I can’t praise enough this place. I started going for my son and now I’m the regular. Silvia is simply the best. Great professional and kind person. I have curly hair and she has cut it perfectly. I went for the kids and ended up doing my hair too. I have 2yrs old twins and they are super active and not in the mood for an hair cut...Silvia made the whole experience perfect. She was able to cut their hair while playing with them and keeping them comfortable! While doing the kids she gave me some advice for my hair too and I decided to try...the result: happy mom and happy kids! She was able to do color and highlights exactly I wanted. I have a love and hate feeling with this spot, brought my son here for his first haircut. The place is trendy and sparkly clean inside. They also offer Coffee, Tea, Popsicles, Books, Hair Products & Accessories.You can get the first haircut box keepsake that includes a lollipop, brush, hair bag & a certificate for $13 more.You need to make an appointment to be accommodated, thats why Im disappointed that I felt like Silvia is in a rush & gave my son a awkward-looking haircut. Far different from the photo that I showed her. (Okay, given that my son cried and is squirmy).I have high hopes for this place but went home sad. Definitely wont go back and will not recommend them.

I can’t say enough about this place, and about Silvia! My son (9) got a haircut and dye on his hair for the very first time. Not only was my son grinning from ear to ear at the result, but he said to me “wow, she’s REALLY NICE mom!” She made the experience super fun, and one to remember. This place is great! Sylvia was friendly, patient, happy, and energetic. Our daughter got a great first haircut from her. She worked quickly and efficiently. They also offer a package for your child’s first haircut which we purchased as a memory keepsake. They also offer espresso and kid’s manicures. I definitely suggest this place for kid’s haircuts. Also a great place for your kid to learn some words in Italian.

This place is simply amazing. So stylish, bright and welcoming. Im so happy Ive found it and this is our second time to be there.My kidsve had a lot of fun and a great haircuts by Silvia even I didnt make an appointment for my youngest, she was more then willing to do his hair as well. Yalma cut my four-year-old’s hair and did such a great job! The cut itself is fantastic and she was so lovely to him, making him feel comfortable and at-ease. The salon itself is just so cute and the perfect little spot for kids to get their cuts. Plus, their coffee bar is a nice perk for parents.

I live in Brooklyn and I travel to this place every time. I trust Silvia and Jerly so much, with my hair and my daughter’s hair too. I am a dance teacher and I keep recommending them to my students as well, Hair is Happiness never disappoints.It’s not just a hair salon, it’s an experience. And you get to sip coffee while the talented, patient and welcoming Silvia is working her magic.Worth the commute from the city and worth the money. I leave feeling like a new person after being spoiled by the staff. My daughter loves Silvia, she knows how to deal with kids. You should all book an appointment, ASAP!:)

I read all the good reviews and was excited to have my 4-year-old daughters haircut here. The haircut was just okay, though felt overpriced: $42 for a quick trimming ends service(no shampooing). Also, I specifically asked to not blow dry my girls hair since she is afraid and Sylvia forgot about it. Luckily, my daughter didnt end up crying.Sylvia highly recommended me Many Ethnicities Kids shampoo, conditioner and leave-in conditioner, saying that I can buy it only in their salon and this brand cannot be bought online.I ended up paying $24.50 for each of three bottles, only to find out that amazon sells them at $8.39 and $11 respectively, meaning I paid three times more. My bad, I didnt googled it before purchasing, but I hope that my review will help someone.We will never return.

Everyone should come here this place is perfection. Amazing kind patient professional! Great music, fantastic coffee, beautiful environment. Elegant place to bring the children for their cut or for yours. My child says shes not coming back, because she is not leaving.

America perfectly cut both our boys’ hair. The two year old with thin blond hair and the four year old with too much thick brown hair. She’s perfect!

Today was our first visit to hair is Happiness. The salon was adorable, boutiquie, Italian flare. It was immaculately clean and everything looked brand new. Silvia, the owner, greeted us when we walked in. She was warm and inviting and I could tell she was smiling behind her mask. We were 15 min early for our appointment but she took us right then. My 12yr old daughter wanted a cut and blow out. She asked her exactly what she wanted and she definitely listened bc she did a really amazing job. My daughter LOVED the cut and she said this is her new favorite place and she cant wait to come back. Prices are reasonable..and definitely try the coconut ices on your way out!

After reading so many wonderful reviews we knew we wanted to go to Hair is Happiness for our toddler’s first haircut. I booked two services through the website: the first haircut bash, and a men’s haircut for my husband. We’ve heard seeing dad get his haircut too may be less scary for little ones so we decided to book both together.When we arrived, we felt rushed into the process. I expected as a kids salon they may have had some tips or methods to ease our child into the haircut. We asked if our son or dad should go first. She brought out an iPad to help distract him which didn’t help, I ended up holding my crying son for the duration of the haircut - which I hear can be expected, but again felt rushed for a kids salon. We also weren’t asked about how we wanted his haircut, Yalma just started cutting. Overall his haircut came out okay, but for $42 I expected a little something more - maybe chatting with him, actually asking how we want it cut, letting him touch the comb or feel the vibration of the clippers etc.My husbands haircut was bad. This was his first professional haircut for over a year and a similar experience - Yalma didn’t ask what he wanted, she just started cutting. His service also included a wash but she jumped right into cutting his hair. He left with the sides and back bumpy which we had to fix up at home. For $50 for a men’s cut, we would have expected a cleaner experience. It felt like she was in a rush and wanted us out of there.Finally, when we were ready to check out, the process took 10-15 minutes. They didn’t have the services I booked in their system, so the extra details for the first haircut bash weren’t prepped. They kept making excuses of not having it in the system, and rushed the other pieces of the experience (trimmed our sons hair more for the keepsake lock of hair, getting a photo ready etc). It felt so disorganized, and I couldn’t help but notice the woman in the salon with us had a similar experience with her checkout taking 10+ minutes.All in all, though the website and the salon are beautiful, our ~$100 experience was barely mediocre and we will not return or recommend to friends.

Silvia is so great with the kids, and my own hair too! And the owner, Jerly, has really though this through! Love being able to grab a coffee ☕️ too!

Sylvia was fantastic, she fixed a botched balayage job and I couldn’t be happier with the re-coloring she did! Highly recommend.

This is the best salon in Jersey City for babies or toddlers haircuts. I took my son to Hair is Happiness and they have a really great setup for children with trucks and cars for kids to sit in while getting their haircut. As a business owner myself, I can see this salon pays attention to detail and has created a wonderful environment that make babies and toddlers feel comfortable. They also have an adult section which I have yet to try out, but plan on going to get a blowout next week!

What a great addition to the neighborhood! Our 11 month old baby just got his first haircut done by America and we had such a great experience. The space is beautiful and relaxing and everyone was very nice, plus his hair looks great :). We will be back.

I had a fantastic experience at hair is happiness today! I went to book appointments for my children and on a whim I decided to get a haircut for myself. The hairdresser is very skilled and she did a wonderful job. I didn’t expect that level of expertise! It is also worth noting that the place is beautiful, big and bright- very stylish. I loved the selection of books, clothes and toys on display. It’s a wonderful addition to the neighborhood!

What a fantastic new addition to the neighborhood. After coming across a postcard with their details on I booked an appointment for my 3 year old son on a Saturday morning. Jearly (spelling sorry!) was so welcoming. Silvia cut my sons hair, she was so friendly with us that it put him completely at ease. He enjoyed sitting on the Vespa and the actual cut was exactly what we wanted. The coffee shop and the mix of kids toys and clothes for sale at the back are nice additions, and the whole experience is relaxing. This will be our new local spot. Its probably $5 more than the other kid specific options in downtown but its right on the doorstep of Hamilton Park and its well worth the extra few dollars, if not more. Thanks once again!
