four to five times a week during the winter. We highly recommend Olde Towne for any fireplace issues. A very good company to do business with.
I can’t remove the 1 star but I was told by the “receptionist” that if I DID NOT PURCHASE MY BRAND NEW WOOD STOVE FROM “THEM” they COULD NOT INSTALL IT! I bought it for $1,000 at Tractor Supply and am just replacing an old one that had been there. ZERO HELP! I guess you have to have them install your fireplace as you build a new home to get a fireplace cleaned as well? My home has both! Word of mouth is powerful!
Would never recommend. Had an inspection done which they charge $99 for by the way. I have been hearing rain in my chimney. Inspectors stayed a whole 20 mins and determined the cause was due to condensation leaking from the cap into the fireplace. They informed me there was nothing else they can do and left.
We purchased our wood stove about a year ago. Very pleased with the service and professional installation. The stove performed very well and reduced our propane usage this past year by 900 gallons! We just had the stove cleaned by Olde Towne Chimney and we are all ready to go for the upcoming winter. We are very pleased with this company.
We worked with Eric and he got us exactly the fireplace we wanted and was awesome to deal with. Everything was handled in a timely manor and when we needed to make some adjustments, Eric was quick to respond and take care of it. Awesome product and service! I would highly recommend them.
Asked for a quote on chimney repair through BBB portal. Got a response that they will come to inspect. Guys came on the day to inspect. I was told that it will take them some time (Quite professional???) to come up with an estimate. A week passed, no estimate. Called them again and was told that we will be getting an estimate in a few days. We have called almost every week. But no response for almost 4 months now. Is this a serious business (And we had told them that we need to get the work done and would not be delaying work). And this is even before the commitment for work is done by both parties, I wonder what will happen once they start the work. Still waiting for the estimate .....
They took their time cleaning and inspecting the furnace. Polite and friendly.
Hats off to Eric and his crew at Olde Towne Fireplace and Chimney in Jeffersonville for creating our masterpiece. I went to them with merely a photo, and a vision of what I wanted. This week Rodger, Dylan and the rest of the crew went to work creating it... They stayed within our budget and put in long days. The were particular to the little details and did a great job of cleaning up the mess it took to build my hearth and wood stove installation. In the end, Id recommend their work to anyone needing stone or fireplace work..
Went to pay invoice for work done on my house. They charged us about an extra 200 dollars over the invoice amount for “coming by to give a quote”. I’ve never in my life been charged for a quote, and was never told that there would be a charge nor was I invoiced for this so called service charge.
Poor customer service. Called ahead to check part availability. Was told part was in stock. Drove 45 minutes to find out it was not the correct part. No apologies given. Sales clerk stated, I didnt hear you specify the length of the thermometer. This is all we have.
I purchased my own stove to use in a cinderblock garage. First they stated that they could not do it because its against codes. When I explained it was used as a workshop, they quoted me a price that was almost ten times the cost of the stove. The lady explained it would include some pipes and labor for two men for six hours. I said no thanks.
Had an issue with water getting into my chimney and running down to the fireplace. After spending $1800 to have them create a new drip edge and seal my chimney, theres no difference. I can look up into my chimney and see that its leaking in the exact same place. I feel like Ive spent $1800 for nothing.Edit: Olde Towne is currently trying to work through the issue with me.
I had Olde Towne Chimney install a wood burning stove in my sunroom about four months ago. This was a well build stove. It only took them 3 hours to install and I have used it many times this year. It heats the whole upstairs and we did not have to turn on the furnace as long as it was burning. I have to say they are a very good company and I understand that they can do anything anyone would need in stoves and fireplaces. I could not be happier.
Best fire place show room in Kentuckiana!
I recently used Olde Towne Chimney to inspect my fireplace before putting my home on the market. When they arrived to do the inspection, I was told my fireplace needed thousands of dollars’ worth of repairs, and that they were surprised the house hadnt caught fire. On top of telling me all the work that was needed and terrifying me, they said they didn’t know when they could fit me into their schedule.Thank goodness I got a second opinion where I learned that their assessment was incorrect and that my fireplace was actually in good working condition and only needed a small repair that cost less than $1,000.Olde Towne’s extremely poor customer service and exorbitant, unreliable pricing nearly cost me the sale of my home due to their rudeness when the potential buyer contacted them. They attempted to scare me into paying more than needed. I do not recommend using this company.
Great experiences with Olde Towne Chimney. Always prompt, knowledgeable, great service, and tidy which my wife really likes. I recommend Olde Towne to my friends and colleagues.
We have used Olde Towne for the past 8 years to keep our chimney clean and safe. They come when they say they will and are very clean when working from inside our home on our wood-burning fireplace. I would highly recommend them!
I purchase an expensive woodstove and stainless liner three years ago and have paid extra to have them clean it the last two years because they now tell me I am out of the normal range. They did not tell me that when they sold me the product, but I contiue to pay to have the unit cleaned. Last year in 3rd week of March the flue cap plugged, I called but they could not come until the middle of April. This year, Feb. 8, the liner filled with ash past the stove pipe not letting any air pass through the liner. I called for service the woman on the phone told me they could not service my stove until April 9. I consider the first week of Feb. to be the heart of winter and I heat my home with wood making the need for service a priority. In turn, I had to find another certified chimney sweep to do the job and they charged me half as much as OldeTowne and came on Feb. 10. I am very sorry I did bussiness with Olde Towne and will not again.
If you are a women asking this company for work to be performed, go somewhere else. Not only was the representative rude and irritated at all my questions the company never even offered me a quote for the work that we discussed. This was an expensive $99 lesson learned.
One of the FEW places in the Louisville area that can actually fix your gas fireplace correctly. And when they say they will be at your house - they are there!
Last year, I was having stains on my ceiling in my hallway and could not figure out what the problem was, an electrician told me he thought something was clogged and I should call a chimney sweep company. I called Olde Towne and they discovered a huge blockage in my main exhaust vent which had occurred while my home sat idle prior to my purchase. It was dangerous and damaging the interior of my house. The people were wonderful to work with and explained everything thoroughly. More recently, I was having trouble with my dryer vent continuously clogging and clothes not drying in a timely fashion. Tony came by and inspected my vent lines and discovered that multiple right angles had been inserted into the vent when it was constructed which made air removal and drying most difficult. He ordered parts and repaired both the vent line, the vent on the roof and the interior dryer connection. It works like magic now --this company explains everything and listens while doing great work at a reasonable price.
Best place this side of the Ohio River to buy a fireplace.
Requested a quote for a fireplace and installation services. After selecting a fireplace that is a brand they service, but purchasing it through the manufacturer and requesting Old Towne Chimney to do the installation they increased the installation price by 250%. I would never recommend doing business with a company with business practices like this company. What I would expect from a company is integrity. Obviously I would not expect a free install on something I did not purchase from you. What I was given was a written quote for the cost of a fireplace and an installation price for a specific brand. I purchased the same fireplace from the manufacturer not the “internet” and then spoke with you all about doing an install. You then proceeded to increase the price for the install from $600 to $1,500 which I have documented. Your customer service representative was not only rude and condescending that I would buy a fireplace from somewhere else but unprofessional in her questions to me. Your original quote was for two employees to work an 8 hour install, the actual install took two professionals less than 2 hours. Your continued arrangement condescension in your replies to people who rate your business poorly shows a complete lack of humility and that your focus continues to be on something other than servicing customers with the highest quality.
I found Eric and Tony to be very knowledgeable and professional and I would recommend them for any wood or gas fireplace .
It took a while to get fixed, due to insurance woes, but the folks at Old Towne did a great job replacing my fireplace insert and keeping me up to date on the progress with the insurance company.
Amazing selection! They know what they are talking about. Friendly staff.
Tony has been on the phone with me numerous times to help me with my fireplace issues. He is very friendly, professional and very informative.
Great customer service and knowledgeable employees
Eric is knowledgeable, professional and personable. You will be pleased to work with them.
Very professional and quick servicet, it looks and works great! thanks
Technician arrived and quickly determined the cause of the problem with my gas firelogs and was very fair in explaining options to repair it. The $190 fee for the 15 minute visit seemed high though.
Great people and service.
Very disappointed in products available and customer service.
Very friendly and helpful
Not very helpful
Very good
Professional and Fast!!
