Not really a thrift store at all as the prices are ridiculous for DONATED items. If youre going to use Ebay to try and set prices, all youre do is encourage people to shop on ebay and have it delivered to your door. The price gouging at these places has gotten out of hand....so sad.
Very reasonable place to buy this and that. Got a couple of vases they were beautiful. Love this place. Will visit again.
They always have stuff Im looking for. I typically will buy furniture. Their prices are very fair and they deliver. The delivery fee is reasonable. I enjoy doing business with them.
My mother is my payee through the Social Security Administration. Attempted to make a purchase of a couch for my new residence from the Good Samaritan Thrift Store in downtown Johnson City, Tennessee (using my mother’s credit card). After the purchase was made, I went home and checked the specks. Realized the sofa will not fit into the residence. Went back to the store and informed the Thrift store clerk and manager of my position. Explaining to the manager who pointed out a no refund policy displayed on the wall located in a location away from the store register where I did not see. The no refund is not on the receipts listed below. The Good Samaritan Thrift Store Clerk became hostile as I was attempting to explain my position. The couch has never left the store and still has not. I have been informed that if I do pick up the couch within 24 hours of attempted delivery, I will forfeit my 230 dollars 💵.My name is Donald Kyle Yontz and I am a United States Civil Rights Activist. My mother is mental and somewhat underprivileged due to her own mental illness through the Social Security Administration as well. Having worked as a counselor through United Way, myself, know first hand 🤚, this is an ethics determination . The manager at the Good Samaritan has chosen principle over good common sense. It is not the image portrayed by The Good Samaritan Thrift Store to take Advantage of people with mental disabilities. This is exactly what they are doing in this particular situation. There is clearly no misunderstanding here. Coming from an activist, (opinionated) people in this country 🇺🇸 need to use common sense over proper procedure when it comes to taking advantage of underprivileged people.Donald Kyle YontzUnited States Civil Rights Activist
Used to get some good deals at good sam Now way over priced on a lot of stuff.. used to spend a lot of money there.. walked out today empty handed for the last time. Need to bring it back to the way it used to be.
I really like how big of a warm welcome I get as soon as I walk in and also a wide range of slightly used merchandise here. I really enjoy shopping around in this thrift store. I would recommend shopping here to anyone in need of decently priced items to take a look around
Clean thrift store with a variety of items.I go here for kids items/dvds/workout clothingRegular clothing or furniture is a hit or miss.Staff is always helpful, and the mission of Good Sam/community outreach they do is worth the stop in itself
So expensive what happened used to be affordable and get good deals! Now shoes are marked 20-30 bucks? No thanks. Wont be back.
Lots of great DONATIONS but most items are ridiculously pricey
This place used to be really good, however now not do much. The selection is very poor and they have gone way up on their prices. The store is clean, parking is terrible and the people working the last time I visited were not friendly at all. Im not sure what has brought on the big change but there are other thrift stores in town with better selection and also better prices and your treated much better. Its really sad that this place has gone in this negative direction.
I loved this place! I will definitely be back!
The prices are completely unreasonable for a thrift store. I literally saw a broken teapot with no lid for $9.00.Pricing looks based on eBay ask comps rather than sold comps, and doesnt consider condition. I wont be returning
I have always been treated with respect and have received help several times..
I really like this place some of the employees You Know Who You Are thank you sweetie
Great place an great prices on brand name stuff this is my favorite thrift store
Great shop! I asked them to hold an item for me that was posted on IG, they did, I went to purchase it, and I love it!! While there, of course I happened to find a few other things to buy......😂.Thank you GSTS.
Refused to allow me to use a restroom. Left immediately after. Unfortunate because we really like thrift stores but this one we will never go to again.
I stopped here a long time ago and it was decent but prices have soared and I go thrifting all over the us and this one is one of the highest priced.i picked up an old pair of work shoes with dirt and grass on bottom and it had $20 on bottom checked upfront and sure enough that was the price.dont waste your time here and parking was a mess.
A simple trip gone wrong - my first time being here too. Was sadly hassled about not having a mask (but was suggested to buy one). I had my 2 littles with me. Baby in the stroller, the toddler a little rambunctious to see the kid section so I was struggling a little bit as is. I saw no reason to buy one and give into this madness - I’m healthy and my children wouldn’t be wearing one anyways. The person at the door greeting people wasn’t even wearing hers correctly and when I pointed that out the response was “she’s just a volunteer” - as if that justifies it? The mandate has been lifted in our county, “proper mask wearing” has been known for over a year now, and yet I’m a healthy individual wanting a normal experience to go thrifting with my children? And I say no thank you, then asked to leave if I won’t wear a mask, but the volunteer wearing the mask wrong gets a slap on the wrist? What is this world coming to? Everyone touches everything anyways in the store? Will not be shopping here again or recommending.First impressions are everything.
Supposed to be a thrift store yet priced like some sort of boutique. Seen a pair of used shoes for $200, a stereo receiver from like the 90s for $200. Absolutely Insane. Thrift stores are supposed to provide deals for people who cant afford to go and but new stuff. This store should be ashamed for themselves.
Had so much fun shopping for items I can add an updated and fresh look to for my home.
Bargain thrift store that benefits those in need. Clothes, books, small appliances, toys and furniture. If you enjoy thrifting, stop in. The staff is very friendly.
The Sam might be good, but he aint cheap! They get their prices from eBay and that says it all.
Very overpriced for a thrift store…where everything is donated to them.
Good place to find bargains. Staff is polite and helpful.
Google says they are open all day Sunday but they are not -so I drove here for nothing. They are not open Sunday or Monday and dont bother calling the number listed either because it seems it is for another business. It is a bit confusing where to park etc. and was hard to tell if they were open or not. Found a sign with hours behind the building but the gate to a (parking?) lot says open and its not.
Some good prices but there is some things too expensive for this store when its purpose is to help people of the community
Omg. What a dump outside. Inside was clean and staff was friendly. Should be in a nicer area.
Terrible prices. It seems to me they pick through anything of value and mark it all up to ebay prices.Newsflash, no ones paying 200 for shoes at a thrift store.
Favorite thrift store in town
Friendly staff but prices are kinda high for a thrift store.
You never know what treasures you will find at Good Sam. Their prices are really good too.
Weird hours. Hard to catch them open. But great warehouse with good prices. Super good for furniture!
Woman working at the counter was rude! I realize its a thrift store, but she made my experience almost embarrassing!! I wont be returning any time soon!
Very nice
Always get good prices. Wide variety of stuff.
Very nice and friendly staff
Vast selection of items in good quality or better and every dollar spent goes to help the less fortunate,This is NON PROFIT organization. No one is living in a mansion or flying a private jet.
Need a mask to go in? Like the masks they have on dont work? They didnt want my $. I spent my $200 at a diffrent place.
Great store great prices on stuff
Just Looked around, it kinda looked empty compared to how it used to look, like they’ve really cleaned it out or don’t have much. Still don’t care much about the prices on used stuff. Especially for low income individuals who shop at thrifts in this area. I’m better off buying new at Ross or Gabes when they have their sales really. But that’s just my opinion.
Great stuff at ridiculously low prices! You never know what you will find.
For my dollar this is the best second hand store in Johnson City, prices are fair and theres plenty of product flow. Its always clean, and the staff is always friendly.
Nice thrift store with a wide variety of items to shop. Helpful employees.
Good store, with a Great cause
Love ❤️
Good bargins
No public bathrooms at all. Said you had to wear a mask to go inside when the masks are not going to do any good when youre making a hot spot for breeding grounds for germs. Had plans to spend a lot of money there but took my business elsewhere. Wont be back.
Great place reasonable prices great customer service
Over priced junk
Always a treat to see what might be there
Good thrift store with a great selection of items.
