This place is great! If your needing an exam asap, then the Johnson City location is the place to go. I scheduled my exam online for the next day, because the other locations were booked until the following week. They do pediatric exams and accept most insurance. (If you use insurance right now, you get buy one get one 50% off) My daughters glasses had broke and she was due for her yearly exam, so this was extremely convenient. Was in and out fast. All their staff was very respectful and explained everything without having to ask. They have a large selection of frames and best of all, the have an on-site lab and cut the lenses in store!
Terrible. Would not recommend. Went here because my eye doctor was booked until the end of November. I need contacts. Couldnt see out of first batch. Second batch same thing. Still awaiting a callback.
I have been here several times and always had a fantastic experience. The initial young woman that checked me in and did my payment was rude, however, everyone else was as excellent, friendly, and professional as always. I have never dealt with her before but I feel like the rudeness is a personality trait rather than attempting to be problematic. Her behavior was not enough for me to no longer come here though I will definitely not attempt to work with her.
I will not be returning to this practice. I found this practice through my insurance as a preferred provider. Dr. Spangler saw me, he was rude and short. He did not do a complete examination of my eye. He checked my vision and prescription, and then rudely offered to look at the photos they had already took of my retina and optic nerve stating “I charge $19 to open up the file is that okay to do that today?” He responded rudely when I asked for further information on what exactly I was paying for. He did not turn around from his computer screen to speak to me. I simply agreed and he opened the files and looked at them for less than 15 seconds and said nothing. My eye was never evaluated with the Slit Lamp, but I’m sure my insurance was charged for a complete visit. They were extremely busy. I was there for 2 hours and had a scheduled appointment. The techs were obviously miserable, one was asked to stay late to help while I was there.Jason, who helped me pick out my glasses, was amazing and is the only reason I stayed to purchase frames and glasses.
Everyone is so friendly and nice. They are very thorough and love what they do! They are also very helpful as well.
I had gone to an optometrist a few years ago. The doctor and technician were nice. But the counter help and the one whos suppose to be helpful picking out glasses were uncomfortable to be around. They were just miserable women. Who wants to deal with that no matter how nice the doctor. So I decided to go to Vision works. I cant say enough nice things about this place. Everyone who works there is professional and friendly. Dr.Mcfee is very thorough and patient. I didnt feel rushed at all. When it came time to picking out glasses Jason went above and beyond from picking out the perfect glasses to making sure I got the best bang for my buck. The experience was good all around. I highly recommend this Vision works.
Visionworks was incredibly professional and incredibly helpful. The sales representative, Jason, went over and beyond what I felt he should have had to do for his job. He was amazing! I would highly recommend Visionworks. The quality of care that they gave was wonderful. Also, my insurance was accepted there and it made for some great discounts. I recommend checking it out if you need new glasses.
Tuesday 20 July, I was in Johnson City, from out of state and my frames broke. Luckily for me, I was just a few blocks from Visionworks Doctors of Optometry. I pulled in, went inside, and a gentleman (wish I had got his name), helped me immediately, he switched my lens from the broken frames, into a spare frame that I had, adjusted, cleaned them, and refused any payment. Needless to say, I was impressed with his professionalism, and kindness. They have earned my strongest recommendation, and a customer the next time Im in Johnson City or surrounding area.
Jason was amazing in choosing just the right look & fit in frames for me. I really appreciate him.The offices need some sprucing up...holes and scuffs on several walls, the carpet in my Exam room is filthy. They get you in and move you through quickly enough. However, I felt uncomfortable in the physical environment.
This is a great place to get a full eye exam and the prices are so affordable!
Let me tell you I went here to get my glasses these people are a class act all the way threw very friendly I felt like a king I truly did the people that work there are so nice and the doctor was pretty cool he let me know up front what the cost was for extras other then that got my glasses and everything went smooth thanks again see you again in a year or 2 Thanks again Jason you did a awesome job :)
I recently had an appointment with Visionworks. They immediately greeted me at the door, with masks on and were extremely professional putting me at easy during these covid-19 precautions. They were on time, and I was quickly taken through the phases of my eye exam. After the completion of the thorough exam, I found my frame, and Josh patiently made sure all my questions were answered, and my new glasses were ready to be ordered.Great experience!
Appointment, eye exam went great. Jason was great helping with frames and ordering my glasses. The adjusting to fit was the nightmare. After waiting a week my first set came in, during the fitting adjustments the young guy broke my frames. He then replaced them breaking my lens in the process and stripping out the screws in my nose pads. So, I return to the store and order a whole new replacement pair. I have the new pair now and I do like them. However ..again the fitting adjustments could be much better.
I have bought several pair of glasses and I always get best coating to protect from scratching but their quality is so poor they end up scratched to death.Have worn glasses for 40 years and have always gotten protected lens without issues until here. Spent alot if money to have such poor quality!!Time for a new vision place.
I highly recommend Visionworks for your eye care needs. The associates & doctors are very professional, ask great questions & care about making sure you are taken care of, happy with your glass choices, etc. A shout out to Jason for reviewing charges in detail and providing great options for both sets of glasses, and thank you for repairing my old glasses.
Everyone is extremely nice and helpful. Their practices of being clean during covid is also very impressive. From any contact tracing to just the wiping down of equipment to making sure you dont put glasses you try on back on the rack. They really did think of everything they could to keep everyone safe. Also, walking you through every step of the process making sure you know exactly what you are getting and at what price.
The first time that I made an appointment, it was made for 6:30 in the evening. When I got to the center and went to check in the lady who was there was very rude and was upset that we made an appointment at 6:30 when they close at 7 and made unnecessary comments about her going home. Mind you, that we were offered the 6:30 appointment. We left that day and scheduled another appointment due to her rudeness. Today, when we went back, they were just as rude as they were the first time. The lady who checked us in was very impersonable and acted like it was a burden to do her job. She was also the person who done the initial exam, and was not very nice to my daughter while examining her. The doctor was okay, but very short and trying to just push things through. The guy up front who took care of us after we chose her glasses was efficient and helped us in a polite manner.
Fast, efficient, convenient and customer service is great
I have been going to this place for about 10 years and I always have a great experience with everyone there.....
Personable service and the price was reasonable. Im overall satisfied with my exam and treatment.
The entire staff was amazing and truly felt the personalize service. Can’t wait to pickup my new glasses. Thank you again to all the staff for providing great customer service..
A wonderful visit with very professional people. They were following all COVID guidelines. Definitely a very quick visit, glasses ordered, & had me on my way!Thank you Jason for a job well done!
First time ever going up there, the staff was polite and got me in there quickly. I told them that I have severe epilepsy during the eye exam and they respected me for it. They were concerned but it was okay. I would recommend this to everyone! Sure going back.
I had the same experience as many others here. The optometrist was great, excellent prescription. Picking up was a totally different story. The person who gave me my glasses bent my frames, and then went to ask a colleague how to adjust them. Colleague said those glasses shouldnt be adjusted like that. So she just handed me back my bent frames that no longer fit right. And then she just stared at me. No attempts to make it right. It was downright weird... and now my frames that I cant afford to replace are all bent up. They could have at least offered a replacement or attempted to undo the damage they caused? These were my favorite frames...Go for the exam, dont let them touch your glasses afterwards.
Everyone was so nice and helpful. I really appreciated Jason!! He helped me pick frames that I loved, which is usually very hard for me to do. Then he fixed my glasses I’m currently wearing because they were loose, and he didn’t have to do that. He also gave me a really great outline of what prices I’d be looking at after insurance. :)
Outstanding! Very professional, warm staff. Dr. Spangler was probably the best optometrist I have ever seen. Visionworks will be our families eyecare provider from now on.
Good people, fast (as possible, a lot of clients were there + the BS Coivid restrictions) and courteous. Dr was excellent, asked good questions even saved me money on his recommendations. Some of those recommendations were in conflict with things I had been previously been told about contacts. His main goal was clearer overall vision and then adjust, with readers if need be, for reading etc. The employee fitting me for glasses had good common sense suggestions and did a great job, and was also quick and efficient.
The eye exam was thorough. They got my vision corrected better than any place Ive been to. I was there for a long time, is the only complaint. The young man who helped me pick out frames was great, he made suggestions i would never have thought of. I love my glasses. He measured them for the bifocal better than anyone. I can see out of them better from the start, love the different frames. I will go back.
The front lady Abby was so rude. Definitely not coming back
Have been sitting here for over an hour waiting for my eye exam, no one has exited the exam room. When I ask I am told, he is very good and takes a long time. An hour, how outrageous!!!!
Didn’t like the wait but other then that things was simple and easy
It was a good experience and getting my eyes checked doctors were very helpful another employee for 2 thank you very much
I had the first appointment of the day and was still in their office 2 hours later. If you have all day to commit to an eye exam, then this is your place to go.
Made an appointment to make sure my daughter didnt need glasses. They used appropriate Covid-19 precautions and they were nice to my daughter who has an abundance of energy. Thank you!
Made an appt in advance. Arrived on time and was out in no time. Shortest amount of time I’ve been able to get an exam and order my glasses. They are taking precautions for COVID and keeping everyone as safe as possible.
Helped me with an on the spot eye exam and got my glasses aswell within a 8 hour period all for less than expected! Glasses are great! Its my first time wearing glasses!
This was a very poorly run office!! Very inefficient. Too many details to share... but I will not be using them again.
I recently got in for an eye & contact exam. Bought contacts as well as two sets of glasses. I called on a Monday and was able to get an appointment the next day. Could have been sheer luck but as I broke my glasses in half I was in dire need. I got there Tuesday afternoon and they were so busy. You could tell everyone was scrambling around trying to get stuff done and take care of people but I never once felt rushed.I picked out a few pairs of frames and the man that helped me was polite and honest. He told me when something was a little to small for my head and suggested a replacement that I liked even more. He took his time to talk to me about the frames, lenses and the optional anti glare and transition.I picked my first pair of glasses up the following Monday and was highly satisfied. The transition lenses are awesome. As I drove home from work that night I noticed how much better I could see with the anti glare that was suggested. I received my second pair and contacts Thursday of that week. Much faster than the two week time frame they give. I saw Dr.Spangler once again after I inserted my trial pair. The lady who led me back had me sit in the room and came back after a moment saying.. it could be a little while the doctor was on lunch. Dr.Spangler was polite and professional and I’m nearly positive he cut his lunch short to come take care of me because not two minutes later he was checking my eyes.I couldn’t have asked for a better experience.Sincerely thank each and every one of you that helped me.
Great people !! Great service!!
Very disappointed. We still haven’t received a pair of glasses that we ordered June 1. Today is July 9. Most of the workers are rude and unhelpful— especially Paul, who told us over the phone on June 29 that they had our glasses. He told us just to come pick them up. Except upon arrival, we were informed that the glasses had actually been lost in transit (as in, Paul didn’t even care to look and see if the glasses were ACTUALLY there), and we were told that they needed to be reordered. That all occured on June 29. We still have not received the second pair, even though it was promised to take no more than 4 business days for the new pair to arrive. It has been almost two weeks we have waited since the reorder. The unprofessionalism is too real at this place, and I truly recommend that you avoid this place at all costs. No one wants to take responsibility here.
The experience of being sold my glasses was fantastic, 5 STARS, thanks Jason. The experience of picking up my glasses was a mess.I had 1 young lady try to fit my sunglasses, with no luck. Then she tried to fit my new set, no luck. Then she just left for a break, left me sitting there. I waited a while & finally had to ask if she was returning or if someone else can help me.The 2nd young lady had her way with my new set with some luck. Jason also lended a hand while he was helping others. I was waiting for about an hour. I finally took everything out to the truck & tried all 3 sets on again. The sunglasses didnt fit, kept sliding off my face STILL.Came back in to get the sunglasses re fit, again. My 4th customer service gentleman (Tony) was efficient & knowledgeable. Oh, while Tony was helping me (customer service person #4), customer service young lady #1 returned from her break, yep I was still there!Hit or miss at this place. Good luck!
Kind friendly and patient!!! Very patient with 12 yr old!! Great job.
These people are amazing! I have an auto immune disorder and the care they used with me was extraordinary! I believe the doctor was Dr Shankle. If I misspelled it so sorry. This doctor took such good care of me! He is brilliant, kind and so knowledgeable. He brought me relief! I woke up feeling like a human this morning! Thank you Doc!
I was a walk in customer. I was greeted by very patient and polite employees. I was informed I would have to wait anywhere from an hour and a half to two hours to see the doctor; however, I was seen by the doctor within 30 minutes of completing the new patient paperwork. My eye exam only took about an hour plus the doctor was super friendly, polite, and thorough. He was extremely detailed as he explained everything before doing a single thing. After my eye exam I didnt have to wait but just a minute after I choose my frames. After everything was said and done the whole visit plus two pairs of glasses only cost me $119. My finally review would have to be that they are fast, efficient, very friendly, and polite. I would recommend ValueVision to everyone I know they have excellent and fair prices and have wonderful staff.
Very pleasant people. Helped me every step of the way through the new process. Great selection of frames to choose from.
Worth the wait courteous and professional I can wait for my glasses!!!!
Wonderful and incredibly helpful staff. Excellent selection of glasses.
One thing I will say is that they are very busy, and sometimes your appointment will run over or they cant get to you right away (it happens). You might be asked about your previous history with contacts or other eyewear (heaven forbid they check this with you, I was personally glad they did this because I had wanted to ask for eye dropper recommendations for contacts on dry eyes). Due to COVID, your digital form may or may not go through. Stuff happens and its clear Visionworks is still working out COVID kinks. Speaking of that, the woman who helped me with my contacts religiously cleaned every thing I touched or would touch. That and she was very kind and answered my questions when it came to brands, price, and prescription. As for the doctor, that part of the examination was quick. I didnt feel rushed (I saw someone mention this before), he was just going through the steps and did ask a question or two out of kindness (where do you work/was it busy today?). That and it helped that my eyesight hadnt changed so the examination was relatively quick. Please understand that this office is always busy and at times they feel or appear short staffed. That and if you dont want to risk a new brand or what have you, provide your previous prescription. I had a picture of mine but they asked me after discovering Id worn contacts before. Overall, I recommend Visionworks. Sure, my appointment lasted an hour, but I wasnt the only person and there was only one optometrist. That and having a relative who has a very weak immune system, I am thankful for the office trying to keep everyone as healthy and free of COVID as they possibly can.
Great customer service!! They are incredibly polite, informative, and patient. And they always have great discounts and opportunities available, as well as a great selection of frames .
I will not be going back to the Johnson City TN store once Im finished with this visit process. The only reason I went there was to see my physician there that I usually see in another office. He is the best physician. However the Johnson City store I was not very impressed from the time I walked in. I got there earlier than my appointment time at 4 because I came straight from work I left there at 15 after 3. The lady that checked me in....I hate to sound cruel but there is not a word that I can use to describe how I was waited on. It was like it would take her forever to get one thing done. Yes she had to call and get a few of my records from the other store which was fine I gave her permission to do that. She did go over my options as far as payment which I had already discussed with the lady at the other store and I made her aware of the conversation. I filled out her paperwork she gave me and sat it back on the desk and before she picked it back up she waited on two others before me. It was getting to be 4 oclock which was my appointment time. It got to be 15 after and there was another lady fixing to go back and wait in line before my turn to go back and another employee came out fixing to leave and I asked her if the physician had anyone back there because my appointment was at 4 and I hadnt been back yet. The lady that was checking in finally told me I could come back. It just felt like it was a long and painful wait because it felt like the lady would start something then go start something else or walk away and would barely look at your when they were talking to you. It was going on 6 oclock before we even started checking out for my order. It was 7 before I got home and my appointment was at 4. I mean I understand you do have to wait a little while but I feel like that was uncalled for. And even when a staff members tells me themselves that that place doesnt run very well. its bad when we both agree. I will definitely be staying at the other office. I would give the physician a 5 star rating before I would ever give this store one.
If I could give this place zero stars I would. I understand the whole COVID-19 protocol. I came to my appointment wearing a mask. But if you want customers to stop just inside the door to take a temperature, the RIGHT WAY to do it is to put a sign on the front door or just inside the front door. Not treat you like you are coming in to rob the place before they even thank you for coming in. You have to confirm your appointment no less than 5 times by various means before and if you do online paperwork? Forget it, just show up early and do it there b/c mine never went through. So I had to be asked medical questions in the main lobby, which is a HIPAA violation, with other customers around. They want you to pay additional for a retinal exam that is important if you have hypertension or diabetes...Im sorry, it should be included. My regular doc always included the exam. Doc never asked me any questions about my past experience in wearing contacts and then when I left the exam room to be fitted I HAD TO ASK the optician what was ordered and it was a brand/type I had never heard of. I told her that wasnt going to work...(because you have no idea of what I went through in order to find a pair that fit)..b/c God forbid this is discussed with you in advance. I was chastised that I should have discussed it with the doctor if that is what I wanted. Im sorry, I DONT WORK THERE. Its your job to initiate the discussion on options...not mine. They wanted to order my trial pair plus an entire shipment of contacts and send all of it at my expense directly to my house, they didnt have my size in the #1 selling brand and wanted me to wait 8 weeks to get them. So what if I got them and the strength didnt work? She had no answer. No way was I risking paying twice. Nope....nope. I asked if I could simply have my script for the contact lenses and I was told I couldnt. There are so many customers backed up for appointments there is no social distancing. I was already there for 90 minutes with an early appointment. I told her to forget the contacts and got my eyeglass prescription and I scheduled an appointment with my regular optometrist and I am going to pay out of pocket for the entire exam to be repeated because I didnt realize until I got home that I really got a rushed job that was nowhere near as thorough as what I had received before. I thought this option would be more convenient b/c I would get to schedule my appointment online, but it wasnt worth the hassle. I ended up leaving with zero eyewear. Skip these retail stores people, they are corporate owned and they dont care about the quality of the service or the quality of your vision. All they are looking for is to run people as quickly as they can in and out like sheep. If you have only visited these corporate owned types? I have no idea the level of service you are missing from your local optometrist. I learned my lesson, the hard way.
As soon as my trial pair of contacts come in after 3 WEEKS of waiting I Will NEVER use this branch again! With an appointment was there for over 2 hours with only ONE person in front of me. After my exam the receptionist tried to put other people in front of me. Also tried to charge me more than DOUBLE what my contacts normally are per box! I was told two weeks for my contacts to show up, now there is a hold on my trial and I have to wait another week. With my last pair of contacts too old to use because of covid shut down and my only pair of glasses are broken I would expect that withing 2 weeks I would be able to see again. Worst service Ive ever had in ten years of using this company
I have bought many pairs of glasses here over the years. J has always been so kind and listen to my needs and we found great glasses for me. The last eye exam I had was by a newer doctor. He was very nice and explained everything to me.
Everyone at the place are weenies, don’t recommend them
Alright place, went here due to insurance situation. The staff is good but it takes a long time to get eyes checked and to order products. They are very busy.
I’ve been going to this same eye doctor since 2nd grade. I’m almost 30 and will not go anywhere else. They make it easy and quick. My new vision insurance doesn’t have them as “In-network” so they filled out all my forms and sent them to my insurance for me to be a reimbursement. The manager there, Jason Good, is top of the line. And goes above and beyond with his Customer Service.
Great staff, doctor and service. Plenty off frames to choose from . Got an apointment really fast. Staff is very helpfull with helping pick frames out. Was great visit and will go back for next exam i need.
For the past 3 or 4 years I have gotten my glasses here. I have no complaints. Everyone is very helpful. Also Dr. Jones is an excellent optometrist. He is very knowledgeable and takes his time going over everything.
I always love coming to vision works. The doctors are great and I love having Jason Good help me find which glasses I want to get. He truly takes customer service to a whole different level. Thank you !
After a contact exam, I asked Dr. what my new prescription was and he said “I’ll write it down.” When Dr. took me out to contact desk, I asked the lady there what my prescription was and she said she wasn’t allowed to give me that information, the Dr. had to examine after me after I had the new contacts in. After I pressed for the prescription, she called the manager who reiterated that they couldn’t tell me my new prescription because it was an FDA rule. I do not, for one minute, believe this to be true. I left very frustrated and angry and did not order my contacts. I will not return to, nor recommend Visionworks.
I will never go to another eye center. Excellent, fast service and friendly staff make eye exams, checkups, and glasses repair so easy.
Staff is friendly and courteous. Doctor is very thorough and takes time to explain what will be done beforehand so you know to expect and can ask questions if needed.
Best place ever got eye glasses and exam
They got me in last minute which was very helpful. I was in and out fairly quickly and all the employees were super professional. All I have to do now is make sure my contacts and glasses are going to work. Good place to go. I recommend it.
I do not have vision insurance, so I had to wait until I could take advantage of the a special on eyeglass exams. The staff was exceedingly helpful in informing me of their specials pricing, what it would include, and what restrictions would apply. The doctor respected my concerns relating to post traumatic stress and took extra care to help me help him determine what I would need. They provided me with the necessary measurement information to order my glasses online since my limited budget did not allow me the ability to make a purchase in this office. They even explained each step and what the information meant so I could make the best informed decision possible, allowing me to sample their frames to explore sizes and textures that would accommodate my special needs.I am extremely grateful and highly recommend this business for optometric care.
Arrived at 6:30pm with no appointment. They not only gave me my eye exam, but also did the comprehensive measurements for contacts. They close at 7pm, yet helped me untill 7:40. They did an exhaustive eye insurance coverage search for me and were able to tell me all of my details.Would highly recommend this dedicated team!
Very thorough service from the doctor and the staff. I definitely recommend going. Keep in mind they can get very busy but its worth the wait.
I am always pleased with my visit to Visionworks. It is very difficult to be seen without an appointment, as theyre always packed! But, I have learned an appointment is necessary even though they do acccept walk ins. Jason has worked with me numerous times and is so patient, kind, helpful, and very knowledgeable! He never rushes you when deciding on which frames youre trying to choose from or if you want any add ons on the lenses. He acts as if you are the only person in the store...even though it is always busy! I cannot say enough about the excellent customer service and professionalism he gives each and every time! I hope Jasons manager gives him the recognition he deserves, he is the reason I keep returning! 😊
I have very good insurance with VSP. I went in with no wait. I did a basic eye exam with an optometrists aide (I guess thats what youd call her), similar to those I have done with patients as an RN, then the doctor came in and told me my prescription. No further eye exam was performed. No dilation. No anything. He told me I was good to go. The staff were very kind, thus the two stars. Never in my life have I not had an exam by an optometrist when Ive gone to an optometrists office. I have worn contacts in the past but felt my prescription had worsened with age. But magically, my prescription was much better per your optometrist. I was told when I exited the exam room that I could choose any frame I liked from the store for my very light prescription, that it was covered by my insurance. I decided to just leave. I went to a reputable optometrist 2 weeks later and received an actual exam. I found I needed a stronger prescription. I think you need to evaluate your optometrists. Youre at risk for insurance FWA with the quality of care in your office. I truly do not want to see that happen as you are an important provider in our area.
I have been going here for YEARS and I have always had the best service, plus theyre super nice and helpful! Never once have they ever been rude to me or screwed me out of money. Seriously, why go to a place like Lenscrafters when you can go here and pay literally HALF of what they want?! Thanks a bunch Visionworks, you will have my business and my family and friends that I refer for many more years to come! :)
They were very into helping me in every way to see better and find the best in glasses. Vey kind!!!
Stay away from this place!I called TWICE to clarify whether it was okay to come in to get an eye exam the same day. Their receptionist assured me that it would be no problem if I came sooner than later.I dropped everything I was doing and drove there for 30 minutes only to find out that they cant fit me into their schedule.A disorganized mess! There are plenty of other eyeglass places in town that honor their word.Stay away...
Tony was absolutely amazing. His customer service is spot on and he makes you feel like a VIP. He helped me while everyone else was pretending to look busy. I had set up an appointment in store. Showed up to find out it wasnt set up. Tony set me as priority for my major inconvenience. Had me set up and out of there in no time! This store is lucky to have him!
All of the employees are nice and caring and they will help you in any way they can.
I’ve been here several times. They take walk-ins, so be prepared to stay the alloted 2 hours if you make an appointment. Everyone was helpful. Dr. Jones was super friendly and didn’t make me feel like questions were an inconvenience. They have great sales on glasses too!!
Friendly staff! From start to finish everyone is polite and knowledgeable. The entire staff went over and beyond to make sure my entire family had a comfortable experience.
Everyone is really nice and super professional. They helped me find and get set up with my new glasses and I love them.
Constantly called for days in efforts to reschedule my appointment and no one will pick up the phone...
I’ve been going to Visionworks at this location for 2 years after one of my other doctors went further away and I don’t wanna drive that far I have had nothing but good experiences here. Good selection of glasses and people that help you out, thanks
I was very pleased with my visit. Jason G. took care of my needs. He is very knowledgeable and efficient.
Great care efficient in and out willing to answer any questions you may have
Great staff I went on a Sunday and they did a great job for the amount of staff they had on hand.
We had a terrible experience after being customers for ten years. Dr. Spangler rushed through the appointment, barely spoke and even picked up his phone several times in the middle of the exam. As soon as we got the new contacts in, my daughter told the lady they felt far too strong. She was dismissed and told to wear them for two weeks eventhough she’s been wearing contacts for ten years and never had any feel this strong before. We followed through with a miserable two weeks against our best judgement and when we returned to get refitted the woman who does the fittings came into the main area and began to literally scream at us saying that no matter what we had to pay $60 for another contact fitting. After several minutes without her taking a break I finally interrupted and stated that I understood that and asked but why was she yelling at me in front of everyone? She turned around and rushed back into the contact area. The manager was sitting two desks away and when I asked if he heard her yelling he denied it but looked very flustered and said she shouldnt have done that. I expressed that without some reassurance that this would be cleared up and wouldn’t happen again we would not remain customers. He stated he didn’t know how to do that. I told him I was sorry but then we would have to go somewhere else after being customers for a decade. This has never been a top shelf business but this year everything felt chaotic, mismanaged and impersonal amd obviously plain rude. Unfortunately,I would highly suggest trying any other vision center first.
Have been vision works customers since they opened in Johnson City . Today they lied to me about a promotion they said they would give me. I will not ever patronize vision works again because I wont deal with liars. Anyone wanting glasses stay away from vision works, they will lie to you to get you in the store then totally deny it. Bad customer service, they could care less about customer satisfaction, the prices are over inlflated purposely to give you a discount to make you feel like you got a good deal.
Convient way to book your appointment online. I had zero wait time upon arrival for my exam. I was in and out in one hour. They even had my glasses ready for pick up the same day. All in all it was a great experience.
Two years ago and last year the service was great. I went to this place this year and everything is change, bad service, unfriendly doctor, they just wasted my time for nothing! I believe they have racism. I prefer to drive an hour to get another place rather than go to JC visionworks.
Great with helping you pick out glasses and very kind with any questions i had. Couldnt be happier going anywhere else
I was looking up to go there tomorrow. Have been there several times. Have had probably 3 good experiences. An have had 2 bad experiences. I agree that Dr archer doesnt listen to anything you say they, he actually just used my old prescription. Was very unprofessional an rude also has bad breath. Lol.. But I saw someone else there I think name was David Im not sure. An he did do a good job. The reason I went there was because no other place would give me colored contacts because Im already almost blind . but Dr Archer gave them to,me. The last time I went tho saw someone else not sure of name an of course I didnt get to get colored contacts. Visit was all together 400. Dollars cash got contacts an glasses with bifocals. Which I,love the glasses. He did dilate my eyes an did a real eye test not like Dr Archer an just use my last script. But they talked me into something where I would get a discount for following year..Which I never used. Also got free Free pair nice sunglasses. Anyway guess everybody has bad days. But now Im not sure if Im going there tomorrow or not. Ill have to think about it now that iv read these reviews. But I want colored contacts An other places wont let me have them. Maybe they will read this An give me a good discount. More than 10% their offering on here. I been going there for at least 10 yrs. Ill check maybe they have a different docter. Its cash so I do need help with bill now that Im retired. Now I have to check few other places. Thank you
Extremely efficient eye exam. Front office staff, namely “Paul”, was very helpful in selecting eyeglasses.
I dont no who the new eye doc at vision works is but excellent
Ive bought my glasses from this company in Johnson City for YEARS!! Brought my daughter in a year ago to get her very first pair of glasses. Half of the staff is very friendly and assist in anyway they can. I had a few workers that was pretty rude and I felt like me and my daighter was being rushed and that is one of the biggest things that I cannot stand. I have always done my business here at the Johnson City loxation. This place is pricey and they are all about making that money.. Switching new doctors IMMEDIATELY
I had a great experience, both times I have bee there. The gentleman (Jason, I believe) who helps me goes above and beyond. And the optometrist David Spangler was WONDERFUL!!! I havent been able to see so well in years. He listened to a problem I have been having many years and steered me in the right direction.
This is the worst place ever. I sat there for 5 hours the first time to walk out with the wrong prescription and no one inside would listen to me when I told them I could not see. I can back in one week as scheduled. I walked out not even being able to see my own vehicle when I walked out. I walked back inside and they told me they would fix it. I walked out with 20/40 vision after another 5 hours there. I told them I still couldnt see. I came back 2 weeks later as advised and I now have a prescription I can actually see out of but I have once again sat here for 5 hours. I still have to be seen by the optometrist to sign off on my contacts and glasses. I have wore glasses and contaxts for over 30 years. I have never been treated so poorly or had a worse experience getting contacts and glasses. I would give them a negative review of possible
The quality of the glasses is poor and you could get a much cheaper pair online.
Very pleased with the way I was taken care of here, and the kindness shown by all staff! I just moved here from Florida and left my visionworks team there. Lucy and Susan were so sweet and caring, and most exceptional in making you feel at home and treating you like your family! Thankful to be apart of this visionworks team.
Visions works is the best eye care place for me! I was excited to see that I got my glasses that same day! Everyone was very professional and very nice! Excellent service!

Avoid going here to see Dr Archer. I went to him twice telling him was seeing a glare of light in my right eye. He still wouldnt listen and basically said it was the brand of contacts I was wearing. So he raised my prescription and put me in a new brand of contacts, told me to come back in a week. I came back and told him again I was having this same issue and I didnt think it was the contacts. I asked him to dilate my eyes and he said my eyes were perfectly healthy and that is was just the bad contacts. He raised my prescription AGAIN and gave me a new pair of contacts and told me to return in a week. So I decided to go somewhere else because he wasnt listening to me. Long story short, I was having detached retina in BOTH eyes and had to be seen by Southeastern Retina to have surgery that same week! Because of him I have permintely lost vision in my right eye that I will never get back! Had he just listened and dilated my eyes to begin with, plus he had my prescription way too high and I was lowered back down to my original prescription, thanks to a optometrist that DID listen to me.
